Global Magazine Objective Hugo Kahn Brazilian Ambassador

The Global Magazine wasn’t a project created by only one person. We were planning, discussing and formalizing the magazine since 2014. therefore many people contributed and dreamed together. Usually I like to say that the global magazine isn’t a simple magazine, but a first step to connect our network on a global scale. The Junior Enterprise Movement is creating an important output to society, education and economy since 1967 with a huge entrepreneurial spirit from thousands of students. However we still need to involve this spirit on a global scale and to develop our results and improve our connection. The Global Magazine is just one of many projects that Brasil Júnior and JADE are creating with the aim to explore our international relations and foster a truly Global Network. I hope you all enjoy the first edition of the magazine. It was made for you (Junior Entrepreneurs) and all the people who support and encourage our purpose.

enlargement T

he International expansion is gaining more prominence. This year Brasil Júnior has managed to obtain great results and highlight in the continents in which it operates - the Americas and Asia. Every effort to expand the Junior Enterprise Movement around the world is reinforced by the existence of two major programs to encourage international expansion: The Promoters Program and Godmothers Program. Promoters through the program can do an exchange without leaving the Junior Enterprise Movement, since its function is to promote the JE concept in the country where they are and try to open an JE there. We at Brasil Júnior and JADE give our full support to make this dream come true. In addition, we have the Godmothers program where an experienced JE with expertise in some activities will give aid to a JE who is still being developed and needs support, materials and monitoring. You can help in every way to expand the concept that has conquered the world more and more: The Junior Enterprise Movement.

5 The Global Forum has the main objective of get together young leaders from many countries to discuss about the strategy of the network and the development opportunities. What we should expect for the next Global Forum in JEWC 2016? “We believe that the mission of the Junior Enterprise Movement is to develop the professional skills – soft, technical and entrepreneurial – of students around the globe, to connect them and support their development, thus increasing their social impact.” Following this concept of the JE global mission, it’s important to think that we, as Junior Entrepreneurs, must unite our strengths and work for a better integrated and sustainable network.

And how can we achieve that?

1 2 3 4

Representing and endorsing the Junior Enterprise Concept as a global movement in our countries. Promoting and acting towards sustainable growth of the Junior Enterprise Network worldwide. Encouraging and facilitating a deeper integration and more active interaction of the existing Junior Enterprises and national and international Federations and Confederations of Junior Enterprises. Promoting the Junior Enterprise Concept to third parties – both nationally and internationally – and encourage the active role of Junior Enterprises as part of the business ecosystem.

The JE Global strategy moves what the Junior Enterprise Network wants to achieve and represents the purpose of an Youth Entrepreneurial Movement that prepare students for a better professional life and to impact the society/economy with their actions. Looking at this point and thinking about our 4th main objectives (right above), it’s clear that is impossible to get a good result if we don’t act as one connected movement. The network can´t grow strategically with scattered action. It’s essential to share the purpose and act as one to achieve our common vision: The Global Recognition of the Junior Enterprise Concept. It´s time to create a new era of cooperation, co-creation and collaboration with young leaders around the world and bring more development to the economy, society and education. It´s time for change! And who is the protagonist of this new scenario? You, Junior Entrepreneur!

Jet Who is JET?

Organization

The Tunisian Confederation was founded in April 2012 by some inspired members and exmembers of the existing JEs at that time (ENSI, ENISo, ENIT and IHEC). JET’s mission was to organize the movement, give it the necessary support to work more efficiently and to evolve the network. They named it JET, which stands for Junior Enterprises of Tunisia. After some meetings, the founders made a call for other students who were responsible in their JEs to form the first executive board for a 2-year term. The two oldest JEs in Tunisia (MMT and Junior ENIT) celebrated the 10th anniversary of their year. creation this year.

Junior Enterprises are classified into three categories; grades go from Junior Creation to Junior Initiation and finally to Junior Enterprise. The “Quality chart” was signed by all the JEs, it specifies the duties of each category and the migration conditions from one grade to another. In the annual National Meeting of JET, JOBS 2014 (Juniors Official Business Seminar), the number of participants stood at 380. This number is expected to reach a new record in JOBS 2015 as the movement counts today 25 JEs across the country covering 11/24 governorates. Tunis, the capital, counts 15 JEs only. for itself only.

cjcc Who is CJCC?

The CJCC is an umbrella of student run consulting firms established at universities throughout Canada, formed in 2014. By supporting new junior consulting entities at universities across Canada, and bringing together all the existing ones, the CJCC promotes and ensures the quality of its members by setting operating standards. The CJCC main goal is to allow for cooperation between Junior Enterprises in order to ensure that the movement can grow sustainably. In mid-2014, the Boston Consulting Group, JED partner at the time, gathered HEC and McGill Junior consulting firms as well as the newly

founded CCGP at Polytechnique Montreal, an engineering school, in order to provide mutual trainings to the members of the three organizations. Julie Brummer and Sebastien Rozanes, both alumni from Junior Enterprises, ESSEC and HEC Paris respectively, are at the root of this solid collaboration. Following the first joint training, the presidents of the three organizations realized that a solid cooperation between them was needed in order to empower the junior consulting image in the Canadian market. They thus decided to mutually guarantee high-quality projects to their customers by engaging in the creation of the CJCC.

Testimonial

As cofounders of the CJCC, this organisation means to us that Canada’s students and young professionals now have the opportunity to join a vehicle that will allow them to work together towards making a lasting economic and social impact. Entrepreneurship is for us a core value, as it is for the network of Canadian junior consultancies that is building up as we speak. We believe that students have something of great value to offer to the professional world, and the CJCC will be there to help them do exactly that. Jean François Charette – Founding Partner

Interesting facts

about the network

JEN – Les Junior Enterprises Nantaises: it’s a cooperative organism composed of four Junior Enterprises (Centrale Nantes Études, MiND, Loire Concept and Audencia Junior Conseil) from the city of Nantes, France. First of all it´s necessary to understand that people and time are relevant to create common projects in order to get the best of it. To achieve success, the different teams need to know each other, since they will work together and must be more efficient. JEN model is an example of how eliminating competitiveness out of some areas that normally cut market share can bring prosperity.

ICONS – Consulting by students: it’s a Junior Enterprise with over 50 students across Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz, in Austria. That’s true, they have 3 branch offices across Austria and they are the biggest in the country. Can you imagine your JE doing this?

Handels Consulting: It’s a Junior Enterprise from Sweden that works with law, business and engineering field. Handels Consulting is part of a holding of students from the HHG University, called HHGs Holding AB. The holding was founded in 1994 and has at least 3 anonymous companies that work with entrepreneurship, events and trainings.

> EVENTS

Verás que um filho teu não foge a luta The Junior Enterprises National Conference this year took place in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, with 2650 Junior Entrepreneurs from all over the country, which is a new record for the event. During 4 days the participants could take part in workshops, business cases, lectures, benchmarks and other activities based on 4 main areas (our market, politics, education and our society) to inspire the Junior Entrepreneur to seek for innovative ideas to overcome the main problems of the country. Besides, during the event all the presidents of the 236 Brazilian Junior Enterprises participated in the General Assembly to discuss and decide important issues and challenges of the Movement.

The ENEJ 2015 also had an important role to spread the Junior Enterprise Movement to Brazilian politicians, since they are discussing a law to regulate the activities of the Junior Enterprises in the country. The event was organized by CONCENTRO and was a huge success and absolutely changed the way the participants think about their impact in the future of the country.

“To organize the ENEJ 2015 was the best decision that I took during my life within the network. The organizers realized that to inspire a junior entrepreneur generation, we must start giving the best example: doing things different. We waited too long for someone that could do something different and change our country’s history. Therefor we understand that if we start to make the difference day by day, we can provide the opportunity and experience to be the protagonists of micro evolutions in our life. And that can change the world.”

Leticia Medeiros Coordinator of the event

More than 220 students from 15 different countries and 50 guests from private and public sector (including more than 20 represented companies) gathered together in various settings, under the patronage of MEP José Manuel Fernandes. The participants attended workshop, networking activities, one high level Opening Ceremony and the Gala Dinner that set a new standard for the Excellence Awards – European Awards for Junior Enterprise, with the highest participation rate in the history of

the network. During JADE Spring Meeting Opening Ceremony, five panelists debated the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Europe and its power to inspire new generation to help the economy. The debate took part with private (EY and Mycrosoft) and Public (UNIDO and European Commission) representatives and, while the panelists tried to finish on a positive note, the participants voted 75% that youth aren’t supported enough across Europe to be entrepreneurial.

“JADE Spring Meeting takes place every year in the capital of Europe and it is the biggest and most important event for JADE and The Junior Enterprise Network. The previous days of the event you feel that everything is retarded, everything is wrong, the venues will not be good enough, you’ve been working 6 months for this and now there is nothing to do to solve the problem. However, during those days you do not feel anything because your attention is focused on the schedule of the event and coordinating the team in order to create the best environment for the junior entrepreneurs, speakers and partners... Finally, when the event is almost finished most of the stakeholders are more than satisfied and the recognition of your team as the Best Senior Project Manager of JADE Spring Meeting is something that you cannot describe. JADE will be the best organization one year more and then you know that you’ve made a great job. “

For the first time in the history of the Tunisian Confederation, more than 150 Junior Entrepreneurs from more than 20 Junior Enterprises, from all over Tunisia, gathered for the the first edition of the JET Awards. The setting was a beautiful mosque on the top of a hill overlooking the City, and Capital, of Tunisia. The special guests of this unforgettable occasion were Abdelaziz, business man and business owner and long time sustainer of the Junior Enterprise Movement, and even David Hirsch, a representative of JADE, the European Confederation. The excitement in the air was palpable as the nominees awaited to know who the winners of the fist edition would be. A special thank you go to the organizing committee which accomplished a fantastic event. Congratulations to Marketing Méditeranée Tunis which went home with the first ever Excellence Award.

“The Excellence Award came to confirm our leading position and to honor 10 glory years of hard work and success. I am glad for my JE to recieve this award that will make us considered as a reference more than ever.We are also grateful towards our confederation for keeping our movement connected and for giving us the new opportunity to compete between JEs during the Jet Awards.”

This year’s main summer event took place in Coimbra, home to the oldest university of Portugal. This city singlehandedly represented for centuries the educational-cultural capital of the Portuguese Empire. The greatness and history of this university transpired and inspired over 300 students from all over Europe, Africa and South america. For 4 days, starting with the Opening Ceremony, then with the workshops, business games, exchange sessions and ending with the 1st edition of CDP Awards, that took place during the amazing Gala Dinner, just reaffirms how great was the event.

Behind the success of this event are two Portuguese Junior Enterprises: jeKnowledge and jeFEUC. Furthermore a special thanks and acknowledgment goes to all the speakers and experts from Europe that took time out of their busy schedules and contributed in making this event a life changing experience. The city welcomed this great crowd with the warmth and beauty of its traditions, making sure that Coimbra is for everybody.

“When I was invited to beJSM’15 Project Manager I was a little bit skeptical. I mean, I never had been into a JADE event before and I didn´t have any experience in the organization of an international congresses. 1 year has passed since I’ve made that decision and despite being really tired I cannot say that I regret it. The truth is that you must analyze valuable and non-valuable opportunities. JADE Summer meeting was one of those opportunities. If there’s one thing I can definitively say that I’ve learned is that the experiences we’ve shared together as a team are priceless. In the end, yes, I would be better in a beach in Algarve, but I would not be the person I am today. I feel closer to the business world as I know how it works, I’ve developed a real entrepreneurial spirit as I am not that afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone and I’ve met nice people from all over Europe that I want to keep contact with.”

T

he whole world is looking for causes that make young people see themselves as major players in the transformation of the society around them, citizens who want to do things that are really relevant for everyone. By fostering the Junior Enterprise concept, we have seen how students in different places are totally connected with each other. Now, the Junior Entrepreneurs can take another step, going further, focused on the main goal of getting the global recognition. This is why we launched JEWD - Junior Enterprise World Day in 2014. JEWD was created to celebrate the JE Network around the world, a day in which students of the global Movement celebrate their work, achievements, progress and the future plans. Universities, cities, countries, all impacted by the activities made in one day specially dedicated to the Junior Enterprises. The idea of this initiative was born in 2014 and, over the years, the intention is to have JEWD increasingly evident through activities aimed at fostering entrepreneurship. Events,

lectures, workshops, community activities, trainings and mobilizations are examples of activities already used to commemorate JEWD globally. This knowledge moment between Junior Entrepreneurs, is also a time to foster our concept with other interested parts, such as customers, partners, Universities and society. This year, on November 22nd, we celebrate JEWD again, with the engagement of Confederations, Federations, Nucleos and JEs from the whole world. Some new initiatives have been launched in 2015, as our official fanpage, the Global Magazine, an online event and others celebrations reaching our members worldwide. Hopefully, JEWD will be an official date next year and we will always make sure that November 22nd is a date which thousands of people will watch our daily work. JEWD is the possibility to dedicate a whole day to expanding the Junior Entrepreneur’s ideas in a commemorative and shared way. Save the date, show you are proud of being a Junior Entrepreneur and celebrate JEWD!

2014 Results

• 20 testimonials; • 9 countries directly involved with JEWD’s celebration; • 811 supporters on Thunderclap Campain - 324% of the goal, which was 250 supporters; • 604.331 social reach; • More than 20 events to officially celebrate JEWD; • High impact on Social Media with pictures and the #CelebrateJEWD.

testimonials As ICF certified coaches, offering professional coaching to young graduates as well as executives and managers matters to us. Our management background made us aware of the impact of the human factor on a business’ success or failure at an early point of our career. Then why not prepare as a student? ICF, our Federation, was special as they launched from 2010 a « Next Generation » commission, and a partnership with CNJE. It was obvious to us that we wanted to contribute both to the fascinating and fun experience of coaching Junior Entrepreneurs and for the renown of ICF coaching. Students who have the courage to invest time in a JE are propelled into an entrepreneurial experience. Before even entering the business world, it will expose them to the importance of human relationships on the way to a team’s success or failure. We see it as a first opportunity to become aware of one’s leadership and ability to work in a team in order to achieve a shared goal. Junior Entrepreneurs are one step ahead as they enter the corporate world. They have alre-

ady experienced customer relations, quality and financial constraints, developed self-confidence, are aware of the interdependence and the need of collaboration between departments to achieve a company’s vision and objectives. They devote themselves to society with a fresh perspective, enthusiasm and their active presence, also contributing by carrying out projects at a competitive price. They break the perception of students living on the fringe of reality. For me working as a coach to several Junior Enterprises allow me to raise awareness among future leaders for a caring management style; have a better understanding of the next generations needs and our fast-moving world; share their will to explore, change the rules of the game, as well as their agility; allow me to promote coaching as a relevant tool to support the development of interpersonal skills Coaching JEs is meaningful and useful. It means being at the heart of the generation, which will change the rules of the game and the pleasure of sharing.

My story with the JE Network began in 2001 when my son joined the Junior Enterprise of FGV-EAESP. I helped them to improve the JE selective process, due to my experience with HR. I tried to help on the designing and implementation of the whole process. Over time, we began to provide training for Self-Development, Leadership, Time Management, Mentoring, Feedback, among others. We also started doing workshops of team building and coaching with the directors. They even invited me to give the first lecture in ENEJ (2007 SP) and since then, I participated in all. In 2008 we started a partnership also with the Brasil Júnior, coming from the invitation of the President Rafael Martines and beyond that with ITA Jr. In addition to the-

se three official partnerships, we tried to accept as many lecture invitations for junior entrepreneurs in different states. The Network means a lot to me. It is a source of inspiration, admiration and purpose. In these 14 years I have met hundreds of extremely talented young, idealistic, patriotic and motivated people eager to learn and be their best. I learned a lot, had fun enough, and the most important thing: Imade hundreds of friends. These young entrepreneurs, as they themselves define, “do not run from a fight” and “are giant by nature.” They are teaching us that we can do the impossible.

This year (2015) I turned Vice-President and it is a new challenge for me. The network made my life so much better, because I used to be really shy and it was one thing I had to overcome. We don’t just practice what we are supposed to do after graduation, but being part of the JE network make us always look for new ways to change the world. We want to impact, and make the difference. That’s why I’m part of this movement.

The JE movement allowed me to get more pertinent knowledge that helped me implement any project I had to do. It also allowed me to meet people whom I could exchange better ideas and solutions of problems. It’s the presence of others who are smarter, kinder, wiser, and different from you that enables you to evolve. Being part of the JE movement helped me on changing the ordinary by creating opportunities for more sustainable development that will affect different domains in society. Living this experience changed my life on so many levels that now I know I can influence people to do better things for my country.

Happiness does not consist in the goal, but in the path. Joining entrepreneurship is just alike: we do not expect to be those to turn the world into a perfect place, but we get to know how to do so and head our everyday actions to this. When I was introduced to the JE Network, I immediately felt like I had to be part of it. Later on, I heard about purpose: how to identify our own and how to link our work with it. What a great surprise I had when I knew one of the four main topics of ENEJ (Brasil Júnior national event) was about Our Society. It was crucial in the identification of my purpose, which is to increase the positive impact of social business. Weeks after ENEJ, junior entrepreneurs were still concerned about the relevance of our projects for the society. We gathered ourselves in a Facebook group named “Articuladores Socioambientais” to share success cases, knowledge and apply them to our enterprises. Being surrounded by entrepreneurs whose interests and actions are beyond making money makes me feel like my goal is somehow being achieved every day.

Junior Enterprises is a unique experience for University students. It allows us to develop skills we would not acquire in regular classes, like client relationship, or teamwork on professional projects. Being part of a Junior Enterprise is a first professional experience. What an amazing opportunity for us all! We have been part of this project for one year now, and yet every day comes with some new discovery, new challenges, and new faces. Indeed, the experience of Junior Entrepreneurship is not bound by a School, or even by our own structure. We can meet other members from other Junior Enterprises, from France or abroad. With more than 150 Juniors and more than 1000 entrepreneurs, the opportunities for meetings are countless, and extremely rewarding. If we had to summarize our experience as a Junior Entrepreneur in a few words, it would be: professionalism, passion, and team spirit.

Before even sign up for the selective process for my JE, an older friend of mine had come to talk to me and said: have the guys from Cia JĂşnior talked with your class about themselves? I said yes and he told me to join CIA JĂşnior, because that was one of the best choices he has ever made in his college time. Right on the first day, the first thing everyone did was to get together in the meeting room and recite their mission, vision and values. In that moment I found out a reason for exist, I found out my mission for life: to empower people, to develop organizations and transform society. From that day on I began my quest of self-improving and building a networking in order to achieve that one mission. Nowadays, after almost 2 years meeting and learning with awesome people across the whole country, participating in many events on State and National level and resolving countless tough problems, my bonds with the movement and its components grows stronger as much as new challenges appears. I believe that my JE team and I will surely achieve that one goal.

JEWC 2016: MEET OUR BIGGEST DREAM!

T

he Junior Enterprise World Conference - JEWC is the biggest academic entrepreneurship event of the world, it takes place biennially to integrate and develop the Junior Enterprise Movement in a global level. The event follows global trends, facing dilemmas in everyday life of a Junior Enterprise and empowering their participants to have a positive impact in society. The 2016 edition will be held in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina’s capital and the third brazilian city with the highest municipal HDI (Human Development Index). It aims to be a milestone in the Junior Enterprise Movement worldwide, as the previous events were for generations of past junior entrepreneurs. The event is positioned as a catalyst tool for an internal change in the participants, through an enabling environment and by the contact with other people around the world who also seek positive change.

THE CITY

W

ith a natural beauty comparable to Rio de Janeiro and the charm of a small town with Azores architecture, it is no coincidence that Florianópolis ranks among the best cities to live in Brazil and in the world. In the 21st century the city has experienced a growth boom with Brazilians looking for employment opportunities and a better quality of life away from the chaos of the big cities. The island in the south of Brazil is also a tourism destination

for people who are looking for superb beaches, interesting culture, friendly people and an intense nightlife. But Florianópolis does not live by tourism alone. The magical island has a unique environment for creativity and innovation to flourish, hosting 16 junior enterprises, many technological parks, business incubators, startups, coworking offices and so on. Another differential it’s the quality of the educational system, with high ranked and

accessible universities, making the city a pole of America’s Silicon Valley, making the perfect skilled labour. All these characteristics together contrast between nature and business to put explain why the city is considered the best together 4000 junior entrepreneurs. place in the country to undertake and the Latin

LEAD THE CO-ERA T

he JEWC 2016 theme, Lead the co-era, brings the reflection that we should and we can undertake a more collaborative world. This world we want to create is a place where people are more conscious about their role in the system as a whole and can evolve their way of thinking from the individual to the collective. Since the beginning of time, the links between us were what really made us strong. Is what made life evolved and get more complex, what caused every great achievement of humanity and what makes the Earth keep spinning around the sun. In a deep search of our potential, we realized that we live in a world where the connections are worth more than the parts, and that is our responsibility to find out how to enhance these connections to achieve the world we dream. Gradually a new era is slowly arising in our society. An era which the access is more important than the possession and we understand that alone we can even go faster, but together we go much further. Within these new times, it’s not possible to combat shared problems only with individual actions. It’s necessary to expand people’s minds in terms of cooperation, and we will only build a better

world when this mind expansion extend to the organizational sphere. We believe the only way to concretize the modification we are searching for is having committed and capable individuals taking the lead. What we try to do with the transmission of this message on the event is to create an orientation basis for the resolution of the challenges we deal today in a Junior Enterprise Movement background. Understand the full potential of our combined isolated actions is what can make our impact truly global. Today we have 27 members working to turn this dream - and much more - into reality. We already launched two surprise promo subscriptions, one at Summer Jade Meeting 2015 in Coimbra and the another one at ENEJ 2015 in Brasília, with a total of 550 spots and achieved more than 2.300 subscribers. Our will is to reach 4.000 attendees on 20th to 24th of July, so we will open more spots soon. To get more information access: facebook.com/jewc2016 instagram.com/jewc2016 and jewc2016.com

success

stories of jeurs I was a member of Icons – consulting by students (Austrian JE) for almost 3 years and in that time I first led the Marketing&IT department and finally was a member of the management team. As a managing director, I led a team of 25 student consultants and conducted consulting projects in various sectors, including FMCG and renewable energies. In that time I also had the honor to present my J.E. at JADE Spring meeting 2013 in Brussels, where we won the excellence award for the most entrepreneurial junior enterprise. I am still very connected to the team and my J.E. My time with icons was the best preparation for being an entrepreneur. You have to learn fast, take over responsibility, collaborate, innovate and try things you haven’t learned in school or university and thus grow beyond yourself. I understood that believing in yourself is the initial step and how much you can achieve in a great and motivated team. I started my business out of a personal problem – I had to do several blood tests which were not only expensive but also very time-consuming and unpleasant. Plus, I didn’t even receive my own medical reports that enabled me to understand my own health. I wondered if the process could be improved. Kiweno is a B2C health-tech-startup that combines advanced laboratory testing technologies with online data visualization and web-based interactive tools. Thus we empower individuals to understand and improve their own nutritional health in a personalized and engaging way. Together with my two cofounders, an internist and a sports management graduate, we started with the idea of developing easy home-tolaboratory tests that can be sold in pharmacies and by doctors. We soon realized that we could go even further and directly address our customers – we are entering a new area of

personalized, more connected healthcare. The rise of smartphones made it possible to have a doctor in your pocket. We have done more than 2,5 years of research and development, conducted a one year test period in the pharmacy market and are now operational with our consumer brand Kiweno. We received a mid 6-digit funding at the beginning of 2015, won a startup challenge at the Pioneers Festival, Europe’s leading tech conference, and thus received a lot of media attention. Before we even officially launched our online platform, our sales already exceeded our expectations and our team will have tripled by the beginning of summer. We are happy with the current status. The next step will be the launch of additional self-tests in summer, development and introduction of new online My advice is to be open – talk to people about your idea, nothing is more valuable that honest feedback that brings you further, don’t be afraid of criticism – learn from it, but never let others get you down. It takes time and endurance - so believe in yourself and your idea. And finally, the best advice is probably to just get started - you just have to say let’s do it and give it a go! www.kiweno.com

As a member of the Junior Enterprise (JE) team from Brazil Business School part or the Federal University of Bahia and President of the same JE in 1999, co-founder of the Federation of Junior Enterprises in the State, and organizer of the first Junior Enterprises State Summit, I evaluate the last 16 years of my life and affirm without any fear or doubt that has been great years full of activity, experience, and transformation. Not only joy, glamour and flowers, as we say in Brazil and some might think. But years of great resilience, stress, continual study dealing with growing pains, years certainly of a lot of learning! When I think of my JE time certainly carry with me my spirit of enterprise and junior entrepreneurial activity anchored in teamwork and trust among people! Perhaps this is the greatest inheritance from college years in a world where a society of trust has not yet been consolidated in all markets and public spaces! Over the years, I have kept a youthful mindset that identifies opportunities for customers, partners on favorable scenarios or profound growth scenarios, as the current scenario of crisis portrays (political and economic crisis in Brazil). In the world, a crisis of the human spirit! The experience of being a Brazilian Junior businessman (JE) working in Brazil and then around the world certainly gave me confidence to BELIEVE and dream bigger. As a JE made-in-Brazil I dreamed higher and took the challenge to know me better through an international exchange program. I dreamed higher and endeavored to win a scholarship and get an MBA in the United States working to pay my expenses. And then, I secured an Academic Master’s degree, focusing on political philosophy, to have a more balanced view of life and understand the purpose of business and

enterprise. On this journey, the challenge to keep me updated and connected with the trends have been more of a personal hobby than a weight habit that certainly started in the corridors of UFBA’s Business School under the leadership of Professor Osvaldo Barreto Filho, today’s current State Secretary of Education. Well, when working for small, large companies and multinationals, foundations, NGOs and currently running businesses, and investing in startups and ventures of the future, I stay have connected to my belief system and aspirations. Yes, this connection was initiated in the JE movement and lapidated through 15 years of continuing work! I would like to mention some products of my entrepreneurial work and global affiliations: BBOSS (www.youbboss.com) a micro-multinational investment boutique and international innovation hub operating in Brazil, Sweden and the USA, REDE+ (www. gruporedemais.com) entrepreneurial ecosystem platform undergoing expansion in the Brazilian market, CAPITAL PITCH (www.capitalpitch. com) a growing business in Australia, the world’s first capital accelerator, CAIBBRASIL (www.caibbrasil.com) the World Affairs Council of Brazil keeping a dialog on a new way of doing politics, performing activities in three Brazilian cities, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, and São Paulo, and I think the course of action and initiatives listed above would not have been the same if I had not BELIEVED in the creative power of people. Therefore, I reinforce the importance of institutions to invest in Brazil Junior Entreprise network and its internationalization strategy, valuing our smart and globally connected young people, so we can project the image of brazilian entrepreneurship in Brazil and in the world starting a new chapter of innovation and development. Forward, young leaders, this is your world, embrace it!

I knew J.E.To.P (Italian JE) attending my second year of BS in Industrial Management Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, thanks to my friend that was in JEME. I joined J.E.To.P. for 4 years and my experience was really good and formative. Often, I spent more time in the JE than following my lectures, I dedicated a very long time working for my J.E., basically all my free time. Within J.E.To.P. I covered many roles: I started in the Sales team for the event Carriera&Futuro (one of the biggest Italian career-fair at that time), then I became Sales Manager and General Manager of Carriera&Futuro and President of J.E.To.P. This experience taught me a lot of soft skills and competences that were not necessarily part of my degree course: negotiation, team management, the ability to take decisions quickly, with all risk-taking related, public speaking and much more. I never thought of becoming an entrepreneur, because no one in my family has their own business. Moreover, at that time in Italy the “start-up movement” was not so trendy as today. I thought that I would become a consultant, manager or whatever; exactly like many other students. My business idea was born thanks to the experience gained, especially in J.E.To.P., as a recruitment consultant. I identified a poten-

tial market into the Applicant Tracking System market because most Corporates were not organized to manage the recruiting process using specific software. In-recruiting was released in 2009 and is growing up rapidly: currently we have hundreds of clients, of any size and industry, mainly located in Europe. In-recruiting is an Applicant Tracking System, a cloudbased application that allows Corporations (of any size and industry) and Employment Agencies to manage the entire recruiting process, from the collection of resumes to hiring, all on an intuitive and multilanguage interface integrated into their corporate website. We are implementing new amazing features/modules for enriching our service and we are searching fund that let us go worldwide, starting from USA & Canada. Our goal is to become the new “Saleforce. com” into the Recruiting Software industry and be one of the leading ATS provider worldwide. To succeed today the deep knowledge of a focused market, vision towards overcoming barriers, multicultural adaptation for understanding and anticipating global needs are necessary, so don’t be afraid to fail and have a positive mindset.

The gap between formulation and execution of strategies is a widely problem faced by companies of different sizes. According experts in the area, less than 10% of strategies made are greatly executed. Besides that less than 5% of the operational level in the companies understands the strategies directions defined. Therefore, the communication shows a significant bound between strategy formulation and strategy execution. Inside the “Empresa JR ADM UFBA” it wasn’t different. So, based on the cultura research, made in 2012, whose showed that only 44% of the members said that understands our strategy, the President’s called a meeting named Quality Circle to discuss with the members what kind of improvements we

could do to have a better understanding of our strategy. This meeting conceived the Strategy Communication Program. This program intent to communicate in this logical order: 1) sharing the cause; 2) know the strategy; 3) get worry with the results and 4) associate their activity with the strategy. By that, we developed a gradual knowledge that the member has to acquire by this time on the company, always improve his knowledge of the strategy. Being a Junior-Entrepreneur can be really tough sometimes, with your own responsibilities and your school classes to balance. Filling countless spreadsheets as a Junior-Enterprise activity isn’t the best thing a student should do. That’s something we understood in Sciences Po Rennes Junior Conseil and that’s the reason why we decided to rethink our internal tools. The main idea was, for our team, to save time while still being wellequipped. Data base, monitoring tools, quality controls … all of these were improved and developed by our IT Manager for the commercial team to help them keep tracks of their market research, follow all the steps of their missions and maintain a high-quality service for our clients. This innovation is also a way for us to help the future team go further. First, it will allow them to make detailed and accurate data analysis and to redefine the commercial strategies accordingly. Then, creating useful tools is also a way to ensure best practices will be kept from one year to another in the commercial department. As a conclusion, re-creating our IT tools might seem a time-consuming investment, but now we can expect long-term benefits. Following the new strategic planning, UCJ has focused on a strong culture of impact, in which all members have internalized the company’s values themselves. In addition, we have focused our attention in the generation of results to our clients and the training of our professionals in order to fulfill our vision of being an incubator of talents. Over the past few years, we also seek to create a more solid internal management, based on management by processes with a functional structure, in which we can increase the efficiency of the management processes of the value chain. By following these policies, we have reduced the managerial gaps, therefore accomplishing significant positive impacts on our results. UCJ currently has 3 competitive edges: 1. We focus a lot in market interaction, aimed at solving our customers’ problems. UCJ’s Marketing acts as a commercial cell, largely working on customer sourcing and relationship, so that the integrated work assists the cell projects in commercial processes and project management, by increasing assertiveness of arrival and negotiation and obtaining information about the client ‘s perspective with the project that is being executed. 2. All Trainees start as consultants. This appears to be small and recurring in other JE’s, but our consultant is dedicated only to the execution of external projects and is qualified to work in all portfolios. This way, we can ensure that everyone in the company understands our Core Business, have it as a priority and increase their troubleshooting skills. 3.Our network of former members: UCJ has a network that we affectionately call AlwaysUCJ. This network acts as a great advantage because it has many high-positioned people, and by maintaining close contact, we have access to up-to-date best practices of the market and tips from people who have already experienced the routine of the company and today have an even greater understanding of management. In addition, many of them help us through the guidance of consulting projects, which raises the quality and excellence of these projects.
