othing is too big or too difficult to accomplish. I’m a self starter, self motivated, hard working person. I always look for the next, new and exciting project to conquer. I am able to identify and bring out the best in people with talent, building an experienced and motivated team is my forte. I expend all efforts and urge my team to execute and reach the desired goals. Deadlines are holy in my book and missing them is as missing the Super Bowl commercials. I consider myself a diverse person with big dreams. I keep myself involved in a variety of media projects to satisfy my creative nature. Whether they are in print, online, video or events, I always want to conquer new areas of media. I enjoy observing and admiring the beautiful work by others. This helps me be more creative and competitive for my next project. Nothing is better than the rush of competition to make me excel in my field of expertise. Self motivation and determination are my drive to accomplish and give the best I can in everything I do. Nothing is too hard to do and nothing is too little to overlook.

Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.

hen Iman first discussed with me the idea of this new documentary she was working on, the first thing I thought about was the kind of danger she would be putting herself in. Exposing herself to the American people as a representative of the typical Muslim-American woman would be like a matador dressed entirely in red standing in front of an angry bull! We as Muslims know that there is a great deal of misunderstanding about our religion, whether it be about our treatment of woman, our justification of jihad and the false belief that it permits acts of terrorism, or even the way we raise our children. Iman is not only my cousin, she has been my best friend since we were about 4 years old. Although I worry about her during her travels around the country, a country where you will find different ranges of fear and hatred for Islam, I couldn’t think of anyone better to commit to this journey across the land. Iman is not an expert in Islam, not many Muslims are. Sending a scholar in her place would defeat the purpose of portraying the identity of a “typical” Muslim-American. Iman is like many Muslim-Americans, in that she lives her life incorporating Islam into every aspect of it. She is a mother who does homework with her children, bakes cookies, works on creative art projects with her kids, while juggling karate and ballet class for her son and daughters. She is a wife who supports her husband through whatever venture he tackles, fills her husbands shoes at home until he gets back from his numerous business trips, and attempts to cook dinner the days when they do finally sit together at the dinner table. She is my best friend who, no matter what she is doing at the moment, will put it down and be there for me. Since September 11, Americans have grown increasingly fearful of Muslims. Some people openly express their hatred to Muslims, while others find more silent, anonymous ways to communicate their true feelings of Muslims. When I read the commentary on an article that discusses Islam, I tremble at the idea of meeting some of these people, who make such comments as: “Death to all Muslims”, “We should put them all in concentration camps”, or “Look at that headscarf her husband forced her to wear!” This is why most Muslims have become so silent and fear socializing with non-Muslims. Some Muslims even fear to go out alone at night. I have heard the saying from many Muslims that our religion was hijacked by terrorists who associate themselves with Islam. I completely agree with this statement. The wreckage these terrorists continually leave behind for us Muslims to clean up is so widespread that I fear we will never succeed at eradicating the damage that has been done. Iman has always been the type of person who, when introducing herself to a non-Muslim, will try to soothe the fears of that person by cracking a funny joke, or even making fun of herself. She was never skeptical about openly practicing her religion. In high school, she was the only Muslim to wear the headscarf, and although kids made fun of her, she still held her head up high and proved to everyone that she was a normal teenager who could succeed at anything she put her mind to. Even when our families questioned her decision to wear the headscarf at such a young age, she stuck to her decision and proved that she was brave enough to withstand the criticism. I am fully confident that along her journeys across this land, she will adjust, and she will succeed at whatever obstacle she comes across. This is the Iman I want America to know, for when they meet Iman, their perception when they see a Muslim American in the street will have changed. And hopefully, the next time they hear about a terrorist act and its so-called association with Islam, that American can say, “That’s not true. I’ve met a Muslim before and she wasn’t a terrorist. She was a “normal” American.” Maybe one day, after people have met Iman, either on her journey walking the land or even by watching this documentary, this will happen.
