SOUVENIRS FROM OTHER PARTS OF EUROPE Made by: Lana.V., Maša.C. and Mirjam.Š. class 6.a. Mentor: Vesna Kosmač

FINLAND / UNITED KINGDOM This wooden elk is a souvenir from Finland with a Finnish national flag. Farmers keep hundreds of elks in large Finnish forests. My mum bought it in the Finnish capital city Helsinki.

This is a porcelain mug from London with small pictures of famous things and sights from London: Big Ben, London bus, London taxi, Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and a royal guard. My friend went to London with her family and brought it to me.

THE NETHERLANDS / SCOTLAND This is a traditional wooden clog from the Netherlands. In the past, people were wearing them at work, but today people dance traditional dances in them. On this clog we can see a windmill and a lot of tulips. My mum bought it in Amsterdam.

This is Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. People travel to Scotland because they want to see Nessie. My parents went to Scotland but they did not see the monster. They bought this toy Nessie instead.

ITALY / RUSSIA This is a small metal leaning tower in Pisa. I saw the real famous tower and I bought this metal leaning tower in a souvenir shop when I travelled around Italy with my parents. This is a babushka doll which represents a Russian woman. My grandfather worked in Russia and brought it to my mother.

AUSTRIA / FRANCE Me and my family very like travel and we travel a lot. And last year we were in Vienna, the capital of Austria. We visited a lot of famous things but my favourite is The ZOO. We were in and it's very big and they have got a lot of animals. In Vienna ZOO I first saw panda, because in ZOO in Slovenia we haven't got any pandas. On the picture is my souvenir from there-the snow leopard. But not real, it's just a toy!

We were in France too. But not just in Paris. We were in Disneyland too. In Disneyland we had a lot of fun. It's just one problem. You really have to wait a lot. First for tickets, second for the roller coasters and things like that. First when we got the tickets we were driving in giant tea cups. It was really fun. They were spinning around and driving and‌ It was exciting! Then we were walking and looking for the right thing for us. And we found a roller coaster like a Nemo film. My mum and my friend's dad were scared of it and they didn't go driving with it. First was ride very slow but then‌I was scared and have fun at the same time. It was great! This ride I remember for all life. And that's my souvenir from there.

SLOVENIA / FRANCE And this souvenir is from Lipica. It is a Slovene town and in Lipica there is a horse farm where the famous Lipizzaners come from. Those are Slovene autochthonous horses. They are black or dark brown when they are young but when they grow up they are white like snow. This souvenir was given by my grandma and grandpa when they visited Lipica. I rely like it!

This is my souvenir from small French town – Mont Saint Michel. I was in Mont Saint Michel with my family last year. And my parents bought it for me. I mean parents bought me a souvenir and not all the town. I like it, because it remembers me on my friends. We were with them on holiday and in Mont Saint Mishel. And now about the town. This town is really small and it's all on the hill. At day you can go in, but at night the sea comes around and you can't go in or out.

BOSNIA / FRANCE This souvenir is from Mostar and it's also my. I was in Mostar too and this souvenir remembers me on that day. I had a lot of fun in Mostar with my friends and we were on minaret too. About the town. It isn't very big and the famous building in Mostar is a big and beautiful bridge. I was on it. And the name of the town actually means bridge. Most means bridge.

Everybody in my family loves France and that's why we were in Paris last year. And, of course, we went to the Eiffel tower. It was really an exciting adventure because the Eiffel tower is very high. And on it a very funny thing happened to us. We were standing in the line for one hour to get the tickets. And then we bought them. We went to the middle of the Eiffel tower with an elevator. Then we wanted to go to top of the tower. But there we found out we didn't buy the right tickets. We bought tickets just to the middle of the Eiffel tower not to the top. And then we need to wait in the line for new tickets for top of the tower. But we were on the top. And if you look down you a have really beautiful view. Oh, and on the picture is my souvenir from the Eiffel tower. I think everybody knows it.

UNITED KINGDOM / GERMANY This is London telephone both. My friends Mark and Geoff brought me this souvenir from London. Last year I was in London and I took a picture in the real telephone booth. This souvenir reminds me of that visit. I am saving money in it, for another trip to London.

A pendat key chain is from Legoland. My friend Gaj was there and he liked it a lot. Once we will go there together. I carry it with me every day.

ICELAND / GREECE This is our souvenir from Iceland. It is a miniature Viking. Our teacher went to Iceland in 2010 and showed many things from there. Viking is just one of them.

We also have this beautiful vase from Greece. We like stories from Greece and we wish the vase could talk.

ITALY / IRELAND This is our octopus from Italy – from Venice. It is made from the famous Murano glass. We also have a hippo made from that glass, to keep it company. We have never been to Ireland but we got a present from it. We guess it is very green and full of cute sheep.

MONTENEGRO / AUSTRIA We got this magnet from a person who went to Montenegro on holiday.

Austria has got a lot of snow in the winter. People went there skiing and didn‘t forget about us, collecting souvenirs.

SWITZERLAND / UNITED KINGDOM When someone goes to Switzerland, we expect him to come back with a chocolate. ď Š

This is a lovely candle looking like a letter box. It is so beautiful we will not lit it, but keep it.
