獲 法 國 駐 香 港 及 澳 門 總 領 事 館、法 國 五 月 藝 術 節、法國電影聯盟與 Ins titut Franç ais 鼎力支持， 香港法國文化 協會與百老匯電影中心誠意 邀 請 大 家來一次以艾麗絲華妲作焦點的法國電影之旅。 本屆「法國五月」的電影節目以「新浪 潮之母 —— 艾 麗 絲 華 妲」為主 題，特 別 獻 給 法 國 其中 一 位 最 偉 大的電 影 大 師。2 017 年，艾 麗 絲 華 妲 獲 頒 發 奧 斯 卡 終身成 就 獎，她 更是首位獲 奧 斯 卡 頒 發 這 項 殊榮的法國女性。 我們 將展 映 12 部 艾 麗 絲 華 妲 的名作，節目也選 映 了另外四部適合 全家共賞、老幼咸宜的電影。 回顧 展向法國電影新浪 潮其中一 位中流砥柱的導 演 致 敬，頌 揚 她 在 電 影 藝 術 上 的 成 就。艾 麗 絲 華 妲 的 作品 其中 一 個 明 顯 特 質是 關 注 社會 實 況，並 且與她的終身 伴侶積葵丹美關係密不可分。 藉著本屆「法國五月」電影節目，我們有機會一看 再看她電影中的非凡世界。 我 們 非常榮幸 獲 艾 麗 絲 華 妲女 士應 邀 來 港，出席 於 6 月 16 日及 17 日舉辦的一連串映後談和活動。
Le French May Cinema Programme, entitled “Tribute to Agnès Varda” pays tribute to one of the masters of French cinema, acknowledged with an honorary Oscar in 2017 for her whole career; she is the first French woman ever to receive this award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “Tribute to Agnès Varda” will present a selection of 12 major films of Agnès Varda. The programme is completed with 4 films chosen for families and for your delight. “Tribute to Agnès Varda” is an ode to one of the major directors of the Nouvelle Vague, her art and freedom out and in the movement. Ms Varda’s works are also marked by the seal of social involvement and of her life-long companion Jacques Demy. We have this special chance given during the festival to see, see again or just even discover her extraordinary world. We also will be very pleased and honoured to welcome Ms Agnès Varda in Hong Kong on June 16 and 17 for a series of activities.

At barely 30, Agnès Varda made her directorial debut with this stunning and insightful film about life and marriage. In a village by the Mediterranean Sea, a young couple questions about love while trying to resolve their problem. At the same time, the villagers are worried about the visit of an inspector, captured in a documentary-like look. This gorgeous and poetic film is recognized as one of the progenitors of the French New Wave. —

François, a young carpenter, lives happily with his wife and their children. His life is divided between the carpenter’s shop, picnics in the country, and peaceful evenings at home. He does not want much more until one day, he meets a postal clerk called Emilie. Behind the vivid colors and beautiful compositions, Varda, pieces by pieces, takes apart the cliché of happiness, in the film that she once described as a soft summer fruit with a worm inside. —

In winter in the South of France, a young woman’s body is found frozen in a ditch. Through a series of flashbacks and interviews, we see the events that led to her tragic but inevitable death. Through the hard journey of Mona, Varda explores the woman’s independence and questions about the society that cannot understand being alone as a choice. 1809 年法國，風度翩翩的紐維爾船長正準備與單純 的寶蓮結婚，然而戰爭爆發迫使他前赴戰場。多個月 來音訊全無，寶蓮因此憂心過度而生病，她的姐姐依 莉沙伯認為紐維爾永不再回來，所以冒他名寫信給寶 蓮。可是紐維爾突然回來，而且還受到英雄式歡迎。 然而，他原來只是一名逃兵，還是一個滿腦子機會主 義的懦夫！滿心疑惑的依莉沙伯決意要揭露紐維爾的 真面目。而這兩個冒名者為此出盡法寶互相鬥法。
1809, France. The charming Captain Neuville is set to marry the naïve Pauline, but the war breaks out, forcing him to depart for the battlefield. Pauline soon starts to become ill with worry, pushing her sister Elizabeth to write fake letters on behalf of Neuville thinking he would never come back. When Neuville finally returns home unexpectedly, he is welcomed in glory but in truth is a war deserter and an opportunistic coward. A suspicious Elizabeth is determined to expose the real Neuville and the two imposters are about to start a ruthless fight.
