“Spaceman” (2024)
Blast off on an out-of-this-world mission for love in the new sci-fi drama “Spaceman,” premiering Friday, March 1, on Netflix. Based on the novel “Spaceman of Bohemia” by Jaroslav Kalfar, the story centers on Jakub Prochazka (Adam Sandler, “Murder Mystery,” 2019), an astronaut who, six months into a solitary research mission to the very edge of our solar system, realizes that the marriage he left behind on Earth might be broken beyond repair, if it’s there for him to return to at all. Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Carey Mulligan, “Maestro,” 2023), Jakob finds help in the unlikeliest of places when he encounters Hanus (voiced by Paul Dano, “The Fabelmans,” 2022), a mysterious creature from the beginning of time, hiding deep in his ship. With Hanus’ help, Jakob works to uncover where exactly his marriage went wrong before it’s too late to salvage it at all. Directed by Johan Renck (“Chernobyl”) with a screenplay by Colby Day (“I Don’t Want to Kill Myself,” 2011), the film also stars Kunal Nayyar (“The Big Bang Theory”), Isabella Rossellini (“Julia”), Lena Olin (“Hunters”) and new talent Petr Papánek.
“Somebody Feed Phil” - Season 7
Everybody loves a food story, and “Everybody Loves Raymond” creator Phil Rosenthal loves to eat. Get back out on the road for a brand-new culinary adventure when Season 7 of “Somebody Feed Phil” premieres Friday, March 1, on Netflix. In the docuseries’ biggest, tastiest season yet, this time spanning eight episodes, Phil takes his tastebuds traveling through Mumbai, India; Washington, D.C.; Kyoto, Japan; Iceland; Dubai, U.A.E.; the “Real” Orlando, Florida; Taipei, Taiwan; and Scotland, “uncovering hidden gems and encountering the heart and soul of each city with each bite” (per Netflix). As Phil eats his way across the world, exploring the history and culture of his hosts and their homes, he “forges connections through the universal language of food, celebrating the joy of discovery [and] the shared experience of breaking bread together” (Netflix).
“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live”Season 1
Grab your weapons and keep on moving: The Walking Dead universe is expanding once more with the new spinoff series “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” premiering Sunday, Feb. 25, on AMC+. Set after the conclusion of “The Walking Dead,” this new series dives into the love story between original series characters Rick (Andrew Lincoln, “Love Actually,” 2003) and Michonne (Danai Gurira, “Black Panther,” 2018), who were kept apart by distance and an unstoppable power as the world changed rapidly around them. Now, in a world overrun by the undead, “can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?” (per AMC). Created for television by Gurira and Scott M. Gimple (“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”), “The Ones Who Live” also stars Terry O’Quinn (“Lost”), Lesley-Ann Brandt (“Lucifer”), Andrew Bachelor (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” 2018), Craig Tate (“King Richard,” 2021), Breeda Wool (“Mr. Mercedes”) and Pollyanna McIntosh (“Vikings: Valhalla”).
“Red Queen” – Season 1
What would you do if you were the smartest person on Earth? From creator Amaya Muruzabal (“Love Spells”), the all-new series, “Red Queen,” premieres Thursday, February 29, on Prime Video. With seven episodes in its inaugural season, this adaptation mirrors the first book in Juan Gómez-Jurado’s hit trilogy (“Reina Roja,” “Loba Negro” and “Rey Blanco”), starring Vicky Luengo (“Antidisturbios”) as the titular character, Antonia Scott. With an IQ of 242, Scott has officially been labeled the smartest person on the planet, leading her to a career as the “Red Queen” – the secret weapon of an underground, experimental police project. What began as a gift, however, soon turns sour, as Scott finds herself trapped in a twisted game of cat-and-mouse alongside a hot-tempered, charismatic cop, sent to push her skills into overdrive. A haunting thriller that twists and turns through the city of Madrid, “Red Queen” features a script written by Salvador Perpiñá (“Desconocidas”) and Muruzábal.
“Iwájú” - Season 1
Walt Disney Animation Studios teams up with Pan-African entertainment company, Kugali, to present a firstof-its-kind collaboration with the new animated series “Iwájú,” premiering Wednesday, Feb. 28, on Disney+. Set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria, this “coming-of-age story follows Tola, a young girl from the wealthy island, and her best friend, Kole, a self-taught tech expert, as they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds” (per Disney+). Inspired by the spirit of the city of Lagos, the series takes “viewers on a unique journey into the world of ‘Iwájú,’ bursting with unique visual elements and technological advancements” (Disney+). From Kugali filmmakers, including creator and director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, production designer Hamid Ibrahim (“The Lion King,” 2019) and cultural consultant Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku, the series is produced by Disney Animation’s Christina Chen (“Encanto,” 2021), with a screenplay by Adeola and Halima Hudson (“Big Hero 6,” 2014). Featuring the voices of Dayo Okeniyi (“Rise,” 2022), Femi Branch (“Késárí the King,” 2023), Weruche Opia (“I May Destroy You”) and new talents Simisola Gbadamosi and Siji Soetan.
“Dino Ranch” – Season 3, New Episodes
There’s always adventure, so Dino ranchers ride. Prepare your saddles, lassos and cowboy hats, as the first eleven episodes from Season 3 of the beloved, animated series, “Dino Ranch,” are coming to Disney+, available to stream on Wednesday, February 28. Home to the tight-knit, loving and fun Cassidy family, the Dino Ranch acts as a working farm and sanctuary for nearby dinosaurs in need of care, run by Pa and Ma, alongside their three kids: Jon, Min and Miguel. Each member of the family pairs with their own dinosaur familiar, including Jon’s raptor, Blitz, Min’s big-hearted Brontosaurus, Clover, and Miguel’s tiny triceratops, Tango, as the three young Cassidys learn the ropes of their parent’s prehistoric profession, discovering the thrills and challenges of ranch life. The new episodes follow the trio of kids as they welcome a new dinosaur to the ranch – a freshly hatched Ankylosaur that sends Jon and Blitz into a scramble, soon turning the farm upside down – then raising their new friend alongside the Dino Mites. Through dinosaur drives, rescue missions, wiggly teeth and endless mischief, Jon, Min and Miguel learn how to work together (and work in tandem with the nature surrounding them), always respecting their creature companions.
“Me, Hereafter”
ABC News Studios presents the thrilling new true crime series “Me, Hereafter,” premiering Thursday, Feb. 29, on Hulu. Told from the point of view of the murder victims, this genre-bending docu-drama blends together never-before-seen investigative footage, poignant interviews with those closest to the victims and riveting dramatic scenes to guide the audience through the case one detail, clue, alibi and twist at a time. Over the course of the series’ four-episode run, it looks at cases including: “the mysterious disappearance of a young pregnant woman mere feet from her family’s apartment; the seemingly random and senseless murder of a successful real estate agent and mother of two; the frantic search for a woman feared lost in a blizzard, and her sister’s determined quest for the truth; and the beloved funeral director and his intern shot and killed inside their funeral home, and the shocking suspect police say was the killer” (per ABC News Studios). “Me, Hereafter” is executive produced by Andy Awes (“In an Instant”) and Maria Awes (“America Unearthed”) for Committee Films, and senior executive producer David Sloan (“20/20) and senior producer Eamon McNiff (“The Informant: Fear and Faith in the Heartland,” 2021) for ABC News Studios.
“Those Who Wish Me Dead” (2021) Angelina Jolie (“Maleficent,” 2014) leads action thriller “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” which makes its Hulu debut Wednesday, Feb. 28. The film follows Hannah Faber (Jolie), a smokejumper working out of a fire lookout tower in Park County, Mont. When Hannah finds Connor Casserly (Finn Little, “Yellowstone”), a young bog that just witnessed the assassination of his father, while out on patrol, she quickly becomes a target of the assassins now hunting Connor. In order to simultaneously preoccupy emergency services and smoke out their targets, the assassins set fire to the forest. As the fire quickly spreads, can Hannah protect Connor from both the assassins and the encroaching forest fire? Directed by Taylor Sheridan (“Yellowstone”) and written by Michael Koryta (“So Cold the River,” 2022), Charles Leavitt (“Blood Diamond,” 2006) and Sheridan, “Those Who Wish Me Dead” also stars Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher”), Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones”), Nicholas Hoult (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” 2015), Jake Weber (“Medium”), Medina Senghore (“Happy!”), Tyler Perry (“Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” 2005), Boots Southerland (“No Country for Old Men,” 2007), Tory Kittles (“Colony”) and James Jordan (“Mayor of Kingstown”).
