Love truly inspires us. B 9
Fittingly, the theme of love inspires the pages within Bridal Fantasy Magazine, taking its starting point from the romantic mood on today’s runways, elegantly tailored gowns, subtly sensuous lace. High style lovers take note over the top is definitely back. Elsewhere, we look at the modern world of love, relationships and marriage and examine how we are now expressing that love. Bridal Fantasy brings you incredible wedding fashion, plus unique beauty makeup and hairstyles, travel, home, lifestyle and social issues. Personally, our family just experienced a beautiful wedding in Positano, Italy when our youngest son Sterling, married his beautiful Catherine. More than a few tears were shed over the amazing, loving vows these two exchanged. Positano is Italy’s city of love and what amazing venue to celebrate an occasion filled with so much love. From the scenic views, the incredible food, wine, and of course love. When we arrived home we had a big wedding reception in the backyard of our home to celebrate family, friends, and love. After all that’s what life is all about. Enjoy the issue and let us know what you think.

Ron Ben ISRAEL As Chef-Owner of one of the most established couture cake studios in the world, Ron Ben-Israel started his confectionery adventures after a fifteenyear career as a professional modern dancer. Upon retiring from performing with companies spanning three continents, he utilized his fine art schooling and ballet training to master the discipline of pastry arts. After apprenticeships and engagements in Toronto, Canada and Lyon, France, he was led to New York City. In 1996, his cakes were discovered while on display in the windows of Mikimoto on Fifth Avenue and commissions quickly followed from Villeroy & Boch, Baccarat, DeBeer’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bergdorf-Goodman. In 1999, Ron established his flagship design studio and bakery in Manhattan’s fashionable SoHo neighborhood. After calling SoHo home for fifteen years, the company moved to a new, expansive location in the heart of Manhattan’s iconic Garment District. The new facility includes a design studio, showroom, production kitchen and teaching classroom. It also hosts social and corporate events under the name Above Twelve. The collections of trendsetting cakes can be spotted in many of New York’s premiere hotels and venues. They also have been featured in countless publications, including The New York Times, In Style, Vogue Magazine and Martha Stewart Weddings, with which Ron has collaborated extensively for over 20 years.
B 17
Many television shows, films and books also have chronicled the success of the bakery. Ron and his work have been highlighted on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Bravo’s Top Chef—Just Desserts, The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS) and The Martha Stewart Show. Ron also has appeared in Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva and HBO’s Everyday People. 5rThe bakery was fictionalized in the New York Times’ bestselling novel Shopaholic Ties The Knot, by Sophie Kinsella. In 2011 the bakery received further acclaim when Ron became host and judge of the Food Networks’ hit show Sweet Genius, which aired for three seasons. Since then he has been a favorite judge and guest on numerous Food Network programs, including Chopped, America’s Best Cook, Worst Cooks in America, Guy’s Grocery Games, Halloween Baking Championship and All-Star Gingerbread Build. Ron was also a co-judge on Cake Wars for three seasons. Ron travels the U.S. and internationally as a teacher, lecturer and motivational speaker. He is a popular headliner at culinary and pastry conventions as well as at special-events and fundraisers. He is the only Guest Master Pastry Chef at the renowned International Culinary Center in New York City where he shares his passion, techniques and secrets with the students through exclusive demos and classes. Some of Ron’s most well-known cakes include the trendsetting Sex and the City 2 cake in partnership with Swarovski, as well as The Plaza’s 100th birthday cake—an exact confectionery replica of the famed New York landmark, measuring over 12’ tall and serving 1,500 guests. Ron is a proud member of City Harvest’s Food Council and its Advisory Board, which brings together over sixty of New York City’s top chefs, restaurateurs and food industry professionals to aid the organization in the fight against hunger.
Q & A with Ron
Q.
hat are the most important questions W for couples to ask when choosing or designing their wedding cake?
Q.
A.
Make sure your baker is fully licensed and insured and that they can deliver your cake to the venue on time. Visit the facility where the vendor will be making your cake to make sure they are receptive to your design ideas. Their kitchen should be impeccably clean and well-maintained. Remember, a beautiful wedding cake should be a collaborative effort between the couple and their baker.
A.
Don’t let your cake maker convince you to exceed your budget with elaborate design ideas. The cake should taste as good as it looks and it is worth the investment to work with someone who is committed to using fresh ingredients that will create a stable, delicious finale to your special day.
Q. A.
re there any unique flavors A that you recommend?
Before considering flavors, we insist on quality ingredients and procedures that insure a great experience. Europeanstyle rich butter is transformed to Swiss Merengue butter-cream, Valrhona Chocolate is added for depth of flavor and creaminess, and we use fresh fruit as a base for the cake fillings. In a typical tasting session, the clients would be presented with 16 different options ranging from Vanilla and Chocolate to Passion Fruit and Salted Caramel. There is no limit on the possible variations and we offer something unique for every occasion.
I f there are different tiers do you think each one should be a different flavor?
We allow the clients to customize each tier with a different flavor combination. However, this often creates confusion during the reception, as it’s impossible for the caterer to offer each guest a choice. We offer such interesting combinations of flavors and texture in each slice, so each serving offers a varied experience.
Q.
hat are you offering to W accommodate for dietary restrictions such as Vegan, Gluten Free, Dairy Free diets?
A.
We are happy to accommodate gluten and dairy restrictions, and the results are quite amazing. However, we recommend a specialized bakery for Vegan cakes, as we rely on ingredients such as eggs for the stability of the finished product. As a consideration, some clients would ask for a single tier to serve themselves, while the rest of the cake would be from our standard offerings.

2019
WEDDING DÉCOR TRENDS The Royal Ripple Inspired by Harry & Megan’s illustrious May affair, the ripple of royalty will continue to sweep across weddings in 2019. From elegant archways of greenery, classic white florals and sleek bridal fashions, look to see the former Ms. Markle’s influence everywhere. Transform the dynamic of any event space into a party fit for a modern-day princess with elaborate white blooms [think garden roses and peonies], stylish chairs and linen fit for royalty.
Unique Venues Brides today are anything but ordinary and as a result are foregoing traditional ballrooms for unique venues such as warehouses, coffee shops, breweries, vineyards, restaurants and tents. These distinct spaces offer a blank canvas, perfect for tailoring décor to a specific style. Not only are these venues unique in their appearance, they typically let you build an event from the ground up giving you the opportunity to showcase your style as a couple.
Geometric Accents Everywhere Abstract art is everywhere and we are all for it! Step up your wedding décor game with geometric accents and visually enticing pieces. Modern edges are showing up in centerpieces, backdrops, stationary, wedding favours, and everything in between.
Go Bold, Stay Gold Think bold tones such as midnight blue, forest green, and burgundy paired with mixed metallics. These striking colours are making appearances all around from trendy velvet linen to dramatic event lighting and coloured glassware to candles. Strong colours are guaranteed to look remarkable no matter the season. A true wedding classic, look for gold accents everywhere from flatware to candleholders to carry the metallic trend through your ceremony and reception.
New year, new tends! This year’s wedding décor trends are bigger, bolder, and better than ever.

PL A N N I NG • D ÉC O R KEEPING WITH TRADITION The classics never go out of style, and that certainly rings true for traditionallystyled weddings. It’s easy to elevate a primarily ivory palate by adding gem-studded accessories to an updo or a dress.
Choose metallic holders for seating cards and tables numbers – bright, eye catching elements make it easier for guests to find their way.
B
For a romantic touch, blush is the perfect base for a sweet yet elevated palette. Try combining roses, peonies and other more traditional blooms with unexpected greens like eucalyptus and succulents to add texture and interest as well as gently balancing the color palette. ENDLESS ROMANCE
26
And, a touch of tulle helps add in softness too. DOWN TO EARTH We’re hitting the great (but stylish) outdoors. Rustic moss mats and wood cuts are functional and fashionable pieces that add height and texture to a table.
YOUR WEDDING STYLE WITH DAVID TUTERA
Create a burlap table runner, napkin set, or chair drape–the neutral color and texture ties earthy elements together perfectly. Some of the best, modern weddings are minimalist in style but feature bold accents for a touch of extravagance. But that doesn’t require an extravagant budget. For table settings, I love layering big palm leaves to make a statement and use rose gold silverware and geometric centerpieces as anchors. 21ST CENTURY STYLE
From simple to elegant and modern to traditional - Your wedding should simply feel and represent who you are as individuals and a couple. Sure, styling the perfect wedding can feel daunting at times, but wedding and entertaining extraordinaire David Tutera has your tips for the right mix of DIY and pre-made touches to bring any celebration to life. After all, as David says “Celebrate Your Life in Style”.
SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING’S EASY
Bright florals are the perfect way to channel summertime energy for the whole bridal party. Choose wedding favors that reflect the color palate, to help guests bring a bit of the fun home. David Tutera

Become Your Own Sommelier Choosing the food for your big day can be one thing, and choosing the wine can be another. Should you splurge on fancy labels or wine glass charms for your friends and family? Chances are, your guests will be less interested in the visual aspects of your choice if you have chosen a wine that suits the food you will be serving. First off, you should always match the colours of the wine and meat to be served - and not for aesthetic reasons. White wine has a lighter flavour that goes well with light-coloured foods, like chicken, rice, and pasta. A red wine, no matter how pricey, will be overwhelming with these kinds of foods. If you will be having steak or dark vegetables, a red will likely be a better choice. Chardonnay is currently the world's favorite white wine, and will likely be a crowd pleaser. Another safe choice for white wines is Riesling, especially if you are serving food that will be spicy or bold. As for red wines, red wine blends are consistently growing in popularity. These are light, delicious, and taste more like juice than wine. If you prefer a wine with more of a punch, Cabernet Sauvignon is usually a crowd pleaser. Another option to consider is serving a rose wine. These go well with a variety of foods and flavours, and are light and romantic - perfect for a wedding. However, if you prefer pink, do your research! Many of your guests may not care for a simple White Zinfandel, and you will want to show them that you have put thought and consideration into your choice. When choosing a wedding wine, the safe choice is often the right choice. You will want to please as many of your guests as possible, and choosing your favorite, harshest red wine may not be the way to do so. Spend some time deciding, and maybe recruit your bridesmaids for the tasting process!

Having a high quality bar is always a big hit and will leave people talking about your wedding for years. The best way to ensure your bar has everything it needs is to get the booking process started when you book your venue. If not, you could be left scrambling and end up with a bartender that isn’t professional, is slow and unskilled, or in the worst case, might not be able to trust. If you want to take your bar to the next level it has never been easier! The icing on the (wedding) cake is to have a Custom Cocktail Experience. Strong Bartending begins this process with a survey to find your tastes to then design a selection of signature cocktails from the bottom-up that taste exactly how you like and represent exactly who you are. From there, they’ll send a bartender right to your home and make the cocktails they’ve designed for you to try! Let it be small and intimate with you and your fiancé or invite the whole wedding party and make a party of it! Strong Bartending has a streamlined and efficient booking and information process. Starting simply with a request for a quote in which you’ll give a few details about your wedding, the process transforms into a completely customizable experience that leaves you with no questions left unanswered and a price that gets you want you want and fits your budget. FLOWER FLAIR Today’s trends are easy to adapt and make your own - whether you’re a boldly bohemian bride or you’re tying the knot with a chic traditional ceremony, your posies will look perfect!
When you’re choosing your florist, it’s a good idea to meet with approximately three florists to compare their pricing, style, and if they’re a good personality fit. Ask your wedding and reception venue if they have anyone they would recommend and take referrals from family and friends, especially if you liked the flowers at their recent nuptials! Focus on learning about your florist’s services and approach - be sure to ask for their wedding portfolio. Once you’ve settled on “the one”, make the most of your appointments! Make sure to bring fabric swatches of the bridal party’s dresses, pictures of your dress and the venue, and some ideas that you love. Come with an open mind; like all wedding vendors, these specialists understand how to create the showstopping look you want while staying within
your budget. They’ll also have great suggestions for flower pairings, be able to recommend blooms that are in season (or look so fabulous you won’t care that they’re out of season), and present a few amazing design ideas perfect for you!

Wondering what trends we’re saving in our inspiration file? Here are our favourites: • LOOSE AND UNRULY. Both bouquets and arrangements are saying goodbye to tight, traditional shapes in favour of organic shapes bursting with beautiful blooms! Greenery, branches and ferns add interesting texture and volume that complements this perfectly imperfect vibe. • FRESHLY PICKED. Consider featuring local, in season flowers for an English-garden inspired look that is both beautiful and environmentally friendly. • TRADITIONAL FAVOURITES. Flowers like carnations and chrysanthemums have often been eschewed as overused but they’ve made a comeback thanks to the beautiful heirloom varietals cultivated by independent flower farms. • VASES WITH PERSONALITY. Gather your flowers and greenery in unique containers! Add a bit of glimmer with mercury glass and antique cut glass vases or embrace the shine with metal containers in rose gold, copper, silver, or gold. Embrace interesting shapes too: geometric pots, unexpected containers, and mismatched vases are a great way to spice up your arrangements without distracting from your florals. • CREATIVE CENTREPIECES. Think beyond single arrangements on round tables; get creative with the opportunities offered by long King’s tables or add variety with multiple arrangements in different complementary styles. Consider one large centrepiece paired with smaller complementary arrangements on large tables or a family of smaller arrangements. • SWEET SUCCULENTS. Succulents are a lovely option for adding a soft greenery to your table; plus if they’re potted individually, they make thoughtful wedding favours. • BEAUTIFUL BACKDROPS. Create a eyecatching backdrop for your ceremony with a flower wall or garland-covered gazebo. While luxurious Pinterest-worthy flower walls can be expensive, you can get a similar look by incorporating vines and greenery with the blossoms. • GO GREEN! Looking for a unique alternative for your florals? Ditch the flowers! Consider embracing trees, succulents, ferns, and other greenery for decor that is full of texture and personality.

When planning your wedding flowers, be upfront about what your budget and vision are; some flowers can be very expensive out of season, but a good florist can help you create the look you want within your budget. If you’re thinking about preserving your flowers, like the bouquet and boutonniere, be sure to mention this as they can avoid flowers that don’t take well to this process and ensure you that your flowers preserve perfectly.

DO YOU REALLY NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT?
B 43
Dr. Sarah Chapelsky, MD, FRCPC (GIM) – Bariatric Internist – FH Medical
A
s a Bariatric Specialist, patients and colleagues often ask me about tips/tricks to achieve fat loss. It’s important to first ask the key question: Should I be trying to lose weight? The answer is ambivalently yes/no. If yes, it is imperative not to proceed without a comprehensive support system. BMI (Body Mass Index) is a quantitative index used to categorize an individual’s mass as “normal”, “overweight”, or “obese”. Most people in the Overweight category (BMI 25 - 29.9) or the Obese category (BMI >30), believe that weight loss will be good for them … surprisingly not in every case! Most people who are trying to lose weight do so with a primary goal to improving self-image above optimizing health. Excess weight increases pre-disposition for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and liver complications. If left untreated, these conditions develop into life-threatening diseases. All persons with BMI>25 should have a comprehensive physical and thorough screening for weight-associated health conditions. However, many people with a BMI >25 have no signs of weight-related health problems, and can actually remain healthy over the long term. There is little doubt that losing extra fat would make these people healthier. The hurdle is that long-term weight loss is an extremely difficult endeavor. The majority of people who lose weight regain it (and sometimes more). This is known as weight cycling; losing and gaining weight several times over the course of a lifetime, which has adverse effects on metabolic health. Also, it most certainly has negative psychological effects. People who have weight cycled often harbor feelings of shame and hopelessness, low body image, and tend to be socially withdrawn. I typically encourage relatively healthy, overweight patients to shift their focus away from weight loss and toward healthier living. Choose to engage in healthy habits such as becoming more active, eating more vegetables and fewer refined foods. The big player is getting adequate sleep, which will improve health at any weight. Many people who carry extra weight have difficulty accepting that weight loss is not required for better health and well-being. Nutritional, physical and psychological support from a dedicated team of professionals WILL be helpful.
For people who have weight-related health issues, focusing on weight maintenance is the healthier option to promote overall well-being. When a person loses weight by making changes to diet and exercise patterns, changes occur within the body that resist further weight loss and actually encourage weight gain. Hormones that signal hunger increase and fewer calories are burned. Modifications to appetite and metabolism do not diminish with time. If you have been successful in shedding and sustaining weight, your efforts are commended! If you or your physician thinks that you would benefit from additional sustained weight reduction, you have options. It may be time to seek additional support and programs which offer a comprehensive approach including mental health optimization, obesity medication, or bariatric surgery. Invest in your life; invest in your health because you are worth it.

1. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Not only does it improve
your skins complexion; water also boosts your immune system. If you're very hands-on on planning your wedding, it’s advisable to drink lots of water as it also helps to increase your energy and relieves fatigue. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water will make a difference. 2. TAKE MULTI-VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS. Multivitamins
decrease your stress level and are very good for your hair, skin and nails. They also aid in boosting your immune system which is important because really, who wants to be sick while planning their wedding? 3. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Beauty products can make

SKINCARE TIPS TO ACHIEVE A WEDDING GLOW Preparing a beauty regimen is as essential as preparing for your wedding. After all, you're going to marry the love of your life so you really have to look your best. For those who are wondering how to achieve that wedding glow, here's how you do it. It's not as hard as you think it would be. Krizzia Navarroza Scollon
EXTRA TIP!
Zits on your wedding day? Don't panic! You wake up on your wedding day with a pimple on your face; it can be really annoying but there's no need to fret! It might not disappear in time for your wedding but make-up can do magic. You can use a green concealer to cover your pimple or any other blemishes. You can also ask your make-up artist or your friend to help you with this.
you stunning but natural beauty starts from within. In order to get that glow, you have to maintain a balanced diet. Eat a lot of vegetables, fruits that are rich in fiber, nuts and some healthy fats. DO NOT CRASH DIET! Crash diets are not just bad for your health, they can also affect your skin. 4. GOOD SLEEPING ROUTINE. Lack of sleep makes you
tired and unmotivated. It also increases your stress hormones. Even if you take care of your skin, a bad sleeping habit can still result to wrinkles, dark circles and other noticeable signs of aging. 5. DON'T TRY A NEW PRODUCT DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING. It's important for you to know how
your skin can react before using any new skincare product. You can always try a new product, you just have to make sure to try it a few months before your wedding. 6. DIY FACIAL MASKS. Facial masks make your skin
look youthful and refreshing. You can buy them at a local drugstore or a beauty shop but if you are trying to save money, there are also some alternatives which you can do yourself. A cup of honey, some ground oats and warm water will make your skin smooth and flawless. You can also try mixing ground oats and coconut oil to achieve that natural glow. Just remember, before buying or doing your own facial masks, it is important to know what is best for your skin type. Just like trying out a new product, it is best to try these months before your wedding. Having a beauty regimen is great but remember, your natural glow comes from within. Looking your best is all about feeling your best. So smile, be happy and enjoy every minute. That's something that no other product can give you.

Top Requested Bridal Lashes Sadie Welder, Sugarlash PRO Educator.
Who wants irritating lash strips on their wedding day, that keep popping off? No one! That’s why brides around the globe are opting for the newest and hottest beauty trend — eyelash extensions. Below we share some of the top styling and lash looks that any bride could wear on their special day.
There are multiple looks that can be created with Volume lashes, but one of the most requested styles as of late is the “wispy look,” also known as the Kim Kardashian. This is achieved by adding multiple lengths throughout the set, and by adding dimension and fullness.
Russian Volume lashes are currently all the craze. Why are they most requested by brides? It’s simple — these gorgeous lashes are lightweight, so they don’t feel heavy on your eyes, but they still give you the dark lash line and “strip lash look.”
For our natural loving brides, they can go with a simple, but elegant Classic lashes. This look is created by using shorter lengths in the inner and outer corners of the eyes.
Mega Volume sets are the most glamorous kind of styling. Mega Volume will give a full, blacked out lash line. Pair this type of styling with a smoky eye and it’s a dream look for any bride.
Your lashes should be the least of your worries on your wedding day. Not sure where or how to find a lash artist? Check out www.sugarlashpro.com for all of your lashing questions and inquiries.

David Tutera is the expert when it comes to all things weddings, from fashion to decor David has been a trend setter in the world of weddings. David’s main objective is that every bride should “Walk Down the Aisle in Style”. David embraces and celebrates the beauty of all women from all cultures and ethnic backgrounds, from all walks of life. Each and every women is beautiful in their own unique way, David see’s the inner beauty of all women therefore, he wants women to celebrate who they are, and the importance of bringing their inner beauty outward on their wedding day. The celebration of LOVE symbolizes the greatness of life. A spectacular fit provides confidence supporting all bride’s beauty. So one of the big keys when shopping for a dress is understanding your body type and what is the right look for you. Check out David’s tips below: A-LINE: this silhouette looks great on any body type! Be sure to pick a dress that falls easily away from the widest part of your hips for the most flattering fit. EMPIRE WAIST: empire gowns are best left for
MERMAID
brides with a straight, ruler figure or those who are apple-shaped. If you have wider hips, an empire waist may make you look very boxy and square. FIT & FLARE/MERMAID: fit and flare styles are
great on girls with hips. Brides who are pearshaped or have an hourglass figure will look the best! Be sure the dress hugs your curves and emphasizes your figure in all the right places. PRINCESS CUT/BALLGOWN : similar to an a-line
gown, a princess cut will look great on almost everyone. This should nip in at the narrowest part of your waist to create a beautiful shape. SHEATH: this simple shape is perfect for brides

I really like to work with vegetables especially when they are in season; I find it a lot more interesting than just making meat the hero of a dish. There’s just so much more that you can do with vegetables, and so many different flavours, textures and colours.

Honeymoon Destinations THE BEST
BY MONTH
Planning your post-wedding getaway? Find out the best time of year to travel to the most popular honeymoon spots from classic beach escapes, romantic European tours or more adventurous locales.
JANUARY, FEBRUARY & MARCH Escape the chill after your winter wedding and hit the beach! The Caribbean, Costa Rica, and Mexico all offer relaxation and endless amounts of sun and sand. For those hoping to start off married life on a more adventurous note, South America experiences summer during our winter so weather is prime for hiking, biking and exploring.
APRIL The sunny Caribbean and Mexico are still great options in April, with beautiful weather and quieter beaches. Greece and Turkey can offer a more exotic beach location, along with touring and history. Why not set sail on a cruise and experience multiple destinations at once?
MAY Jet off to Southern Europe before summer travel heats up! Imagine sipping wines in a vineyard in Southern France, taking a cooking class together in Italy, or sharing tapas in Spain. Start off on a small group tour or cruise to see all the sites and then spend some time alone in your favorite destination.
JUNE, JULY & AUGUST This is the best time of year to stick closer to home and enjoy the summer weather! Cruise the fjords of Alaska, explore Canada on either coast or fly to Hawaii for sun, sand and spa.
SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER Watch the leaves change color in Europe and enjoy the slightly cooler weather and smaller crowds. Whether you are on a river cruise tour or checking into a luxury hotel, autumn is a great time to experience England, France, Austria, the Netherlands, and more! Eastern Canada & New England also offer a romantic backdrop for your first married vacation, either by boat or tour.
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER Perfect weather (smaller chance of hurricanes and storms than early fall!), quiet beaches and better prices make Mexico and the Caribbean a classic choice for a late autumn honeymoon. Some hot destinations include the ABC Islands (Aruba, Curaรงao, and Bonaire), Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, and the Cayman Islands. For a more unique option try an expedition cruise in the Galapagos or a ski vacation as the snow starts to fall.
Whether you are planning your romantic getaway, Vision Travel and Air Canada Vacations can help you find the perfect destination and work within your budget to make your honeymoon dreams a reality!

SECRETS You Must Know Before Planning a Destination Wedding
1. Settle on a realistic budget Before you jet off to a foreign land to marry your partner, it’s important to set a realistic budget for both the wedding and for your guests. To stay on track with wedding-related and travel expenses, here are a few things to consider: • Destination costs • Ceremony and reception venue as well as decor, and offsite or onsite location • Guest list and number of guests invited • Hotel accommodations: all-inclusive hotel vs European plan • Wedding dress, hair, makeup, etc. • Photographer and videographer • Cost of shipping favors and other small items to your destination
2. Not all beaches are created equal The ocean presents one of the most beautiful ceremony and reception settings, but you must understand what each destination’s beach has to offer to guarantee the wedding of your dreams. Consider the following before deciding on your perfect destination: White or Brown Sand Beach Not only is the color of the sand important, so is knowing if the beach is rocky, family friendly, whether the resort has sand breaks or even seaweed. Sunrise and Sunset The amount of daylight, what time of day, and your desired look can all be affected by your destination. Peak and Off-Peak Be sure to research the peak and off-peak seasons of the beaches you have your eye on.
A destination beach wedding is a truly memorable event for both the couple and their guests. You’re given an intimate ceremony, a breathtaking backdrop for pictures, and can even combine your wedding and honeymoon! Pulling off a flawless event at the shore comes with a unique set of considerations to recognize before sending out your savethe-dates. Here are the top 5 secrets to help as you start planning your destination beach wedding with ease! 3. The month of the year does matter As much as you may believe the rain is your #1 enemy at a beach wedding, wind and heat can be just as worrisome! We’ve compiled our favorite and most recommended wedding-friendly months for each location: January - March The Caribbean, Mexico, and Costa Rica April - May Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic June - October Hawaii, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta November - December The Dominican Republic and Mexico
4. Not all resorts specialize in weddings, and there is a difference There is a big difference between a resort that does weddings and a wedding resort. Just because a resort says they can do weddings, doesn’t mean they are good at what they do. 5. Travel Agent or Wedding Planner? Planning a destination beach wedding from thousands of miles away takes a lot of organization, clear communication with vendors, time management, and many deep breaths. You can spend hours working with vendors and wedding coordinators when planning a destination wedding, or you can ask for help. A certified travel consultant’s role is to provide you and your guests travel support to ensure everyone gets to the wedding safely. They will be able to give you sound advice on the travel components and some may be able to offer resort advice. A certified destination wedding planner will give you planning advice, location possibilities, consider budget for the weekend and they work directly for you, so your interests are the top priority. Their focus will be 100% on the wedding. The benefits of using both: A certified destination wedding planner and travel consultant is the ultimate find. They will offer sound advice on the resorts to choose from, the right destination for your wedding vision and have the skills to ensure nothing is left to chance. They will consider all elements, not just the trip or the wedding.

KNICKERS, NIGHTIES & NAUGHTIES You’ve spent months searching for your perfect wedding dress, but have you thought about what you’ll wear underneath it? Depending on the style of the gown, you want your undergarments to be comfortable yet sexy and supportive yet sleek. Some women might opt for nude coloured spanx as their wedding undergarments when there are so many pretty, delicate, structurally dedicated items of lingerie to choose from. Whether it’s something strapless, boned, backless, underwired, or non-underwired that you’re after, it is safe to assume you can create a wedding underwear look that’s just as pretty as the wedding dress all while being comfortable. Before venturing to find your bridal underwear, really pay attention to the construction of your wedding dress. Determined by the type of bridal gown you have chosen, there will be different options available to you. Give yourself plenty of time to get your wedding lingerie, preferably before the final dress fitting. Many brides get fitted for their wedding dress before finding their wedding undergarments which could lead to the struggle of finding bridal underwear and bras that fit with their altered dress. Ideally, find lingerie that will give you the perfect shape you’re looking for and try it on with your dress before your tailor fits and alters your wedding dress.

You may choose to have two lingerie looks for your big day. While your lingerie beneath your dress may be serving you in a more supportive way throughout your day, your evening look can bring out your more romantic, sweet, and sexy side to make his heart flutter. Let your lingerie be an enhancement of who you are and choose something perfect for your personality. Bridal lingerie holds special meaning for every woman. Ultimately, there are no fixed rules when it comes to choosing what to wear beneath it all. When you’re trying on items take into consideration what you feel confident in. Nothing looks sexier to your man than your confidence. Lingerie doesn’t have to be extravagant in order to be attractive; it can be as simple as a matching bra and panty or a sheer full-length nightgown. If there is one rule that you will follow let it be; if you don’t feel sexy in it, don’t get it. Let your true beauty shine through.

GROOM'S ATTIRE: TUXEDO VS. SUIT? Renting or Buying?
Once you’ve decided on your wedding style and what you want to wear on your wedding day, the next big question is choosing whether to rent or buy. Both options have their benefits and should be considered; the biggest factors to think about are how much you (and your groomsmen) are willing to invest on attire and if you’re looking for a less traditional option.
own outfit, you won’t have to worry about finding cufflinks and pocket squares (unless you want to add your own), it’s all there. Larger rental companies typically offer their vests, cummerbunds and ties in dozens of colours so you’re guaranteed to find the perfect colour to compliment your colour palette and the bridesmaid dresses! With an easy pickup and drop off process, it’s always convenient and easy.
Renting is a popular choice for weddings and with good reason! Renting is budget-friendly plus it’s preferable for groomsmen who already own several suits and don’t want to add another one to their wardrobe. Rentals ensure it’s easy to find a great option that flatters the whole wedding party; thanks to the wide range of sizes available, it’s simple to find a great fit for everyone. They also tend to emphasize styles that are timeless and look best on a wide range of clientele.
Looking forward to wearing that special suit again in the future? Buying your wedding attire is a smart idea if you like the option of wearing the suit again or if you’d welcome a reason to add a new suit to your closet. If you have a unique look in mind, retail offers a wider selection of styles, including trendier options and colours, slimmer cuts, and the ability to get more tailoring done to get a flawless fit. While this can be a larger financial investment, don’t rule it out even if you’re on a tighter budget there are fantastic options available at every price point.
The biggest advantage of rentals? It’s a package! Rentals include everything you need for your look, including your suit/tuxedo, shirt, vest, shoes, tie, and all of the finishing touches. Unlike assembling your

GROOM'S ATTIRE: TUXEDO VS. SUIT? continued from page 109
You’d be surprised by some of the great options available at entry-level prices! If you are going the purchase route, look at a few options for bespoke suiting as well; it’s your big day, consider investing in something made just for you.
B 110
Don’t forget that as the groom, you can select something different from the groomsmen! If they would strongly prefer to rent but you want to purchase your suit, that’s okay. As long as the styles are complementary, the wedding party will still look cohesive and stylish. Remember to start thinking about the men’s attire several months before the wedding day so your options aren’t limited. While it’s possible to do a last-minute rental, you’ll be at the mercy of availability, especially during the summer and early autumn wedding season. Plan to do at least a couple of trips. Once just as a couple to narrow down the options you like (it’s easier without commentary from the peanut gallery) and again with the wedding party to try them on. Dion_BridalFantasy_HPad_F18.ai

Gifts to Show Your Gratitude At a loss for cool new ideas? We’ve got you covered.
You’ve read articles on writing your speech, set yourself an essential reminder to pack the rings, and you’re ready to say “I do.” But have you thought about your groomsmen’s gifts?
Like the gifts the bride gives her attendants, the groomsmen’s gifts are a token of gratitude for all of the help and support that they’ve given you through the wedding process. Typically, gifts are given to the members of the wedding party, the best man, all groomsmen, the ring bearer, the father of the bride and your father as well. Not sure how grand the gesture should be? A common range is between $75-150; take into consideration how much they had to spend on hotels, wardrobes and associated celebrations. Your gift should reflect the time, money and thought that everyone put into helping make your day amazing. Also, compare with your bride and her plans for bridesmaids’ gifts they should be comparable to the groomsmen’s gifts. It’s common to get matching or similar gifts for all the guys, but you certainly don’t need to. Personalizing each gift and finding things they ’ll love is a thoughtful gesture that will ensure your thank-you won’t be forgotten in a drawer. If you’re not the first gent in your social circle to tie the knot, most guys probably already have a flask or two gathering dust - just to use one example. Typically, the best man, fathers of the bride and groom, and the ringbearer will receive personalized gifts, even if you opt for otherwise matching gifts.
• You can never go wrong with a nice addition for their liquor cabinet. Think beyond expected classics and find something special like a local craft brew or wine from the venue if you’re getting married at a vineyard. • Spring wedding or rainy location? Keep the rain at bay with a slick umbrella. Famously fashionable, American president John F. Kennedy gifted each of his groomsmen engraved umbrellas at his wedding and his style was always impeccable. • A sharp, well-made weekend bag. While they likely have casual duffels and reliable suitcases, they probably don’t have a serviceable but sharp weekender. Help them arrive in style with a nicely constructed bag for those weekend getaways. • A metal money clip is an under-appreciated accessory, especially for those days (like your wedding) when tucking a full wallet in your pocket isn’t ideal. Clips are a great way to wrangle together just the essentials, like cash and a card or two. Gifts wrapped and ready? The best time to give them out is at the rehearsal dinner while the bride is giving her gifts to her bridal party. The rehearsal dinner is an intimate celebration and opportunity for your entire wedding party to gather together, making it the perfect time to thank everyone for their role in your big day. The ideal way to present your gifts is individually so you can take the time to express your gratitude in each person’s role. If you do choose to give the gifts at the rehearsal dinner and are having formal seating, you and your bride may also opt to beautifully wrap and set the gifts at each person’s seat. Whether you choose to put the gifts at their place setting or to give the gifts by hand, ensure you include a thoughtful note! If you’ve opted for alcohol or a similar gift, you may want to give your gift at a different time (like the bachelor party).

THE NEW AGE OF FORMAL DRESSING J Rosen

In the past, circa 1920’s or even up until five years ago men always thought that wearing a formal tuxedo or a formal suit for their wedding was the way to go. Trust me, for myself a person who appreciates looking professional and commanding a certain presence, I can definitely see why it was like that for so many years. However, I can tell you this now, working in menswear over the past couple years the fashions and wedding industry has really turned. We now live in an age of millennial driven infrastructure and INSTAGRAM! Couples to my experience have been drawing inspirations from Pinterest, Instagram, and any other social media platforms to create their perfect wedding! What’s trending now? For men the comfortable, effortless, unlined, and deconstructed suits or blazers are highly sought after! Italians who are the masterminds of this design and creation are seriously making their mark in the wedding sector.
with your body. This is why deconstructed suiting or sports jackets are great for any body types! Its pretty much like wearing a Lululemon t-shirt, and you know everyone loves Lululemon!
What does “deconstructed” mean? A lot of people who I have spoken to are confused by this word and idea in suiting. Deconstructed doesn’t mean messy or not appropriate for weddings, gala, or formal functions, deconstructed means that the design strips away certain aspects of traditional suiting. This type of design in suiting is actually quite beautiful and simple. Deconstructed garments provide men the ability to have the natural fit of the garment to work
I think we can say now that the NEW formal is informal. The creatives of this world has really revolutionized what menswear is all about. Unlike in the past were men had to wear certain stuffy suits for their wedding or formal events, unconventional informal suiting has really made men enjoy wearing all sorts of suits for all sorts of events while look sharp and respectable. I dare you all prospective grooms and brides, get yourself in a deconstructed suit, it will change your life!
A lot of you may ask, how is this possible? This would look extremely unkempt and it is way too casual for a formal event, let alone a wedding. Well, that is were all of you who though this are wrong! Due to the simplicity of the construction, designers of deconstructed garments put extra care in fabric selection, pattern drafting, and making all of the fine details look elevated and luxurious. This is why men love these type of garments because there not stuffy, chucky, or restricting at all in anyway. The groom pretty much gets the best of both worlds, a garments that looks exquisite on with elevated fit but also gets the number one quality they look for – comfort.

Mom’s Speech Being the Mother of the Bride/Groom is the most magical of positions on a spectacular day!
Your child is getting married and you get to flit all around, hugging and kissing every single person that walks into the party! You have found the perfect dress and you look amazing! Better yet – everyone wants to be there and is happy too! It’s all fabulous, fun and games until it comes times to giving speeches! No pressure, but you need to make the most perfect of speeches, even though you may not be a public speaker. You’ll be watching to see if anyone rolls their eyes, yawns or looks at their watch to see if you are done yet. No pressure, my fellow Moms, but all eyes are on you and it’s not because you are making everyone yummy and tasty delights in the kitchen. This time – you need to say it right, be loving, funny and insightful. Being a little humorous would be the icing on the cake! Having been the MOB I learned very quickly that this job (the speech of Mom) is one we often stress over, talk too much, share too much and easily make it into our own little eulogy of letting our little baby go spread their wings and fly! In my research to try and become a better speech writer, I came across an article by Annie Cording, a freelance writer, who recommended keeping your speech limited to five areas: welcome your guests, pay a heartfelt tribute to your daughter/son, welcome your new son/daughter in-law to the family, offer some fun and heartfelt advice to the new couple, and finally, conclude your speech with a toast! This format is bound to ensure any mom a successful speech.
Dresses: The Dress Lounge, Jasmine Bridal Photography - Simply V Photography HairMake-up ñ Bliss & Glow Artistry
Tips to remember when following this format – make sure you keep your own personality alive when speaking to your family and friends! Keep it light, happy and entertaining. When giving a tribute to your child, try to remember the most fabulous of moments (that you both would have cherished) and share it – the best stories are the ones that make both of your eyes shine and smiles widen. Keep it short (rule of thumb is 5 minutes max), sweet and adorable – remember that your child cherishes you just as much as you cherish them. The most important thing to remember is to enjoy this moment – it’s one that will stay with you forever! Sandra Weber, Owner, The Dress Lounge

UNIQUE WAYS TO PERSONALIZE YOUR WEDDING DAY
Wedding traditions are what make this occasion more special and in our day and age, couples are now starting to make their own for their guests to remember. Couple are adding personal touches to their big day to express their personalities! This is also to make their wedding memorable and unconventional. If you’re looking for some ideas on how to personalize your big day, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favorite ideas! Personalized Wedding Invitations Custom wedding invitations are one of the trends that have been going on for a while. A lot of couples show their creative side and do their own wedding invites because it’s the most cost-effective way of adding a personal touch to their big day. All the materials needed can be easily found at any craft or dollar store. There’s inspiration all over the internet, some websites will even offer printable and downloadable invitation formats. When it comes to a personalized wedding invitation, the most common ideas are watercolor or hand painted, rustic themed, and invitations that are inspired based on the couples’ interests. However, some couples love to take it a step further through a scrapbook themed wedding invitation where they share special memories with their guests or a soundtrack themed wedding invitation where couples share their favorite love songs.

Handcrafted Shoes For some brides, investing in a pair of fancy shoes is not enough. They also invest their time and effort in to decorating their shoes to show their personality. You’ve probably heard of brides putting stickers, laces, beads or glitters to their shoes. Some may even take it to the next level and paint their own. Designing your wedding shoes is a great way to personalize your wedding and you can ask for an expert’s help if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself. Sole Saville, a business based in Edmonton, Alberta, offers custom print and hand painted shoes that allows you to express your passion, style, and individuality. They make sure to get the exact shoes you want for your wedding day from the perfect shoe size to its unique style and design. Even if you have a design in mind, Sole Saville can do a custom paint job and will work with your idea. Same Day Videos Same Day Videos are becoming extremely popular because it’s something both the couple and guest enjoy watching. Normally, couples hire a videographer to do their wedding video which can take a couple of weeks or months to get. If you don’t like waiting, some videographers also offer a same day edit video where they capture the highlights of your day and have it ready for you and your guests to watch at the end of your reception. This will let you and guests celebrate your ceremony-- or even shed some tears all over again.
Wedding entourage with a twist Traditionally, all bridesmaids, including the maid of honor, are all females, and groomsmen, including the best man, are all males. But for some couples, they believe that wedding entourage should not be based on any gender, especially when the bride has a guy best friend or a close male relative (or vice-versa). In these cases, couples tend to have a male Maid of Honor or a female Best Man. This is actually a great idea for couples who love to show their personality and honor the special person who’s been there for them through thick and thin. Wedding gifts for a cause When it comes to wedding gifts, we automatically think of registries, gift cards or money. Other couples, however, think differently. As much they want to celebrate their love, they also want to take this as an opportunity to pay it forward and give back to the people in need. Instead of asking for material things, some couples choose one charity and they ask their guest to donate to them as their wedding gift. This is probably the most beautiful way to personalize your wedding not only because it’s unique and creative but also because of the fact that you were able to help other people.

GROCERY SHOPPING IS NOT A DATE Keep your dating life alive long after you put a ring on it. Rachel Antony
Whoever said the spark dies after you tie the knot clearly didn’t have the right attitude or go on the right dates. We all dread the unknown future of “settling” and giving up all things fun when you’re tied, ball and chain to your partner. We would argue that your dating life is far from over, and now that you’re married there is no pressure to impress. You and your partner can explore new activities, food culture and events that maybe you wouldn’t have wanted to venture into before. It might be easy to slip into a routine of TV and Skip the Dishes, what’s the point of going out? Being in the same house counts as hanging out right? Wrong. Keep the spark in your relationship alive and lasting through date night. Being married doesn’t mean you can’t still date each other. No, going to get groceries or take the dog to the vet does not count as a real date. We want you to get out of your sweat pants, turn off Netflix and get out into the real world again. Discover 2019 Wedding Trends That Make You Look Fabulous On Your Dream Wedding Day
The world’s bridal designers have created very exciting wedding trends for brides-to-be for the 2019 season. With two royal weddings in 2018 we are seeing the most interesting trends in design, details and accessories. I am loving the wedding dress trends to make your dream wedding day special. I visited Lillian Bowdring, owner of the Bridal Boutique, to ask her what a shopping experience for a bride is like. Lillian stated that every bride has a vision of what her dress should look like. “90% of the bride’s select a gown that is something totally different than what they were dreaming of”, says Bowdring. My advice to you is to shop with an open mind. Let yourself step out of your comfort zone and try on several dresses. Let your bridal consultant show you several styles for you to try on and experience. Enjoy a memorable shopping experience with your bridal party. Have fun. Fall in love with your outfit. This is such a special and magical time of your life. continued on page 134

SECRETS TO WRITING VOWS Writing vows doesn’t have to be one of those stressful factors while planning a wedding. We want the vows to be perfect, romantic, and memorable. We want to make sure everything we’ve ever wanted to say to our significant other about how much we love them is now said in this moment. Here are four secrets to writing vows that won’t make them as stressful as it seems.
1. Rough Draft Make a rough draft simply by using bullet points about the most important elements you want in the vows. By doing this, you can focus your thought process on what you want to be in the vows, later going in depth on those elements and not missing something important that you wanted to say. Give yourself a few weeks to make the rough draft. When you think of something you want to add to the vows, simply jot it down. After those few weeks, you would have thought of everything you wanted to say and now can dive into more detail with those elements. 2. Write About How You Feel When thinking about what to write in your vows, write exactly how you feel about your significant other. Yes, even the mushiest, romantic feelings you have for them. Remember, this is the moment you confess how deep your love for your significant other is. Don’t worry about how you will sound. Confess it all! Your goal with these vows is to make sure that your partner who is standing right in front of you knows exactly how much you love them. 3. Add an Inside Joke If you’re a person who has a sense of humor or gets uncomfortable in serious moments, add in some humor to your vows. Remember, your vows are yours. Make them unique and true to you. Add in an inside joke that only you and your significant other understand. This allows you to personalize your vows, making the them even more unique to your relationship. 4. Don’t Care About What Other People Think While you are writing your vows, don’t think about what anyone else will think when they hear you reading them. Yes, that even means your mother and future mother-in-law. If you’re someone who hates public speaking, just keep looking at your partner standing in front of you and remember, you’re only speaking to them in this moment.
While writing your own vows takes a lot of time, it doesn’t have to be as stressful as one would think. Keep in mind these four secrets above when you’re writing your vows to personalize them during a day you’ll remember forever. Katrina Reynolds

Essential Tips for a Memorable Wedding Ride We all want to make our wedding the most special day of our lives. Your day begins with being transported to the ceremony so make sure it’s a ride that you’ll never forget. Transportation may seem like a small task on your wedding checklist but it is actually one of the most important things you have to organise. After all, you want to make sure you arrive to your wedding punctual, safe and in style. These essential tips will avoid any anxiety you have to ensure a smooth start to your day.
Krizzia Navarroza Scollon
1. WHEN SHOULD I BOOK? It is advisable to book your wedding transportation at least nine months in advance especially if your wedding is in peak season (May to September). This can vary though depending on the style of car you go for; high demand vehicles may require being booked further in advance. 2. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX A limousine is usually the most popular choice for wedding transportation; but if you opt to stay away from the usual, you can also research other unique and fun options. Whether it is a school bus, a pick-up truck, a vintage car or even a carriage, what is important is that you are comfortable and having fun. 3. ASK QUESTIONS Even when it comes to your wedding transportation, you have to be specific about what you want and know exactly what you’re booking. It is important to know everything that is included in your package before signing the agreement. For example, is there complimentary champagne or do you have to pay extra for that? Can you put wedding decorations on the vehicle? Are your drivers insured? By asking questions there’s no room for disappointment and you will have an unforgettable journey. 4. BRIDAL PARTY AND WEDDING PICTORIAL When meeting with your transportation company discuss every route they need to take from the initial pick up, to pictures and then to the reception, this will avoid any additional costs for added time. In this meeting you will need to decide if you want to include your bridal party in one car, or if you want to rent a separate vehicle for them. Make sure that your bridal party is as comfortable as you are. 5. CONSIDER YOUR GUESTS RIDE Consider renting a shuttle especially when you have a lot of guests who live far from your wedding reception or who live out of town. You can arrange a meet-up area for the shuttle to pick them up and drop them off. You can also include on your wedding invitation if they opt to bring their own car or ride the shuttle. 6. BUDGETING YOUR TRANSPORTATION Allocate a certain amount that you want to spend on your wedding transportation, discuss this with the company and see what works within your budget. You need to feel comfortable about how much you’re spending; you can cut out some distance for pictures if needed or the number of vehicles you’re renting. 7. MAKE YOUR RIDE REMARKABLE Your wedding ride should not be boring at all; if anything, it should be fun and exciting. If you’re riding as a couple, you can make your ride extra memorable by preparing a playlist of your favorite love songs. If you are with your bridal party, on the other hand, enjoy a pre-wedding party with a list of your favorite dance music, and yes, you can even include the chicken dance!

A RECEPTION TO REMEMBER Great DJs & Amazing Playlists
Music can make or break any party and your wedding is no different! From the ceremony to the reception, the music you choose is a huge part of your celebration. Whether you decide to hire a DJ or go DIY, don’t forget that this day is about both you and your partner and your music choices should reflect that. It’s important that you spend time together discussing what songs you’d both like to see played. In addition to choosing your own favourite music, you may want to get input from your guests about what songs they’d like to hear during the reception. This can be a great way to add to your playlists, giving your guests a chance to feel involved and get them looking forward to partying the night away with you. Some couples add a spot on their RSVP cards for a song request or include a submission form on their website but you can also leave it to the night of by leaving request cards on the dinner tables or at the DJ booth.
Still feeling stuck while creating a list of your favourite songs? Consider getting together with some friends–it’s an excellent bridal party bonding activity–for a playlist party. Grab a few bottles of wine, some appetizers, and pump up the tunes. Keep in mind that you’ll probably get mixed results - you’ll get some great jams you forgot about at the beginning of the night but after a few glasses of chardonnay, the evening might turn into a Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys singalong. If you want to ensure you get a list to pick from, have each person bring a short list of songs with them to the party and then you’ll still have a large list to pick from after! However you choose your must-plays, another essential list is the “Do Not Play” list. Refuse to do the chicken dance? Does that pop hit remind you of your awkward high school years? If you have a DJ, make sure you communicate these selections so you won’t be unpleasantly surprised while on the dance floor. Decide if you’re okay with guests requesting songs and discuss how you want them to handle song requests.

LOVE YOUR HOME It has always been my belief that your home should be beautiful and reflect the things that you love, no matter your budget, afterall; your home is your castle!
B 146
Twenty years ago, as young newlyweds in our first home (an 863 sq ft townhouse), I wanted to make our space like it came out of a “Homes and Gardens” magazine! At the time, we were on a limited budget so I needed to (and I did) figure out ways to achieve this. It wasn’t easy at first, but it led me down a path of finding my passion, all things real estate, and ultimately to the openeing of my home renovation/décor shop, The Property Chick Inc.
Shannon is the owner of The Property Chick Inc., which is located in Spruce Grove AB where she resides with her husband Mike, and family. She is the proud mother of four beautiful children, Jesca, Jocelyn, Jayden and Jenna, and two wonderful grandchildren, Taynjerine and Ivy. In the limited amount of free time she has, she loves to spend time outside on their farm, with the horses, in the company of friends of family. SHANNON ENRIGHT

As many of you are starting out, as I did, it is my pleasure to share with you, some simple, economical ways, to make your space beautifully unique, and to reflect who you are, individually, and as a couple. So let’s get started:
1.
When it comes to colour in your home, select a colour pallet that you love. Don’t be fooled into thinking you need to follow specific trends. Whatever colour pallet you decide, follow it throughout the home, be consistent. Treat your walls as your canvas, to frame items such as art work and décor. You’ll also be framing larger items, like furniture, so make sure those choices are cozy, comfortable, neutral and suite your life.
2.
A great way to transform any space or piece in your home is with paint. If you’re looking to refresh instead of replace, you can use paint anywhere – kitchen cabinets, walls, doors, baseboards, and ceilings – even some floors. Another way to use paint is to spray paint original hardware, such as hinges, knobs and light fixture trims throughout your home, to achieve a flawless finish.
3.
If you want to replace rather than refinish, don’t think you can’t do this on a budget. At the Property Chick Inc., we gear towards that exact challenge. Having a wide variety of price levels, styles and colours, we have endless options to fit any space and any wallet. Canadian made from cabinets, flooring, hardware, granite, quartz, tiles and an array of home décor. The possibilities are endless and so exciting!
4.
Be creative. Think outside the box, and don’t be scared to try new or different things. If you love the look of a pillow case, it may be for more than a pillow – try framing it in a bold frame or using them as placemats. Look around the house to see what you already have and how else/where else it can be used when you're creative, it inspires – it inspires conversation and even more creativity. Have fun! Don’t start any sentence with “I can’t” – we all have it in us!
5.
Set your home up to allow simple changes, it is so easy! You can do it seasonally, or as your colour choices change. If you have a neutral couch, use a pop of colour in pillows or throws, interchange artwork that hangs above it, use a low hanging shelf and interchange items on it – use different textures throughout. Same rules apply in your bedrooms – neutral duvet covers, slam some color, texture and pattern with pillows, drapes, area rugs, wall hangingshang things in odd numbers – create an eclectic collage of items above your bed, in a hallway or on a large wall. The bottom line is to create a home that YOU LOVE, be so very proud of your investment and don't be afraid of change in your space – I’ve been known to paint and repaint my walls a different colour in the same day! Enjoy!

Catherine & Sterling W
e tend to do things back to front, spur of the moment, and love to have a good time. We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us: fun, a little surprising, and most importantly, authentic! The two met while enjoying a night out with friends. Sterling was “dancing like nobody was watching” and Catherine admired his confidence and “great” dance moves. It wasn’t soon before she struck up a conversation, and both were inseparable for the rest of the evening. The chemistry was undeniably instant! Fast forward to April 2017, Catherine and Sterling had just taken possession of their new home. While Catherine was out, Sterling took advantage of having the place to himself and set up a gift for Catherine. Upon returning home, Catherine was surprised with candles, wine, Frankie Vallie, and a large moving box that was set up for her to unpack. Inside, she found a sparkly pair of Jimmy Choos, a stunning antique engagement ring from a shop they had visited in Dublin, Ireland, and a handwritten note – all atop a bed of roses from their favourite florist (Laurel’s on Whyte). Sterling got down on one knee and Catherine said “yes” before he could even finish! Starting the next chapter together with their pup in their new home could not have been a better beginning. The couple exchanged personal vows during an intimate wedding in Positano, Italy this past May. Following the ceremony, the group dined in candlelight taking in the beautiful view at La Sponda and went on to dance the night away at a famous Positano nightclub, set in a grotto. They chose the picturesque location to enjoy personal time with their family, and ventured further to Florence, areas of Tuscany, and finally Rome following the big day for their honeymoon. One week after returning from Italy, the two celebrated with close friends and family at the groom’s family home. The reception, a Gatsby-inspired soirée, was indeed a "roaring good time”. Guests donned their best 1920s-inspired accouterments and cocktails, canapés, décor, and melodies inline with the theme were enjoyed by all. The bride’s favourite part was when their friend John of Laurel’s on Whyte presented her bouquet, which was inspired by the stems seen in her Italian arrangement – burgundy peonies, hydrangea, and roses. The tie-in of their Italian ceremony felt so perfect. Heartfelt speeches were heard, and plenty of fun was had by all. It was the most amazing way to celebrate their new chapter as a couple.

e are both cheerleaders and the first time we met was at a cheer practice. We went on to be on the same all-star cheer team competing at the world cheerleading championships together 5 times, performing together on the Edmonton Eskimos CFL cheer team, and even filming a Universal Pictures cheerleading movie “Bring It On” for 3 months in Cape Town, South Africa. We have a summer tradition of travelling to Kelowna for Leanne’s birthday with our two closest friends. The summer of 2016 was an extra special trip as Mitch proposed at Joie Farms Winery on Leanne’s birthday. Back in 2014, we travelled to Greece with a few friends and fell in love with the island of Santorini. We both knew we had to have an over the top wedding and Santorini Greece was a dream come true for our wedding.
58 of our amazing friends and family attended the wedding from across the globe. The countries included: Canada, USA, Australia, Sweden, Norway, England, Ireland, and the Caymen Islands. Being able to share the magic of Santorini and spend much enjoyed time with our family and friends all together was truly such a blessing. While on the island, the wedding party stayed at an AirBNB villa along with several other of our friends. Since the island wasn’t very large, it was very easy for our other family and guests to come over and for everybody to spend time together. We went on day trips around the island quading, cliff jumping, visiting wineries, and taking in the sights. Our wedding day was everything we hoped for. The weather was perfect, everything ran incredibly smoothly thanks to our wonderful wedding planner, and all of our friends and family who were there to celebrate with us, it truly was a dream come true!

Kihya & Matt M
att and I met online on a dating website about a month before I moved to Edmonton. We spent every day for that month talking on Skype or the phone for a minimum of 3 hours a night. When I finally got to Edmonton, Matt came and helped me unpack all my things. I knew then that he was a keeper! We’ve been together ever since. After 4 years of dating, Matt proposed with an elaborate scavenger hunt all over Edmonton! With one of my friends as my sidekick, I was sent to 7 of our favourite locations where I found a locked box with a clue to open it at each one. The final box led me to the restaurant where Matt first asked me to be his girlfriend. When I arrived, our closest friends and family were there (including my family over Skype), and that's where he asked me to be his wife.
We took 11 months to plan our wedding, which had lots of personal touches including the boxes from our proposal as our centerpieces and even a homemade board game for our guest book! We chose not to go for the traditional wedding buffet and instead opted to include a local pizza restaurant who have a special place in our hearts (they were involved in the proposal and even in our engagement shoot!). Everyone had a great time as we ate pizza and danced the night away! One of our favourite parts of having our wedding at the Muttart Conservatory was that our guests could enjoy wandering the pyramids throughout the night. We managed to capture some great images in the pyramids, but our favourite shots would have to be the one with the large 3D moon in the Feature Pyramid.

umeet and I met in August 2015 and were engaged in April 2017. He proposed to me in Vancouver, BC., at the top of Grouse Mountain, and the next day, Sumeet and I flew to San Francisco for a few days where we celebrated being a newly engaged couple. It was truly blissful! We had a large, multi-day Sikh wedding for 600 guests. Sumeet has a large family. Mine is smaller, but both our families are very close-knit and have lots of dear family friends who travelled from all over the world to celebrate with us. Sumeet and I are both very hands-on and we shared the same vision for our wedding. It was important to us that our wedding include lots of thoughtful detail and be reflective of our personalities and our relationship - we always like to add our own little twist on whatever we do!

This required a lot of thought and planning as we rented everything from a huge tent, to lighting, an LED dancefloor, mobile washrooms, LED bars, and even backup generators. The theme was very festive and playful with bright, colorful linens, lots of colorful tealights, the LED dancefloor and LED bars; we also had a delicious live pasta station from All India Restaurant and Sweets. A few of Sumeet’s gorgeous nieces also prepared an amazing dance performance for the event. It was a fun evening of dancing, singing and celebrating the wedding to come! The wedding ceremony was held at Ramgarhia Gurdwara Millwoods. I wore a gold and pink lehenga with lots of red and peach embroidery; Sumeet wore an ivory and antique gold sherwani. I wanted the décor in the langar hall of the Gurdwara to be very simple, light and airy, since the ceremony is held in the morning. We went with blush striped linens, and pink and peach florals. It was a long and emotional day for everyone, but we had the best photographers and videographers. They were all so easy-going and very passionate about their work and endured very long, chaotic days. Even after a 15 hour day in the pouring rain, they were about to leave for the day as the sun was coming out, but rushed back to get Sumeet and I outside for some romantic shots outside in the sun.
Natasha & Sumeet
Our reception was at Shaw Conference Center in Hall D. We picked this venue because of the huge floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river valley. The hall also had outdoor balconies overlooking the river valley where a lot of our guests hung out during cocktail hour, in addition to the lobby of Hall D. The attire for the reception was black tie. Sumeet wore a custom Atelier Munro tuxedo from Harry Rosen, and I wore a deep red lehenga. We wanted the décor and overall theme of the reception to be very bold, sexy, and modern, which Bash décor did perfectly. We went with red, ivory and blush fresh florals with lots of greenery and alternated short and tall centerpieces with ivory linens and black charger plates. We had red velvet damask linens on the family reserve tables. There were lots of fresh red roses and tons of candlelight around the room, including a champagne ice luge with our initials carved into it. We distributed the wedding favor tins on the guest tables. The tins coordinated with our wedding invitations and we filled them with sour red roses from Squish Candies. Sumeet had the dancefloor wrap by Urban Beats customized to include the monogram that was on our wedding invitations, as well.

We sat on a sweetheart stage while our emcee, Sumeet’s cousin, Anita, guided everyone through the evening. We received the most beautiful blessings from both of our parents, funny stories and kind words from my bridesmaids and Sumeet’s brothers. Sumeet and I combined our childhood photos and had them running on the projector screens in the background throughout the night. Our videographers prepared a beautiful highlight video from the previous days and incorporated some of our favorite songs into it. There were also a few sweet surprises during the evening. Sumeet had surprised me with indoor sparklers that went off during our first dance; and Sumeet’s cousins surprised both of us with an impressive, choreographed dance performance. We spent the rest of night dancing and greeting our guests. Sumeet and I are so lucky to be blessed with the most amazing and supportive parents, families and friends. There were so many family members and friends who selflessly helped us out so much during each stage of wedding planning and during the events. We are so grateful to all of our guests who travelled from near and far to show their love and support for us. We are also so grateful for all of our vendors who truly did their best to make our wedding celebration even more perfect than we imagined!

ose gold colour was the main colour theme for our wedding. I gave the bridesmaid a colour palette based around dusky pink to pale pink to allow them to choose a dress that matched their skin tone/colouring. I incorporated a floral tie for the groom and best man to tie some pink to them also which worked out wonderfully, especially with the ocean backdrop and floral arch behind us during the ceremony. Tony proposed after a life altering accident occurred in his life, which changed our relationship forever and ultimately made us stronger and united. We couldn’t have asked for a more magical, fairytale location to share our vows with each other as our loved ones sat in the sand in front of us. It was an absolute dream that we will cherish for all the years to come!

Carmelo came over and suggested the three of us go for a walk (himself, me, and my cousin Brianna). It should be mentioned that this cousin was always asking Carmelo or myself when we would get married. So, we are walking along in my neighborhood and after a few minutes Brianna asks Carmelo “When are you guys going to get married?” He responds with “Well do you have a ring for me Bri?” And out of her little purse she pulls out a little box. That’s when he gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him.

ur story begins a long time ago, at the tender age of 3 years old, when we first met at Lady Bug Daycare in St. Albert. Neither one of us remembers this encounter however, and it wasn't until very recently, while going through old family photos at Dalin's parent's house, that we discovered a picture that served as photo evidence of the two us together way back when.
B
Fast forward 15 years, Amanda set out with two of her girl friends for a weekend in Banff, where they were planning on meeting up with the "sturgeon boys”. This is where our paths crossed again for a second time. We became friends and stayed in touch off and on throughout the next ten years, as Amanda went off to school in British Columbia and Dalin became involved in the Edmonton music scene, playing in local bands, Randy Graves and Thrillhouse.

Amanda eventually returned from school and began to see more of Dalin. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we had a serious connection and wanted to pursue a different type of relationship with one another. We became inseparable, and moved in together shortly after. We eventually bought our first home together in St. Albert, and adopted our beloved fur baby, Pluto (who was soon to make the most handsome ring bear, yes I said ‘BEAR, at our wedding). We spent the next few years testing our relationship, after nearly tearing the house down to it’s studs, and essentially rebuilding from scratch. It was during this time, we both realized how invaluable we were to one another, and knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. One evening, in early October we had plans to attend a “friends-giving” dinner. After dinner, Dalin proposed a toast to the group. Amanda didn’t think much of this as it wasn’t out of the norm for him to do, and for whatever reason decided to interject at one point, interrupting Dalin to add her own two cents. Dalin remained patient and let Amanda finish what she had to say before continuing his toast. It was then that he got down on one knee and proposed. Amanda was in complete shock. She held her breath for a good 10 seconds before blurting out “of course” and then quickly reminding Dalin he needed to put the ring on to seal the deal, as he was a little excited too… wedding planning began shortly after.
Amanda & Dalin
With Dalin being the entertainer and social being that he is, it was important for us to have a big wedding so that the majority of our family and friends would be able to attend. This aligned with Amanda’s vision of a hometown wedding, celebrating our city of St. Albert, a place we are proud to call home. The ceremony took place at the picturesque grounds of the St. Albert Grain Elevator Park. Following the ceremony, guests were encouraged to walk the “heritage walk” to the heart of St. Albert where the reception was held downtown. We wanted to keep things pretty simple, spending the majority of our budget on food and alcohol as it was important for us that our guests had a good time. Lots of time was spent on DIY projects such as; the arbour we got married under, that was built by Amanda’s father, the table numbers and various other design elements crafted out of an old maple tree we (sadly) had to cut down from our front yard. One of our favourite details was the polaroid guest book, which was a really fun way to remember our guests. Unfortunately, we had a vendor back out last minute,

about a month before the wedding, leaving us without flowers and a set up team. Fortunately, Amanda’s friend/past co-worker/assigned international wedding photographer, Sofia Laroque came to the rescue and used her social media page for good to recruit her industry to the rescue. We were overwhelmed with the amount of replies. Complete strangers offering to help, no questions asked. This is how we found Mandi at Charmed Floral Designs who did an amazing job on our flowers, and Shannon Gamache who literally did everything else. We can’t say enough about this girl. We hired her as our month/day of coordinator and we’re so glad we did. Shannon took care of all of the details, including hiring us another bartender last minute and making sure that everyone had a ride home at the end of the night. Amanda doesn’t like cake so we decided to splurge on another local favourite, Nitza’s pizza for a midnight snack at the end of the night instead. This was a big hit with our guests. Everyone went home happy.

We ended our night randomly, dancing to live music at a bar down the street before walking a few short blocks home. Dalin being the gentleman he is, carried Amanda over the threshold and we went on to live our version of happily ever after. ight years ago I moved into an adorable little basement suite in Vernon, BC. Little did I know at the time that that is where I would eventually meet my future husband and from there our adventures would begin! I first met Taige when he was only 16 (yes, that’s right – I am older than my groom! By 6 years to be exact). He was skateboarding in the driveway, and was far too shy to talk to me. But 4 years later he moved into another suite, on the same property, and we got to know each other. It started with many simple “hello’s” and eventually grew into him fixing my computer for me (he was a computer technician at the time). He asked for my number at that point “in case he has any issues with my computer”. Little did I know that was his way of really getting to know me. Our texting conversation started from there, and hasn’t stopped since! A few weeks after we started texting, we hung out one evening with a couple of friends. And from there, something switched; before we knew it we were cuddling on the couch and from there we started dating as if we had always been together! We got engaged 2 and a half years into our relationship. We knew very early on in our relationship that we were destined to be together! Taige proposed to me while we were away on vacation in Las Vegas. He was so nervous that in the days leading up to it, he had a hard time eating. I thought at the time it was because he was so excited to go on our trip! The first night we were there he took me to the water fountains, outside of the Bellagio hotel, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was the happiest moment of my life, and I of course said yes! The theme for our wedding was very rustic, as my dad is a custom woodworker. So it made it very easy to collect beautiful decorations! Our colors were purple and white, with yellow as a secondary colour.

ur story began after being introduced by mutual friends. Despite a dismissed first attempt at a brunch date, Eric’s persistence finally had Carmen agreeing to go out on a first date to an Oilers game. In the years following that first date, Eric and Carmen ventured around the world together, visiting Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and Hawaii. They renovated an old house and built a home together for themselves and their two dogs, Mason and Yoshi. Everything was leading up to the day Eric decided to pop the question, using Carmen’s favourite food – pizza. A pizza baked in the letters “Will you marry me?” took Carmen by surprise, and the rest is history.

Catherine & Arvind A
rvind and I met on a blind date. I had been in a long term relationship that just moved on, as sometimes happens, and I was enamored with a choice to just stay single – I had a very full and fulfilling business and personal life and felt that I wasn’t missing anything by making this decision. As part of my effort to move forward, a life coach suggested that I explore this ‘single’ decision by going on 3 dates as homework. I was skeptical, but asked my friends to introduce me to 3 gentlemen, a first for me getting set up on a blind date! Arvind was the first date. I was not interested in anything other than completing my homework assignment. It was his persistence and his beautiful pursuit that made me ultimately open my heart to him. I think I discovered my love for him when I realized how he was going out of his way to get involved with my life and with the things and people that I love. I was surprised to fall so hard, but found myself looking forward to every moment we spent together. He was not only charming, but intelligent, interesting, funny and totally adorable and made me feel loved and appreciated for exactly who I am. We had an amazing 2-year courtship that culminated in Arvind proposing on Jean the Baptiste day in Old Montreal in 2017. Within a couple hours of landing in Montreal he got on his knees on the beautiful patio of SeaSalt & Ceviche and proposed. I was so surprised I was bombarding him with questions right after I took the ring from his finger to inspect it. I remembered him asking if I was going to say yes. LOL The most memorable moment was
when he pulled up Leonard Cohen’s - Dance Me to The End of Love on his phone and pulled me in his arms for a dance right in the middle of Plaza Jacques-Cartier it was magical and a perfect end to his romantic proposal. Because one of our passions is travel, and we love including people in our joy, we decided to have a destination wedding and chose the spectacular area of Huatulco. Our wedding was simple and joyful. Our colours were white because I love Diner en Blanc accented with red roses which was a tribute to the red roses which Arvind regularly gets for me. We walked across the sand and got married in front of our family and friends with the waves on the beach only feet away. Our photographer was a friend (as were all the people who contributed to the planning and made the day so wonderful) and the spectacular photos help me remember a wedding that went way too fast!! Our wedding dinner was outdoors under beautiful lanterns, the bridal party entered to the song “Happy”, which totally represents everything we are, madly loving and happy with one another and all in our lives. The dinner, speeches, beautiful dance under the stars and last but not least the entire wedding party jumping into the pool (yes, fully dressed!!!), were the perfect end to an absolutely perfect day. We could wish for nothing better than this day – except, for many more days of happiness together!

e meet through mutual friends who were kind enough to think of us together as a couple. We connected first at a pub to make sure there was chemistry and then continued chatting while Davin spent weeks away in the North West Territories. Following his return we continued to enjoy each other's company in the city, in the mountains, at the lake, and abroad. We both knew it was going for the long term when we made it out of Central America in one piece after our passports were stolen. As a couple, we enjoy the outdoors and being surrounded by nature, so we wanted the theme of our wedding to reflect such. We focused on keeping the decor simple so that our floral arrangements could
shine. With the Edmonton weather being unpredictable, even in June, we wanted to bring the feeling of being in a garden to the indoors venue. The design of the bar and the arch, in addition to several large floral arrangements helped to bring this dream to life. To capture the special moments of our wedding day, and highlight all our amazing guests in their true form, our photographer stayed into the early morning hours. As a result, the photos captured all the raw emotions and events from the start of the day, to last call. We look forward to celebrating this day with many anniversaries to come!

The reception was beautiful. Big thanks to their wedding planner Shannon Gamache for bringing the couples vision to life! Guest table linins were light pinks and greys with centerpieces including clear mason jars with pink and white flowers inserted, sitting on top of wooden cookie plates, all accompanied by deer antler sheds, a candle in an upside down mason jar, and a disposal camera. Dark brown chivari chairs from Special Event Rentals were placed around the tables which really tied together the rustic feel. Wooden pallets were used to display the seating charts. Teal hand painted mason jars, wooden candles, hand painted milk crates, pictures of the couple, lanterns, flowers and much more were placed around the hall for a classy yet rustic feel. The head table was placed in front of a beautiful white backdrop with patio lantern lights strung across it from River City Events. The table was lined with a beautiful gold sequent table cloth with hand painted teal mason jars, a wooden "Mrs" sign hung off a large deer antler, while a wooden "Mr" sign hung from a moose antler. Their beautiful three tier naked cake was gifted to them and made by the Brides Sister Tara Matthewson. The top two tiers were naked while the bottom tier was fondant created to look like tree bark with their initials "carved into it" decorated with left over flowers from the flower bouquets. The

LOVE WORK CREATING A RELATIONSHIP REVOLUTION
When it comes to love and relationships, we want to make a difference in the world.
With the development of quantum physics and the realization that each one of us is vibrational energy, we now know that it’s possible to focus on the vibrational energy that is in each one of us and on the energy that forms the bond shared by a couple.
By choosing to resonate at a higher level, you also affect those around you. You infuse them with your light and your vibrational energy. This is why sometimes one sentence, one kind word, one kind deed, can truly change the lives of others.
The sphere of energy that is you, and surrounds you, pulsates and grows as you manifest with good intentions and love. Each day, each minute, there are meridians of energy that course through the earth, your personal space, your body, each molecule and strand of DNA. Every moment there is a chance to reach that next level of magnificence in the energy being that is you, and as you, the couple, become one, as an invisible band of energy and power forms.
The question we all need to ask is: Are we ready to make the effort and commitment to take ourselves to the next level? When we talk about Love Work, we are talking about a strong energy path that is framed with love.
When we meet an energy soul mate, that new energy propels us to a new, higher level. At that higher level we can now make choices that continue to lead us into a path of enlightenment. This energy is all around us, just waiting to be called upon. Everyone and everything we touch continues to benefit from us energetically by raising our vibrational level. When two people become one, the energy is strong. Strong enough to accomplish anything we think we are able to project and accomplish.
As Louise Hay says, “I have never understood the importance of having children memorize battle dates. It seems like such a a waste of mental energy. Instead, we could teach them important subjects such as How the Mind Works, How to Handle Finances, How to Invest Money for Financial Security, How to be a Parent, How to Create Good Relationships, and How to Create and Maintain Self-Esteem and Self-Worth. Can you imagine what a whole generation of adults would be like if they had been taught these subjects in school along with their regular curriculum?” Imagine if we all continued to learn, and to grow, within all of our relationships… What kind of world would we manifest… an awesome loving one! You will more often than not see me in a dress and over accessorized. Since being pregnant, my day to day is constantly changing. My personal style certainly reflects how I feel. I wear all white clothing most of the time from the Kundalini Gown collection that I recently released. Wearing all white makes me feel light and graceful.
B 182
ROBINDRA: For me style is more about how I do things vs what exactly I am wearing. Style is a choice we make every day about how we are choosing to live. How you choose to live essentially is your life-style. On the day to day, I am constantly looking to innovate how I am choosing to live. This takes a different kind of awareness, one that is kind of a commodity these days in the generally distracted information age, to me true style is presence.
Why do you love practicing yoga?
DEEP BREATH DESTRESS CLEAR YOUR MIND Yoga is such an amazing way to distress and clear your mind. Bridal Fantasy had the opportunity to chat to Myrah and her husband Robindra Mohar, founders of the BLOOM Festival and entrepreneurs to find out more about their love for Yoga and how it impacts their daily lives of parenthood.
Yoga gives me a pathway to escape the prison of my ego, thoughts and mind. It constantly gives me access to freedom, space and joy in my body and in the expression of everything that I do. As a creative, I know that my ideas flow when I take care of myself, life just flows with yoga. The next level of my practice is in raising my baby girl Soleil who is 18 months old right now.
MYRAH:
ROBINDRA: Yoga begins way before you get on your yoga mat. It begins with the first limb of the 8 limb path which is Ahimsa, traditionally defined as non-violence. I recently heard a new definition of Ahimsa which really landed for me which is “To be so full of love, that there is no room for anything else”. That is yoga right there for me, it starts and ends with self-love. We were never taught self-love in school, yet yoga so subtly teaches you just that. The second limb of yoga 'Satya, or truthfulness is such a great way to learn ‘Self Love’. When you say you are going to do something and actually do it, you begin to trust yourself at the core. With your strength now developing at your core, you gain the confidence, energy and trust it takes to live life in full BLOOM, to your highest potential.
How do you feel that yoga has impacted on shaping your life? I am simply grateful for my journey, the ups and downs as they have shaped me into the man that I am today. I have gone through so much with my best friend committing suicide over a decade ago, which broke my heart wide open. I fell into my own depression, anxiety and it was through a regular practice of yoga and meditation that I began to find myself again. Now, at 38 my yoga looks a little different than it did when I was 25, but the key to it is simply being consistent with it.
ROBINDRA:
Do you feel that there are misconceptions about yoga? I think the biggest misconception about yoga is that it is all about the physical practice, because that is all most people see every day. Yoga begins before you even get on a yoga mat. The 8 limb path of yoga written by Patanjali 5000+ years ago shares that the first step in the ladder of yoga are the Yama’s, beginning with Ahimsa, which is nonviolence, or I like to look at it as self-love. The second yama that is the next step is truthfulness or satya, which identifies a way to approach everything. Back to the misconceptions, people think that for some reason they have to be “good at it” or that they are not “flexible enough”, and this is because we live in a consumer culture, where everyone is always seeking more, being more, having more…. You have to be a certain body type, background that it’s not accessible for everyone. It’s not for the lazy. Just like with any practice it requires your commitment, dedication and your receptivity. You are the founders of the BLOOM Festival, tell us, what is your goal with this? Our ultimate goal with BLOOM is to help make Edmonton one of the world’s healthiest cities which begins with the individual. We want to help create more leaders, people who are really lit up about what they do and sharing that with the world. With that in mind, we want to light up a ton of new entrepreneurs and make Edmonton just an even more incredible place to live. In addition, we would like to have this as our legacy project that gives back to support inner city youth programs. We plan on expanding the festival across Canada and working more and more on a global scale to uplift and inspire humanity. Does living in Edmonton have an impact on your creativity? Our long winters really stimulate an opportunity to within and create some amazing things. The ease at which we can share new ideas is really alive here. Starting things in Edmonton is really incredible, the community is really supportive! Artistically, it feeds us with a drive to make a difference in the world beyond just the yoga mat and ourselves. We want to make a global impact. Is there anything that you recommend for aspiring yoga teachers, entrepreneurs, business owners, parents? SLOW DOWN, To SPEED UP!! My advice for aspiring teachers, entrepreneurs and dreamers is that before you go full speed in any direction, really slow down and get connected to what lights you up. Once you figure what’s your why, then it’s much easier to constantly create from an inspired place. Being an entrepreneur is not easy, there are so many ups and downs, so do something you love which will light the way when things get hard!! Make your business not about money, but about a way to impact the world. For us, our why, is that we want more people to BLOOM, to be fully lit up, so everything we do is an expression of this why. That you, yes YOU, are BLOOMING!

HOW TO KEEP A LEVEL HEAD DURING THE WEDDING PROCESS
Weddings by nature are stressful. But it helps to know how to keep a level head throughout the wedding process.
Weddings are emotional reckonings and will set off triggers, if you have not dealt with your issue before hand I’m here to help. Be prepared for all of the hidden emotions to surface to the top. Family and Friend relationships will be tested, Everyone will have an opinion on what you should wear, what colors to wear, how to smile, how to stand, how say I DO! So, how do you keep calm and carry on when things don’t go as planned for your wedding day or the days leading up to it? Here are a few tips to keeping that level head that makes for a happier wedding day. Acknowledge that things can go wrong There’s no way around it. Even with the best-laid plans, things can go wrong. So, if you acknowledge that your day may not go exactly as you wanted, then you are less likely to lose your cool on the day. I’m not saying to be pessimistic. Just acknowledge that the wedding process may not go according to plan. When you do this, you can tackle any issue that arises, and know when to leave those that cannot be solved. I encourage you to ask your friends and or family members about their wedding disasters. A few many even share that those things that went “wrong” made memories they will be able to share with their children. So don’t be afraid of not having THE PERFECT wedding.
Get help Very simple advice. Hire a team of dynamic professionals that understand your vision and you trust will give you best planning experience you could ever imagine. Finally, don’t forget the big picture At the end of the day, just focus on what matters – that this is just a stepping stone to spending the rest of your life with the person you love. You will find yourself disagreeing with each other during this process and understand that totally normal. There may be a point where you question if want to go through with the wedding. If you find yourself going down that road STOP the wedding planning process for about two week and just focus on each other. During my very own wedding planning process when I allowed our guests list or timeline planning create tension I found myself going back to old text messages, emails, and love notes given to me during our time together and those reminded why I fell in love and wanted to create an amazing future together.
D’Concierge combines the perfect mélange of chic, elegance, and bold creativity fused with energetic ideas customized to the bride’s total satisfaction. After graduating high school and finishing up his freshman year of undergrad Darryl Wilson Jr. had his life mapped out. The plan was to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Navy Branch of the Armed Forces, serve 25 years and retire. But a special occasion altered the course of events and changed Wilson’s life forever. “GOD had a different blueprint for me,” Wilson says. It wasn’t until after planning his mother’s wedding to my step father 16 years ago that he realized the exceptional talent he had.” Talented but not yet confident, Wilson struggled to see how he could take his talent and craft a successful career in wedding planning. “At the time the wedding and event industry was predominately ran by females, and there were not many men of color in the limelight making strides in the wedding industry,” says Wilson. As his confidence began to grow, his LIFE long goal has become to change the dynamics of the industry by curating one love story at a time! Darryl L. Getting Intimate It’s all so exciting, every wonderful little detail of this magical day consuming my thoughts, and then suddenly being interrupted with a list of To-Do’s and wondering how I will pull all this off without losing my mind.
B E AU T Y • G RO OM I NG
It’s the high and lows of creating a life event that marks a beginning and forever changes our history. I know all too well the DRIVE and delight in making a dream like this become reality. There are things that people don’t talk about though, that you’d likely never think to ask. Can we go there? Yes! Let’s go there, because we need to start having these conversations.
B
I was in Switzerland when I met a young newlywed couple on the train. After a few glasses of wine, the beautiful new bride shared with me in confidence how she was mortified with her body because she got a ‘Brazilian’ on her special pretty area before her wedding, hoping it would make her feel sexier on her honeymoon. Sadly, she had an allergic reaction. Now all swollen and covered in a rash down there, she held back tears explaining to me how embarrassed, stupid and ugly she felt.
187
My heart ached for her. I mean this stuff matters. When we don’t feel good about ourselves or our bodies it shows in everything we do, especially when it comes to intimate connection with our lovers. What was this young bride to do? She was just trying to feel beautiful without worrying about her traditional razor issues of ingrown hairs and razor burn. On the outside she was a radiant vision to behold, yet on the inside she was not feeling enough, broken somehow, because her skin had erupted in anger. It wasn’t her fault. She didn’t know… Her new husband was captivated with her, he couldn’t keep his eyes or hands off her. Yet, in HER mind, because of this painful & disruptive rash she felt inadequate and didn’t want her husband to know what had happened. THIS. IS. NOT. RIGHT. It’s time to talk truth. Feeling beautiful comes from the inside and flows outward, starting with knowing we are enough and owning our true beauty no matter what size, shape, or condition our body is in. This is easier said than done. I get it. I’ve been working on this my entire life. It’s time for us to stop allowing those unrealistic beauty standards to steal our joy by making us feel not enough without their products. You, lovely one, are extraordinary, unique, magnificent and wonderfully made. Your lover adores you, ALL of you, exactly as you are in this moment, the question is...DO YOU? If you ever need us, Little Acorn Shave Co is here to support you, reminding you of your worth and value. Tracy’s built several successful businesses creating thousands of success stories. She continues to thrive in the face of adversity even after enduring a betrayal that left her bankrupt and homeless. She's an overcomer and encourager. Her latest creation, Little Acorn Shave Co is making history with the introduction of Amora Light Touch razor for women inspiring us to accept we are enough & own our beauty all while elevating our shave experience. Proceeds from every purchase help support survivors of sex trafficking. Tracy David Founder | CEO | Visionary

SOME LIKE IT HOT B 5 Secrets To Great Sex Your Whole Life
Why does the sex go cold after a while and how can we keep it hot Art Asked? He and Peggy were one of the many newlywed and about to wed couples, who attended one of my Modern Love Trainings this year. When Art had a chance to explain further he said his dad and the other long married men in his family had been warning him that sex cooled off soon after marriage. Everyone in the training started talking at once, "yeah what’s that about ?" "that's not going to happen to us", "hey Dr Brenda, pleases tell us if there are secrets we need to know!" YES! there are sex secrets based on real science and I’m going to share 5 of the facts I teach couples in our trainings.
1.
A Healthy Body is a Sexy Body: Rest and relax so your estrogen levels and guys your testosterone levels are maximized. Avoid high levels of alcohol (men especially) before making love. Exercise keeps your energy up, lowers stress and pours oxygen into your brain too, all making sex better!
2.
Aphrodisiac foods: Chocolate, avocados, asparagus, oysters and hot chili peppers, chow down! Be careful not to be too full at bedtime or when you want to make love.
3.
Stay warm, when your body is warm it’s got better blood flow, in the genital area. That makes it easier to enjoy relaxed sexual pleasure, leading to stronger climax.
4. 5.
Never argue in your bedroom and don’t watch TV in your bedroom couples who fight or watch TV in bed have less sex.
Communication is the best lubrication. Talk to one another in the most loving way, share what you appreciate and admire about one another on a daily basis it builds trust and feeling loved and that is so sexy! Want more? My wedding gift to you is my free eBook, “ Don’t Sabotage Your Sex Life, Secrets to keeping it Hot! “ Send your request to: love@docwade.com

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING YOUR MAKE-UP ARTIST Trying to pick the right makeup artist for your special day, and feeling a touch overwhelmed with all the options? That’s perfectly normal! We’re here to help you keep it simple.
When you are picking your artist, there are many things to consider. Even if you never wear makeup on a normal day, a natural look is recommended for professional pictures. While you might be washing off your makeup at the end of the day, your pictures (and how your face looks in them!) are forever. Investing wisely is incredibly important.
When asking these questions, we suggest a phone interview, as it is always more personal than email, and great way to get a sense of the artist’s personality.
The first step is to get online to find artists, and view their most current work. We suggest Instagram and a hashtag search specific to your location. Once you have a short list of candidates: use this list of questions we have developed to help you choose! There’s no fool-proof way to find a perfect match, but there are important issues to be considered.
•

•
WHY DO YOU LOVE BRIDAL WORK? Any artist should explain why
•

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR KIT SANITARY? Would you eat off a strangers
plate at a restaurant? If not, then you should not be sharing makeup, either! Ask your artist what she does to keep her kit germ-free. Erin Heather, Instagram: erinheatherbridal
