PICKING CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR WHEN TRAVELING CARRY-ON ONLY

When traveling with just a carry-on bag, travelers need to be selective about the clothing and footwear that they carry. By making considered choices, it is more than possible to squeeze a week or two’s worth of clothing into a carry-on bag.

Packing versatile shoes is the best way to save space when it comes to footwear.

Clothing to Layer Packing multiple items of clothing that can be layered when cold takes up a lot less space than carrying a bulky coat, for example. On top of saving on space, packing clothing that layers well will also offer more outfit choices during a trip. When it is warm, simply opt for a tank top or t-shirt. If it is cold, layer up the tops with sweaters or mid-layers.

Bulky On-Board Outfit If you cannot avoid taking something bulky, make it part of your on-board outfit. Wearing heavy, bulky items onto the plane will save a lot of bag space, and while it might be hot at first, travelers can simply drop the outer layers and carry them once they are on the plane.

Footwear Packing versatile shoes is the best way to save space when it comes to footwear. Two pairs of shoes should be plenty. Pack a comfortable pair for walking or activities during the day, and a second pair that are casual yet can be dressed up for dinner. If heading to the beach, swap the second pair of shoes for sandals or flip-flops.
