Headteacher’s Welcome

Dear students

Welcome to the academic year 20212022. If you are a new student joining us this year, then welcome to The British School in The Netherlands and to Senior School Voorschoten and if you are continuing your journey here, then welcome back

I was new to the BSN in January last academic year and therefore I understand what it can be like to join a new school in a new country. Everyone in the school made me feel extremely welcome and this is how we plan to make you feel too if you are a new student. In a few weeks you should feel like you have been at SSV for years.

The BSN is a truly diverse school with many nationalities and students from many different backgrounds. This makes it a very special school to be part of and I hope that you will enjoy learning from each other and will continue to share your ideas, beliefs and cultures with each other. The school is a tolerant place and we urge all students to work supportively and collaboratively with each other in order to continue this atmosphere and way of working. One of the most exciting things about school is endless possibilities for learning, both inside and outside of the classroom. The teachers at The British School are highly qualified and highly passionate about their subjects and are ready to share their knowledge and expertise with you in challenging, enquiring lessons. In return we ask that you work with effort and enjoyment in all lessons so that your education has the best possible outcome. Moreover, we are keen that learning continues outside of lessons in all the extracurricular opportunities we provide. Please get involved in a sports team, the International Award, become a student leader – the possibilities are endless.
