About the author: Sophia is a 7th grader who lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born in Conyers,Georgia, but moved to chattanooga at age 5. Sophia cheers at the local middle school, and does competitive cheer at a local gym. Cheer is her passion and has really taken over her life. Sophia’s dad immigrated to the America’s from the philippines at age 4. This played a big part in Sophia's life because she got to learn about the struggles of being in a country that was not the best place to live. This really helped her write the book. The struggles of living in the Philippines and the harsh government inspired the characters Macy and Thalia. My dad was represented by Penni. America was represented by liam.
