THE GREAT WHALE MIGRATION

From June to November every year, an animal migration quite unlike any other takes place along the East Australian coastline when over 20,000 humpback whales make their 10,000km journey from Antarctica to the warm waters of far North Queensland and back again.

There are a few different ways to be a part of this annual pilgrimage, from venturing onto a whalewatching boat to marveling at them from the coastline. Here are the best places to see them in 2023.

WHALE WATCHING BY BOAT

Experience the majestic world of humpback whales up close! Feel the thrill as they emerge from the ocean, basking in the spray and listening to their enchanting songs.
