POLICE, CRIME AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR UPDATE

ISSUE

91: 19 September – 16 October 2024

CRIME STATS

Over the last month, reported crime has increased from 633 to 717 While cases of Possession of Weapons, Robbery, Vehicle Offences and Burglary have seen small reductions, over the last 28 days, there have been

significant increases in cases of Violence Against The Person (+ 31) as well as a rise in cases of Drug Offences, Sexual Offences, and Fraud.

BURGLAR ARRESTED AND CHARGED ADMITS TO FOUR OFFENCES

Earlier this month, a burglar was arrested and charged for three burglaries of commercial premises around the Bristol City Centre area. The Investigation of these crimes was undertaken by the Neighbourhood Team at Bridewell Police Station, who managed to gather the evidence and take the male to court.

The burglar - appearing at Bristol Magistrates Court on Thursday 3 October - pleaded guilty to committing three burglaries between August and September this year. He also admitted one charge of assault on an ambulance worker that came to his aid in a separate incident to the burglaries.

Speaking about the successful Investigation, Old City Beat manager, PC Sims, said: "The impact these

burglaries have on victims can be hugely significant, not only in terms of financial or sentimental loss, but It can also cause people to feel unsafe in their own workplace.

"The local team dedicated to targeting commercial burglary offenders has worked hard on this

investigation, and with the local community, to quickly identify the offender and gather sufficient evidence, leading to his conviction."

The offender will be sentenced at a later date.

BRIDEWELL NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING TEAM POP-UP EVENTS
