Rise of Brazil's Female
Entrepreneurs
The trajectory of women's progress and the future of the ascendancy of women has shifted from the developed to the developing world. Latin America has become the most visible emblem of rising female political power sweeping across a region. BRAZIL'S
NEW ECONOMIC PROTAGONISTS
You can find the future of the world's women not in Scandinavia or the U.S., but among the entrepreneurs who line the streets of Sao Paulo. Selling everything from fruit to home-made blouses, these women, usually considered the very bottom of Brazil's employment barrel, represent the cuttingedge of progress for women in the 21st century. This marks a departure from past decades, when the advancement of women was visible almost solely in the wealthiest of countries. Surveys of female achievements have consistently singled out just a sliver of the globe, but increasingly, women are making the greatest strides in the rapidly developing nations like Brazil. Brazilian women are newly empowered by remarkable gains in political representation, legal rights and, especially, education. But more important, they are rising in the 21st century's key economic strata: as business owners. Brazil women are rising the fastest as opposed to merely surfing an already advantageous position. A vital benchmark of this progress is the large role that Brazilian women play in business ownership. Here, the rate of female entrepreneurship surpasses that in the G-7 nations. Many become entrepreneurs by necessity: Often locked out of the of the best opportunities in the job market by cultural and sometimes legal barriers, women in Brazil are starting businesses at rapid rates. In contrast, female entrepreneurship rates aren't rising in many of the most advanced countries. Despite talk of the feminization of advanced societies, the percentages of women-owned businesses are inching downward in the U.S., and they are stagnant in the E.U. To some extent, this slowdown reflects greatly expanded opportunities for a new generation of women, considerably more educated than their mothers, in both the mid-level job market and the highest corporate tiers. These changes have been accelerated by shifts in the nature of employment that favor “brains” and collaboration over traditional male advantages in “brawn” and singleminded ambition. Latin America is a premiere example of the rise of female business ownership. Both Brazil and Costa Rica rank in the World Bank's top 10 countries for female ownership participation. The region also stands out for its small gender gap in new busi-
nesses: Women are now starting businesses as often men, and sometimes succeeding. Among the top countries with the greatest equality between women and men in establishing new ventures, many Latin American countries especially Brazil, now have a gap that is smaller than in the U.S. or anywhere in Europe. Across the globe female gains in education have skyrocketed. In tertiary education, which includes post-high school vocational schools as well as colleges and universities, females now outnumber males in one-third of developing countries, including Brazil, Bangladesh, Honduras, Lesotho, Malaysia, Mongolia and South Africa. Worldwide, between 1970 and 2008, the number of female tertiary students expanded by 70 million, compared with 60 million for males. Along with economic and education gains, Brazilian women are making substantial political gains. Part of a broader movement throughout the developing world toward political empowerment, women are gaining increased access to capital and property ownership, and greater national attentiveness to issues specific to women, such as domestic violence and female health. The percentage of parliamentary seats held by women globally has risen considerably during the first decade of this century, and is now about 18%. As in entrepreneurship and education, the most dramatic gains now are not in the high-income countries but in the developing world, where sizable inroads to the very top tiers of government have also been made. Latin America has become the most visible emblem of rising female political power sweeping across a region. When Brazil elected Dilma Rousseff as president in 2010, it joined its neighbors Argentina, Costa Rica and, until recently, Chile in having a female head of state. Latin America, too, is a world leader for female political representation, with 30%-plus parliamentary representation in Costa Rica, Argentina, Ecuador and Bolivia. The destiny of the global economy has shifted toward countries that once trailed behind but are now rapidly rising. In the same way, the trajectory of women's progress, and the future of the ascendancy of women, has shifted from the developed to the developing world.

US sees surge in visa demands from Brazil The United States is adding 100 more consular officers in China and Brazil to cope with a surge in demand for visas, up 34 percent in China and 42 percent in Brazil in the last year. US officials said they processed more than one million visa applications in China in the last year, and more than 820,000 applications in Brazil for the same period as demand for travel rose with strong economic growth in those countries. "Over the past year we've seen an unprecedented rise in visa demand in emerging economies such as China and Brazil," according to the managing director for US visa services, Ed Ramotowski. "Our goal is to expand our capacity to adjudicate (process) more than 2.2 million (applications for) visas in China, and 1.8 million (applications for) visas in Brazil by 2013," Ramotowski told reporters during a conference call. Donald Jacobson of consular affairs at the US embassy in Brasilia said the United States dealt with more than 820,000 visa applications in Brazil in the last fiscal year, a jump of 42 percent. Another US consular official said that the United States actually issued 885,000 visas in China and 791,000 visas in Brazil in the last year. Worldwide, Washington processed 9.5 million applications, but issued 7.5 million visas, he said. Jacobson said the United States, which has already increased the hours of its consular services in each country, will add 50 more consular officers in Brazil in the next year to cope with demand. Jacobson added that visa demand increased in Brazil as the country experienced strong economic growth and the rise of its currency against the dollar. Walt Disney World and shopping proved to be strong lures for Brazilians.
Local Brazilians compete in weeklong sports event More than 1,000 Indians celebrated Brazil's indigenous cultures with a weeklong sports competition in the northern city of Porto Nacional. Brazil's federal Indian agency that cosponsors the games says they are one of the biggest indigenous sporting events in the Americas. Thirty-eight ethnic groups from across the vast country competed in 10 events that include archery, football, swimming, spear throwing and canoeing. Many of the competitors used their traditional dress and markings. The games ended on November 12th.

Students go on strike after arrests
Students at one of Brazil's most elite universities are going on strike a day after riot police forcibly removed them from an occupied building on campus. The students voted for the strike after police raided an administration building and arrested 70 students who were protesting police patrols on the campus of the University of Sao Paulo. Police used battering rams to smash down doors in the dawn raid as a helicopter buzzed overhead. The students, mostly asleep when police arrived, did not resist arrest, officials said. The students invaded the building Nov. 1 to protest police patrols on the campus of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil's most elite school. A judge had ordered them to leave the building by late Monday, but the group refused. The protest was sparked by the arrest late last month of three students for
marijuana possession, which ended in a violent clash between hundreds of students and police. Students complain they're subjected to random searches and intimidation by police on campus. University administrators and police signed an agreement in September that allowed police to begin patrols on the campus in response to a wave of assaults on campus, one of which ended in the shooting death of a 24-year-old student. After last Tuesday's raid, police displayed Molotov cocktails they said they found inside the building, and said students had destroyed computers and painted graffiti on walls. Marcel Soffner, a spokesman for the police, said they would continue patrolling the campus, and would even increase the number of officers there because of the tense situation with students. The students who were arrested will only be freed after paying a bail of $600.
Brazil is world champion in fighting hunger: WFP Brazil is a world leader in the fight against hunger and its experience can be shared with other countries, visiting World Food Program chief Josette Sheeran said last week. "As a world champion in the fight against hunger, Brazil has a wealth of experience that can be shared with governments eager to learn how they achieved that success and adapt it to their own countries," she noted. The UN official made the remarks in the northeastern city of Salvador while inaugurating a local branch of a newly established Center of Excellence Against Hunger based in Brasilia. Brazil, Latin America's economic powerhouse, has implemented a successful "Zero Hunger" strategy for reducing poverty and food insecurity. Its school meals program reaches about 45 million children per year. "Brazil has taken the fight against hunger and malnutrition seriously and is now among those defeating hunger faster than any nation on earth," Sheeran said. "We will partner to leverage this success to other nations seeking to end hunger and malnutrition." The center, a joint initiative between WFP and Brazil, is tasked with helping countries improve, expand, and eventually run their own national school meal programs to improve the nutrition, education and food security of schoolchildren. It will assist governments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America by drawing on the expertise of WFP and Brazil in combating hunger, while promoting sustainable school feeding models and other food and nutrition safety nets. The center has already launched partnerships between WFP, Brazil, and Mozambique, East Timor, and Haiti. While in Brazil, the WFP executive director plans to meet President Dilma Rousseff.
Brazilian police arrest Rio drug kingpin The most wanted drug kingpin in Rio's largest slum has been caught hiding in the boot of a car as dozens of crack police tighten their noose ahead of an imminent assault to take control of the Rocinha favela. Antonio Bonfim Lopes - also known as "Nem" and considered one of the city's most wanted criminals - was arrested overnight as he tried to flee the shantytown which had been controlled by narcotraffickers for the past 30 years. Nem's dramatic arrest, repeatedly aired on television stations on Thursday, came as police special forces geared for an assault to pacify Rocinha, Brazil's biggest favela. Rio has one of the highest murder rates in the country and the crackdown on Rocinha drug gangs is part of an official campaign since 2008 to restore security in the city before the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics, which Brazil will host. Rio state Governor Sergio Cabral, in a television interview, hailed Nem's capture as "another major step to bring peace to residents of Rocinha and Vidigal" and said the drive to pacify the two favelas would be completed "by the end of the week". Giving details of the overnight operation, Poubel said special forces agents who set up a roadblock on one of the access roads leading to Rocinha grew suspicious when they spotted a low-riding car and thought it was carrying a heavy load.
"One of three occupants of the vehicle identified himself as the honorary consul of Congo and refused to have the car searched," citing "his diplomatic immunity," the official said. The embassies of both Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo both denied having honorary consuls in Rio, according to Agencia Brasil, the government media agency. As the vehicle was being driven to the federal police headquarters, the occupants tried to bribe their way out by offering the police agents $US569,000 ($A562,000) they were carrying in a suitcase, he added. Corruption is rife in the Rio police force. “Police reinforcements were called and the vehicle was searched: Nem was in the trunk. He came out with his hands up in the air," Poubel said. At the police headquarters, the drug kingpin was allowed to call his mother and he asked her to ensure his children go to school. Brazilian radio stations said Nem used to be a model employee of a telecom company who "stumbled" into organised crime after getting a loan from a former Rocinha drug baron to pay for medical care for one of his daughters. To pay back his debts, he reportedly began dealing drugs and later took over as chief of the gang which controls Rocinha, which is home to 120,000 people.

Valcke asks Brazil to adopt law needed for WCup FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke is urging Brazilian lawmakers to quickly approve a law establishing the legal framework needed for the 2014 World Cup. Valcke says the country cannot afford to lose more time in its preparations for the monthlong tournament, which will begin in less than three years. The proposed law would regulate commercial rights, alcohol sales and advertising rules for the tournament and deliver the final commitments Brazil's federal government made to FIFA during its winning bid to host the World Cup and the 2013 Confederations Cup. However, many lawmakers are hesitant about the law, saying it gives FIFA too many powers. Valcke spoke to lawmakers on last Tuesday at a congressional committee discussing the new law. Valcke said the FIFA Confederations Cup, which will be held in Brazil in 2013, "will be without any doubt a key test for us, but it will be rather late to make fundamental changes. So it is important to accelerate the work now." And he conceded that FIFA was not keen on Brazil's plans to charge cheaper World Cup ticket prices for Brazilians over the age of 60 and students. "We do not want to interfere with (Brazilian) legislation. We want to see which articles from these laws can be applied to the World Cup and which can't," he added. Valcke said FIFA, keen to prevent sales of tickets on the black market, accepts half price for seniors, but proposes a minimum entrance fee of 25 dollars for students.

Brazil willing to help IMF with funds for Europe
Europe's debt crisis is giving Brazil an opportunity to show its growing economic power. The South American nation endured decades of lectures from the developed world about its spendthrift ways. But it now has one of the world's fastest growing economies. Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega said last week that the country is ready to help the International Monetary Fund tackle the economic crisis affecting Greece, Italy and other European Union countries. But he told reporters that those countries need to take more decisive action to solve the problems. "Brazil and other countries, including the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are ready to strengthen the IMF," Mantega said. "But this depends on them doing the tasks they set out to do." Among the tasks mentioned by Mantega are the creation of a European Fund to deal with the debt crisis and greater use of
the European Central Bank. Mantega said the funds Brazil could provide in the future could be used not only to help European nations but also emerging economies that did not have large hard currency reserves. Mantega did not mention any numbers and he denied reports that Brazil had offered the IMF a $10 billion credit line during the recent G20 meeting in Cannes. Alexandre Barros, of the Early Warning political risk group said Brazil's offer to help the IMF is a sign of the country's growing clout on the international scene. In return, he said, Brazil will want a bigger role in the IMF and other multilateral institutions. Since the global financial crisis began in 2008, Mantega and other leaders from developing nations have fought for reforms in the IMF, World Bank and other multilateral institutions that would take into account the growth of emerging nations such as Brazil, China and India.
Court refuses to stop work on Amazon dam A federal court on last Wednesday rejected an appeal for suspending construction of Brazil's controversial $11 billion Belo Monte hydroelectric dam in the heart of the Amazon until after indigenous people have been consulted. The court, based in Brasilia, upheld a legislative decree that authorized construction, which is opposed by environmentalists and Amazon Indian tribes who say the dam will cause massive destruction of fauna and flora in the area. Construction of the Belo Monte dam, which would produce more than 11,000 megawatts, or about 11 percent of Brazil's current installed capacity, has been the subject of legal wrangling for decades. The project also has drawn international criticism, including from Oscar-winning movie director James Cameron of "Avatar" fame, who said rainforest indigenous tribes could turn to violence to block dam construction. The project is expected to employ 20,000 people directly in construction, flood an area of 500 square kilometers (200 square miles) along the Xingu river and displace 16,000 persons.

Police nab drug-traffickers in Rio favelas Police made two key arrests last Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro's biggest slum as they ready to wrest control of it from drug traffickers, scrambling to prepare for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games. At dawn, about 50 men from the military police's crack special forces blocked a road leading to the Rocinha favela, controlled by drug traffickers for 30 years, to search all incoming vehicles. But the timing of a broader operation, still up in the air, remained unclear. Late last Wednesday, local media ventured a broader pacification operation would come at the weekend. The newspaper O Globo reported that two alleged drug traffickers were nabbed -- "Peixe" and "Coelho," the later being the right-hand man of local drug kingpin Antonio Francisco Bomfim Lopes, alias Nem. Built on a steep hillside overlooking the "Marvelous City" and located between two wealthy neighborhoods, Rocinha is home to 120,000 people and is a drug trafficking bastion.
Brazilian Labor Minister caught up in corruption scandal
Brazil's scandal-plagued labor minister said last Wednesday that his remarks on the previous day were not directed against President Dilma Rousseff, but against slander instead. Carlos Lupi said he was not challenging the president, but rather challenging the "wave of denouncements" in the country. "I am challenging those who use lies as an instrument to tarnish people's reputations," he said. The minister said the scandal surrounding him was over, and that he was not involved in any wrongdoing and, because of that, he had no fear of upcoming investigations. Lupi said there was no evidence that the Labor Ministry's high-level employees were involved in bribery, as alleged by this week's edition of the news magazine Veja. The assistant accused of corruption by the magazine was suspended in the name of transparency, he said. However, Lupi admitted it was possible that ministry employees from lower levels were involved in irregularities. "If some twentieth-level worker did something wrong, it's jail for them," he said. Lupi is one of the seven cabinet members who served the previous administration. He has headed the Labor Ministry since 2007. In the past 10 months, six of President Rousseff's ministers have resigned after five of them were accused of corruption. On last Tuesday, Lupi said it would "take a bullet" to make him leave his post.

Olympic stadium battle revealed
The bitterness of the battle for the ÂŁ486 million London Olympic Stadium has been publicly laid bare for the first time. Baroness Ford, chairman of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC), which is in charge of securing a viable economic future for the home of the London 2012 Games, told the London Assembly: "The thing that I have learned in the last 12 months is that there has been all kinds of behaviour. "There has been legal challenges and people have stood behind it anonymously - all kinds of things have happened. "My board were put under surveillance by Tottenham Hotspur and the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur felt confident enough to say that in the Sunday Times several months ago that all 14 members of my board were put under surveillance. "The Metropolitan Police are now conducting an investigation into that surveillance. "There has been all kinds of behaviour here that I could
not have anticipated which, believe me, has not been pleasant in the last 12 months." A deal with West Ham and Newham Council to use the stadium in Stratford, east London, after the 2012 Games collapsed last month amid legal challenges, with the Government announcing that the stadium would remain in public ownership. Tottenham had already lost out to West Ham in the race to become the OPLC's first choice to move into the stadium after the Games. Legal challenges by Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient, plus an anonymous complaint to the European Commission, had led to fears that court action could drag on for years while the stadium remained empty. A new tender process is being launched by the OPLC and the showpiece venue, complete with an athletics track, will now remain in public ownership and be rented out to an anchor tenant. Scotland Yard confirmed that the investigation into the surveillance claims are "very much active".

UK growth Mps back highforecasts speed rail bid slashed
The CBI has slashed its growth forecasts for the economy but called on the Chancellor to stick to his deficit-busting austerity measures. The UK's leading business lobbying organisation, which represents some 240,000 employers, urged George Osborne to boost growth by attracting £200 billion of private sector investment over five years but said it wants the Government to continue with its spending cuts and tax reforms. The group, whose members employ a third of the private sector workforce, made the recommendations as it cut its estimates for gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 0.9% in 2011 and 1.2% in 2012, down from 1.3% and 2.2% respectively. The revised forecasts fall below the 1.7% in 2011 and 2.5% for 2012 forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) at the time of Mr Osborne's Budget in March, although these are expected to be revised downwards at the end of the month. The CBI said it had downgraded estimates after continued uncertainty in the eurozone, and the resulting weaker prospects for exports and investment, led to a marked drop in business and consumer confidence.
Stunt pilot dies after ejecting from airplane A stunt pilot with the British military's Red Arrows aerobatic display team died last Tuesday after being ejected from his aircraft while it was on the ground. The Royal Air Force released few other details, saying an investigation had been opened. The aviator's name was not released, although Group Cpt. Simon Blake said family members had been informed. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the pilot's family and friends at this difficult time," he said in a brief statement. The pilot is the second from the nine-member stunt team to die within three months. In August a Red Arrow pilot died when his jet crashed after taking part in an air show in southern England. Afghanistan war veteran Flight Lt. John Egging had joined the elite flying squad only a year earlier. The team's jets were briefly grounded but have since been given the goahead to return to the skies.
Mps scrutinising plans for a £32 billion high speed rail link connecting London with other major cities have broadly backed the project despite admitting it could have a "substantial negative effect" on the countryside. The cross-party House of Commons Transport Committee said there was "a good case" for the High Speed Two (HS2) line, which would run 250mph services from London to Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. The plans aim to cut the journey time from London to Birmingham to 49 minutes. But the project has sparked fierce opposition over concerns that it could spoil the countryside and waste public money, with campaigners touring the country with a 10ft inflatable
white elephant. Transport Committee chairman Louise Ellman, a Labour MP, said HS2 could be "a catalyst for economic growth" and help "bridge the north-south divide". Launching her committee's report, she said: "A high-speed rail network, beginning with a line between London and the West Midlands, would provide a step change in the capacity, quality, reliability and frequency of rail services between our major cities. “A high-speed line offers potential economic and strategic benefits which a conventional line does not, including a dramatic improvement in connectivity between our major cities, Heathrow and other airports, and the rest of Europe."
Rioting through Art Mass demonstrations and violent clashes against the rise of universities tuition fees in England have dominated the headlines in the last few months. With only the negative side of the story being shown by the media a group of Photography students of the University of East London are voicing their own opinion in a different way, not through loudhailers and homemade banners, but through art. An exciting and fresh alternative to the debate is opening at the heart of East London. The Rag Factory is a new, quirky looking gallery and this unique exhibition could not be held in a better place.
Using the title of £9000 to the whole exhibition brings the focus to the purpose of the event. £9000 is a revolutionary, trendy new photographic exhibition that aims to provide a more constructive and visually potent assessment of the true value of education. The work on display seeks to evaluate the cost of £9,000, but moreover it acts as a physical representation of the value too. The money will consequently be used to finance a university year for one lucky student. Is this really too much to ask? You be the judge! - By Natalia Castanheda

Demonstrators should not be able to erect a tent village outside St Paul's Cathedral in London as part of their protest against excess in the City, Prime Minister David Cameron has said. Mr Cameron said that the form of encampment seen at St Paul's and outside Parliament, where anti-war campaigners have held a vigil for more than 10 years, was not a "constructive" way to exercise the right to protest. And he dismissed suggestions that it might be a manifestation of the kind of civic activism which he hopes to encourage through his Big Society agenda. Speaking as he gave evidence to the House of Commons Liaison Committee about the Big Society, Mr Cameron said: "Obviously, the right of people to protest is fun-
damental to our country. "The idea of establishing tents in the middle of our city, I don't feel is particularly constructive. I don't think it's particularly constructive in Parliament Square and I don't think it's particularly constructive at St Paul's." Asked whether the protesters were a "manifestation of the Big Society", Mr Cameron insisted that his agenda was about making it easier for individuals to get involved in social action such as volunteering in their communities or setting up free schools. "Protest is, to me, a separate issue," he said. "It is certainly a right that people have, but I have got this rather quaint view that you shouldn't be able to erect tents all over the place.

Victoria's Secret models' extreme regimes They are not born this way. Victoria's Secret models aren't just gorgeous naturally, they need to work hard at keeping up their appearance and staying in shape. So to prepare for their strut down the runway in the yearly televised fashion show in nothing but some sexy lingerie, the girls go through some intense workout regimens and awkward diets. According to brazilian hottie Adriana Lima, she's been working out every single day since August with a trainer. And for the last three weeks she's been working out twice a day. Adds Lima: "It is really intense, it's not really the amount of time you spend working out, it's the intensity: I jump rope, I do boxing, I lift weights, but I get bored doing that. If I am not moving I get bored very easily." When it comes to food intake, there doesn't seem to be much of that going on. Lima sees a nutritionist and is prescribed vitamins, protein shakes, and supplements during her “training period.” She also drinks a gallon of water a day! And for nine days prior to the show, she'll avoid all solids and only drink protein shakes which include items like powdered egg. Then two days before the show she'll drink normally, and 12 hours before she'll stop drinking all together. Gosh! I'm already tired thinking about all this…
We love when celebs do good and this time around it's Gisele Bundchen spreading the cheer. The gorgeous model spent the day at a Boston salon with a group of 29 girls, all cancer patients from the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Bundchen, who came in as a surprise guest, posed for photos and even taught the girls how to walk like a model on the runway. As for the girls, they also got to enjoy an afternoon of pampering, consisting of manicures, pedicures, styling, makeup and more. Hannah Baiona, a 15-year-old patient, described meeting the model: “We all started clapping and everyone was excited… She individually met with us all and gave us each a rose, and gave us each a hug, and we got to tak e pictures with her. She was mostly saying hi to everyone, being like "It's nice to meet you! You look so pretty. You look so good! We made a fake little catwalk in the salon, and we each walked down it. Then there were three girls that were in wheelchairs, and she taught them to do the catwalk. Another girl and I didn't want to walk alone, so she walked arm-inarm with us.' Sources say that Gisele was so emotionally touched; she left the salon in tears. Wow! Simply gorgeous!
KATIE
HOLMES wants to return to The Creek!
I'm pretty sure that Katie doesn't have a life, but this would be epic! During a Good Morning America interview recently, Katie Holmes opened up about the possibility of reprising her Dawson's Creek role in a reunion. Here's what she had to say about it: "It would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories. A really great group of people." This HAS to happen! Let's get James Van Der Beek on the phone - he must be done with that rowing movie by now! Although there should be only ONE answer to this question - Would You like to see a Dawson's Creek reunion?

Snooki is all glamour on EMA red carpet I can't get tired of talking about Snooki, because she is tireless (isn´t she?!). But this time it is about a good thing, Snooki looked just GREAT when she stepped on the pink carpet! The Jersey Shore star attended the 2011 MTV Europe Awards in Ireland along with a few of her castmates. And unlike her past outfits, this one looked good! The 23-year-old guidette showed off her slimmer body in a tight, black, one-shoulder Gasoline Glamour mini dress complete with accessories and bling-tastic pumps also by Gasoline Glamour. We're surprised she didn't show off a ton of cleavage. Though we're glad she didn't. This different look on Snooki works well. While it definitely wasn't the best look of the night on the red carpet, it certainly was a great look on Snooki.
KELLY
OSBOURNE to judge Britain's Next Top Model
Kelly Osbourne has come a long way from when she first appeared on reality TV with her family. Now the 29-year-old beauty will be appearing on reality television yet again, this time as a judge on Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model. A source from BINTM reveals: “The plan is for Kelly to come on board and shake things up. She is a massive fan of fashion and has good pedigree working on fashion shows. Crucially, she is also young and the whole point of the show is to find the next big thing.” Miz Osbourne would likely be replacing either Grace Woodward or Charley Speed, with the source adding that the two ladies “have been on it for two years and producers are looking at how to change the lineup.” Well done, Kelly!

JAMIE LYNN Spears debuts as country singer!
Looks like Jamie Lynn Spears is ready for her turn in the spotlight. That's surprising enough, even more than the fact that she is trying as a country singer. Seriously! We don't even know what to say, but Britney Spears' younger sis took to the stage in Nashville, last week, singing songs she wrote in front of a small crowd. So is the former child star ready to resume a career after taking a break to be a full-time mom? It's unclear, but she Tweeted thanks to those who came. Jamie Lynn Spears, who has been living in Nashville for a few years with daughter Maddie, 3, played at The Rutledge, a live music venue on 4th Avenue South. Mom Lynne said she was "so proud" of her daughter after watching her sing. Father and Britney's manager were also in the crowd.

A typical German style Christmas Market will be open to the public from the 18th of November alongside the Queen's Walk between the London Eye and the Southbank Centre. This means that you don't need to wait for the other fairs and Christmas markets, usually open only in December, to enjoy the spirit of Christmas or to start hunting for Christmas presents. The market is full of original presents, Christmas ornaments for the trees, tables, doors, and a food market as well. For the kids the main attraction this year is the carousel and for the grown ups, beside all the food and presents on sale at the market, expect music and dance as the Royal Festival Hall brings a special programme during the festive period.

BAD MOODS!
Bad moods happen, and often just when we don't want them to. Everything is going great and then something happens and suddenly a bad mood grips us and threatens to ruin what, up until then, was a great day. What can we do? Eat ourselves silly? Snap at everyone who crosses our path? Look for things to fuel it so we can justify it? Let it rob us of our great day? Bad moods are going to come, however, we don't have to let them hijack us. Instead, do the opposite and no matter how bad a mood it is, find the humor in the situation, laugh and see if you can stay in a bad mood. Play music you like to dance too... Sit up straight, walk tall and smile‌ have you noticed how, when we are in a bad mood, we slouch and frown? Get moving, go for a walk or a jog, as exercise releases hormones that help lift our mood. Change the scene and find some happy people to hang out with or do something that you enjoy. Recall a happy moment and fill yourself with happy thoughts... happiness is contagious Then, when you're feeling in a better mood, take time to understand what put you in that mood. Only don't blame, as when we do, what we are really doing is allowing someone else's behaviour, situations or expectations to control our mood. So what was it that caused your bad mood? If it wasn't a particular event or person, go a bit deeper and really listen to your emotions. What's really bugging you? Is there something that you are avoiding or is there a nagging problem that has been
Aries Your powers of communication may not be so strong this week, so it's better not to make big decisions. This week, take advantage of your knowledge to obtain practical results. You will also be more emotionally open, use this time to express yourself in different aspects, listen to romantic tunes, read poems or watch good films. This week will be useful to recharge energies.
Taurus Strength and determination will be the theme of the week. You will be confident, you will fight for your rights and challenge figures of authority. Change is knocking at your door and you will tell your partner what's bothering you. It's time to clean up your internal and external life and throw away anything that doesn't suit you anymore.
Gemini This week you have to be strong when dealing with people's criticism of your decisions, especially in your professional life. You will be determined to do whatever it takes to get what you want, even though it
may seem like a waste of time to others. However, you are not worried about waiting a little longer to achieve your goals. Go ahead and trust in your abilities to open closed doors.
Cancer Practicality is the order of the week. Move on! It is time to turn your thoughts into actions. It may feel that your efforts are in vain, but at the end of the week you will see that it was all worth it. When you empty your mind you will make space for new ideas. It's time to look at life from a different perspective!
Leo You should have lots of energy to share with people around you this week. Show them how determined you are to put your life back on track. Your partner should feel proud of you because you are really accomplishing your promises and your relationship is starting to feel the freshness of happier days. At the weekend be careful not to go over the top with your celebrations because you may wake up with a bad hangover that will undo all that positive energy you have built up over the week.
Virgo You may feel strange and feel as though you might cry at any time. You may even think that something is wrong with you. Neptune is in Aquarius, which makes you more emotional than usual and you will be more in touch with your playful and sensitive side. That's OK, because not everything needs to be based on science. You may bump into someone, who reminds you of old emotions that have been sleeping until now. Don't get involved in any new projects. It's time to deal with your poetical side.
Libra This week you might feel the weight of duty from your family. You will find their demanding attitude difficult to deal with and you may have some difficult choices to make. It will be impossible to please everyone, so take a deep breath and have faith in your judgement. Don't blame your partner for not helping you, it's time to make your own decisions. At the end of week give yourself a break and go out with friends.
Scorpio Don't be afraid to share your ideas. Believe in your
building up? Is it just many accumulated and un-dealt with little problems? Take responsibility for your mood. Take your problems one by one and focus on working out solutions- stop thinking problems and start thinking solutions. You can become a good mood manager. To do this you just need to understand how your thoughts are shaping your moods. See how if you choose to think unhappy and unkind thoughts you end up in a bad mood, and then what happens when you choose to think happy and kind ones. Watch out for your negative mental filter, the one that picks out the single negative detail and takes it up again and again and again. Take hold of the reigns of our mind and consciously create happy thoughts. It really comes down to choice. It's as simple as thinking your mood away! You can further support yourself in this too by creating some habits that help you to reinforce positive feelings and diminish negative ones. You can strengthen your emotional muscles by eating balanced meals, getting restful sleep, meditating and exercising. Start the day with the thought: Today I choose to be happy and to feel good no matter what. At the same time be realistic, as even with regular practice no habit can guarantee that we won't fall into a negative mood now and then. Fortunately though, the positive habits we have created become powerful tools at these times to quickly help us to shake off that bad mood and reclaim our good day.
creativity and you will have good results in your professional life. Romance may be about to appear in your life, but you will only keep him or her if they value you like you deserve. You will be more demanding and selective this week, but it will also be a time of expansion. Take care of your appearance and show the world what you're made of.
Sagittarius It's time to arrange that meeting with that person whom you haven't seen for a long time and it's time to call that person whom you've been thinking about, but never seem to find the time for. This week you should plan to be surrounded by the friends and family and those you love. After the stressful period that you have been through together, your partner may appreciate being included in your plans for the weekend.
Capricorn This week you have to be strong when dealing with people's criticism of your decisions, especially in your professional life. You will be determined to do whatever it takes to get what you want, even though it may seem like a waste of time to others. However, you are not worried about

waiting a little longer to achieve your goals. Go ahead and trust in your abilities to open closed doors.
Aquarius Staying focused on daily life can be a challenge for you this week as you will be completely lost in your object of passion. A job interview can be a disaster or a meeting with a friend might be forgotten. Take a deep breath and be careful to not be irresponsible in the other areas of your life. Remember that you can't force love and you don't need to make such an effort to get it. Put your attention to what is essential in the moment.
Pisces Your emotions and creativity will walk hand in hand this week, which will help you to get that long forgotten project back on the road. You will be surrounded by harmony. Your personal and professional lives might be heading towards big results. Enjoy the lightness that surrounds you at this moment and enjoy yourself more. Lucas Turkey : Quake kills Papademos 7, dozens trapped named as new Greek PM Former European Central Bank vicepresident Lucas Papademos has been named as Greece's new prime minister, following days of negotiations. Mr Papademos, 64, said he was taking over at a "critical point" for Greece. Leaders of the three main parties making up a new government of national unity had been meeting the Greek president to try to reach a deal. Greeks will hope the news provides the stability to get them through their debt crisis, correspondents say.Mr Papademos, who is not a member of parliament, will head an interim government until elections can take place in February. The govermment's main task will to ensure debt-laden Greece gets its latest bailout payment, by approving a new 130bn euro international rescue package from eurozone partners and the International Monetary Fund. “The president, after recommendations by political leaders who attended the meeting, has instructed Lucas Papademos to form a new government," the president's office said in a statement.
Syrian forces kill 16 more civilians
Syrian troops have killed 16 civilians, five of whom were attending a funeral in Damascus and were caught up in the regime's continuing crackdown on dissent, a human rights group said. Starting at dawn, when the crackle of gunfire could be heard sustained for half an hour, the death toll steadily rose through the day. "Three other civilians perished under the bullet of the regime's forces at Inkhel, in the southern Daraa region, and seven protesters were wounded in the neighbouring locality of Jassem who were protesting against the repression," it added. The continuing killing, which on last Tuesday resulted in another 20 bodies, has increased international anger at Syria which only recently signed up to an Arab League peace plan that called for an end to violence. Under the plan, Damascus would also release those detained for protesting, and withdraw all Syrian forces from towns and cities. It says it has already released more than 500. But since signing the Arab roadmap, according to the United Nations, Syrian forces have killed another 60 people, adding to the UN estimate of 3,500 who have died in the crackdown on protests which erupted in mid-March.
Rescue workers have pulled out 23 survivors from the rubble of three buildings, collapsed by an earthquake in eastern Turkey, the country's disaster management authority said last week. At least seven were killed and dozens of others trapped. Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said that last Wednesday's quake toppled 25 buildings in the city of Van but only three of them were occupied since the others have been evacuated after suffering damages in last month's powerful temblor. Atalay said last Thursday that the rescue work was now concentrating at the site of two collapsed hotels and one apartment building. The disaster management authority said 23 survivors were pulled out along with the bodies of seven people. The magnitude-5.7 quake was a grim replay of the previous magnitude-7.2 earthquake that hit Oct. 23, killing more than 600 people.
Iran won't leave Npath : Ahmadinejad Iran won't retreat "one iota" from its nuclear program, but the world is being misled by claims that it seeks atomic weapons, president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last week in his first reaction since a United Nations watchdog report that Tehran is on the brink of developing a warhead. Ahmadinejad also strongly chided the UN International Atomic Energy Agency, saying it is discrediting itself by siding with "absurd" US accusations. "This nation won't retreat one iota from the path it is going," Ahmadinejad told thousands of people in Shahre-Kord in central Iran. "Why are you ruining the prestige of the (UN nuclear) agency for absurd US claims," he said.

France warns Iran of "unprecedented" sanctions
France said last week that it wanted to convene the UN Security Council and could push for unprecedented sanctions against Iran after a UN nuclear watchdog report said Tehran had worked to develop an atomic bomb design. "If Iran refuses to conform to the demands of the international community and refuses any serious cooperation, we stand ready to adopt, with other willing countries, sanctions on an unprecedented scale," Juppe said. Juppe told RFI radio tough sanctions were needed to "prevent Iran from continuing to obtain resources that allow it to pursue its activities in violation of all international rules". The report from the International Atomic Energy Agency, citing what it called credible information from member states and elsewhere, listed a series of activities applicable to developing nuclear weapons, such as high explosives testing and the development of an atomic bomb trigger.
Dalai Lama slams 'cultural genocide' The desperate conditions Tibetans face under Beijing's rigid controls in what amounted to "cultural genocide" are behind the spate of selfimmolations in southwest China, Tibet's exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said on last Monday. At least 11 Tibetans have set themselves ablaze this year in a heavily Tibetan part of China's Sichuan province that has become a focus of defiance against Beijing rule. "Including many Chinese from mainland China who visit Tibet, they all have the impression things are terrible. Some kind of cultural genocide is taking place," the Dalai Lama said. Chinese officials have launched a hardline policy against Tibet in the last 10 to 15 years, he added. "That's why, you see, these sorts of sad incidents happen, due to the desperation of the situation ," he said.

China coal mine blast kills 20
At least 20 workers were killed and another 23 were trapped underground after a blast at a mine in China on last Thursday, state media said, in the latest disaster to hit the country's vast mining industry. The mine was hit by a "coal and gas outburst", a sudden and violent ejection of coal, gas and rock from a coal face in a mine, which can cause serious injuries and damage machinery, a local mine safety official said. The official China News Service (CNS) said 20 people had been confirmed dead, and that efforts to rescue the remaining 23 from the mine in the southwestern province of Yunnan were being hampered by a gas leak. "Eighteen rescue workers are down in the coal mine, but the high levels of gas could cause an explosion, making it hard to progress with the rescue," Tan Xiaopeng, the head of the local firefighting department, told CNS. The accident at the privately run Sizhuang Coal Mine comes days after a rock blast in a coal mine in the central province of Henan trapped dozens of workers underground.

Israel court upholds ex-prez rape sentence Israel's Supreme Court on last Thursday rejected an appeal lodged by former president Moshe Katsav against his conviction for rape and other sexual offences, and upheld his seven-year jail term. The disgraced 65-year-old showed little emotion as the three justices read out their decision, decreeing that Katsav would begin serving his sentence on December 7. He was convicted in December 2010 of two counts of rape, sexual harassment, indecent acts and obstruction of justice after an 18-month trial which included harrowing accusations, and portrayed him as a sexual predator who routinely harassed his female staff. In March, the court sentenced him to seven years behind bars, which Katsav also appealed. But the judges upheld the sentence which will begin in four weeks time. In a unanimous ruling, the three judges upheld Katsav's conviction on two counts of rape and rejected his "alternative
scenarios", in the case of the main victim, "A" he had argued that the two were having an affair and that the sex was consensual. "We have unanimously decided to not change the District Court's decision on 'A', that he raped her," the judges said. "There is no evidence for the affair thesis." One by one, the judges refuted the claims made by the defence, ruling that the testimonies of the women involved were "reliable" while that of the former president was not. Katsav was smiling as he entered the courtroom and greeted well-wishers, and for the most part sat impassively through the hour-long hearing. His only outburst came when one of the judges suggested he had used the media to his own advantage. "I never gave TV interviews!" he shouted. The former president had been due to begin serving his sentence on May 8, but the court agreed to delay it until he completed his appeal.
One dead, several hurt Market in Yemen protests pressures on Italy ease slightly Market pressure on Italy eased somewhat last Thursday after the president vowed to accelerate reforms to make way for Premier Silvio Berlusconi's resignation as early as this weekend and a bond sale went better than expected. President Giorgio Napolitano assured skittish investors that Berlusconi will step down after reforms are passed, likely by this week, and he named respected economist Mario Monti senator for life in a move that puts him in line to run the next government. Italy is under intense pressure to prove it has the political strength to enact measures to increase confidence in its ability to repay its debts, which stand at a huge 120 percent of economic output. But economic growth is weak and the government has been incapable of pushing through reforms to revive it over the past decade. Investors are worried that if Italy's borrowing rates remain too high for too long, it will be blocked out of financial markets and need rescue loans to repay its bondholders. That would be devastating for both the euro and the global economy. The yield on the benchmark 10-year bonds dropped below 7 percent on last Thursday after a bond sale went better than expected.
One person died and several were hurt in clashes on last Thursday in the flashpoint city of Taez and the capital Sanaa during protests calling for Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh's prosecution, medics and witnesses said. The bloodletting came as UN envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar arrived in Sanaa in an attempt to resolve the political crisis that has thrown the country into a spiral of violence in which hundreds have died since January. "One man was killed and five others were wounded," said a medical official in Taez, Yemen's second city. Witnesses said Republican Guard troops, commanded by Saleh's son Ahmed, fired artillery
rounds into the centre of Taez where tens of thousands of protesters were staging a demonstration to call for Saleh to be brought to international justice. Meanwhile, armed civilians opened fire on a similar demonstration in Sanaa, wounding three people, witnesses and medics there said. “No immunity, no guarantee, Saleh must be tried with his regime," chanted the protesters as they marched on central Sanaa. "World, UN Security Council: Saleh is a war criminal." The protesters were met with live rounds fired on them from a building as they neared the capital's centre, witnesses said.
Curfew imposed, troops deployed in Nigerian city Authorities imposed an indefinite 24-hour curfew and deployed troops in the Nigerian town of Kafanchan last Wednesday following clashes between Muslim and Christian youths, an official said. Kafanchan, a major town in northern Kaduna state, and neighbouring Zonkwa, were the theatre of deadly postelection riots in April in which several hundreds of people died. Kaduna state government spokesman Reuben Buhari said "the government imposed an indefinite 24-hour curfew last Wednesday on Kafanchan following reports of threat to public peace in the town". "The situation has been brought under control and more soldiers and policemen have been deployed to the town. Soldiers have been ordered to arrest anyone seen outside on the streets," Buhari said. Residents in the town said that trouble started when security agents arrested some Christian youths, accused of killing their Muslim friend who visited them the previous day in their mainly Christian neighbourhood.

PepsiCo, the US drinks and snacks company, expanded its push into emerging markets on last Thursday with the acquisition of Grupo Mabel, a Brazilian cookie company. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but insiders said that Pepsi acquired Mabel for about $500m. “PepsiCo continues to build its global macro-snacks portfolio and make strategic investments that will drive our business performance and unlock long-term growth opportunities,” John Compton, chief executive officer of PepsiCo Americas Foods and Global Snacks Group, said in a statement. “Brazil is an extremely important market for PepsiCo and this acquisition well positions us in a key segment in the snack category there.” Pepsi said the acquisition, which is pending approval from Brazil's Council for Economic Defense, will strengthen its presence in Latin America and complement its snacks business. The company will employ 12,000 workers in Brazil after the deal closes. PepsiCo has been ramping up its efforts in emerging markets as the US economy continues to struggle.
Brazil steel firm Gerdau anticipates slowdown Panic in financial markets isn't yet hitting Gerdau SA's steel sales, but a slowdown in steel demand growth could occur next year as clients adopt a "wait and see" approach amid economic uncertainty, the steelmaker's chief executive officer, Andre Gerdau Johannpeter, said last Thursday. "We don't know yet how the financial panic, the volatility, will impact the real economy next year, but clients are waiting before rebuilding inventories," Gerdau Johannpeter said in a conference call. According to Brussels-based WorldSteel Association, global demand for steel should grow 6.5% this year and a further 5.4% in 2012. The Gerdau CEO noted that the figures have not been revised in recent weeks despite global market turbulence. "We expect the global steel market to continue to grow in 2012 but we're cautious on the world outlook," he said. Emerging countries should account for around 73% of total global steel consumption next year, Gerdau Johannpeter said, citing WorldSteel Association data. However, monetary restrictions in emerging nations tend to make it difficult to see the true impact of the slowdown in global steel demand growth, he said. Gerdau executive vice-president, finances, Osvaldo Schirmer, said that Gerdau plans to use its expanded cash position, following a share issue which raised BRL3.6 billion in April, to invest in existing projects but not to make acquisitions.
27.4 million Brazilians have already bought goods or services online, out of a population of 190 million. Foreign investors have taken note of the rise of ecommerce in the country, and started to invest in local online retailers. But what about the sector's giants? Well, some of them are certainly eyeing this huge market. If recent clues are to be believed, Amazon may be about to launch retail operations in Brazil. Indeed, a major Brazilian publisher reported in May this year that they were negotiating the sale of e-books rights with Amazon. According to these reports, the American company has been working on heavily increasing the number of books in Portuguese in its Kindle Store to compete with local players such as the bookstore chain Saraiva. Besides, the company is currently hiring a “Senior Vendor Manager, Amazon Kindle” who will be based in Sao Paulo to liaise with publishers. Publishing isn't the only area Amazon is officially looking at in Brazil; the company is also developing its Web Services (AWS) in Latin America (as confirmed by another job offer for Sao Paulo). Back in September, it officially announced the launch of an edge location in Sao Paulo to serve Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53 – the company's first edge location in South America.

Europe debt HMRC praised for online tax returns crisis setbacks crashes Asian stocks Setbacks in Europe's efforts to isolate a debt crisis before it engulfs Italy or blows up into an all-out recession sent Asian stock markets tumbling. Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 2.4 percent to 8,549.94 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng dived 4.4 percent to 19,127.04. South Korea's Kospi slid 3.4 percent to 1,842.80 and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 2.7 percent to 4,229.10. The losses in Asia tracked those in New York, where the Dow Jones industrial average fell almost 400 points, its worst decline since Sept. 22. Global stock markets were rattled last week, when Italy's main borrowing rate blew past 7 percent. That was considered an important level because Greece, Portugal and Ireland required bailouts from other nations when interest rates on their bonds hit 7 percent. "Risk appetite took a severe hit as eurozone crisis deepened with contagion to Italy," Credit Agricole CIB wrote in a research report. "Given the sheer size of the Italian bond market, the impact of its insolvency would be disastrous." Investors were further unnerved after government talks in Greece aimed at avoiding a default on its massive debts broke down in chaos. Markets fear that a Greek default would lead to huge losses for European banks - and potentially to a global lending freeze similar to what happened after Lehman Brothers fell in 2008.
Bank of England urged to fix rates for a year Scottish Chambers of Commerce is calling on the Bank of England to follow the example of the US Federal Reserve by signalling an intention to keep UK base rates at a record low of 0.5% throughout next year. The call from Liz Cameron, chief executive of Scottish Chambers, came after the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee said last week that it was holding rates at 0.5% and sticking with its £275 billion quantitative easing programme to boost UK money supply through purchases of Government and corporate bonds. Her suggestion coincided with the publication of forecasts from the European Union underlining the grim UK outlook. The EU slashed its UK growth forecasts for 2011 and 2012 to just 0.7% and 0.6% respectively. The Office for Budget Responsibility, set up by Chancellor George Osborne, in March forecast UK growth of 2.5% in 2012. The US central bank's Federal Open Market Committee gave explicit guidance on the interest-rate outlook in the world's largest economy at the end of its regular policy meeting last week, declaring: “The committee [has] decided to keep the target range for the federal funds rate at zero to 0.25% and currently anticipates that economic conditions – including low rates of resource utilisation and a subdued outlook for inflation over the medium-run – are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels for the federal funds rate at least through mid-2013.”
A drive by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to encourage people to file tax returns online has been a "real achievement" but it is unclear whether the system is providing value for money, a National Audit Office (NAO) report has found. The NAO, which scrutinises public spending on behalf of Parliament, looked at how HMRC has rolled out online filing since 2006. More than 11.5 million customers a year submit one or more tax returns to the Revenue's "ambitious" online programme, the NAO said. Filing tax returns online cuts processing, storage, stationery and postal costs and is in line with Government plans to expand digital services. But predicted cumulative savings from online filing have been revised
down, from £220 million by 2011-2012 to £190 million. HMRC estimates that expanding online filing has delivered £126 million in savings so far. The report described HMRC's online drive as a "real achievement", being on track and on budget. A spokeswoman for HMRC said: "Our online services have enabled, this year alone, a record 6.9 million people to send their selfassessment tax returns to us over the internet. In addition, 93% of company returns and over three-quarters of all VAT returns have come in over the internet. In excess of 11 million taxpayers now take advantage of our online services, enjoying many benefits and saving the taxpayer £60 million a year."

Sport Fighting against time
Ian Thorpe is back in the game. Thorpe swan at the Singapore round of the World Cup but his modest time made us think. Will he have enough time to get ready for a worthy crack at the Australian team for London 2012 come trials in March next year? For his coaches Gennadi Touretski and Leigh Nugent, the answer is yes. "In his training when he first started, I thought 'this is going to be a pretty hard job'. Now when I see him swim, it just proves to you that great athletes can return to what they're good at relatively quickly. "For him it was never just about 2012, it was beyond 2012, obviously 2012 is a pretty big stepping stone along the way and that's got to be the primary goal, you couldn't gauge anything from this. It was more about opening up the competitive part of his preparation and probably swimming something immeasurable.", said Nugent.

Brazil 1958 memories to be demolished The Rasunda stadium will be knocked down. During an annual awards ceremony, the Swedish Football association announced that their national side will face Brazil in a friendly on August 15th 2012.The Rasunda was opened in 1937 and has a capacity of 35,000–36,608 depending on usage and is one of two stadiums in the world to have hosted the World Cup finals for both men and women. It hosted the men's final in the 1958 World Cup and the women's final in the 1995 Women's World Cup. The stadium was the famous venue where Brazil won the first of their five World Cups, beating Sweden 5-2 in the final back in 1958. Lars-Ake Lagree, the president of the Swedish Football Federation, said, ''we are proud, happy and full of expectations to end an era of the Rasunda with an encounter against the Brazilian team that represents a lot to the world of football and to us.''

MASSA out of Ferrari? Massa's contract with Ferrari runs until after the 2012 campaign, but his poor performances the past few years have led to speculation that the team could pair Fernando Alonso with another driver next year. However, Domenicali insists the Brazilian will be on the grid for Ferrari come the start of the new season. "I am also counting heavily on Felipe's will to fight back as he knows next year will be a key one in which, and I'm convinced of it, he will be able to show his true worth," he said during Ferrari's World Finals event at Mugello. "As for the rumours regarding all the drivers who are due to arrive in Maranello to replace him, I can only repeat my words and indeed those only recently uttered by our President (Luca di Montezemolo), in every possible way, Felipe will also be with us in 2012 and that should make you understand how much faith we have in him."
