THE
FEBRUARY ISSUE
bold, fun, unique...
Love Galore
February is a month generally associated with love. From romantic relationships to platonic, sibling and even that of parents and their children. This issue is dedicated to that, telling the story of love through pictures. I had the pleasure of spending time with “The Mihingo’s” whose love story is just as beautiful as the smiles in the pictures. Make sure to hang in there for the nuggets of wisdom they shared. Enjoy!

I sat down with The Mihingo’s and here’s what they graciously shared with me Q. What advice would you give to young people, like you who are looking to get into a relationship or are already in one? A. If you are looking to get into a relationship or you already are in one, make sure you have a goal in mind such as getting married. If you are single and may be feeling overwhelmed by the loneliness, surrender to God your anxious desires and trust that He will guide you into the right relationship for you. If you are already dating, your relationship with God shouldn’t be replaced/ overshadowed by that of you and your bae. Also remember to be purposeful and intentional about your feelings and that of the other person, relationships are not a game. Q. How would you describe your dating period? Like challenges, adjustment that both of you had to make. A. We had quite an interesting dating period which was hugely be deviled by Covid-19 and the restrictions therefore we had to be creative with it such as embracing technology (video calls). We would also have to be careful with time (punctuality) due to the curfew that was in effect, that meant always being early to our dates so as to make the best out of it.
Q. What has really stood out for you during this first year of marriage that you think is essential for one who isn’t married yet/is in a relationship should be aware of? A. Our advice to you as an individual either single, dating or headed to marriage is maintain a consistent prayer life. Invest in the right/ sound knowledge in regards to matters relationships because you will most definitely need it. Avoid toxic relationship advice because when you get into the real thing, the toxic advice does more harm than good. Q. Describe each other as you have come to know each other during your time together (dating and marriage) Ruth: Lewis is so insightful and thoughtful. He is able to calm me down when I am anxious or when under immense pressure. His wisdom is brought out clearly when we encounter challenges. Lewis: Ruth is a wonderful cook. She is very creative, always finding a creative way to do things. She is always able to give things/ ideas a new lease of life. Q.
What do you guys do for fun? A. Well, we love just hanging out in the house, unwinding especially during the weekends after a long week of working (Ruth is an advocate of The High Court of Kenya and Lewis works as an IT consultant). During such times, we take ice-cream as we catch up on the latest episodes on Abel Mutua’s (Mkuru) channel. We love his stories to bits!

How serene it is, that I get to go mad and write a good story with people like these. A page at a time with each experience
In a different time, we were named strangers. See how the stars aligned for this moment to emerge, for us to have something to call friendship.
Surely you come to find completion in the corners you least seek.
We may not choose the family we’re born into, but we can choose to be a closeknit family.
That despite the madness of this universe, Angles roam around in this world, And by some unmerited favor, We got a chance to call each other ‘mine’
