Some Goals I have for our division is: • Expanding our Shark Population- Currently, we have an estimate of 320 members and what I’m hoping for us to achieve by the end of the year is 400 members • Communication- It seems that Gig Harbor is a far distance to Tacoma which makes it difficult for two schools in Gig Harbor to attend our DCM and be more involved with our division. Starting in July I’m hoping to be able to hold two DCMs in both cities. It helps them stay connected and have the human interaction that’s hard to achieve over social media. • Fundraising & Volunteering Opportunities- I want to offer more volunteering opportunities to our divison to help our Sharks bond together while also raising money for our Division and our District Project!

A Letter from your Lieutenant Governor: Hello Division 34! As School is approaching in less than a month, I want you all to do one task, make the most of it! Thank you to all who attended Tacoma

Rally or any of the rallies! The attendance at Tacoma Rally and Portland Rally was outstanding! You all are the greatest, keep the spirit up and have it ready for DCON! Even though the summer coming to an end soon, there won’t be an end to Key Club events! August has a lot packed for you all from Officer Training to A Tennis Tournament with Division 35! I hope you all are able to make it and join us in the fun. Make sure to attend all your Freshman orientation to promote Key Club in your schools, usually that’s the best way to recruit more members! At our DCM, it will not only be Officer training but back to school promoting! We’ll be making posters, flyers, etc. to put up around our schools! Let’s grow our division as much as we can! See you all soon! In Love and Service, Brittney Tran Lieutenant Governor of Division 34

A Letter from your Executive Assistant: Hello Key-uties, I hope this summers been lit for everyone! Sadly, school is approaching and the funs about to end so let's make August a month to remember. Go out and be adventurous with your friends. Explore places on your bucket list or do something as simple as going on a hike. Although I wasn't able to attend Tacoma Rally, I'm extremely proud of our division for being so spirited and decked out in blue and white, for having the highest number of attendees that came out, and of course for bringing home the spirit stick! I love you all and I'm excited to see us grow as a division throughout the school year.

In Love and Service, Shayla Trinh Executive Assistant

A Letter from your Editor: What's poppin' Sharks? Hi! It's your Division Editor, Jessica! Happy August! I hope you guys all had fun at Tacoma Rally, and even though I was not able to talk to many of you, I hope to meet more of you in the future at DCMs and fundraisers! With school just right around the corner, let's all prepare ourselves another great year of fun and service! To another great year of being a Key Clubber. Good luck with school, I know you'll all do great! In Love ad Service, Jessica Ngo-Ly Divisional Editor

Tacoma • Tacoma rally recap Rally Recap

Thank you all who attended Tacoma Rally! The event went amazing! We had about 160 attendees and made a profit of about $400 which will be donated to KCCP! Tacoma rally was filled with great workshops, A outstanding talent show, and best for all LtG., IT(s), and Governor Pie-ing!

• DCMs recap

The 1st July DCM, “Let’s Go for a Swim” changed to “Fun in the Sun” since we had a water balloon fight instead of swimming. During the DCM, I went over ICON, the award Lincoln has won, Tacoma Rally, and votes on what fundraisers to hold! This DCM was held at Stewart Heights on July 22nd from 3-5.

July DCM Recap

The 2nd DCM, PreRally, was only a DCM to make chants, spirit gear, and an overview of what’s going on at Tacoma Rally. It was held on July 28th, from 10 am- 2pm at Moores Library. Thank you to those who attended and help decorate the spirit stick, make posters, and other spirit gear!

CLUB SPOTLIGHT

Wilson High School We worked for Write@253 summer camps that help underprivileged children to learn to read during the summer. We also volunteered at the Salishan housing community to keep kids occupied while their parents were at work.

Foss High School

Gig Harbor High School

Last month was mostly just service events with our Kiwanis. The first event was the car show where we would help sell raffle tickets while a classic car show was going on. The second event was the movie in the park. In this event we helped out by making hotdogs, popcorn, and handling money. Other than that it's been quiet. One Kiwanis event got cancelled due to weather. Also we are still waiting to get a house to paint.

We helped kids build Stomp Rockets at National Night Out (well I guess that was August 2...) July was definitely a slow month, many of our members and officers were on vacation.

Foss High School

Amy Phan, She has been consistently

showing her dedication to above by coming to help out to most of our events. Without her we would definitely short-handed during service events IF YOU HAVE A NOMINATION, SEND THEM IN!

John Kramarevskiy, He was most involved in the organization of Relay and the money . Relay was a stressful time as it is difficult to move money around as students, but John put it upon himself and managed to pull Foss Key Club through and make sure that every member raised their quota of $100 to participate.
