Project Highlight

Students at Exploits Valley Intermediate are currently working on a project that they plan to bring to the Innovation Fair in Moncton on May 11th This project has started out as a simple camera and a b board but now the students have fully coded a working Petcam that they plan on being able to control via wifi from a separate location The 4 students working on this project have coded the b.board, micro bit and break out board to be able to drive the petcam around a residence to check on pets and make sure they are safe. As well, the camera is fully functioning and can be turned side to side also up and down. They have plans to further this project by adding sensors such as infrared sensors to be used in unlit areas, as well as temperature monitoring, ultrasonic sensors to detect close objects to prevent crashes and damage. They have 3D printed a shell to protect all of the electronics not only from potential crashes but also from the animal itself considering some animals take time to get used to the object, but also some animals like dogs like to chew. The students realize the potential of this project and as they continue to develop and improve their ideas.
