Project Highlight
Many teachers in the CBVRCE have been reaching out to look for innovative ways to incorporate technology to enhance the learning experience of students which involve problem solving, designing and creating projects. During the month of April some of the projects that have been explored are students in Lloyd Francis’ Technology class at Sydney Mines Middle School are using their understanding of circuits to create Mother’s Day cards with copper tape, LEDs, and coin cell batteries.
In Jan Mill’s and Aleisha Hurley-McDonald’s grade 5 classes at Brookland Elementary, students learned how to code a virtual environment using the web based program called CoSpaces. Students designed their own virtual world that represents themselves and their interests which was made interactive when students wrote code for different aspects of the environment
Students in Jocelyn Oullet’s class at Sherwood Park Education Center used stop motion animation to explore storytelling
Students designed and then created their own videos by using stop motion technology along with web cameras From Lego to playdough and even a chess board, students were creative in their use of materials in order to create their story
Students at Whitney Pier Memorial Middle School in Tanya Chislet’s Textiles class took part in an activity where they learned to design and create a wearable felt light for their school bag Using conductive thread, LEDs and coin cell batteries, students created their very own wearable technology
