Wishing all our members a Happy and Prosperous New Year BRIEFING ON NDILM COURSE FOR LIBRARIANS OF GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS
The briefing was held on Wednesday 16 December 2009 commencing at 9am at Balai Sarmayuda, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Brunei and was chaired by Nellie Dato Paduka Haji Sunny, BLA President. Some 80 librarians attended the event. The briefing organised by BLA in collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Brunei was aimed at raising awareness of librarians from government departments to the availability of the 2 ½ year full-time formal training in Information and Library Management leading to the BDTVEC National Diploma at the Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College. The course is open to in-service librarians. Dyg Hjh Pusparaini Hj Thani, Secretary of the BLA Standing Committee on Professional Training and Certification th briefed the participants on the course. The course which started in July 2000 is now in its 7 intake. Since then 72 have graduated successfully. She also spoke on the BLA Customized Training while Nellie spoke on the Professional Development Scheme for librarians. Awg Hj SiRamlee, Senior Instructor from MTSSR was also present. The briefing ended with a Question and Answer session.
