Robert H. Schenker, 79, early employee of Spenard Builders Supply, Anchorage, Ak., and former owner of Arrow Lumber, Anchorage, died of congestive heart and renal failure July l3 in Anchorage.

A native of Indiana, he moved to Alaska with his three brothers in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army in the Alaska Railroad Reserve Battalion.

After his discharge in 1954, he was hired by Spenard and worked there until he started Arrow Lumber in 1958. He sold his interest in Arrow Lumber in 1967 and went to work for the state of Alaska.

Cecil F. Hansen, JJ. former owner of Alpine Veneers, Portland, Or., died luly 24 in Portland.

A native of Everett, Wa., he moved to Portland and launched Hansen Veneer in 1956, followed by Alpine Veneer, which became the largest softwood veneer firm in the world.

He retired at age 47 after becoming known as a pioneer in the western veneer and plywood industry.

Roy Edwin Lougee, 71, former general manager of Russell Lumber, Douglas, Wy., died July l6 in an automobile accident in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Mr. Lougee served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam after attending New Mexico State University. After the war, he earned graduate degrees in education and taught for 12 years.

After managing Russell Lumber in the 1970s, he operated his own lumberyard and construction business in Wright, Wy., from 1983 to 1987.

John M. Keller, 54, an employee of Keller Lumber, Roseburg, Or., died

Aug. 7 of complications of a hit-andrun crash l0 weeks earlier.

On May 27, 22-year-old Dustin Kyle King pulled out in front of Keller, who was riding his motorcycle to work. Keller tried to brake, but hit the rear panel of King's car.

King was later sentenced to 25 months in prison for fleeing the scene of the accident and failing to perform the duties of a driver.

Daniel Weidner, 81, Oregon lumberman, died Aug. l9 in North Plains, Or.

Mr. Weidner was a paratrooper in the Army's 11th Airborne Division during World War II and served in Japan.

After the war, he and his wife moved to Hillsboro, Or., where he managed Copeland Lumber. He later worked as a lumber broker and real estate agent.
