Introduction

Dockyard Derby Dames is a Roller Derby team based in Tacoma Washington. The team was founded in 2005. I based the Identity o of the word dockyard. I grabbed inspiration from the ocean. My ďŹ nal identity includes a Kraken, Trident, and the Initials.

Primary logo Salior’s Hat

Kraken Type

The Primary mark for Dockyard Derby Dames is a Kraken that is trying to embody the spirit of the dockyard derby dames. The Primary logo consist of the sinister Kraken monster itself, the Sailor’s hat and the name the Dockyard Derby Dames.

secondary logo Trident

Tenticle

The Secondary mark for Dockyard Derby Dames is a Trident with the Kraken tenticle holding onto it. I choose the trident because it symbolizes the power of the ocean. I also added the kraken tenticle to tie in the primary logo with the secondary one.

Tertiary logo

The Tertiary logo for Dockyard Derby Dames is the initials. I kept its simple becasue I felt the other two logo marks were pretty detailed and wanted to keep them balanced. The three D’s also remind my of the waves of the ocean and very simplistic versions of ancient greek letters which I think ďŹ t well with the Trident from the secondary mark.

For my colors I decided to go wtih a range of vibrant blues. I then decided to contrast it with adding accents of Pink and yellow. Togther the color scheme is vibrant and energetic. The blue colors give an association to the sea. When using these colors for the logo keep in mind the original look of each one. Each color is used speciďŹ cally for its intended use and should remain that way.

ABCDEFGHIJK L MNO P Q R S T U V WXYZ 0123456789 For my typeface I decided to use Richardson Brand Accelerator. I liked the pointed angles and the italic look of the font that gave it a feeling that it was in motion. The typeface compliments the logo mark by making it look like it is in motion.

Clear Spacing When the logo is used, there should be a 1in. distance of isolation of the mark away from any other illustrations or paragraphs, page rules, page edges or other type

Preferred Usage The preferred uses of the identiy is the primary logo mark with the assigned typeface and color scheme. This application of the logo should always be considered as the ďŹ rst design options.
