s women we are natural networkers. We want to know where our friend’s get their hair done, where they shop, which painter they use or who they recommend for just about anything before we make our buying decisions. It has been said that we buy from people we Know, Like and Trust. Women have proven that to be true for eons. The fact that we are the original viral marketers makes us the most powerful buying segment of the marketplace. That’s why we put this resource guide together - so that you could have access to people that we’ve come to know, like and trust. God Bless!

Why Every Businesswoman Needs A Coach by Barbara Wilber

D

uring my initial coach-training course I experienced for the first time the power of a coaching conversation. Even with limited and tentative skills, the effect on my fellow trainees and me was significant – tears were common as were aha moments. I was astounded at how fast you could be moved from stuck to brilliant light bulb moments. I had that sweet realization that happens so rarely, that I was in the right place at the right time for something significant to take place. Coaching as a helping profession is about several different skills that when used in combination creates a transformational environment for people that are ready for change.

So why should every businesswoman have her own coach?

4

1. Being an entrepreneur is a continual journey of change – entrepreneurs are not satisfied with static lives, they are always creating and envisioning a new horizon to aim for. If you want to be successful as a businesswoman, then a coach is exactly who you need to help you navigate and embrace the seas of

change that are necessary for growth and success. 2. Women have long desired success on the level of their male counterparts but have yet to invest in themselves the way that men do. Why? A woman most often considers her needs to be at the bottom of the list when it comes to how to spend her income – kids, home, etcetera all come first. Because of this, businesswomen need to catch up in their mindset of self-investment and accelerate their rate of transformation – most effectively accomplished via a coaching engagement. 3. Women need to talk – we use more words in a day than men – and most often we just want to do a verbal dump. You’ve experienced this if you are married – you share about your day or a certain situation and your helpful spouse tries to fix it for you. While we under-

4. Coaching expedites transformation. No one has the ability to see themselves and their lives from a 360° perspective so we need another pair of eyes and ears. A coach is trained to hear what you are not aware you are saying, and ask questions that bring you to new awareness, speeding up the learning curve. 5. Highly successful sports champions know they need a coach to reach their highest potential. They have come to understand that the level at which they want to play is only possible if they partner with a coach that is invested in their success as well.

Tips for finding the right coach for you 1. Make sure your coach is certified. You should be working with someone that is trained in all of the core coaching competencies (as defined by the ICF) Coaching is about helping you discover your internal resources. If a “coach” is offering you their methodology (even if it is effective) they are consulting not coaching. 2. Make sure you “click” with your coach. Personalities can be a powerful combination and if you are feeling intimidated or disconnected from your coach, you are unlikely to experience the synergy necessary for powerful change. 3. Walk away from a coach that continually talks about themselves and their own story. The coaching engagement is always about YOUR needs, desires and dreams.

stand they are doing this out of love, we usually just need to know that we are heard. A professional coach not only hears you, she hears you in a variety of dimensions that go deeper than just the words you are speaking. It is these deeper dimensions that carry your true story. While you may not be aware of it, your coach is, and she brings that story into focus for you.

4. Find a coach with a compatible world-view. If you are someone that wants to align your life and future with the God of the Bible, then you’ll feel internal conflict with anyone who refers to Him as “the universe.”

Finding Balance in Beauty by Brenda Azevedo

ometimes we think we need to discount our outward appearance because we know that what is on the inside is what is of true value. Beauty is from the inside out; we know that. But the truth is that when you are comfortable in your own skin, you feel better about yourself, and you are able to take on the world in a powerful way. Did you know that an assumption about you is made within the first ten seconds of meeting someone? This is before you have spoken even one word. In addition, according to countless studies, it is difficult to change that first impression. Whether we realize it or not, we communicate many things in those first ten seconds that could impact our personal and professional lives. Advancing in our jobs, our income, and ultimately our happiness can all teeter on someone else’s perception of us. “We make an assumption about someone within ten seconds of being introduced; this impression is largely based on his or her looks—and doesn’t change very easily,” says Oregon State social psychologist Frank Beriberi, Ph.D., in an issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. Fashion, style, and attitude comprise a part of that impression, but what role can make-up (cosmetics) play in that first impression? As it turns out, make-up can help you feel confident and powerful. Others may perceive you as healthier, cleaner, and much more successful. I think the word “radiant” comes to mind. Enhancing ourselves

with mak-eup can help us be perceived in a better light. But too much make-up—used to mask the real you—can be damaging to that perception. Make-up should enhance you, express the real you to the world. Good make-up sharpens the focus and can allow you to naturally feel better about yourself. So the secret is to find balance. Beauty is balance.

Makeup Tips: • Under eye cover-up should be applied sparingly. • Lip liners are not to be “seen”. Line with a nude liner, or when choosing a deeper color, fill in your whole lip or blend down the line. • For full lashes: take a dark eye liner pencil and fill in the space between the lash roots. • Blush adds a healthy glow of color to the face. Bronzer does not. Avoid using your bronzer as a blush. • Choose the intensity of your eye shadow to match the intensity of your eyes.

oday we live in a society where women are bombarded by commercials, magazines, and advertisements that flaunt images of bodily perfection. Many of us are convinced that if we had shinier hair, wrinkle free skin, or toned, size zero bodies, then our lives would be more successful. Many of us women chase this illusion only to realize it doesn’t exist.

you deserve to be fit and to feel great about yourself. Taking care of your body will make you feel healthy and empowered. How can you avoid the trap of trying to fit into a mold created by marketing executives and become the fittest version of yourself? Here are some ideas to try on for size:erage American woman is between a size 12-14. Being a healthy size is more important than any other size. Become fit for more than vanity’s sake: If you are only losing weight to fit into a swimsuit or go to a special event, your weight loss will not be permanent. Choose your health over vanity. Do not compare your body: You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Comparing your body to other women will leave you

Have you bought into the message that bodily perfection equals success? Have you ever told yourself that you would be happier if you lost 10 more pounds? Do you really believe it? Have you allowed the numbers on the scale to dictate your worth? The pressure to be thinner may cause you to feel less than appreciative for your body. Having the desire to fit into a mold may also lead you to yo-yo dieting or even taking drastic measures such as starving yourself. This cycle will never stop until you realize you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God loves you for who you are and not how much you weigh.

10

When God created you He took time to design everything about you including all the things you don’t like about your body. It is important to understand that being fit is not about being a size small; it’s about being a size healthy. It is God’s desire for you to maintain a healthy temple, and your temple may well be healthy at a size 14. Taking responsibility for your health will give you a feeling of empowerment and sense of self-worth to move forward in your calling. Regardless of whether you are a size 6 or 16,

Believe you are worth it: Regardless of your size, believe you are worth the time, effort, and money required to get fit. Identify your internal greatness: Often times women focus solely on improving their outer appearance and neglect their inner spirit. Discover at least five great inner qualities that make you a great woman. Compliment yourself: Everyday is a chance to reaffirm how great you are. Don’t wait to drop a size to complement yourself.

Remember, when God formed you, He took time to create everything uniquely in order for you to fulfill your purpose in life. God is the greatest sculptor of all time, and you are His masterpiece. Take time for yourself, and believe you are worth being fit. Don’t hide who you are; there is an athlete inside of you, and she wants to be released. Set short-term, realistic fitness goals. Learn what is healthy for your body, and find a support system to help you reach your fitness goals. Allow yourself the freedom in Christ to let the world see the real you; you’re the apple of God’s eye, and that means you are awesome!

10 Secrets to Making

GREAT CONNECTIONS

by Stephanie Sherwood

T

oo often people think networking is a business card collection game and then wonder why after hours of time spent “networking” they have nothing to show for their investment other than a big stack of cards. Networking at its purest and simplest form is an activity that is to be used as a foundation to build relationships! 1. Call Ahead - Having the knowledge of who is going to be at the event empowers you to put the right strategy into play. 2. Have a plan - Set a goal for each event. Know, before going in, what you want the outcome to be. 3. Be Prepared - Have your networking tools with you at all times: • Branded name badge • Ample supply of business cards • Marketing collateral • our personal introduction 4. Arrive early and stay late – Most great conversations happen during these times. 5. Be truly present – Leave the office at the office, the kids and the laundry at home, the cell phone in the car and check your troubles and your worries at the door. 6. Be a giver and/or a connector – Be focused on “giving and helping others, the “getting” will come later. 7. Listen with focus – Give your entire focus to the person speaking. This includes your eyes, your ears and thoughts! 8. Be authentic – Leave the impression of someone that truly cares not of a “schmoozer”. 9. Do teach/Don’t sell – Never miss the opportunity to teach others about who you are, as a person, and what it s that you do.

14

10. Follow up – To build true relationships you must dig deeper and make the continued effort to reach out and learn more about others.
