by: Kevin S. Putman, Jr. CBCC Chairman of the BoardIt is with great reflection and enthusiasm that I address you today as the Chairman of the Board for the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. Time has swiftly passed, and I find it hard to believe that an entire year has elapsed since I assumed this role. In our previous communication, we delved into the theme of TRANSFORMATION, and, indeed, the past twelve months have witnessed a remarkable evolution.
You may have undoubtedly noticed our revitalized branding, characterized by a vibrant logo and an updated tagline, “Empowering Businesses and Uniting Communities.” Our Chamber team, now firmly integrated, has spent a year honing their understanding of their roles and responsibilities, all in pursuit of our Chamber’s mission. Collectively, they have made substantial strides by actively listening, learning, and instituting structural enhancements and strategic plans to propel the Chamber forward.
In the ever-changing landscape of local business, a flourishing Chamber serves as the lifeblood of the community. The Chamber’s success and significance hinge considerably on its ability to effectively foster ENGAGEMENT among its members. As we look back on the events of 2023, it becomes evident that numerous initiatives have substantially enriched Member engagement within our Chamber. Face-to-face interactions have remained at the core of community engagement, and our Chamber has consistently provided ample opportunities for such connections. From Networking events and Committee meetings to our Annual Business Conference, we have facilitated many occasions for Members to connect, exchange insights, and nurture relationships. Recognizing the potency of knowledge-sharing as an engagement tool, we have collaborated with industry experts to provide professional development seminars on topics pertinent to our local businesses, thus delivering tangible value to our Members while underscoring our unwavering commitment to their success.
Incorporating new Members into our Chamber and celebrating the accomplishments of local businesses has cultivated a sense of pride and belonging within our community. Acknowledging milestones through our publications, website, and social media platforms has fostered a positive and cohesive spirit.
Listening attentively to Member feedback has been instrumental in our journey of continuous improvement. Over the past year, we have implemented a Member Survey, conducted Focus Groups segmented by business types, introduced programs based on Member suggestions, and hosted a Town Hall Meeting open to all Members. These initiatives have underscored our commitment to transparency and Member satisfaction.
As we conclude this year of accomplishments, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building upon these successes and making informed, targeted decisions when change is warranted. Our strategic plans for 2024 and beyond have been meticulously crafted with our Members at the forefront of our considerations. Our calendar is brimming with educational, social, and professional development opportunities, while our eleven Committees empower Members to actively shape our collective future.
Prioritizing ENGAGEMENT enables a Chamber to forge deeper connections within the community, evolving into an indispensable resource that drives collaboration, growth, and success for its Members and the broader business community. We wholeheartedly encourage you to engage with us in 2024, as we believe it will be a year filled with unparalleled opportunities and benefits.

In today’s business world, the role of the Young Professionals is more crucial than ever. Within the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, a vibrant group of emerging leaders is taking center stage. Worth & Company is pleased to announce that Justin Krall has joined the firm as its Chief Operating Officer. Krall, originally from Harrisburg, Pa., joins Worth & Company after serving as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of a mid-sized regional mechanical contracting firm.
Passionate about plumbing and HVAC, Krall began his career as an apprentice in 1994. He then worked as a foreman, general foreman and more advanced roles with progressive levels of responsibility. 1.) Tell us a briefly about your professional life and who you work for. I work for myself and have been doing so for the last 15 years. I specialize in helping business leaders improve communication, navigate conflict, and build high performance teams. Prior to that I was in the pharmaceutical data industry for 18 years leading sales teams and ensuring service delivery to companies like Pfizer.
2.) What is your favorite thing about the work you do?
Helping people realize their potential.
3.) What book has had a profound impact on you and why?
Brene’ Brown’s Daring Greatly. I have sections HIGHLIGHTED. I read that as I was starting my Consulting practice and had no
idea the impact it would have on my professional and personal life.
4.) What is your favorite movie and why?
Oh boy, may sound weird, but it’s a tie between History of the World, Part 1 and Jaws. I find Mel Brooks so clever, and who doesn’t love Chief Brody?
5.) If you could be an animal, what would you be and why? Definitely a dog. I love unconditionally and who can say no to a dog?
6.) Are you an Early Bird or a Night Owl?
Night Owl. And the daily Amazon deliveries prove it!
7.) What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

8.) What is your pet peeve? Only one? People always hitting “reply all” to emails and texts. .

That I’m an only child, grew up in Southwest Phila, don’t know how to swim but LOVE sharks, and didn’t get my driver’s license until I was almost 21!

Featuring Tobias Bruhn of Foundations Community Partnership
1.) Tell us a briefly about your professional life and who you work for. Foundations Community Partnership supports the behavioral health and human service needs of children, young adults, and families in Bucks County, Pa., through grants to non-profit organizations, awarding scholarships to high school seniors, subsidizing service-learning internships for college students, and underwriting professional development programs. I joined FCP in April 2020, just prior to the retirement of founding CEO, Ron Bernstein. I’m also an adjunct faculty member at Bucks County Community College.
2.) What is your favorite thing about the work you do?
Getting to know and supporting the many wonderful non-profit organizations that work compassionately and diligently to help our most vulnerable neighbors in Bucks County. Since its founding in 2007, FCP’s Board of Directors awarded nearly 850 grants totaling over $7.1 million in support of programmatic initiatives, capital needs, organizational growth, professional development, and emergencies. Being a true partner for so many nonprofits over the years gives great meaning to our work.
3.) What is the worst job you ever had?
At a young age, I delivered magazines. Yes, that was a thing at one point. Unfortunately, my weekly subscription route included a lot of high-rise buildings without elevators. I believe this job experience lasted only a few months.
4.) What are your three pieces of advice?
Be curious and never stop learning; find and be a mentor; and have fun in all aspects of your life.
5.) What concerns you the most?
Climate change and society’s economic divide.
6.) What new skill would you like to learn?
Playing the piano. My parents were kind enough to provide me with piano lessons when I was young, but, unfortunately, I never appreciated this gift and did everything I could to avoid practicing and going to lessons. To this day, I regret not taking advantage of this opportunity.
7.) When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A police officer.
8.) What book has had a profound impact on you and why?
I enjoy reading anything by Malcolm Gladwell. His perspectives
fascinate me. I also recently read “Poverty, by America” by Matthew Desmond. A must read in my opinion as he discusses empowering the poor and expanding their choice being a fundamental requirement for ending poverty in America..
9.) What is your pet peeve?
Personally: stacking the dishwasher in all the wrong ways (yes, there is a right way); Professionally: not using Bcc (blind carbon copy) when sending a mass e-mail and inviting a reply-all response in the message.
10.) What is your favorite music genre? Favorite musical performer?
I listen to anything by Coldplay
11.) Who is the one person you would like to meet (dead or alive)?
Since I love reading his books and always have a ton of questions afterward, I would like to meet Malcom Gladwell. Since he lives in NYC, I’m always hopeful to run into him around Central Park when visiting the Big Apple.
12.) What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a dual citizen and served in the German military.

M&W PRECAST & CONSTRUCTION SUPPLY AIMS TO DOUBLE SALES VOLUME
M&W Precast & Construction Supply expects modular precast growth to increase 30% year over year through 2025.
M&W Precast is a division of Wehrung’s Family of Businesses based in Ottsville.
The revenue growth projection mirrors growth trends over the past three years – in fact M&W Precast’s growth could be significantly higher.
The global precast concrete market was valued at about $144.6 billion in 2022. The sector is anticipated to reach $198 billion by 2027 according to a September, 2023 Markets and Markets.com report.
As the first business to launch the Wehrung’s family owned and operated brand more than 75 years ago, precast concrete continues to provide durable, sustainable building materials for a broad variety of construction applications – from office buildings and hotels to apartments and residential housing components.
“We are one of the few remaining familyowned precast companies,” said Jason Wehrung, president of Wehrung’s and the third generation to helm the company.
Despite coronavirus pandemic challenges and supply chain hiccups Wehrung’s continued to expanded its homegrown niche footprint – and robust business growth –from Bucks County into the Lehigh Valley, Montgomery County, Philadelphia and south and western New Jersey.
A newly created position of vice president of sales for Wehrung’s aims to ensure the company’s future and sustainable growth across all its divisions and brands.
Paul Agnese began his tenure with Wehrung’s September 5, 2023. The position is part of a vision to essential double the Wehrung’s company’s revenue.
Agnese will be responsible for a new sales and operations team to be hired to expand the precast concrete division, as well as integrating departments and teams across the organization.
“We want team members to talk more broadly about product lines” and help customers directly with their questions, Agnese said.
“Right now we have a lot of great folks with a ton of experience, and we’re at a crossroads,” Agnese said.
His experience working with a similar family-owned business will help Wehrung’s cross train team members and expand collaboration between Wehrung’s business brands.
“Wehrung’s is at the same place where I began my career with a small familyoriented company,” serving contractors and construction trades in Hammonton, New Jersey, Agnese said.
Many Wehrung’s company team members have spent a years working for the company. It is not uncommon to speak with employees who have 20, 30, 35 or more years of experience working at the firm.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CRISIS STABILIZATION CENTER COMING TO BUCKS COUNTY
Expected to break ground in 2024, the center will bring together under one roof all the components of crisis services that are now fractured across our system.
Families and individuals struggling with a behavioral health challenge such as mental illness, drug & alcohol use, or intellectual disabilities soon will have a new place to go for help.
Plans were unveiled recently for a new, specially designed crisis stabilization center in Doylestown that will bring the best practices in behavioral health systems of care to Bucks County. A major advancement in behavioral health services, the stabilization center will bring together under one roof all the components of crisis services that are now fractured across our system: mental health, drug and alcohol, intellectual disabilities and more, in an environment designed to deescalate the crises.
The first of its kind in Pennsylvania, the center is a collaborative effort between
Lenape Valley Foundation, Doylestown Health, Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health/Developmental Programs, Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Magellan Behavioral Health, and NAMI. Lenape Valley Foundation will operate the center.
“This new center will bring together the various types of services that an individual in crisis needs, so we can get the full picture of this human being and help them on their journey to recovery,” said Sharon Curran, CEO of Lenape Valley Foundation.

TBucks County Aim & Attain Near Completer Grant Provides Free Pathway to Eligible
Individuals who Re-Enroll and
Finish Career Training
hanks to a $1,333,268 award from the PA Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) Near Completer Grant program to the Bucks County Department of Workforce and Economic Development (WED), eligible individuals who had to pause their college or career training certificate programs can apply to complete their education or training at no cost. The Bucks County Aim & Attain Near Completer Grant supports Pennsylvania residents who began a postsecondary educational or training program, maintained a 2.0 GPA or higher, and exited after June 1, 2021 before obtaining an associate degree, bachelor’s degree or certificate. To be eligible, participants must complete their study programs by June 30, 2024.
