Transport for DGI - World Team 2008 / 2009 Blue Water Odense has since September 2008 been in charge of the transport of the World Team’s gymnastic apparatuses for their world tour. The World Team consists of 28 of Denmark’s absolute top gymnasts, selected according to a very strict programme. The team is touring every third year, and this time the destinations included South Africa, Japan, Australia, India, USA, Costa Rica, Colombia and Great Britain. 2 sets of apparatuses - each consisting of 34 pieces - were forwarded around the world, in all directions, to meet the deadlines of the shows. Mentally, it was in particular important for the gymnasts to know that the familiar apparatuses from Denmark had arrived and were available for them at the different destinations.

The tour started in September 2008 at Blue Water’s warehouse in Odense, where the first set of apparatuses were delivered in co-operation with gymnasts in high spirits. Blue Water Odense has, as coordinator, worked together with many of the Blue Water Group’s airfreight offices and competent agents. It was obvious that all parties involved were very interested in the project and we have enjoyed a really good co-operation through and through. The majority of the apparatuses were sent by air, but we have made use of sea freight and road transport as well. The World Team and the group supporting them have expressed their full satisfaction. Naturally Blue Water hopes to repeat the success, when the next World Team will be touring the world.

A Royal Story from Sisimiut

One of the World Team’s fantastic shows, which some of us were lucky to watch, when they after their world tour gave 23 performances in Denmark.

We have made an agreement with Egidijus Petrenas that he takes over all shares in UAB Blue Water Baltic, situated in Vilnius, Lithuania, with effect as from 9.7. Egidijus, who has just turned 30, is a competent and experienced freight forwarder and has been the head of the office for the past 3 ½ years. The office will continue with the same staff and the same activities, but under the new name of Baltic Shipping Center UAB. We will still consider Egidijus and his team a close partner of the Blue Water Group and part of the family. We also still expect to

At the end of May, Greenland welcomed three royal visitors, as the three heirs to the Throne, Victoria of Sweden, Haakon of Norway and Frederik of Denmark, stayed a week to study the inland ice and learn more about the climate change. Kenneth Skovbjerg Pedersen of Blue Water Sisimiut was having a bit of trouble, as he was supposed to deliver two Blue Water Greenpacks (air consignments) - important spare parts - to the warship ”Ejnar Mikkelsen” before departure for Disko Bay at 1300 hours with the royal visitors on board. Now we were in deep water because the scheduled flight were not supposed to arrive until 1500 hours. Luckily there was a couple of flexible freight people in Søndre Strømfjord,

whom we persuaded to let the two parcels on board the chartered plane, with the royal visitors, even though it was against the rules. Did anyone ever doubt that we were unable to handle the situation! Next problem occurred in Sisimiut, when the parcels, in the chaos caused by the royal visitors’ arrival, ended in the royal luggage before Kenneth arrived to collect them. Fortunately Kenneth got to the port at the very moment the luggage was to be carried on board, and he asked permission to take the two parcels, which he delivered to the captain personally - and everybody was happy! May we now - with our Blue Water Greenpack product - call ourselves purveyor to the scandinavian Courts ?

Rig Move from Oklahoma to Newfoundland In June, Blue Water Houston was entrusted with the transport of a land rig from Elk City, Oklahoma to Newfoundland in Canada. The rig is of the ”Step-down Telescopic Triple” type and is used for oil and natural gas exploration on land. The Canadian owner of the rig contracted the rig to the Canadian oil and gas exploration company who awarded Blue Water the transport. The co-ordination and preparation was in particular important for this move, as it was the first time the rig was transported by sea. The rig was transported in 399 parts, which had a total weight of 761 tons. All parts were trucked to the port of Houston and loaded on to a vessel - an operation which took about 3 days and was closely supervised by Lars Jedermann Jørgensen from Blue Water Houston.

Two weeks later, when the rig arrived at Stephenville in Newfoundland, Lars Jedermann Jørgensen was again ready to follow the discharging to make sure everything was going as planned. The port of Stephenville was formerly used for shipment of paper for a paper mill and is not constructed to handle multipurpose vessels of the size used for this transport. Luckily everything went according to plan, and we won praise for the successful transport, reports Esben Flinker Nørgaard of Blue Water Houston.. The rig has been contracted to the Canadian company for a period of 6-8 months and will then be moved to a new location. Naturally we hope to become involved in the next move as well if it is going to be by sea.

Transport of Crushing Plants For more than a year, Blue Water has transported crushing machinery for a local client in Azerbaijan - around 1400 cbm per plant. The cargo has been controlled by Blue Water Baku with assistance from Blue Water Georgia and Blue Water Houston. The crushing machinery was bought by a local company in Azerbaijan from different US vendors in both South Dakota, Oregon and Pennsylvania. In May, Blue Water also handled the biggest shipment so far, 110 dump trucks, 12 tractors and 14 crushing machines. The goods were picked up at three different areas in the US

and transported to the port of Galveston to meet a ro-ro vessel, which sailed the units to Poti in Georgia for on-carriage to Baku in Azerbaijan. In the port of Galveston, Blue Water Houston was represented by Lars Jedermann and a marine surveyor to make sure everything was handled properly. After loading of all the units, the vessel made for Misurata, Libya and Beirut, Lebanon until reaching Poti, Georgia in early June. In Poti, Blue Water Georgia took over the on-carriage and delivery to the final destination in Baku.

Accommodation Modules for ”Jumbo Javelon” Blue Water Aberdeen has been awarded the transportation of 17 offshore accommodation modules from Ferguson Modular in Aberdeen to Rotterdam. The first module was moved in the first week of July and Blue Water personnel was

present to witness the safe loading. The modules, which are manufactured at Ferguson’s manufacturing facility in Inverurie north of Aberdeen, will form part of an accommodation complex on board the heavy-lift vessel ”Jumbo Javelin”.

As often before, Blue Water participated in the annual offshore show OTC in Houston in May. 2009 saw the OTC’s 40th anniversary with attendance reaching approx. 68,000 despite the global economic recession. This year’s exhibition was the second largest in OTC’s 40-year history, with more than 557,000 sq.ft. of exhibition area filled to capacity by 2,500 companies from 38 countries. Blue Water was part of the Danish pavilion which was well visited - especially when we had the traditional morning song and toast ! Thomas Bek/Blue Water Esbjerg, Es-

4 Successful Move of 78 ton Pedestal Crane In May 2009, our project oil & energy department of Blue Water Shipping Singapore delivered another huge unit of pedestal crane, with the dimensions (L)28m x (W)5.8m x (H)8.40m and weight of 78 tons, from Plimsoll MacGregor Singapore to Jurong Shipyard for installation onto a rig. Road survey was done and due to its road limitation, the pedestal crane was not permitted on the road. Transportation using tug and barge was the only option. For this cargo operation, we had also mobilised one unit of 18-axle multi trailer to transport from Plimsoll MacGregor yard to private wharf vicinity and also mobilised

one unit of 500 tons mobile crane to lift the pedestal crane onto the chartered barge. A marine surveyor was hired to ensure that proper sea fastening was done before the sailaway to Jurong Shipyard. The whole logistic planning including safety went smoothly, and the delivery to the shipyard was on time for the installation onto the rig.

Maersk Contractors and Aker Solutions Malaysia Blue Water was awarded the transportation of 130 marine risers from Aker Solutions in Port Klang, Malaysia. The risers were to be delivered alongside the semi-submersible rig ”Maersk Developer” in Singapore Western Anchorage. Jason Goh/Blue Water Singapore explains that time was of the essence in connection with this operation, which was challenging and difficult due to the weight and dimensions of

the risers; (L) 22.86 m, (diameter) 1.4 m, (weight) 26 tons each. Shipment was performed in 3 batches during Christmas and Chinese New Year

The staff of Blue Water Singapore celebrated Chinese New Year together at a reception, enjoying a delicious buffet and watching the traditional Chinese lion dance. The new year is called ”Year of the Ox”.

In relation with Azurite FDPSO project in Congo, Blue Water Singapore was called in by Franklin Offshore to provide transportation solution for 800 cbm mooring equipment to Congo. The solution was charter of m/s ”Ester C”, which in the picture is loaded with the equipment.

Blue Water participated in Wind Exhibitions in China Blue Water participated in ”Offshore Wind China Conference” in Shanghai during the days of June 29-30. The Danish Exporters’ Association had arranged a small poster stand for 6 Danish companies including Blue Water. China is considered one of the richest countries in respect of offshore wind resources - estimated at 750 gW along a coastline of about 18,000 kilometres, where 40% of the population is living and the electricity con-

sumption is biggest. The conference was sponsored by Vestas and was well attended, reports Arne Iversen from China. We also participated in ”Wind Power Asia Exhibition” in Beijing from July 8-10 with a stand in the Danish pavilion, arranged by the Danish Exporters’ Association, where 20 Danish companies participated. The exhibition took place for the first time in 2003 and is now regarded as one of Asia’s biggest wind power events.

A good start of year 2009! Blue Water Singapore received a hotshot airfreight inquiry from Keppel Fels in Singapore for airfreight of 17 units of sheaves - weighing 155 tons in total - from Norway to Singapore.

Windpower 2009 Chicago also caught Blue Water’s attention as Søren Thorup Nielsen/Blue Water Los Angeles paid the exhibition a visit. Here Søren is together with Casper Nielsen/KR Wind at KR Wind’s stand.

In the beginning of May, Blue Water was awarded the contract for transport of approx. 3000 cbm of risers from Port Klang, Malaysia to Willemstad, the Dutch Antilles. As it was an extremely urgent shipment, Blue Water chartered the M/S ”Leda Trader” which has a top speed of up to 22 knots. To assist with the loading, two stevedore foremen from Blue Water’s headquarters in Esbjerg arrived to work alongside with personnel from Blue Water Singapore, explains Thomas Bek of Blue Water Marine & Energy. After 24 days’ sail, the risers were discharged directly from the vessel on to the platform - once again under supervision of our competent personnel.

The job was performed successfully due to our team of experienced stevedore foremen, naval architect and project freight forwarders making use of each other’s competences and experiences.

CIS - our own backyard

Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition, Baku

Blue Water has for decades offered transport solutions to the countries around the Caspian Sea. It was, however, not until 1996, with the opening of our first office in Azerbaijan, that we really became one of the leading freight forwarders in the area. We now have our own offices in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan with an experienced staff of 70 people. Our offices offer all kinds of transport and logistic services. In ad-

According to UN’s World Economic Situation and Prospects 2009 Report, Azerbaijan will remain the country with the most dynamic economy within the CIS. The report also says that the national economy will increase by 14%. Important figures for Blue Water’s continuous commitment in the region, explains Business Development Manager for CIS, Kanan Zeynally/Blue Water Aberdeen. It was therefore important for us to

attend the 16th Caspian Oil & Gas Eshibition in Baku. The number of participants had, however, decreased this year due to the worldwide economic crisis, but the big players in the Caspian oil market - BP, Statoil and Saipem - were as usual represented with big stands. At the exhibition, Blue Water was represented by our local people from the Baku office and Kanan Zeynally/Blue Water Aberdeen.

Baku Express Blue Water has for 10 years been offering groupage services to several CIS countries on the basis of our Azerbaijan office. Our local trucks in the UK, Denmark, Norway and the rest of Europe collect the goods for delivery to our depots in Holland or Denmark. From here the goods are transported directly to Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan by road. The transports are handled by our experienced staff, who know the specific requirements to customs handling, invoice and packing list.

All shipments are followed closely, and the customer receives daily update on the precise location of the truck and expected date of arrival at destination. On arrival, our local offices are able to assist with customs clearance, delivery or storage facilities. In addition to groupage, we naturally offer full loads as well as outof-gauge transport by road. For further information regarding road transport to CIS please contact Lasse Wolff/ e-mail: lnw@bws.dk.

Projects Blue Water Shipping has since the opening of its first office in Baku been involved in some of the biggest projects around the Caspian Sea. Due to the geographical location, it is necessary to sail or tug all major units - typically produced in the Far East - through the Russian river system. A very challenging job due to the size and draught of the 19 locks we will have to pass through the river system. The staff of our Moscow, Esbjerg and Singapore offices are, however, very experienced in these

challenging jobs. When combining their experience with the competences of our stevedore foremen, engineers and project forwarders, we have succeeded in arranging some of the biggest projects which include transit through the river system. The latest project included transport of the biggest units that have ever been transported through the Russian river system - each unit weighing close to 6000 tons and measuring (L)132.8 m x (W) 16 m x (H) 17 m.

6 Co-operation with Marel Group

SPE / ESE, Brussels 28.-30.4.2009

Our exhibition department in Esbjerg has for a number of years enjoyed a very good co-operation with Marel Group with headquarters in Iceland. The company participates in 30 exhibitions around the world on an annual basis. Marel Group primarily manufactures processing machines to the food industry, be it meat, fish or poultry. As Marel Group is very strict about both deadlines and service, the solutions we arrive at together are often rather complicated. Most recently we had shipments from 5 different countries for the fisheries exhibition, SPE, in Brussels. Part of the

Once again, the world’s biggest fisheries exhibition - SPE / ESE attracted a large number of visitors. Smyril Blue Water had their own stand - with representatives from Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Iceland - in the Danish Pavilion under the Danish Exporters’ Association. Furthermore, colleagues from Blue Water in Denmark and France with contact to the fishing industry dropped by. Blue Water’s exhibition department was co-ordinator for the main part

goods was for subsidiary companies around the world and another part was reforwarded to an exhibition in Barcelona. From here it was sent on to another exhibition, Eurocarne, in Verona. This particular job, which was performed in co-operation with Blue Water Milan, has been commended and mentioned in the Marel Group’s house magazine. On a worldwide scale, Marel Group employs 4000 people and is an extremely important client for our exhibition department.

of the Danish exhibitors’ goods - approx. 30 truck loads - and after the exhibition, a large part of the goods were to be forwarded to other exhibitions around Europe. It was a huge co-ordination job, which also included delivery of fresh fish every day, and resulted in very long working hours for our on-site exhibition expert, Lasse Reuss/exhibition department, Esbjerg. Everything went without a hitch and we are pleased that all exhibitors were satisfied with our efforts.

Marel’s stand.

Nordshipping - Lillestrøm, Norway Despite the severe crisis in the marine sector, this year’s Nordshipping exhibition in Lillestrøm was sold out and the number of visitors was 15% higher than in 2007. Once more, Blue Water’s exhibition department had the pleasure of co-ordinating the Danish collective stand - approx. 1000 m2 - and we also had our own stand. We had two forwarders in Lillestrøm both before and after the exhibition to

co-ordinate deliveries, unpacking and packing, trucking and collection of empties - and everything went smoothly. Elisabeth Thomsen from Blue Water’s canteen in Esbjerg was the chef of the Danish collective stand, where approx. 6000 open sandwiches were made during the 4 exhibition days - a feat for which she gained much praise.

Vannes in the Final

Research Vessel at Brest

When our good client and friend, Michel Jestin, took over the small football club of Vannes in early 2008, when the team had just come from third to second division in the French football league, nobody would ever have imagined that they would make it all the way to the final in the French ”Coupe de la Ligue” already in April 2009. But they did ! Surrounded by his staff - including the former professional football player, Fredric Cado, now partner in Jestin SAS - Michel Jestin had the pleasure to watch his team playing in the final against Bordeaux. They had made it all the way to the Stade de France by having beaten first division teams like Auxerre,

Valenciennes and Nice. 76,000 spectators including French President Sarkozy watched the match, which Vannes sadly lost 4-0. Fabrice Rolland and Mogens Nielsen from Blue Water France also watched the match and partied the night away on board a Parisian river boat together with Vannes’ players, staff, friends and sponsors.

Blue Water Brest was appointed agents for the research vessel ”Celtic Explorer”, operating for Marine Institute, when she called at Brest during the days of May 2-5, 2009. Marine Institute is the Irish governmental agency responsible for marine research, and the vessel is managed by P&O Maritime Services. The vessel stayed in the port of Brest for some small repairs on the ROV and for scientist/ crew change. After completion of repairs, the vessel left Brest on 5.5. to participate in a campaign of geological

M/S ”Bjorgvin Senior”, owned by Vetrasputni, Lithuania and chartered to Nordic Offshore, Denmark, discharged a cargo of scrap cables at Brest from June 14-16. The vessel will return for a similar job later in the summer.

In keeping with Tradition, Jacky Hamon/Casco hosted the annual golf tournament ”Golf Reflexion”, which this year took place on 7.5. ”It was a bright and sunny day, and I was only one stroke from the podium”, says Mogens Nielsen/Blue Water Brest. Better luck next time!

Cruise & Marine Logistic Network

Holland America calling at Denmark

The first official meeting in the newly established Cruise & Marine Logistic Network was held in Esbjerg on 14.7. The network consists of specialists within logistics to the cruise and marine industry and the purpose is to form a global network. The parties involved deal with all kinds of transport to the cruise and marine industry and offer specific logistic solutions including pick and pack and specially designed IT systems with 24-hour track & trace of transport by road, sea and air as well as solutions to all domestic, international and overseas destinations. In the near future, all marketing material will be available and the website is in the process of being designed. For further information

Blue Water Copenhagen is pleased that the cruise season has brought hectic activity to the office. Blue Water has since the first call in May handled 6 calls/approx. 40 containers in Aarhus and Copenhagen of m/s ”Rotterdam”, m/s ”Prinsendam” and m/s ”Eurodam” respectively. When the season is over, we have handled around 70 containers distributed on 11 calls. We are in charge of provisioning of food especially ordered by Holland America Line from different suppliers in the USA. The food is packed in reefer containers and handled by Blue Water, Fort Lauderdale before we take over the remaining part of the transport until everything is delivered directly to the ship. We started the year with meetings with all parties involved in order to secure an optimal standard of service and a smooth handling. Afterwards we have maintained a close dialogue, which has resulted in a trouble-free operation so far, explains Thomas Jeppesen of Blue Water Copenhagen.

We enjoy a close and excellent co-operation with CMP (Copenhagen Malmo Port) and the border customs house - in both Aarhus and Copenhagen. In Copenhagen, we use CMP for container trucking to and from the veterinary inspection and delivery at the vessel. In Aarhus, Cargo Service takes care of container trucking. In addition to containers, we handle more than 400 shipments by courier and air, explains Kasper Nielsen from our airfreight department. All these orders to the vessel comes from Holland America Line’s worldwide suppliers, and Blue Water serves as consolidation hub for the entire Scandinavia/the Baltic Sea for spare parts etc. to be delivered to the ship in the fastest and safest way. The goods may vary from advertising material and personal effects of the seamen to essential marine engine parts. Storage of the goods until ship’s arrival requires a lot of work in connection with customs clearance and extensive follow-up.

Project ”2880 Gjøa”

Import of American Cars

Blue Water has been entrusted with a huge, interesting project ”2880 Gjøa” for our very good client NKT Flexibles A/S in Brøndby and Kalundborg. Over the past 4 months, we have arranged transport of approx. 50 full loads from the UK to Blue Water Copenhagen, where the goods - 4,800 cbm Buoyancy Modules - are now stored. The goods consist of buoyancy modules for oil and gas pipes going from the bottom of the sea to connections on an oil rig in the Gjøa field off Bergen on the Norwegian coast. NKT’s client, StatoilHydro, has bought the modules as a package consisting of 7 flexible pipes among other things. The first 197 modules have already been delivered at Kalundborg to ”Polar Queen” - an installation vessel, which is going to perform installation of both pipes and modules in the Gjøa field. ”Polar Queen” is expected back at Kalundborg in mid-August, when

This spring has again seen a lot of inquiries for import of cars from the USA. Despite the financial crisis, there are still some car enthusiasts who brave the situation and make their dream come true. US Carteam of Blue Water Copenhagen has also experienced an increase in inquiries during the last couple of months as the summer has drawn close.

delivery of the remaining 128 modules is supposed to take place. In addition, we have arranged 4 special transports by truck - in co-operation between Blue Water Copenhagen and our project department in Esbjerg - as well as marking of the bolts on the modules, which will be replaced during installation.

Several cars are already on their way from the USA and more are ready for loading. This activity is carried out in co-operation with our good colleagues at Blue Water’s New York office, who are responsible for the US customs formalities, loading etc. US Carteam is ready to make your dream come true! Trophy Transport Blue Water Aarhus has during the last couple of years developed a small niche within trophy transport. Every second month, we ship a full container with trophies from South Africa. Furthermore we have orders from customers for trophies from New Zealand, Canada, USA, Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Spain, Namibia, Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe, explains Carl Hjort Bækby/Blue Water Aarhus, who jointly with Søren Ladekjær (airfreight) and Jesper Kyhn (Sea freight) are dealing with the bookings. Thanks to Amakulu Safari in Grindsted - who is represented in

both Denmark and South Africa Blue Water has secured a foothold within this special niche. Hunting is a matter of opinion just like any other issues. We do not take part in the discussion, but we do make sure that our partners are serious companies and organisations and that the hunting is organised and legal. All necessary certificates are issued in accordance with the Washington Convention, protecting endangered species, and all circumstances are checked for each shipment in connection with import to Denmark.

Reception at Blue Water Holland Blue Water Rotterdam moved into new office and warehouse facilities on 16.3. The event was celebrated with no less than two receptions - the first official opening on 15.5. for customers and the second one on

20.5. for colleagues and other business relations of the shipping and transport industry. Everybody enjoyed the Danish element; open sandwiches, Danish beer - Tuborg - and Danish aquavit.

When participating in exhibitions in Denmark, Amakulu Safari do not make a secret of who is helping them with the transport.

Transport for Falck Nutec

LauritzenBlueC Blue Water has jointly with J. Lauritzen, Copenhagen and the offshore company, SubCPartner, established a company - LauritzenBlueC - with the object of executing orders for complete offshore installations and offshore

wind farms. J. Lauritzen is responsible for the shipping activities, SubCPartner for offshore installation and Blue Water for the logistics. The company is managed by Frank Mouridsen/Blue Water.

Falck Nutec offers training and safety education to the offshore sector. Training centres have therefore been established at strategic locations - not only around the North Sea, but around the world. Blue Water Marine & Energy has in this respect during the last couple of years arranged transport of mobile training centres to USA and the Middle East among other destinations. Falck Nutec’s latest addition is a new centre in Abu Dhabi, for which they have high hopes and expect to educate 20,000 people on a yearly basis.

Project Transport of Boilers for Solar Energy Plant In October 2008, our project department in Esbjerg received an inquiry from BK Aalborg for transport of boilers for a big solar energy plant. The plant, which takes up an area of approx. 2000 acres, is placed in the South of Spain close to Seville. The transport project includes shipment of 40 boilers - weighing between 40 and 80 tons - from Aalborg and Shanghai respectively - in 5 lots during 2009/2010. The first two transports are completed. The boilers from Aalborg

were transported by road combined with Cobelfret’s RO/RO service from Esbjerg to Zeebrugge and Transfennica’s RO/RO service from Zeebrugge to Bilbao. The boilers from Shanghai will be sent as partial cargo by heavy-lift vessel from Shanghai to port of Seville. Our project department in Esbjerg as well as Blue Water Singapore and Blue Water Projects, Barcelona are involved in the project. Barcelona will take care of the discharging of the vessel and oncarriage to the site.

Blue Water is not only involved in the actual transport, we also act as advisers for customs formalities of the different markets, where Falck Nutec is setting up new training centres. Last autumn, Falck took over the majority of shares in American Alford Group, and in this connection Blue Water was entrusted with removal of a complete training centre from Malaysia to the States. Our latest job was to provide assistance in connection with delivery of an ambulance to Nigeria, reports Lasse Nørgaard Wolff/oil & energy, Esbjerg.

13 Blue Water España was buzzing with excitement at the end of May - not least because they could now chaff their Manchester colleagues. FC Barcelona won the whole lot - the Spanish cup tie, the Spanish League and Champions’ League. There is a splendid view from the office in Via Laitana, where our colleagues watched the team’s triumphal procession.

We have for safety reasons installed Card Aids/Defibrillators at the Danish offices. We are a lot of people at the offices every day and it is reassuring to know that we are now prepared for emergencies. A number of employees have attended first aid courses, but anybody should be able to use the Card Aid without prior knowledge.

Blue Water’s staff in Sao Paulo have attended a meeting/course at MSC in Santos in order to follow developments within the reefer business. It was the third time MSC offered their clients an update. In addition to practical and technical details, we also got the opportunity to see the port of Santos.

Company Excursion 134 Blue Water runners and an enormous cheering crowd had a wonderful day in Gryden (part of a big park in Esbjerg) on Saturday 14.6. Our best male runner on the long distance (9.2 kilometres) was Peter Lauridsen, finishing with a 38.11.0 clocking, and Mette Thomsen was best female with a 42.30.0 clocking.

”Sculptures by the sea” As start of the summer party of our Aarhus office, the staff visited the successful exhibition ”Sculptures by the Sea”. A hired guide showed our colleagues the unique sculptures along the beautiful Aarhus Bay

coastline. It was a fantastic sight, works of art from all over the world, placed on land, in the water and in the sand, and sculptured in many different shapes, colours and materials.

The annual company excursion arranged by the staff club for the staff (in cluding their partners) of Blue Water Esbjerg, Billund and Herning was held on Saturday 25.4. The day’s programme started at 1200 hours and included lots of physical activities such as team building and not least fun and trickery. The party in the evening, with plenty of food and drink, continued with dancing all night.

Steen Schou/IT department goes in for the sport of bridge, and in late April he and his team won the fine title, which also included Prince Henrik’s trophy. Jubilees 10 years Karen Stein worked as a substitute in our accounts department in Esbjerg from 18.1 until 1.11.1999, when she was transferred to a permanent job in the UK/Ireland department. Once she was also hired out to airfreight on a part-time basis, but is now 100% back in the UK/Ireland department taking good care of the many administrative duties as well as claims. On the home front, Karen is an active wife and mother for her 3 x J: Jørgen, Jakob and Joakim. She also plays in Esbjerg Post Orchestra together with Jørgen and is a treasurer in the local scouts association. Finn B. Jensen will be celebrating his 10th anniversary with Blue Water Padborg on 1.11. Finn is our man on evening duty, trying to keep control of the foreign truck drivers in particular - who come to collect papers - and confused terminal staff trying to locate some fish. Sometimes a little Polish or Russian knowledge would have been an advantage, but Finn manages to keep calm and sort things out so that the drivers can continue their onward transport. Dorthe Liebmann Knudsen served her apprenticeship with Scandinavian Germent Service in Odense (the present DHL). Dorthe started as assistant in the airfreight department of Blue Water Odense on 1.11.1999, but the job developed and soon Dorthe became an integrated part of the daily airfreight operation. She has since acquired the Forwarding School’s diploma degree including both road trans-

port and airfreight as special subjects. Furthermore Dorthe has taken refresher courses to keep up her skills within the fields of hazardous goods and airfreight. In 2006, Dorthe took over the secretarial post in the sales department and is today our local SMS expert as well. On the home front, Dorthe is married to Michael and the family also includes their two sons Kris and Kevin.

20 years Frank Junk joined Blue Water Padborg on 1.7.1989 - only 17 years old - and started his career under the management of Wolfgang Schubert - specialist in customs formalities. No one doubts that Frank is trained with order and details as important elements in the daily work, which he masters completely. In 1991, Frank was transferred to our road department in Esbjerg. Germany soon became his favourite destination and is today his core competence. The Germany and Benelux department moved to Kolding in 1998 and so did Frank. In 2003, he was appointed head of the department which numbers 9 colleagues. Frank is incredibly energetic and always ready to meet the challenge - and is happy to help his colleagues whenever necessary. Frank never makes mistakes - so he says!!! He always has a ready answer and he is a real joker and party freak!! A lot of people wonder how Frank can be married to Sanne - when he is already married to Blue Water. Frank and Sanne live in Kolding and have two daughters Josephine

aged 5 and Sophie aged 3. We hereby thank Frank for his great efforts and congratulate him on the occasion. Anette Tholstrup Corell/Blue Water Esbjerg will be celebrating her 20th jubilee on 15.10. Anette originally started as a receptionist, but has over the years developed into a bit of an all-rounder and is today part of our sales administration assisting our 3 salesmen, superuser on our sales system and not least instructor on our internal IT products. Anette is a happy girl and great fun and always ready to lend a helping hand. She is a bit of a shopaholic - with a weakness for boots and shoes in particular (she is probably the person in Denmark who has the biggest amount of shoes in her closet). Anette lives in Varde with her husband, Lars, and two sons, Peter and Frederik, and the whole family shares a passion for golf. Anette likes to watch a football match at Blue Water Arena - especially when AFG (her native football club) is playing !

Fred Kegge/Blue Water Rotterdam - after 25 years of complaining with a smile about Blue Water, acting as a beer bottle with a swing top of his favourite beer on his head.

Staff Redeployment Morten Plauborg Sørensen is after a period with Ocean Freight, Paris transferred to Blue Water New York as from 29.5. Diana Kaa completed her apprenticeship with Blue Water Aarhus on 31.7., and moved to Blue Water Gothenburg on 1.8.

Nicolai Wiedeman, who served his first year of apprenticeship with Smyril Blue Water, Padborg and the recent months in Hanstholm, will be transferred to Esbjerg. Kenneth Ruby Sørensen/agency department, Esbjerg will be transferred to Blue Water Singapore this autumn.

Frank Junk on the day of his jubilee.
