ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHT Brandon Hurst is thrilled to be a part of the Baltimore community as Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Inner Harbor. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Brandon also lived in Chicago before moving to “Charm City”. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Alabama State University (2010) and a master's in finance from DeVry University (2012). With over 10 years of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, Brandon is passionate about serving others, not only in the restaurant, but also within the community. He is involved in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, both of which focus on community service, advancement of youth education, financial responsibility, and building tomorrow's leaders. Brandon opened the Inner Harbor location in April of 2015. When it comes to selecting his team, Brandon Hurst faces some unique talent challenges. Despite these challenges, he does whatever he can to recruit and retain the best Team Members in town to live out his mission, “Create an oasis of hospitality,” for both his Guests and his Team Members. Brandon’s Director of Talent and Engagement specifically oversees Team Member development, the selection process and people systems as well as serve as an unofficial life coach for the team. Brandon’s most important step in his people strategy is his recruitment process. He divides his main talent pools into four areas that they regularly invest in to help them find the best people: . Traditional channels . Local schools . Community organizations . In-Restaurant events To help him find and select wonderful people for his team, Brandon and his leaders created a three-step interview process around these three Cs: character, competency and chemistry. .Group Interview – To consider whether or not candidates would have chemistry with the existing team. .Interview with Manager – To drive deeper with candidates and uncover competency and work experience. 3. Interview with Brandon – To assess a candidate’s character. Brandon and his team are committed to providing a welcoming, friendly and clean environment for you to enjoy a great meal. They strive to develop lasting relationships with customers and are always willing to go the second mile to ensure you comfort and satisfaction.
