Get a taste of romance when Season 2 of “Modern Love” comes to Prime on Friday, Aug. 13. An anthology romance series, this Amazon Original is based on the New York Times’ article of the same name, which explores relationships, love and human connection. Exploring love in all its many forms, each season is made up of eight halfhour episodes that look at platonic, familial, romantic and self-love in a series of heartwarming stories. From creator, writer and director John Carney (“Sing Street,” 2016), this series features a rotating cast of familiar faces, including Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), Anne Hathaway (“Les Misérables,” 2012), Dev Patel (“Lion,” 2016), Andy Garcia (“Ocean’s Eleven,” 2001), Andrew Scott (“Sherlock”), Tobias Menzies (“Outlander”), Sofia Boutella (“Kingsman: The Secret Service,” 2014), Olivia Cooke (“Ready Player One,” 2018) and Julia Garner (“Ozark”) among many others.
“Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time” (2021)
The Neon Genesis franchise brings an all-new film, “Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time,” to Prime this Friday, Aug. 13. This Japanese sci-fi animated film is the fourth and final installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion film series and follows Shinji Ikari (Megumi Ogata, “Sailor Moon”), who has lost his will to live and is still completely despondent. When Shinji, Asuka Shikinami Langley (Yuko Miyamura, “Detective Conan”) and Rei Ayanami (Megumi Hayashibara, “Neon Genesis Evangelion”) discover a settlement made up of survivors, they start to regain the hope they need to make a final stand and set things right. From director and writer Hideaki Anno (“The Wind Rises,” 2013), the film is co-directed by Mahiro Maeda (“The Animatrix,” 2003), Katsuichi Nakayama (“Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory”) and Kazuya Tsurumaki (“Neon Genesis Evangelion”).

“Beckett” (2021)
Prepare to grip the edge of your seat with the release of “Beckett,”
the new thriller from director and writer Ferdinando Cito Filomarino (“Antonia,” 2015), coming to Netflix this Friday, Aug. 13. John David Washington (“BlacKkKlansman,” 2018) stars as Beckett, an American tourist in Greece. When he becomes the target of a manhunt after suffering a devastating car accident, Beckett is forced to make a desperate sprint for the American Embassy and safely escape the country. With an abundance of political unrest and with authorities closing in, Beckett gets pulled deeper into a twisted web of conspiracies. Alicia Vikander (“The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” 2015), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan,” 2017) and Vicky Krieps (“Phantom Thread,” 2017) also star.
“Gone for Good”
Settle in for a mystery with “Gone for Good,” the new limited series coming to Netflix on Friday, Aug. 13. Based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Harlan Coben, this chilling crime story follows Guillaume (Finnegan Oldfield, “Nocturama,” 2016) 10 years after a tragedy that took the lives of the two people he loved the most. Finally feeling like he’s able to move on with his new love, Judith (Nailia Harzoune, “Step by Step,” 2016), Guillaume’s world spirals into another heart-wrenching mystery when Judith suddenly disappears. While looking into the case, Guillaume finds dark secrets he could never have anticipated — some new and some a decade old. “Valeria” - Season 2
Don’t miss the Season 2 premiere of “Valeria,” debuting on Netflix this Friday, Aug. 13. Based on the novels by Elisabet Benavent, this Spanish-language dramedy is a heartwarming exploration of friendship and self-discovery.
Starring Diana Gómez (“Money Heist”) as Valeria, a writer who feels as though something in her life is missing, the series follows Valeria and her friends in Madrid as they support each other through their journeys of self-discovery.

It’s been a year since the death of their friend, and now the group spend their days committing crime — and fighting it — to fund their escape from their rural home. Elva Guerra (“Rutherford Falls”), Sarah Podemski (“Tin Star”), D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (“Beans,” 2020), Devery Jacobs (“American Gods”) and Paulina Alexis (“Beans,” 2020) star in the series.
“Homeroom” (2021)
Get a look into the lives of public school students with “Homeroom,” the new original documentary coming to Hulu on Thursday, Aug. 12. This film is the third and final installment in producer and director Peter Nicks’s (“Exposé: America’s Investigative Reports”) Oakland trilogy of documentary films, preceded by “The Waiting Room” (2012) and “The Force” (2017). This newest
film follows the class of 2020 at Oakland High School as they navigate their final year in the midst of a global pandemic, the George Floyd protests and district budget cuts. Using Oakland as a case study, this film explores the state of the American public school system and its ability to support its students and to prepare young people for adulthood. “Homeroom” is written by Nicks, alongside Sean Havey (“The Force,” 2017) and Kristina Motwani (“Independent Lens”).

“What If…?” - Season 1
Tune in for another Marvel hit when the new animated series “What If...?” makes its way on to Disney+ on Wednesday, Aug. 11. The series explores pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s many films, reimagining the endings and sending fans into all-new, completely uncharted territory. At the time of writing, Disney was still holding the episode topics close to the vest, but fans can start with one tantalizing teaser for the first episode: what if Peggy Carter had taken the Super Soldier Serum at the beginning of World War II
instead of Steve Rogers? In this reimagining of the MCU’s stories, one small question changes everything. The series will feature the voices of many of the MCU film’s stars, including Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” 2011), Chris Hemsworth (“Thor,” 2011), Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”), Samuel L.
