THE merv & audrey DEAN ESTATE ex paratai drive, auckland
Dunbar Sloane Ltd are pleased to announce the inclusion of the Estate of the Late Merv and Audrey Dean, Ex Paratai Drive, Auckland. The house itself has recently been sold by Michael Boulgaris Real Estate. The Deans were well-known racing identies, as the former owner’s of the legendary harness race horse, Cardigan Bay. Cardigan Bay together with Phar Lap is one of New Zealand’s most famous racehorses. Winning a total of 80 races, it was the first standard bred to win US$1million in prize money in North America. This was celebrated with New Zealand Post issuing a postage stamp in 1970 (see illustration below). The Estate itself features antiques across all areas of our Summer Antique & Decorative Arts catalogue being sold at no reserve for the best price on the day of auction. Notable inclusions being Period Victorian & French furnishings, Royal Worcester, Oriental Ivory & Jade, Sterling Silver colminating in Art Deco & Victorian Fine Jewellery.
