Welcome to the 16th Magnolia Classic Sale! Once again we are extremely pleased to welcome our guest consignors. They help to make The Magnolia Classic possible. As you turn the pages of this catalog you will find sale offerings that will fit into almost any breeding program. The offering includes 49 bred heifers, 10 open heifers, 2 embryo pregnancies, 3 bred cows, 5 cow/calf pairs, 5 bulls, 1 flush and 18 semen lots. Come and buy with confidence. The cattle are ready to go to work for you. If you are unable to be with us, register to bid online at www.dvauction.com. We welcome your participation. This past year has been a year of transition for Mary Cheek and me. We purchased our first Fleckvieh heifers in 1993 and have thoroughly enjoyed building our herd and the Little Creek name. From the beginning our goal has been to have functional cattle that will work not only for us, but for our customers as well. When we began our cattle journey I told Mary Cheek that she was going to meet some of the best people in the world. She has and I have thoroughly enjoyed renewing old and forming new lifetime friendships. That being said, we have decided to dedicate more of ourselves to each other. Our bucket list is overflowing and with the Lord’s help maybe we will write “Fulfilled” by many of the items. Little Creek Farm is not going away! The Gress family is going to continue the Little Creek brand. Some of you will remember that Jason began his association with Little Creek while he was a student at Mississippi State. Mary Cheek and I look forward to the continued enhancement of Little Creek Fleckvieh cattle as the Gress’ pursue their goal of producing functional seed stock. It has been a great ride. Thank you!

• Wow! Look at the power exhibited by this female! She surely lives up to the numbers she possesses! Top 1% Yearling Weight and Top 2% Weaning Weight, but still made appropriately to pass along calving ease. Couple these, and the calf she is carrying, and you are looking at a very sound, long term investment! Definite herd-building material. Expect a good opportunity for a polled calf that should come easy, put on the pounds early, and certainly have the potential to be a performer in the showring! Brantz calves are consistently, correctly structured, and certainly have the eye appeal.

• A little different twist of pedigree here, with the result being a heifer that is stacked with tried and true genetics, and numbers that are sure to match up with virtually any mating. This female has brood cow written all over her! Honestly, she should be in the keeper pen, but we can’t keep them all, especially with the variety of young stock we have in the pipeline! She is confirmed safe to her AI breeding for a potentially polled calf, that is sure to be a breeding piece, heifer or bull!

• Another heifer with a little different pedigree. A solid heifer in her make, she should perform nicely as a mature female. Dacia has been confirmed safe pregnant to our herd bull, Little Creek Caden C117, who is very well supported by pedigree. He is a full sibling to VPFS Callie 10C, that did so well in the showring and is doing well in production. Caden is out of the HGF Miss Sabargon S613 cow that has been a top producer for us, and Crossroad Radium 789U. Here is an opportunity to improve your herd, not only now, but certainly in the future.

• Available for your consideration is another example of a future brood cow. LCF 421D goes back to a herd matron that walked the pastures at Little Creek for many years, that being Little Creek Lyda 206L (Hasalz x BEL C&B Western 2nd x Overhall Hivy). Needless to say, this female is stacked with performance, while still possessing very respectable Calving Ease and Birth Weight numbers. Punch in the mating for the calf she is carrying, and you have 2 generations of herd builders with 1 purchase! The numbers are quite attractive.

• Here may be one of the better heifers on offering. This female holds her own with respect to balance, smoothness if shoulder, rib shape/capacity, and most definitely, structure of her back 1/3. She typifies what we believe we should be looking for in a functional female, all in a moderately framed package. As an added bonus, her 27Z calf injects another flavor of tried and true genetics that can still be very relevant!
• The concept of “You can’t keep them all” comes to mind here. However, this may be one where we should have made an exception. Here is another example of a complete package. She balances out extremely well...good shouldered, very good hipped, and the middle third dimensions that should lend to 437D being a very efficient converter. Finally, the best part of this offering, she has been checked safe to AI with Female sexed Brantz semen! Look at her close...maybe one of the better prospects!?

• In putting on a sale, you have to swallow hard from time to time, in particular when it comes to your offering. This heifer has forced one of those moments. Why would we decide to sell a polled heifer of this quality, that was bred and confirmed pregnant to Female sexed Brantz semen!? The answer is, we are confident that this female, and her calf, can make a difference in any herd. Our herd was, in part, built under similar circumstances, with established breeders offering some of their best. We mean to do the same! Study her numbers and the growth potential she shows. Certainly don’t forget about the potentially polled, maybe homozygous polled, calf she’s carrying. Solid breeding...legitimate prospect.

• As with LCF 421D, a female with a pedigree reading the likes of LCF 206L should attract traditional Fleck breeders with an interest in “Original” breeding, but can still be considered relative enough to match up with many of the bulls currently being used! • Functional female? You bet! Dana is another one of those females that gets lost in this pen of heifers. No, not because she’s a bad heifer, but because these heifers are so consistent. Appreciate her as a well-balanced heifer, with good transitions from neck to shoulder, and shoulder to her middle 1/3. Here is a good genetic package, that is pleasing to the eye. Be sure to appreciate what she’s carrying!...Consistency from south of the boarder, matched with consistency from the North!

• Here you have it! The Diamond in the Rough, and the Rough is pretty darn good! This “Diamond” is one of our genetic prospects...that different twist to grab your attention. Dazzle is the product of a flush, mating Little Creek Zuri 515Z (a former NAILE Junior Heifer Grand Champion) to Argonne. This heifer surely gives that “Traditional” profile... she just looks Fleck. Expect a shot of milk into your program, with more than enough performance. Bred to Brantz for added consistency, flexibility, and a chance for Polled genetics.

• OK, many enjoy baseball here around Mississippi State. Well, here’s Little Creek’s version of a “curve ball.” The choice was made to flush one of our show string heifers in conjunction with breeding for some in this pen of heifers. The result was a very successful flush of Little Creek Dasha 473D x Starwest Pol Blueprint. Check out the numbers for this mating! You won’t find much closer to a complete package than the calf this quality heifer is carrying! Built in CE, WW, YW, Milk, API, TI, and especially Docility...a main criteria/reason for culling here at Little Creek. 487D is a respectable heifer in her own right. • Is there ever too much of a good thing? Well, maybe, but not here. This female pieces together her share of good qualities into a very nice package. First, this heifer is stacked with pedigree, put together by BHR. She is bred to have PLENTY of “GO”, following calving numbers that are quite modest. Add in the bonus that she is polled! This is another one of those females that could have very easily stayed in our herd, but here she is...bred to Blueprint. Add it up, a quality heifer, stacked with pedigree, stacked with numbers, good structure, AND bred to a high quality polled bull! There should be plenty that are “All In” on this heifer!

• This heifer’s mating has been repeated at Little Creek for a handful of years. The idea, or theme, of “cookie cutter” comes to mind. Little Creek Zelle 12X has been consistent for us here at Little Creek. Her heifers have been consistent in their make, which has been consistently high quality. No lack of pedigree here either, this heifer goes back to Horch, and Hamlet/Rickardstown Jumbo. Emily is bred to PSF Hercules, a bull brought down from Plaugher Simmentals. For those that don’t know, Randy has one of the most original herds in the US. He built his herd on proven bulls relying heavily on A.I. Hercules, out of a 3Rs Hannable cow, was a standout in a group of very consistent bull calves. He exemplifies Fleckvieh qualities. Expect a high quality calf, bred Fleckvieh to the T.

• Study this heifer, and she should come to the top of your list of picks. Erin 19E elevates herself toward the top of a pen of females with abundant quality. Her dam, Little Creek Zelle 6X, has consistently been a top producer. One is hard pressed to flaw this heifer, she has the bone structure, the rib shape, and the femininity to set her apart. Heck, she should be wearing a halter!...But, don’t tell Nikki that, she’ll want to take her, and 10 more head of these heifers, to the NAILE show in Louisville! • LCF 25E...A true Fleckvieh female, just starting to blossom. This heifer, like many of her pen mates, just puts it together. However, 25E, in my opinion, excels with respect to femininity. She’s big middled, and structurally correct, but holds an advantage of type over some of her contemporaries. We bred Elissa 25E to Radium to sure up her CE and BW numbers. Additionally, Radium (and his offspring) do a good job infusing docility into the pedigree, which is very important to us...a criteria of mating here at Little Creek.

• Back in 2013, this heifer’s dam was taken on the road and campaigned as an example of Fleck-Effect mating. In 2015, her sire, VPFS Brantz was on the road representing Full Flecks at numerous venues (often pitted against Purebreds), and he held his own quite well. We put the two together, and came up with this pretty darn good 3/4 Fleck female. Appreciate the power, the capacity this heifer possesses, while still looking fresh and quite feminine in her appearance. She is bred for a 7/8 Fleck calf, but take her any way you wish with the next mating. A commercial cow maker right here!

• RPF D15 settled on her first A.I. She was never exposed to a bull. She was in my group for replacement heifers. She lost her dam when she was 76 days old. Very rough start for a young calf but still turned out to be a very good heifer. I thought I would give another breeder the opportunity to carry on 834R genetics.

• Another outstanding matron prospect for your consideration from Red Oak Farm. Colored right, and plenty of eye pigment, this heifer puts many desirable qualities together. Appreciate the bone, the natural thickness of this female, with enough softness to her make to be functional. Della is backed up by decades of Fleckvieh breeding...Little Creek Xpress, Blume, Romulus, BEL Helga 9th. Della comes off a cow that is still in production at 15 years of age, proving the built in longevity. Bred to VPFS Brantz, this calf is destined to also be a valuable addition to any herd!
• RPF D27 is a very popular cross between German and South African genetics which was once the most desired crosses in the fullbloods and they had it all! Top performance, good looks, polled and red. This one happens to be red headed and polled.

This paternal sister to the 2017 Magnolia Classic high-seller, sired by FSS Maximus, brightens her appeal. Her dam was a feature bred show heifer at the 2016 NAILE as well. Maternally, sired by the outcross polled sire Willow Oaks Stein over a stout Brink Koba R550 daughter adds even more appeal. Based cow family of the donor K2 Andrea stemming to Sim-Roc Gwen, deeply concretes the genetics to the core. 7031E was scurred and they were removed for cosmetic purposes only. • TSSF Livie E-188 is an excellent heifer, very good conformation and polled. She is halter broke to boot. She will be open for the breeder to be able to flush, if desired. She has excellent growth, color, disposition and will be a contribution to any program. BHR Imperial A855 needs no introduction to the Fleckvieh breed. She had a half sister that went to Canada at the 2017 Magnolia Classic. She will, without a doubt, work for a progressive breeder. She is good. Don’t miss her. She is classy.

• Looking at 571R, what comes to mind? For me, it’s growth potential, and plenty of it! This cow has the structure and the mass to add pound carrying capacity to your herd. She carries herself very well for a mature cow, proof of the quality of leg and foot she possesses. 571R has been a consistent breeder, and settled first service AI this year...and boy what a gem she’s carrying. Look for a Blueprint calf that should be super stout, good boned, and potentially polled. Add a good blend of new and old with this purchase!

• Here you go Southern Producers, an opportunity for proven Simbrah/Fleckvieh influenced genetics! This opportunity comes to you from a collaborative effort of sorts between Mark and Alan Smith, and Little Creek Farm. The offspring we have on the ground from this flush mating have been nothing short of impressive. Appreciate the mass of this polled bull calf, while still showing a softness of the shoulder that may lend to him suitable for heifers and cows alike. Imagine the females! An added bonus...this recipient female, that in many herds, would be quite suitable of adding quality from her own mating. She has served Little Creek well, and will do well raising this genetic breeding piece she’s carrying!

• For your consideration, this embryo pregnancy, that is an outcross to genetics that you’ll find at Little Creek, and quite possibly elsewhere in the U.S. The mating does a fine job combining pedigrees that have been developed by a few notable Fleckvieh programs. The numbers are quite attractive and should do well to bolster any program. Marjorie genetics are limited, as she is no longer in production. So, purchase with confidence, knowing this addition will add genetics no can longer be repeated. As an added bonus, look for this recipient female to do well raising quality calves, embryo transfer or her own.

• Deja was a feature and high selling female at the BHR Designer Classic in 2015. Her incredible femininity, peak polled head, sound feet and structure, and EPD format is second to none. Since entering production, phenotypically she demonstrates the genotype she was forecasted to be. Her tidy udder and small teats with rich milk flow is realized in her strapping calves. This is the first opportunity to purchase a flush from Deja. • Offering one conventional flush, guaranteeing a minimum of 6 embryos. You choose the mating and reap the benefits of the entire flush. Expenses for flushing is the responsibility of the buyer. Currently, she is in calf and due in January. Flush to be performed in the Spring 2019.

Triple Z Simmental Farms
• If you are looking for a polled Fleckvieh bull that has an elite pedigree that is blended with South African and German genetics and is stacked with performance, take a good look at Triple Z Simmental Farms’ consignment. Cullen’s pedigree is primarily Buzzard Hollow influenced with a bit of Little Creek on the maternal side. Study the pedigree and you will find the maternal influence of Congosim Susi, Lady Tugela, Lettmairs Elsa, and LCF Winsome 690W, all of which demonstrate longevity and quality offspring. Here is your next herdsire.

• RPF Boaz D20 looks like it’s going to be one of the best herd sires or A.I. sires that Phillips Farms has ever produced. I looked for a bull for 2 ½ months to stop the aggravation of A.I. and couldn’t find it. So, I put D20 to work at 16 months old. Most of my heifers carry his service with a 17 inch rib eye testing and performance to put him in the elite performance of the fullbloods.

• Fleckvieh breed standard, that is what comes to mind when appreciating this junior herdsire. In addition to portraying how Fleckvieh bulls are supposed to look, this bull shows how versatility should look. He balances out from nose to tail, possesses good length of neck, ties in well at the shoulder, has very attractive rib shape, and carries enough mass to carry the pounds. Study his make, and see the consistency his sire passes, most notably shape and smoothness of shoulder. Hercules proved himself as a cleanup bull at Little Creek last season, being used on select heifers and mature cows. We look forward to seeing how these 3RS Hannable influenced calves look!

• Another quality bull from Plaugher Simmentals...PSF Samson 867E comes from a herd stacked with pedigree. Represented are lines not commonly found anymore...Panzer, Solway Adonis, Bigfoot, and Siegfried. Studied carefully, I believe you can appreciate some of the qualities passed by those bulls coming out in this quality male. Samson is rugged enough to put quality pounds on any cow, but still smooth enough made to make the calves eye appealing. Don’t forget temperament! Samson, and his 2 contemporaries, are halter broke, and have plenty of show miles on them! Versatility, docility, and quality... that’s how he’s bred.

• Here is a high quality polled bull for your consideration. Appreciate the natural thickness of this bull, a trait not necessarily found with polled bull prospects. McGregor, like his penmates, is bred for versatility. He can be used with confidence on commercial, purebred, or fullblood Simmental females. True to his pedigree, he was calved out easily, and added flesh quickly. There is no reason why this bull should not rival his sire’s performance when used on commercial type females (an added 46lbs WW with no additional management). If Little Creek didn’t already have polled herdsire prospects for use, this bull would stay in Starkville.

• We offer Crossroad Radium 789U for your consideration in your next heifer or cow mating. We believe that Radium is the bull to use in any situation, and it would appear that we are in good company with numerous other Canadian and U.S. breeders using him on heifers and mature females. In fact, there are over 400 animals registered with the Canadian Simmental Association sired by Radium. Radium makes high quality females and bulls, stamping them consistently with extremely correct conformation, spring of rib, and that style that catches your eye in the pasture or the show ring. Radium offspring continue to sell well in Canada and the U.S., demanding top dollar and he continues to be a “Go-to” bull when breeding heifers. He is a proven calving ease specialist. • Jason Gress and Antietam Valley Farm continue to be the sole marketers in the U.S. for the semen on this proven bull.

• Little Creek Zeus 139Z is one of three individuals we were fortunate to get out of five embryos we purchased from Rick Batty of Wyecrest Simmentals. The other bull walked in a herd in Indiana and the heifer walked the pastures of Little Creek. The dominant feature of Zeus’ pedigree is his dam who was productive while 17 years old. Zeus was selected to stay at Little Creek, but Mason talked me into letting him walk with the Faulkner cows. Good decision on Mason’s part. He has sired calves that will make you smile when you look at them. His heifers are destined to be a significant part of the Faulkner herd.
