hile the effect of the pandemic on local economies is clear, other sectors are also reeling. The sports community, in particular, is greatly impacted. Sports leagues have been suspended, training facilities and fitness centers closed, and competitive events at all levels put on hold. Teams, athletes, coaches and other stakeholders have had to develop contingency plans, and media broadcasters have resorted to other content to fill the place of sports coverage.

OVERCOMING THE DISCOURAGEMENT Amid all the uncertainty, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged at the turn of events. The constant flow of information, most of it related to the disease, can increase concerns over its effects. For many people, the mental and emotional toll brought about by a change in routine and the uncertainty can be draining. Acknowledging these emotions and working to understand them is significant in overcoming the discouragement. Anticipate that these feelings will change over time, and work to address physical, mental and physiological needs.
