Becky Quinn On May 11, unknown to her parents, the baby that was soon to be named Rebecca Quinn made a chance turn in the womb that would ultimately label her a “fighter” for the rest of her life. She just happened to turn a little to the left and sever her umbilical cord. Over the next two weeks, the doctor noticed she was not growing, but she was actually shrinking. At 9:00 pm on May 24 the decision was made to induce labor. About 9 hours later, on May 25, 1993, the three-week early, 4lb 3oz baby girl was born. Although Tammy was able to return home two days later, Rebecca remained at the hospital for another week. Periodically over the next three years she was evaluated in terms of her growth compared to children who had been born full term. At the age of three she moved to her current house. By now she was not only called Rebecca, but also had assumed the nickname Becky. At four years old, she received her first dog which she named Shane. A few months later, Shane was brought to a kennel in Scotia because he had become too vicious towards her. Upon being brought to the kennel, he was put down due to his lack of patience for the young girl. A few months after this, Becky's pet gerbil who she named Gussyboy died because of a tumor that had been growing out of his ear for some time. In 1998, when Becky was six, she met Adam Keeler, someone who has become one of her best friends and a type of "brother" to her. They met because he had moved next door to her. He helped her to not only learn how to ride a bike, but also helped her practice any sport she took an interest to as a child. Throughout the years, they slowly grew apart, but still knew they could always rely on each other. Also, in September of this same year, she started to take dance classes at Orlando's School of Dance. To this day she still has a love for not only dance, but also for

the school, where the people she has met there have become like a second family she feels she can always count on. She began with ballet, in three years she was also taking tap classes, and within four years from this, she was learning how to glide in Pointe shoes. In the beginning of April 1999, Becky became seriously ill. The symptoms increased over a two week period, until they finally manifested into double pneumonia. This is when pneumonia occurs in both lungs. She was hospitalized for about 3-4 days. Her parents were devastated. She does not remember much of this time. The doctors never figured out how she became this ill, or how she miraculously recovered within a few days of being in the hospital. With this, Becky’s label as a “fighter” amongst doctors was sealed. On May 26, 2001, her parents married. Becky was the flower girl, and wore that title with pride. She was so excited to be part of her parents’ wedding that she refused to get any dress that did not resemble her mom’s. Both dresses were long, white flowing gowns with puffed shoulders. In June of 2001, Becky's grandfather, who she called Grandpa, passed away due to a stroke, this was about a month after her parents got married. Although she was extremely upset by this, she did not fully understand the impact of the death of a family member. This was until October 31, 2002, when her grandfather, who she called Papa, also passed away due to a heart attack. Because she had been close to him, she felt the full effect of losing someone important in her life. In early 2003, Becky received her Great Dane she named Scooby. He was her birthday present for her tenth birthday. She decided to name him after the cartoon

character because that was her favorite cartoon as a child. Throughout the years, Scooby lived up to his name. He was afraid of almost everything, would do anything for a biscuit, and stayed by her side until the day he died. Not long after getting Scooby, she met Danya Rae Benson, a very unconventional person who has become her best friend, and some people even say they are like twins. Together the two have gotten into trouble, awkward situations, thrown into the most peculiar situations, and have had all around fun. The two both knew from the day they met that they would be best friends for life. At eleven years old, Becky entered the sixth grade. She found this to be an extreme milestone because now she was going to be on the same bus as highschoolers. When she was in 7th grade, Becky decided to try to join her school's soccer team. This only lasted for one season. Although she tried her best to have fun and be a good team player, only one person truly accepted her despite her lack of skill with a soccer ball. A year later when she was 13, she was stalked by a mystery man for two days. This has impacted the way she feels when she is alone. It has affected her in the way where she is now aware of all that is around her when she is in public alone. She has also gained from this experience. She learned how to defend herself. A couple months after this incident, her cat, Capone, which she had grown up with and was her grandpa's cat, passed away because of jaundice. This caused her to fall into what felt like a mild depression because she couldn't find anything to cheer her up. This continued only for a few months because a couple of her parent's friends found a 3month old kitten and needed someone to take it in. They gave the kitten to Becky. She named this kitten Patches, because of the black patches on his white body. At first he was

a sweet kitten, but quickly showed his true colors, in which Becky has dubbed him “the possessed schizophrenic-bipolar cat”. Despite this, she has learned to love this cat. In 2007, she entered high school. This made her excited but a little scared at the same time because this meant that she would only have a few more years with all of her friends, but also, that she was growing up and becoming an adult. At the beginning of her freshmen year of high school, Becky and a few of her friends decided to join the school's tennis team. Most of them are still on the same tennis team as her. In August of 2007, her great uncle whom she called Uncle Walt passed away. On May 25, 2009, Becky turned 16. This was one of her most memorable birthdays because she could finally learn how to drive. Unfortunately, her older brother decided to not wish her a happy birthday and this has made her resent him because only months before he had promised her he would be there and be a "true" brother. She hasn't talked to him since. About a month after her birthday, she received her permit and has been driving ever since. Becky’s aspiration exiting high school was to be a child psychologist. She chose this profession because she enjoys being around children, and they always use her a type of confidant about many things. In 2011, the 18 year old graduated high school with her friends. Although this was one of the happiest days of her life, it was also one of the saddest. This was it, it was probably the last time she would see a good portion of these people. Grant it there were a few classmates she would be happy to never see again, but this was still sad for her. She was also excited because she was going to be attending college in a few months. In September, Becky left the safe comfort of home, and went to college. At first she was nervous, but once she adjusted to the rigorous college life she felt at home. She

decided to follow through with majoring in psychology. Along with learning about the human mind, she also minored in photography. Specifically wildlife photography. In 8 years she graduated with her PhD in psychology. Not long after this graduation, Becky married her longtime boyfriend. A year later they had their first child, a boy. Three years after their son was born, they welcomed a daughter. Both were born healthy. Throughout the years, Becky has become a well established child psychologist. On her free time, she brings her family on small trips to take photographs, and to teach her children about the wonders of “capturing the moment, whether big or small”. Today she has a wonderful and caring family.

Notes ~I wasn’t completely sure of what to put for my future, so I avoided adding any real specific details. Like dates and college. Despite that, I am sure I’m going to be in college for about 8 years so I can get my PhD in psychology. I also felt I had to add photography somewhere because taking photographs is one of my favorite hobbies. ~
