Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, we are pleased to present you with the 2023 Bucks Fever – Celebration of the Arts brochure. Over four decades ago, Bucks Fever was conceived by Chamber members to “Support the Arts through Business.” What started as a small handful of arts events over a short period of time has grown to include a variety of Chamber arts events and well over 400 community wide celebrations of the arts over a 10-month period.
By uniting the business, arts and cultural community, the Chamber has synthesized the very best of Bucks County in order to increase tourism, augment the economic vitality of the region and celebrate the community’s rich, artistic and cultural heritage. Bucks Fever is solely supported by the business community and we thank all of the Benefactors and Patrons for their generous support. Their commitment enables us to give you this publication free of charge and to promote hundreds of arts and cultural events at no-cost to the host organizations. In addition, we distribute 10,000 copies of this “in demand” publication to local businesses, individuals and tourists visiting Bucks County.
We invite you, and those you know, to “Celebrate the Arts” by participating in the many events throughout the Bucks Fever season. Your participation enables the Chamber and the many organizations promoted in this brochure to continue the rich artistic and cultural legacy in our community for many years to come!

Angel Employing a dazzling mix of glam rock, hard rock, and progressive rock, Angel’s outrageous, white-satin-heavy image and equally over-the-top stage shows, made them one of the more colorful arena rock bands of the mid-’70s and early ‘80s. Discovered by Kiss bass player Gene Simmons, the group issued their eponymous debut album in 1975, which hewed closer to prog rock than the glam pop that would inform future endeavors like On Earth as It Is in Heaven (1977) and Sinful (1979). The group went their separate ways in 1981, but re-formed in the late ‘90s with a new lineup, and released two studio albums (1999’s In the Beginning and 2019’s Risen) and numerous compilations.

The Lonesome Ace Stringband The Lonesome Ace Stringband is an old-time band with bluegrass chops that play some righteous folk and country music. Three Canadians lost in the weird and wonderful traditional country music of the American South, the band members Chris Coole (banjo), John Showman (fiddle) and Max Heineman (bass) are each journeyman musicians and veterans of some of Canada’s top roots music acts (New Country Rehab, The David Francey Band, The Foggy Hogtown Boys, Fiver). Instrumentation alone instantly sets LAS’s sound apart: consisting of just fiddle, clawhammer banjo, and upright bass, the band moves freely
between having a sound so powerful that it doesn’t seem like it should be coming from a trio, to a sparseness and fragility that draws the listener in and refreshes the ear. All three are compelling lead singers, each with his own character and range. This allows for the vocal texture to shift depending on how the song needs to feel - and what the song has to say. When those voices come together the power of the harmonies is unshakable. It’s clear to anyone who’s heard LAS that they just don’t sound like any other band.

Roomful Of Blues
Even though Roomful of Blues’ lineup has changed over the years, the band has always been one of the tightest, most joyful blues ensembles in the world. Currently an eight-piece unit led by guitarist Chris Vachon, the band has never sounded fresher or stronger. Singer Phil Pemberton brings his sweet and soulful vocals and adds another bright new dimension to the jazzy, jump-blues musical roots. Their winning combination of jump, swing, blues, R&B and soul remains their calling card, as does their ability to fill the dance floor. Along with bassist John Turner, trumpeter Carl Gerhard, drummer Mike Coffey, keyboardist Rusty Scott, baritone and tenor saxophonist Alek Razdan, tenor and alto saxophonist Rich Lataille , Roomful keeps on rockin’ through 2022.

Glengarry Bhoys Described as bold, unorthodox, vibrant, and evocative, the GLENGARRY BHOYS hybrid of Canadian Highland Scots and French Canadian musical idioms has evolved into a sound that is weighty, authoritative, and extremely entertaining. Their energy and good humor, as much a part of the show as their musicianship, crosses all cultures and ages. Many things have been written and reported about this world renown Canadian alt-celt group over that last decade, all depicting their musical and entertaining prowess with varied audiences the world over, but their ability to marshal large enthusiastic audiences show after show is legion and recognized. Their objective is simple yet evocative, as stated by their lead singer Graham Wright in a CBC “Fresh Air” interview: “if our audience can only get 10%
6
of the satisfaction we get entertaining them - then we surpass objective”. Accordingly and repeatedly, they do! From a small Scots-French-Canadian enclave in Eastern Ontario, these Celtic-Stompers, always pushing the musical envelope but never straying too far from the traditional whence they came, have earned a reputation as entertainers that challenge you to sit still during their engaging performances. Go ahead and try!

Barleyjuice’s St. Patrick’s Day Party
With six studio albums and a double CD collection in their sporrans to date, these five spirited Yanks have made themselves one of the most beloved Celtic rock bands in the US. Frontman Kyf Brewer lithely covers lead vocals, guitar, accordion, harmonica, mandolin, bouzouki, piano and bagpipes. Backing Brewer is a mad quartet of characters: guitar virtuoso Chris “Shep” Shepherd handles mandolin and conventional electric and acoustic guitars with his trademark flair; captivating fiddler Kyle Blessing’s classical roots stray to bluegrass and country in the middle of the most authentic jigs; drummer Bogi Trifunovich is a powerhouse of driving decadence, while bassist Eric Worthington is the musical snakecharmer of the deep and dulcet. The ayes have it - Barleyjuice is a grand group of talented tunesmiths and prodigious performers, and the absolute best time you can have at a concert without removing your kilt!

Wishbone Ash Formed in 1969 in England, Wishbone Ash are one of the most influential guitar bands in rock history. Equally inspired by British folk, American jazz and R&B, the band did their part to help form the emerging rock ‘n’ roll scene in the U.S. and the U.K. Through dedication to the craft of guitar harmony and melody, along with relentless touring, Wishbone Ash garnered a vast audience through public approval, critical praise and worldwide distribution of their extensive recording catalog. In 2023 the band, led by founding member Andy Powell (guitarist, lead vocals), will mark the 50th anniversary of their biggest selling, multi-platinum album, “Live Dates,” with tours of Europe, North America and the United Kingdom. In the U.S., February and March will see the band traveling through the Northeast and Midwest, with an autumn tour through the South and West. Reviewers have
consistently listed it among the finest live rock albums of all time.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary, “Live Dates” was re-recorded in its entirety at Daryl Hall’s venue, Daryl’s House Club, in Pawling, New York on July 22, 2022.Andy Powell trades licks with Yorkshire’s Mark Abrahams, who has been playing Wishbone Ash tunes since his youth. Longtime bassist Bob Skeat keeps the low-end rocking, working the grooves with newest band member, Mike Truscott on drums. Like his band mate Mark Abrahams, Mike also hails from Yorkshire, England. As true warriors of the road, the band regularly covers around 30,000 miles a year, which is roughly equivalent to circumnavigating the world. The Ash is an undeniable force on today’s touring scene, performing on five continents and continuing to be discovered by new generations of music fans.

Church Of Cash If you’re going to capture the mystique and resonance of Johnny Cash onstage, you better have the raw prowess as well as the reverberating voice. Jay Ernest, the driving force propelling Minneapolis-based Church of Cash, has both in spades. With his bandmates, Ernest brings the iconic Man in Black to life every time he takes the concert platform. The award-winning Church of Cash is a premier Johnny Cash tribute show band with the attitude and the chops. In 2019, Church

of Cash received “Best Tribute Act 2019” honors from the Midwest Country Music Organization. In 2021, Jay Ernest and by extension the Church of Cash, was inducted to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. Since forming in 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Church of Cash has steadily forged a reputation for excellence. The band, which relocated to Minneapolis a year later, made it clear early on that channeling Johnny Cash was anything but a vehicle to gain instant notoriety. Cash, choirs, and rock ‘n’ roll reign supreme. So, when Jay Ernest steps in front of a microphone he embodies the true artistic spirit of the man he reveres.

celebrated musicians in the live music capital. Drawing from a range of diverse musicals styles, Schneider’s talent has defied genres.
Combining elements of funk, country, rock, and folk with the more traditional singer/songwriter aesthetic, Schneider draws inspiration from the ‘70s with a modern twist, reminiscent of contemporaries such as Beck. His catalogue is both uplifting and sober, unafraid to tackle powerful subjects like alienation, drug addiction, and lost romance in addition to celebrating life’s joys.
Schneider has won more than 59 Austin Music Awards including Best Album, Best Songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male Vocals making him the most decorated artist in Austin music history. Schneider’s fan base reaches far beyond the city limits of Austin. He has released more than a dozen albums, written over 1,000 songs, is a published author, and is also an avid painter and collage artist - and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

The Furious Bongos A message from the Band: We’re only in it for the money. HAHAHAHA OK, OK...we’re just a bunch of professional musicians with pretty diverse backgrounds who decided to take on a pretty big challenge and have some fun in the process. Now, you might ask, “Oh yeah? Professional musicians, eh? What makes you think you can play Frank’s music as well as [insert Zappa family/band member here]?” Well...maybe you haven’t heard of us individually, but “we’re pretty good musicians” and you probably have heard of the folks we work with all the time: Yo Yo Ma, Mick Fleetwood, BB King, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dweezil Zappa, LA Philharmonic, Limelight: A Tribute To
Rush, blah blah blah....you get the idea. As for Frank’s music, he was constantly changing things, both for his own creative choices and to adapt to the different musicians he had over the years. He also understood that his live performances were entertainment: it’s supposed to be a rock show, not a piano recital. With all that in mind, we don’t think playing Song X from Album Y note-for-note while staring at our shoes is the proper way to go about this. The result of that approach (combined with a lot of homework) is a show that pays respect to Zappa’s legacy, but is also new and different and dangerous and FUN, with lots of eyebrows. Kinda like Frank.

Spyro Gyra (6 PM) October 2019 witnessed the release of Spyro Gyra’s first album of new material in six years. Once again, they have upset expectations by recording an album of all cover songs. In a nod to drawing heavily from their earlier pop and rock influences, Vinyl Tap. Be prepared for some surprises, like a Latin big band approach to Cream’s “Sunshine Of Your Love”. Spyro Gyra is an unlikely story of a group with humble beginnings in Buffalo, NY who has continued to reach an international audience over forty years, resulting in sales of over 10 million albums and having played over five thousand shows on five continents. They have accomplished this due to a forward looking approach combined with the work ethic of an underdog, always challenging themselves to do something new while never resting on past success. It has proven to be a recipe for longevity for this jazz group while music has gone in and out of styles in ever shorter cycles.

EXTC XTC is one of the UK’s most revered and influential bands. While XTC are no more, their legacy has passed to EXTC − the band of legendary XTC drummer, Terry Chambers. For the ultimate stamp of approval, the band comes with the support of XTC main men, Andy Partridge and Dave Gregory. Hot on the heels of a storming headline appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival, EXTC perform a full set of XTC classics, from their adrenalised early anthems through to the psychedeliainfused rock of later albums. And you can expect the band to deliver the same fire seen in XTC’s gigging heyday, which included worldwide tours with The Police and Talking Heads. EXTC is also busy writing new material that will pay homage to the past while forging an exciting new musical future.

The Lads From Liverpool Songs & Stories - Billy J. Kramer, Terry Sylvester (of The Hollies) & Joey Molland (of Badfinger) The Lads From Liverpool: Songs & Stories provides the rare opportunity for three extremely successful performers to combine their individual, award-winning music with stories about their careers and growing up with the most successful band in history...The Beatles.
Liverpool natives Billy J. Kramer, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Terry Sylvester of The Hollies and Joey Molland of Badfinger come together to sing their combined twenty Top 10 hits and share behind-the-scenes stories of their relationships with John, Paul, George and Ringo.
Billy tells of being the first person to have a hit with a Lennon & McCartney song even before the Beatles did. Terry takes the audience into The Beatles legendary final performance at the Cavern Club when Paul and George had Terry’s first band, The Escorts, open for them at the show. Joey talks about Badfinger being the backing band at the legendary Concert for Bangladesh.
It’s a step back in time to the greatest music and stories the world has ever heard.

Igor & Red Elvises Igor Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak,
however, led him to seek out the forbidden music. Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances. Evolving over the years, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. As an independent band, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, a live concert DVD, and a Greatest Hits compilation.

David Jacobs-Strain & Bob Beach and Hoots & Hellmouth David Jacobs-Strain is a fierce slide guitar player, and a song poet from Oregon. He’s known for both his virtuosity and spirit of emotional abandon; his live show moves from humorous, subversive blues, to delicate balladry, and then swings back to swampy rock and roll. It’s a range that ties Jacobs-Strain to his own generation and to guitar-slinger troubadours like Robert Johnson and Jackson Browne. Bob Beach is a master harmonica player, flute player, songwriter and singer. David and Bob’s live show moves from humorous, subversive blues, to delicate balladry, and then swings back to swampy rock and roll.

Rhett Miller (Of Old 97’s) Texas native Rhett Miller is perhaps best known as the frontman of the Dallas-based alt-country band the Old 97’s, and he has also pursued a critically acclaimed solo career. Formed in 1993, the Old 97’s built a devoted following with their brash blend of country and power pop influences, making a splash with 1995’s Wreck Your Life, a period kicked off with one of their finest hours, 1997’s Too Far to Care. All four members also pursued side projects, but Miller’s solo career captured the most attention, with the literate songwriter training his eye on such subjects as fatherhood, sex, and love. Making his solo bow with 2002’s The Instigator, most of Miller’s solo albums have been dominated by cool, melodic pop tunes with a drier and more confessional bent than his work with the band, though 2012’s The Dreamer explored a middle ground between his pop and alt-country sensibilities, and the 2011 set The Interpreter: Live at Largo revealed he’s a sure hand with other people’s songs.

Carolyn Wonderland Carolyn has the depths of the Texas blues tradition with the wit of a poet. She hits the stage with an unmatched presence, a true legend in her time. After a long, building early career, Carolyn’s first appearance on vinyl was with James Williamson (Stooges) on the single, “Open Up & Bleed”. Her circle of musician friends and admirers includes Ray Benson and also the late Eddy Shaver, Shelley King, and yes, Bob Dylan, who likened her composition “Bloodless Revolution” to “a mystery movie theme.” She appeared on the same taping with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings when she made her debut on PBS’ “Austin City Limits” (Season 35) and had the thrill of her life when Bonnie Raitt joined her onstage for “The Road to Austin” concert film. She’s played with James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, and so many others at Antone’s. She co-writes with Sarah Brown, Shelley King, Marcia Ball, Ruthie Foster, Cindy Cashdollar, and Guy Forsyth; and sat in with Los Lobos, Levon Helm, Vintage Trouble, Robert Earl Keen, and Ray Wylie Hubbard. Carolyn recently joined John Mayall’s Band as his guitarist and is balancing life on the road with writing time at home and on the way. She’s been touring for over 25 years and ain’t done yet. Come and see it at a show!

3 Redneck Tenors The 3 Redneck Tenors are a new breed in the “tenor genre” - their musical comedy featuring classically trained veteran artists is like Duck Dynasty goes to Carnegie Hall - down home laughs with big city music! It has been said that if Larry the Cable Guy, Il Divo, and Mrs. Doubtfire had a baby, that child would be The 3 Redneck Tenors. The 3 Redneck Tenors were top finalists on “America’s Got Talent” and have been thrilling audiences since 2006. These boys have seen it all, sing it all, and make us laugh ‘till we double over, reminding us that in life, it’s not just the destination, it’s the journey, delighting audiences with their vocal prowess and a smorgasbord of songs and music ranging from Gospel, to Country, to Broadway, Pop, and Classical.

roll-infused blues solos; and his command of the Texas blues tradition. Because of these soulfully virtuosic qualities, Duarte was often compared to the beloved modern blues icon, SRV. Since those early days, Duarte has carved his own niche through a series of beloved blues-flavored albums, and a calendar of more than 150 dates a year which includes performances billed as Chris Duarte and as The Chris Duarte Group.

Chris Duarte Group with Jamie McLean Band Guitarist Chris Duarte dropped his sophomore album, Texas Sugar Strat Magik, in 1994, and it was a big success for a modern blues album. Duarte went onto win the highly coveted “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s Reader’s Poll, and he finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category, behind legends Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. He would go on to issue a string of critically-acclaimed blues, blues-rock albums, and experimental fusion-tinged albums. In the ensuing years, Duarte would also maintain an in-demand touring schedule both as a solo artist and as a sideman. The guitarist, singer, and songwriter came up as a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s Austin, Texas roots and blues scene. He rose to prominence in the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s passing, and was noted for his muscular playing style; his jazz and rock n’

STRANGELOVE - The Depeche Mode Experience STRANGELOVE-The Depeche Mode Experience delivers a career spanning, pitch perfect “best of” concert that transports the listener through time and touches on several key points in Depeche Mode’s 40+ year career. Songs from throughout the Depeche canon are lovingly recreated; from favorites on DM’s debut Speak and Spell to the newest fare from ‘Mode’s latest- 2017’s “Spirit”. No detail of STRANGELOVE’s presentation has been overlooked. The visual presentation with stage set pieces and in-show costume changes reflect different eras of Depeche Mode’s story.
These accomplished musicians have a reverence and devotion to Depeche Mode’s body of work that’s driven them to recreate every possible detail and bring the “Music To The Masses” in a concert setting that transcends a mere tribute production; and feels more like a shared communal fan-club celebration of halcyon days of new wave/ emerging electronica.

Henry IV, Part 2
By William Shakespeare
“Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.”
The next chapter in Shakespeare’s epic cycle, Henry IV, Part 2 continues the richly layered coming-of-age tale begun in King Richard II and Henry IV, Part 1 of previous seasons. King Henry IV is in failing health as his kingdom is threatened by swirling conspiracies and enemies at the borders. Prince Hal must distance himself from a life of frivolity to reconcile the public and private life as the mantle of kingship passes from father to son. The irrepressibly decadent Falstaff is forced out of the tavern to face his duty on the battlefield with an exacting eye to a future when Hal is king. Shakespeare’s dramatic tale of family, betrayal, and rebellion illuminates the magnitude of honor and duty in the making of a monarch.
“Extreme Shakespeare” returns! This production will be rehearsed akin to the way Shakespeare’s company would have-actors arrive with their lines learned, rehearse on their own, wear what they can find and open in a matter of days. No directors, no designers. Just great actors, a brilliant play, pure adrenaline, spontaneity, and creativity. Ages 10+
Opening Night, Friday, June 2: Join the PSF actors and staff for a friendly post-show champagne toast!
Prologues: Join us for insights into the play in an informal setting. Free. Held in the theatre 45 minutes prior to curtain. Meet the actors for an informal talk-back

Live Theater - The Mikado The Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Society presents Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular comic operetta “The Mikado” with full orchestra on Friday, June 16 at 8:00 PM, Saturday June 17 at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM and Sunday June 18 at 2:00 PM at Delaware Valley University’s Life Sciences Theater. The show contains soaring arias, glorious choral music, and G&S favorites such as “I’ve Got a Little List,” “The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze,” “Three Little Maids from School Are We,” and “Tit-Willow.”
Written in 1885 when Gilbert & Sullivan reached the pinnacle of their comic and musical talents, the story takes cheerful aim at the pomposity of Victorian British class distinctions. The duo penned a whimsical, satirical and romantic tale of British society, and to lighten the satire they set the story in the fanciful town of Titipu, in an imaginary imperial Japan. For over a century “The Mikado” has proven to be the most popular of all the G&S operas, enjoyable for the whole family, and Bucks County G&S will provide all the beautiful sets, colorful costumes and outstanding orchestral and vocal artists due this masterpiece
of musical theater.

Steve Smith & Vital Information with Manuel Valera and Janek Gwizdala Drummer Steve Smith has been touring and recording with his all-star group Vital Information since 1983 making 2023 the 40th Anniversary of the group. Steve Smith and Vital Information celebrate the occasion with a newly recorded double CD release entitled TIME FLIES.
The newest line-up of Vital Information features virtuoso musicians with vast experience. Keyboardist Manuel Valera, a Guggenheim Fellow and Grammy nominated artist, was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and is now living in NYC. Manuel plays and records with many of the New York jazz elite like Antonio Sanchez,
Dafnis Prieto and John Patitucci. Electric Bassist Janek Gwizdala, originally from London, currently living in Los Angeles, records and tours with Peter Erskine, Mike Stern and Randy Brecker and is one of the most in-demand bass players in the world. Both new members of Vital Information are bandleaders and recording artists with multiple recordings to their names.
The new trio version of Steve Smith and Vital Information collectively creates a powerhouse sound. Although the band is rooted in the straight-ahead swing of bebop, at times the group explores exotic time-signatures from the world of South Indian Carnatic music and have arranged adventurous funk-driven renditions of jazz standards.

Jessica Swale
Directed by Jessica Bedford
The future is uncertain for sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they are left penniless and without prospects in a culture where status and matchmaking are nothing short of essential. As their family is forced to begin a new life in Devonshire, they encounter promising new acquaintances who will turn out to be much more than they initially seem. Through hopes and heartbreak, the Dashwood sisters discover the cruelties and unpredictability that come with the search for true love, whether measured or impulsive. Jane Austen’s razor-sharp wit shines through in this fresh and funny adaptation of her beloved classic from the Olivier Award-winning writer Jessica Swale.

The Tempest By William Shakespeare
Directed by Dennis Razze
“We are such stuff as dreams are made on.”
Banished from his dukedom, Prospero magically controls an enchanted isle and raises his cherished daughter Miranda. With an opportunity for vengeance, Prospero summons a tempest to shipwreck his enemies, yet unexpected things happen on the island when mortals and magic mix. Shakespeare’s final testament to the redeeming power of love, The Tempest is an enchanting spectacle for all ages. Ages 7+
The Tempest will be directed by Associate Artistic Director Dennis Razze, who began as a founding member of PSF 32 years ago in the very first season in 1992 and will be retiring from the Festival at the end of the summer.
