Europe’s new region for events
New world-class arenas Autumn 2008 saw the opening of two new multi-purpose arenas in Malmö and Lund. A new soccer stadium will be ready in time for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2009. The following year, new multi-purpose arenas in Kristianstad and Helsingborg will boost capacity further. The arenas are located close to the city centres, within easy reach of shopping, meeting places and hotels. The Malmö Arena is just a 20-minute train ride from Scandinavia’s largest airport. With these new arenas and their high level of service, Skåne is one of those regions where events happen. Take for example the 2011 men’s World Championship in Handball, where half the games, including the final, will be played in Skåne.

kåne has everything that the rest of Sweden is known and loved for: natural beauty, friendly and safe cities, fresh air and clean lakes. But we also offer visitors some very distinctive specialties. Skåne is a lively, exciting region with a wealth of cultural and culinary excellence. It’s easy to feel at home here. Almost everyone can converse effortlessly in English, and many people also speak a second or even a third foreign language. In Skåne, you’ll find rural idylls and vibrant city life, challenging golf courses and relaxing hiking trails, medieval castles and ultra-modern architecture. This special closeness between attractions and people makes Skåne one of the regions where events happen in Northern Europe. When it comes to experiences in Skåne, there’s no need to choose one or the other. You can enjoy both. Skåne is the best of both worlds, and this also holds true where events are concerned.
The leisure scene is cosy and informal. On light, warm summer evenings, people like to stay outside until late.
