HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS
Kringle Market features local artists
The Crossing Arts Alliance’s holiday art market, Kringle Market, opened Saturday, Nov. 10, and will be open through December. The market contains arts and fine crafts created by area artists. Kringle Market is located at the TCAA building, 711 Laurel St., Brainerd. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
Christmas for Vets is a nonprofit organization that recognizes all veterans in five Pequot Lakes area cemeteries during the holiday season when Christmas wreaths are placed on veterans’ gravesites in December in honorary remembrance of those who served. The local cemeteries are Our Savior’s, Pequot Lakes City, Jenkins, Stony Brook and Kedron. The organization requests a $15 donation from family members of veterans to offset the cost of the stake and wreath. Local businesses and individuals are also asked for contributions since many veterans no longer have family to contribute and no veteran is omitted. Wreaths will be placed at noon Saturday, Dec. 8. Volunteers are always needed with more than 300 veteran graves to be decorated. Volunteers are asked to gather at the west side of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where the wreaths will be ready for distribution. An open house and tour of the Pequot Lakes Historical Museum at 1 p.m. will follow with coffee, cider and cookies provided to the public and volunteers. Everyone is welcome. To contribute to this project, send donations to: Submitted Photo Christmas for Vets, 31018 Rasmussen Road, #205, Wreaths decorate the gravesites of deceased Pequot Lakes veterans as Pequot Lakes, MN 56472. part of the Christmas for Vets program. 001795535r1

Madrigal dinner in 2017.
Brainerd High School Madrigal Dinner planned
B
rainerd High School A Cappella Choir will host its annual Madrigal Dinners Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 1 at the Legacy Golf Course Clubhouse Pavilion on Highway 77, north of Brainerd. The dinner concert will encompass a full concert of Christmas music and carols, a four-course meal, a short play with a court jester and actors, recorders, beggars, carolers and costumes for 70 people. “Take the Thanksgiving break out of the calendar and we have three and a half weeks to pull this off,” Brian Stubbs, A Cappella director, stated in a news release. “It’s a crazy time with a flurry of activity to get this thing on its feet. What amazes me is by the second night of performance
the kids run the entire show and I have nothing to do.” The night is divided into sections, beginning with a Wassail social, where guests mill and visit with each other and the students while drinking wassail and eating some hors d’oeuvres. Guests are directed by the town crier to the dinner hall and the meal is served with a trumpet fanfare and song announcing each course. The court jester will be on hand after dessert to entertain the entire room with humor and wit. Finally, the room is surrounded by 70 singers and a short concert is sung, in the round. Tickets are $35 and seating is reserved. Tickets are available only
through the www.brainerdmusic.org website, and are available up to 24
hours prior to the event, so food can be planned for each night.

Christmas at the Mansions opens Nov. 23 LITTLE FALLS — The annual Christmas at the Mansions holiday event is coming and will run daily from Nov. 23 through Dec. 2 at Linden Hill historic estate, 608 Highland Ave, Little Falls. Both of the mansions — the Weyerhaeuser and Musser — were built in 1898 and will be
decorated with a “Holly Jolly Christmas” theme and open for self-guided tours. Between the two mansions there will be decorated rooms with volunteers in many of the rooms to help tell the story of the two lumber magnate families who once lived in these mansions, the
Weyerhaeuser and Musser families. Of these two homes, the Weyerhaeuser mansion is open in the summer for guided tours and the Musser mansion is typically used as a conference/event center and lodging thus closed to tours, so it is a rare opportunity to view both mansions in the wintertime.
Cookies and hot cider will be available for guests. Christmas at the Mansions tours will run from 1-7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Adult tickets are $12, students aged 12-17 are $5 and children 11 and under are free. Families and groups of all
sizes and ages are welcome. For more information call 320-616-5580 or email info@ linden-hill.org or go online at www.linden-hill.org. This event supports the ongoing care, preservation and operations of the Linden Hill.
Silent Night, Holy Night Adult & Teen Challenge Brainerd Christmas Concert set Christmas Concert set Dec. 2 Two Christmas concerts featuring the Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge Brainerd Choir are planned at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 at Heritage Church in Baxter. Refreshments follow
the concert. This is a freewill offering event. Join the group for an evening of songs and testimonies. The event includes an annual Christmas toy drive. Participants may bring new and gently
used toys to the concerts. They are distributed to the children of current clients. Go to https://www. mntc.org/event/brainerd-christmas/ for more information.
Jaime Jorge presents a free, family friendly Christmas concert Silent Night, Holy Night with a special appearance by Lake Region Christian School’s young musicians. The event includes a Christmas open house from 3-4 p.m. with the concert from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at First Baptist
Church, 7398 Fairview Road N., Baxter. “Experience a renewed sense of hope as you discover the joy of Christ in Christmas,” organizers stated. Donations will be accepted to support Lake Region Christian School Education Foundation, a partner fund of the Initiative Foundation. Donations are tax-deductible.
