One of the most beautiful gardens in Tokyo can be found right in the middle of all the skyscrapers: the Happo-en. A haven for peace and quiet. It is no wonder then, that Happo-en translates as "beautiful from every angle". Bonsai, cherry and maple trees, some of which are over 350 years old, Koi carp and the simple beauty of nature can be enjoyed right here in the middle of Tokyo.

The credo of the Tuscan shirt experts is the passion with which their products are made, allowing the label to stand out from the crowd. According to the company founder, is not enough to simply master the perfect sewing technique - each product must be given a soul and it must be created with love and dedication. An ambitious goal in itself, but the experience gained over the years and the undivided attention dedicated to making shirts, have made Alessandro Gherardi synonymous for premium quality worldwide.

tate of the Art: When Andrea and Rosa Santoni founded their company in 1975, their combined self-proclaimed goal was to create perfectly crafted, modern items for connoisseurs. They felt that the only way to guarantee perfection was to create their products in their own workshops. Today, these workshops have grown to around 15,000 square metres. L U X U R Y A N D PA S S I O N

Santoni sets the bar high in all things luxury, and their exclusive shoe creations are sold in all the best shops around the world. The reason? The label’s unfaltering spirit and passion that has been apparent since the very start. As the company grew, it still kept its impeccably high standards. The ethical principles are not just represented by the heads of Santoni; their 450-strong workforce is firmly committed to the company philosophy. HOMEMADE

The fact that Santoni produce all of their shoes "in-house" is a form of quality assurance for their discerning clientèle. High quality materials like calfskin and crocodile leather are used, while the laces and other specialised details become real eye-catchers. The Highlight for Fall/Winter 2015: It is not just classic brown business shoes that come into play, the label also surprises with also brightly coloured sneakers. Lobster orange, amber yellow and ocean blue are just some of the new colours of the season.

Those who value their wardrobe expect to purchase value; something as close to perfect as possible, something unique and personal. An item that stands out because of its details, not despite them. Unfortunately not everyone has perfect measurements. But this diversity is part of the attraction of it all, because the "Made-to-Measure" principle makes you the basis on which a perfect garment is styled. For an exceptional, personalised shopping experience and the perfect fit. Many of our designers give you this option and here at BRAUN Hamburg: we take your measurements as the first step towards your luxurious and customised finished product. From fabric quality to collar shape or seemingly simply details like the buttons or monogram stitching – you will be spoiled for choice! An exclusive product range is only the first step. Individual exclusivity is the next and is vital for a service oriented mission statement. "Made-to-Measure" brings a new sense of versatility to fashion, using traditional methods to create a modern piece, and following the basic design to fulfil customer wishes.

CANALI K A L EI DOSCO PE

Do you remember this telescope-like toy from your childhood that showed you a fantasy-inspiring pot-pourri of colours? That is exactly how Canali introduced their new Spring/Summer collection 2016 in Milan. The various colours are on the one hand kept somewhat toned down and perfectly coordinated, but each colour also makes its own unique statement. Lime green, curry yellow, caramel brown and rich berry red catch the eye while mint, lilac and acrylic provide a sense of balance. The Italian label Canali stands for classic, elegant and simple design, and this show proved no exception. The high-cut cigarette trousers can be combined just as well with a smart-casual jacket as with a casual polo shirt. We also like the addition of cropped suede jackets. The key accessory in this collection is a luxurious briefcase in an ingenious material mix to perfectly round off any outfit. Wide shorts and timeless shirts with standing collars made of cotton add a sense of casual elegance to the collection. The casual jackets in finest linen quality are a special highlight and make a statement with their large sewnon Bellow pockets. The silhouettes are loose and casual but classic. Every detail of the collection reflects the masterful craftsmanship as well as the tradition of the family-run business – Canali has truly earned the quality label “Made in Italy”.

HERNO BE AUT Y AN D FUNCTION

Highest aesthetic standards in symbiosis with worldwide unique tailoring technology.

A

fter having written a success story over the past six decades, Claudio Marenzi Herno now leads his company based on long-standing tradition and important know-how of the future. An interview. What concept is the label based on? The Herno values have remained unchanged since their inception in 1948: our strong connection to our roots, our focus on function and aesthetics and never handing over control of our creativity and production. What makes the brand unique? Herno is known for its rain coats, which are being improved upon year after year using the most current and innovative technologies available. The result is garments that meet the requirements of modern everyday life. Herno has been revisiting the concept of the down jacket since 2007, resulting in ultralightweight pieces – Herno winter jackets weigh a mere 200 grams, and their summer counterparts only 80 grams. As a pioneer in the field, the label has introduced lightweight down to summer fashion. Herno has done away with the traditional down pockets – down of the finest quality is now injected directly into the quilted chambers. The models that combine knit with nylon, use printed nylon or instead of nylon use premium cashmere/silk are innovatively designed

and right on trend. What's new is the technology that uses lasers to cut the cotton and wool jersey fabrics, then uses ultrasonic sewing methods to combine them and create car coats and parkas. Expert hand-crafted workmanship also has its place: Fine double-face fabrics are transformed into cashmere coats that exude the company's exclusive sense of luxury and decadesold masterful tailoring skills. Team work or solo effort: How do new ideas for designs and cuts come to life? The collections are developed by a creative team that is in constant contact with the production technicians. The jackets and coats are made using a blend of tailoring tradition, the historic company legacy and the constant research into new processing techniques. The end result is a perfect combination of beauty and function. What does the future hold for Herno? The company will continue on its chosen path and will always strive for the newest production techniques while keeping the permanent research of new technologies and materials at the forefront of production.

The renowned luxurious Ginza quarter is situated in Chuo, a modern part of Tokyo city. It was named after the old silver coins that were produced here some 400 years ago. Once the first shopping promenade in Japan, Ginza is now the largest shopping district in the whole country. The world renowned shopping promenade is very impressive in its variety: Luxury brands and traditional businesses attract with their international shopping experience, whereas numerous theatres, galleries and exhibitions provide a fantastic stage for the art world.

Most shows at the big fashion weeks all over the world only last 20 minutes. That is a very short window of time to look at a lot of work that has taken the designer and their whole team an entire season to produce.

•

B A C K S TA G E WITH KEAN ETRO N O B U S I N E S S L I K E FA S H I O N B U S I N E S S

Kean Etro looks relaxed right before the beginning of the show. He is giving interviews, checking off on looks and every now and then having a photo taken with one of his models – one of which happens to be one of his three sons, who has been walking the runway for his father over the last few seasons. All around him, the backstage area at Etro is alive with energy. Lots of photographers, reporters, stylists, models and safety personnel are ready for the show that is due to start in a few short minutes. Some of the models are still being styled and others are having last checks done on their outfits. We snap a few last photos, and then everything happens very fast all visitors are led out of the backstage area, which is now closed, and brought to their seats. There are buyers, members of the press, bloggers and editors that fill the front row seats and eagerly wait for the show, which is just about to begin. Kean Etro shows us that pink, beige, bronze and co. can also be great colours for men. His Spring/Summer collection 2016 highlights the feminine side of men. He wishes to create a balance between the masculine and the feminine, he says. Velours, silk and chiffon, but also the famous Etro Paisley underline the stylish extravagance we have come to expect from the Milanese fashion label. Etro is successful in once again standing out from the crowd, the cuts are slim and minimalist, yet the lines remain classic. Etro does without extravagant finishes on the collars and lapels of the knee-length coats and the smart-casual jackets. The main focus is on simple V-necks. Custom fabric and pattern combinations are what the luxury label is so well known for. Kean Etro has consistently succeeded in tastefully displaying the feminine influence on his collection with a skilful blend of fabrics and cuts that highlight the elegance of masculinity. The designer collection for the coming season is brimming with feminine influences, from colours and materials to cuts that are reminiscent of women's collections. Burberry, for example, introduces lace to men's shirts, while Gucci took typical feminine silhouettes and silk blouses that we generally associate with women's fashions and translated them into wearable men’s fashion.
