As well as being the birthplace of the American national anthem and home to some well-known sports stars, the city has also witnessed numerous sporting moments that will forever remain etched in its history books.

A FEW YEARS AFTER THE RAVENS TEAM WAS ESTABLISHED, IT REACHED THE SUPER BOWL IN 2000, DOMINATING THE NEW YORK GIANTS TEAM AT RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM IN TAMPA, FLORIDA TO WIN THE LOMBARDI TROPHY. Michael Phelps at the 2008 Olympics Baltimore native Michael Phelps had a memorable Olympics in 2008, winning a gold medal in each of the eight events he participated in. He also broke an Olympic record in one event and seven world records. It was one of the most dominant performances in sports history.
The Ravens Come to Town Baltimore had been passed over by the National Football League (NFL) as a home to an expansion team. The options for a professional football team weren’t looking good until Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell announced he would be moving his team to Baltimore. While the team had to move with only front office staff and players, it soon established a reputation for its terrific defense, held in place by the first two draft picks for the new Baltimore Ravens: Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis.
