After nearly 12 months of depression and its resulting weight gain, I came to a point where every woman must arrive. That point where you are sick and tired of your life the way it is. Can you relate?

But what never changed, and I’ll bet it hasn’t changed for you either, is that I didn’t want to live that way. I just didn’t have the gumption or the vision to do anything about it.

The lies I had been telling myself had worn thin and I no longer believed that I had “only put on an extra 5 or 10 pounds.” I had “unfriended” my bathroom scale and we were no longer on speaking terms. And although this was actually a positive thing, I had unfriended a couple of individuals in my real life as well and I found myself quite alone.

I wish I could tell you that I saw a bright shining light one day, and a voice booming from heaven that said, “Barb! Get off the couch.” I didn’t.

I have always been a woman of vision – I imagine things and then strive to make them happen. But at this point, I had no vision, no thoughts and nothing to say to anyone. For the first time in my entire life I had almost nothing to think about. I was a blank. I quit my business, quit returning calls, turned down the lights and if I could’ve hammered the front door to my house closed, I would

To this day I can’t tell you why. But I decided to stick my toe in the waters of the living once more. It began when I got on the bathroom scale. Oh. My. God! I had gained thirty pounds. derstand! Thirty pounds! I had already felt like I was 10 pounds overweight but NOW? Now I was nearly at 200 pounds!! I had surpassed my wildest nightmare for weight gain!

I wanted to tell every one of my 50+ girlfriends to get this program! I’m glad that you DID. So, here we go. We’re going to have a blast unleashing our inner Bombshell!

As much as I wanted to get my body moving, there were some old tapes running that stopped me. “Middle-aged women can’t hope to regain the bodies of their youth.” “Now is the time to accept your new reality: puffiness.” “It’s impossible for women my age to lose the weight.” “The best you can hope for is to firm up, but not to actually lose all those pounds.”

PONDER THIS See that word in the photo below? Bombshell. Think about what it would mean to embody that term. It is no longer about film stars, sex or brazen attitudes. It’s about confidence, style, inner beauty and Joire de Vivre! What would it feel like to release the bombshell inside of you?

I was, and am, on a mission to prove these statements to be completely and utterly false for women over the age of fifty. Enter the Beachbody Company and 21-Day Fix. I thank God for this simple and doable program. In the first three weeks I lost eleven pounds. Over the next 6 weeks I lost another nineteen! Have you ever found something that is so amazing you can’t help but share it? That’s how I felt.

Be Audacious! What’s your BHAG? I’m going to ask you to choose a big, hairy, audacious goal for the next 21 days. Just saying I want to feel healthier is not enough. Be specific. Put numbers to it. Attach it to a feeling. And then do one more thing. S-T-R-E-T-C-H that goal. Reach a bit further and push yourself into the realm of GRAND. That’s what a BHAG is. For instance, if your goal is to lose 10 pounds (which is fantastic), stretch it into, “My goal is to wear a twopiece swim suit, or my favorite cocktail dress, or look good in scuba gear when I learn how to dive! Make it something grand. My BHAG is

My Personal Success Tips for 21 Day Fix

I’ve done 21 Day Fix several times now and here are some of my personal insights. I hope they help you! Consistency is Key Getting up everyday and working out, even when I don’t feel like it or I don’t see results, has been crucial to my success. Success is built on daily disciplines and the results will be seen down the road (but this is 21 Day Fix, so it isn’t a very long road to seeing something happen). Do it DAILY. You’ll be rewarded! Strength Builds You may not see or feel it in week one, but sometime in week 2 your muscles are going to begin to show up. Oh yes my friend! Pure, beautiful, strong, svelte muscle. Don’t forget to celebrate! Food Matters Clean eating and portion control really is key to your success in the next 21 days. As Amber Calabrese says, don’t undo all your hard work (exercising) in the kitchen. Just don’t! Cheats add up One piece of chocolate (or insert your fave cheat here) is fine. But dang! The next day you might want two. Let’s not turn that cheating taste bud on. Let it lie dormant and see what happens. Stick to the food lists girl! Don’t be a Loner Even though I am an introvert, I was MUCH encouraged by my challenge group coach and my fellow challengers. And it really built me up to show up with not only my challenges, but also my new insights and successes. SOMEBODY needs to hear it. Stay close. WE need you! Take your measurements and before photos

Schedule your first workout - It’s going to be on Monday, but what time? Check in to the FB group and tell us how you’re feeling, when you’ll workout the first day and what your BHAG is.
