Dye House Gallery Café Bar
Our University Centre offers a friendly and supportive learning environment. Compared to larger universities, you’ll benefit from smaller class sizes, open door tutor access, and continuous feedback; to us you’ll be a name, not a number. You’ll be based in a relaxed campus environment and benefit from great support. Many of our students praise the support we provide whether it’s information, advice and guidance, careers and progression, or financial support.
Our café bar, based within Lister Building, is a great relaxing spot to catch up with friends. You can purchase snacks and light lunches throughout the day and our on-site Costa outlet will fuel you up between lessons.
Dye House Gallery
Uni Centre Common Room
Formerly a full working dye house for the teaching of colouration and industrial dyeing processes, today, the gallery is an outstanding venue for art, performances, events, and conferences. This space hosts exhibitions and events throughout the year which are free of charge and open to both students and the public.
When you’re ready for a break from your studies, we’ve got a dedicated Uni Centre Common Room for you to chill out, have lunch, make yourself a brew, catch up with friends, or even carry on studying! There are lockers on hand to store your things, for when you don’t want to carry everything around all day. 12 12

School experience If you are applying for a teacher training course, gaining relevant classroom experience beforehand is essential. School experience will help you determine whether you are making the right career choice. Reflecting upon your experiences and why you think you will be a good teacher will be useful in writing your UCAS personal statement and at interview. Once you start a teacher training course, your previous experience will provide a foundation on which to build to link pedagogical theory to real-life practice in school.
We’re proud to work with a huge range of employers to offer you work placements, experience, industry expertise, and training opportunities. Many of our University Centre students go on to work for local, regional, national, and international employers, following the successful completion of their studies.
