This week's guest speaker was Melissa Spaulding, VetSuccess Counselor, with the VetSuccess on Campus program. PRESENTATION HIGHLIGHTS: Mission: "The VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) program aims to help Veterans, Service members, and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling, leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers." VA Educational Programs include: Chapter 30-Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty (MGIB) Chapter 1606-Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve Chapter 1607-Reserve Educational Assistance Program(REAP) Chapter 35-Survivors’ and Dependents, EducationalAssistance Program (DEA), Chapter 33-Post-9/11 GI Bill Chapter 31-VocationalRehabilitation and Employment Chapter 36-Educational and Vocational Counseling Melissa's call presentation focused on Chapters 31 & 36 Chapter 31: Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (VR&E) Any veteran with 10% disability service-connection or higher qualifies (Any discharge other than “dishonorable”)—94% of applicants approved Benefits greater than any other VAeducation/employment benefit Placement assistance, benefit assistance, career counseling Quick approval process--can apply through the E-benefit system Tailored to individual—extensive or light touch; disabilities always considered Vocational interests supported; can set up non-traditional learning routes(apprenticeships, training, etc.) Chapter 36: Educational and Vocational Counseling Available anywhere—active duty members can also receive this Anyone has any eligibility for benefits iseligible for counseling

We are excited to announce that we were selected as one of six beneficiaries of the Big House 5K: Trail to the Victors, presented by Toyota. The Big House 5K will take place on Sunday, April 9, 2017 on the UM Academic and Athletics campuses. Buddy-toBuddy will receive a portion of the proceeds from each registration.
