28-29 April (check website for times) Back for 2017! A weekend of intimate, cutting-edge performances from some of the best theatre companies in the UK. Thought-provoking and fun, we’re bringing ‘The Fringe’ vibe to Kendal!

Made in China Theatre – Tonight I’m Gonna Be The New Me

Tom Adams – Elephant and Castle

In Bed with my Brother – We Are Ian

Fri 28 Apr

Sat 29 Apr

Fri 28 Apr

For the last two years, Tom has been recording himself sleeping.

1989. Manchester. A frenzy of drugs, beats and bucket hats. Illegal raves. Acid parties. Just jumping up and down in a field and throwing two fingers to Thatcher… Remember it?

A woman takes to the stage. A man watches from the wings. They both wonder if their love will survive what’s about to happen. An arresting physical endurance act that crashes headfirst into an impossibly true love story – and out the other side. It exposes how we perform our relationships amidst a reality that just won’t live up to what the movies promised. ‘murderously entertaining’ The Guardian

In Bed with my Brother - We Are Ian - Sat 29 Apr

He introduces the recordings accompanied with a live soundtrack of vocals and guitar, on a loop station in a unique collaboration with pianist and singer Lillian Henley.

Ian does and we’re going back to 1989 with him. We’re gonna get off our peanuts. We’re gonna bounce around like idiots. And Ian’s going to show us how. We’re mad fer it. And you will be too. Let’s party!

Jenny uses microphotography to depict grains of sand from around the world.

Annie is an abstract artist working in paint, print, textiles and photography.

She explores the vast array of astounding shapes and colours found in sand - then delves deeper to discover ‘hidden worlds’ on the sand grain surfaces and what appear to be landscapes within landscapes.

She is interested in the balance between letting the materials produce magic moments within the work and then taking control. This show of new work explores experiences of flooding in Cumbria.

Kelly focuses on silkscreen printing as a way of combining quirky, architectural sketches with mark making and hand written text. This exhibition includes work inspired by Kelly’s recent explorations of Morecambe Bay. Kelly was selected for this exhibition by the Brewery Visual Arts Committee from Artfest North 2016.

All our art is free to view, and all art is available to buy. Digital art is a major part of the visual arts programme at the Brewery. For details of exhibitions in the Warehouse Café and Intro Bar, visit www.breweryarts.co.uk.
