A very warm welcome back – it’s been a long wait, hasn’t it? We are so excited to be open again with a full season of events, and with audiences back at full capacity. Our autumn programme contains brand new events for this year and some which have been rescheduled and are, at long last, able to go ahead. With social distancing restrictions now lifted, safety remains a priority in the venue and we are here to make sure you feel comfortable during your visit. Please read Your Safety on pages 32-33. As a registered charity, we simply wouldn’t be here today without the incredibly generous support we have received - thank you to every single one of you. Whether you are a loyal member or patron, have donated the value of a cancelled ticket, participated in our fundraising campaign, or advocated for us on social media, we are so grateful and have been boosted by your kind words and encouragement over the last 18 months. This has been underpinned by the unfailing support of Brighton & Hove City Council and Arts Council England, as well as the vital relief provided to the arts and culture sector through the Culture Recovery Fund. Over the last year, the Corn Exchange roof has been fully repaired, replacing over 16,000 slate tiles which means no more water leaks! Inside the space, the original timber frame spanning 18 metres wide, has been stripped back and strengthened and interior heritage features have been beautifully crafted to how they would have looked 200 years ago.
‘ Naming a seat in the Corn Exchange is, for us, a unique way to celebrate both the fantastic performances we’ve enjoyed here together as well as this phenomenal venue, which is so important to the city.’
If you’ve walked along New Road you may have noticed the scaffolding has gone, revealing the beautifully renovated exterior of the 1930s Studio Theatre. We are finalising plans for a new catering partner to take on the lease of the new café/ restaurant on New Road which will offer visitors a place to eat, drink, hang-out and feel the buzz of being in the hub of our building.

This production follows the story of Gerda and her quest to find her friend Kay, whom the Snow Queen has placed under an evil spell. Gerda’s fantastic adventure takes her on a journey across the frozen north where she finds Kay and the Snow Queen’s Palace of Ice. Heritage Join us on this journey Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival is diving into the memories of our audiences and we are looking for volunteers to help us capture the unique and personal stories of the people who were ‘there’. As a volunteer, you will be part of a trained and supported team, learning to interview, record and edit people’s stories and put these skills into action by undertaking a live Interview. This work will be part of an exciting story-telling project about the people who have witnessed history in the making at our historic venue. The memories collected will be shared with generations to come. We believe our volunteer team will be better and stronger if it is diverse. We welcome applications from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds and people who are disabled Recruitment will take place Sep–Oct 2021

Entry Requirements Brighton Dome currently requires you to be able to show proof of your COVID status when requested on entry to gain access to an event. You can demonstrate this in ONE of the following ways: • You have completed a full course of vaccination at least 14 days ahead of the event or • You have received a negative PCR or lateral flow test result within 48 hours of the event or • You have proof of natural immunity by way of a positive PCR test taken within the last 180 days but not within the 10 days prior to the event Lateral Flow Tests are available free to all via many pharmacies, the GOV.uk website or by calling 119 Although there are other ways to prove this without use of a smartphone, the simplest way is via the NHS COVID
Security Like all public buildings and spaces, Brighton Dome has a number of security measures in place to help minimise the possibility of a terrorist attack in the venues. These measures include procedures should an attack actually happen. To make your visit as safe, secure and enjoyable as possible we carefully assess each event alongside the current security risk set by the government to decide what security measures need to be in place. These additional security measures may include bag checks, limitations on what can be taken into the auditorium and ticket checks on the outer gates of the venue. We work hard to protect the safety and security of our visitors, performers and staff and where possible to mitigate against the likelihood of an attack. We will be continually reviewing the measures we have in place as appropriate and in line with relevant direction from the security services.

Brighton Dome reserves the right to refuse admission to and/or eject any person who is unwilling to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols in place at the event. You can play a part in keeping yourselves and the rest of the audience safe by being vigilant to unusual behaviour or items and reporting any concerns you have to our Duty staff. Bags Owing to Covid 19 there is no cloakroom operating at events currently and all items must remain with the owner. Please avoid bringing bags to the venue and do not try to bring any larger items with you. Only bags no larger than an A3 piece of paper 35cm x 40cm x 19cm are permitted. Noise Loud noise can damage your hearing. We have earplugs available at all events should you want to use these. We post signage at the entrance to the auditorium when noise levels are expected to exceed 85db at any point.
