The Bucks Student lite edition 1 By Jade Collis Remote volunteering

Still have that itch to help out or to do something meaningful with your spare time? Jade Collis has you covered, and will be covering volunteering opportunities you can do from home in every edition.

Volunteering can sometimes be difficult as it usually requires time that you may not think you have, or it requires travel, but what if volunteering can be done from the comfort of your own home? Well guess what, it can! Volunteering is a great thing to get involved with for many reasons. Are you finding yourself with some more spare time? Bored of watching Netflix or making TikToks already? Why not volunteer! Use your time to help your local community and give back to others - it will give you a great sense of achievement for the day. And don’t forget it will bring you one step closer to that next volunteering milestone award! There are a lot of vulnerable people who are self-isolating at the moment. If you’re healthy, symptom-free and not isolating, you can offer to help out neighbours, family and friends. That could be by running errands, offering to walk there dog or cut their grass or even more simple - offer them your time. Talk to them over the phone, or ask if they have facetime to give them some human interaction. Use the card below, or write your own, to offer your help to your local neighbours. (We don’t recommend adding your full address if you are posting the card to people that you don’t know very well) FCancer: FCancer is a website that asks people to donate their skills to cancer charities. There are lots of different skills that are needed, for example they are looking for graphic designers to

design a poster for an event or a videographer or film editor to edit video clips that was taken at an event. If you have a skill visit their website to see how you can help others! Telephone counselling: Charities such as ChildLine and Samaritans depend on volunteer counsellors to reach out to those in need, so why not consider picking up the phone and getting involved on a one-to-one basis?
