NEW! Vintage Porcelain Tutor | Thea Rogers

NEW! Using Colour Expressively Silver Clay Jewellery Tutor | Jo Dix Tutor | Jill Pemberton

Sat 19 Jul Code JUL VP Fee A £30 | B £24 | C £15

Sat 19 Jul Code JUL UCE Fee A £30 | B £24 | C £15

This taster workshop is suitable to students who would like to experiment with porcelain clay. Using vintage textiles/stamps to create beautiful textured, intricate surfaces, clay can be transformed into a hanging ornament, decorative object or made into a dish, cup or vase. Using hand-building techniques, students will be taught how to handle and prepare porcelain and basic techniques for shaping and forming by hand. An Introduction to Hand-Built Porcelain will form part of our weekly schedule in September.

This workshop is a natural ‘follow on’ to the Expressive Drawing workshop. Although it is not necessary to have been on that workshop you need to have an interest in developing the impact of colour in your drawings This one-day workshop hopes to encourage the progression from mark and line into shape, space and form using colour- not as an ‘addition’ to drawing but as cohesion of concepts within the work. It asks the artist to consider the ‘whole’ piece as it evolves- the hierarchy of emphasis and structure within an abstract composition.

Sat 26 Jul Code JUL SCJ Fee A £37 | B £29.60 | C £18.50 Art clay silver is an exciting modelling material that can be modelled like a fine-textured clay and when heated becomes 99.9% pure solid silver. It can be rolled, stretched, textured and layered with simple tools before being assembled and cast. It is great for making earrings, pendants, rings and beads. Ideal for both beginners and those hobbyist jewellers who are looking for something new. “Jo is a fantastic teacher, really approachable and supportive. A Great Day!”

Use a stronger yoga routine that energises and calms, flexes and relaxes through breath work and postures. This class is suitable for those with a reasonable level of fitness who want to extend their yoga practice. This open class is traditional, slow-paced and meditative and helps encourage proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind.

Yoga Nidra is a state of mind between wakefulness and sleep that opens the deep phases of the mind. The practice takes place lying down under a blanket. Yoga Nidra creates greater mental clarity, problem-solving ability and can be used to improve sports performance and recovery. It doesn’t require great skill or physical capability and can be used as an adjunct to other healing modalities and treatments.

The Dynamic ‘Vinyasa Flow’ Yoga is a heating, flowing sequence of Yoga postures that move from sequence to sequence by means of a Vinyasa. The sequencing pays particular homage to the primary and intermediate Ashtanga series. The results which are both immediate in certain areas and cumulative in others are: a light, strong and athletic body, a peaceful mind and a happy persona.

“This is a really important class in many respects; it improves the quality of thought & focus”

“I enjoyed various techniques which was beneficial for my whole body. I recommend this class.”
