Status 2011 Record-breaking Profit

In our Status for 2010 we took an optimistic view of the coming year and believed that we had an exciting year ahead of us. Luckily, we were right, and we can now look back on a year with new initiatives and activities as well as a recordbreaking profit.

Shortly after New Year, we held a toppingout ceremony at our future headquarters on Trafikhavnskaj 9. In the middle of the summer, we moved into our new domicile – a much needed enlargement of the office capacity. Now everybody has sufficient elbow room and room to thrive.

It has, however, been a long process installing ourselves in our new house, and modifications have followed - but the office was operational from day one.

The intention of having the inaugural ceremony for our new office together with Blue Water’s 40th anniversary on 1.9.2012 is not at all a bad idea. On the contrary, we have been a bit provident.

We already look forward to showing you our new house when everything has fallen into place.

More information will follow in the next iszsue of Blue Water News.

In 2011, new departments/offices saw the light of day and others have increased through acquisitions: •

In Grenaa, we took over Østship, which continues in its own name, however, with the addition: member of the Blue Water Group.

•

In Aarhus, we took ownership of Eurouter A/S which is now part of Blue Water Aarhus.

•

In Gothenburg, we acquired the company Sea-Air Logistics to strengthen our sea and air activities.

•

In Florida, we established an office and warehouse in Miami – an addition to Fort Lauderdale – to provide services to the cruise industry.

•

In England, we established a joint venture with British company Danbrit: Blue Water Danbrit in Goole (at the Humber) servicing the wind industry.

•

In Spain, our project department moved from Barcelona to La Coruna, whereas the general sea and airfreight activities of Blue Water Shipping España remain in Barcelona.

•

In Iceland, we established our second office in Reykjavik.

We also experienced the pleasure of being certified by Fonasba as well as obtaining the AEO certification.

It is not easy to select one interesting project for another, however, here is one of the real big ones: a project transport of FPSO Cidade de Paraty for SBM Offshore from Singapore to Brazil.

Several of Blue Water’s offshore-related offices – Singapore, Holland, Scotland, Denmark, Houston, Rio de Janeiro - were involved in the project which ran over a period of 30 months.

Result 2011

With the delivery of 140 wind turbines for Vestas and Leighton Contractors for the Macarthur Wind Project, we believe that we have secured a foothold in the very interesting Australian market.

We do not follow the trend of the media seeing financial crisis everywhere, We believe in headlines like: “Danish export will set a record in 2012” and similar positive statements.

These are useful prospects for us - being a transport company - and promise well for the future.

Blue Waters keeps growing and is in a rapid global development - and we wish to continue this trend in 2012.

Our company is based on knowledge, skills and innovation - but also on our abilities to quickly adapt to the market conditions.

What happens to the economy in Europe, USA, China, the oil prices etc. - circumstances that may change the development in no time.

Another large project to be mentioned is for Lamprell: transport of a drilling rig from Dubai into the Caspian Sea. This project is still in the start-up phase and will continue in 2012.

In addition to these spectacular assignments, we have lots of routine jobs, which are part of our workday and just as important.

Two very exciting experiences that stand out are no doubt our visits to India and Australia – countries that were never part of our personal travel map until 2011. We visited India in early 2011 for the WWPC/World Wide Project Consortium conference in Mumbai and seized the opportunity to see more of the very interesting country which is in a rapid development. At the end of the year, we joined the promotion tour, State of Green – Join the Future – Think Denmark, and continued on a long journey learning to know this fabulous continent – from Tasmania in the south to Perth in the west, Daintree in the north and Sydney in the east. In the future, there will no doubt be more activities for Blue Water in Australia!

At the turn of the year, the Blue Water Group employed 957 people at 52 offices in 25 countries.

In 2011, the financial result for Blue Water Holding A/S was a profit of DKK 75 million (EUR 10 million) before tax and a turnover of DKK 3.5 billion (EUR 470 million).

As per 31.12.2011, the equity capital amounts to DKK 170 million (EUR 22.8 million).

2012

Personally, I hope that 2012 will bring a quieter and more stable life. Many of you may have noticed an advertisement in the daily papers mentioning that I will withdraw from my post as Managing Director and continue as Executive Chairman. My wife, Gyrithe, who is also the editor of Blue Water News through all the years, has decided to go into early retirement as from 1 May, and we therefore expect to gear a bit down.

However, I expect to go on for many years, but will now concentrate on business development, client relations and networking, which I still think are incre-dibly interesting.

I will now leave the daily operation to others, who can probably do it better than me.

Exciting Promotion in Australia More than 50 Danish companies participated in the largest Danish sales promotion ever in Australia. The official title was ”State of Green - Join the Future - Think Denmark”, i.e. focus on Danish companies’ significant skills in clean energy, smart cities and food activity/meat technology during the promotion in Sydney and Melbourne from 20 - 24 November, where our newly appointed Minister of Commerce and Investment, Pia Olsen Dyhr, made her successful début.

Blue Water Shipping participated on the basis of our large expertise and activities within the clean energy group together with companies such as Vestas, Siemens, Suzlon/Repower, Danfoss and Grundfos.

The efforts were spearheaded by the extremely popular crown prince couple, who due to their background and position (Crown Princess Mary was born in Australia) attracted huge attention from the Australian media. The couple participated in seminars, luncheons, dinners and set aside time to visit the exhibition stands.

The crown prince couple provided invaluable advertising for the individual companies, and it was a very positive experience that the crown prince couple was genuinely interested in the promotion and at the same time took time to speak with each company at the exhibition.

During the promotion, business luncheons and dinners were arranged, where the Danish companies could meet up with invited guests and taste the Danish specialities conjured up by our famous countryman, Chef Rasmus Kofoed.

The Australian market for wind energy has become highly relevant to Blue Water

After the promotion, we seized the opportunity to take a holiday in Australia, which is an amazing country.

The chance of celebrating New Year’s Eve in the Opera House in Sydney we would not miss. And guess who we accidentally met? An old acquaintance, Managing Director of the shipping line J. Lauritzen, Torben Janholt and his wife Lizzie. It was indeed a fantastic experience!

Shipping, as the company recently received an order for the transport of 140 large Vestas wind turbines from Denmark to Macarthur in the South East of Australia.

The transport is carried out in cooperation

with the Australian company Noske Logistics, and the project itself is a joint venture between Vestas and Leighton which is the largest contracting company in Australia.

Macarthur Wind Farm Kurt Skov visited the wind farm in Macarthur together with Tony Noske, owner of Noske Logisics, which handles the important land transport from the port in Portland to the wind farm - or more precisely the construction site where the wind farm is going to be erected.

The first wind turbines arrived safely and as planned from Denmark to Portland for further transportation to Macarthur in the middle of November. A couple of the turbines had been erected for the visit of

Crown Prince Frederik and Ditlev Engel, CEO of Vestas, together with Minister of Commerce and Investment Pia Olsen Dyhr, the same morning as we were there. After the promotion in Melbourne, the small delegation also seized the opportunity to have a closer look at the future wind farm.

The subsequent wind turbine shipments have taken place during the winter and spring, and the last shipment is expected to be delivered in the middle of 2012.

Blue Water Shipping opens New Office in Rødby on Falster Blue Water Shipping opens its 14th Danish office. This time, Blue Water Shipping establishes an office with primary focus on transport and logistic solutions for port related activities and project transports.

It is the intention that the office in Rødby shall ensure roots in the local community on Lolland-Falster as well as create cooperation related to e.g. the construction of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link and additional, large construction work which is in the pipeline in this area. ”We estimate that our expertise within this type of transport and logistics assignments will contribute in a positive way to the local and regional development on and around Lolland. The Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link is a monumental infrastructure project with a significant number of direct and derived activities which will have a massive impact on local and national business”, says Kurt Skov, Managing Director of Blue Water.

The office in Rødby, located in Højbygaard Papirfabrik (paper mill) at the address of Fabriksvej 2, Holeby, will be affiliated to Blue Water’s office in Copenhagen. The Rødby office will be managed

by Lars Tue Toftild, General Manager of Blue Water Copenhagen, and staffed in

accordance with the increase in activities. In addition to the focus areas of port agency and project transports, the office will offer its clients the entire range of transport products provided by Blue Water.

Simultaneously, Blue Water is a founding partner of a new consortium - Femern Belt Services A/S - a cooperation combining local expertise and international experience.

This consortium is also part of the newly established network, FB Suppliers, which through joint efforts aims to deliver services and products to contractors, suppliers and other operators involved in the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link construction.

Blue Water Reykjavik

On 1.12.11, Blue Water Shipping ehf, Iceland moved into new facilities in Reykjavik.

Blue Water’s activities are increasing in the Icelandic market. We arrange transport of large quantities of fish and other products from the whole of Iceland to the European market and the Far East. Northbound shipments include both project-related cargo and ordinary commodities.

The new office in Reykjavik will, along with the office in Seydisfjordur on the east coast of Iceland, mainly concentrate on developing our North Atlantic ro/ro service, on which the ro/pax ferry “Norröna” (capacity: 130 trailer units) is sailing between the ports of Seydisfjordur, Torshavn and Hirtshals with a service speed of 21 knots, making it the fastest North Atlantic freight service.

Furthermore the office will develop new activities within the fields of agency and total logistic solutions in connection with catches of frozen fish and shrimps from fishing vessels calling at Iceland.

Growing Pains in Herning

Since the opening of the office in September 2003, where a staff of 3 invaded Central Jutland, Blue Water Herning has experienced a fine and steady growth.

Today, we have a team of 15 employees and have outgrown the original office facilities on Taksvej 34.

On 19.3, Blue Water Herning moved into new facilities at the address of Baggeskærvej 60 – just opposite MCH Arena & Jyske Bank Boxen – a doubling of both office and warehouse capacity.

Blue Water Herning, which started as a service booking office for Blue Water’s worldwide traffics, has since the start expanded its activities to include service to/ from the Baltic states, Ukraine and Russia, courier and parcel service, special and urgent transport as well as handling and sorting of kitchen tabletops.

Handling of Tabletops Over the years, Blue Water Herning has delivered thousands of kitchens to many Kvik customers abroad.

A normal delivery consists of corpus (cabinets, doors etc.) from Kvik A/S, Vildbjerg and kitchen tabletops from Kvik’s supplier (and sister company) DFI-Geisler, Nykøbing Mors, to be delivered collectively to Kvik’s kitchen centres in for instance Norway, Finland and Spain.

Collection, sorting and packing of the tabletops have always been outsourced to external sub-suppliers. Last autumn, however, Kvik and Blue Water decided that it was time to further cement our long-time cooperation, resulting in Blue Water taking over the total operation as from early November 2011.

This means significant improvements in terms of communication, fewer mistakes and damages to the delight of Kvik, their kitchen centres and not least their many customers.

“We have noticed a significant improvement after Blue Water has taken over collection of the tabletops. This improvement means considerably fewer claims.

We can only be content that we reached an agreement with Blue Water that they should handle our tabletops in-house”, comments Bruno N. Meineche, freight forwarder at Kvik A/S.

Denmark’s largest Offshore Wind Farm The first sod for Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm – Anholt Vindpark - owned by DONG Energy, was cut on Friday 13.1. Blue Water was represented

by Frank Larsen/Blue Water Grenaa and Jacob Kjærgaard/Blue Water Esbjerg.

The opening address was given by Anders Eldrup, Managing Director of DONG Energy. He emphasized the significance that the largest offshore wind farm will have for Denmark, while stressing that the operators will be facing significant challenges during the future installation phases.

Following the speeches, a monopile (pile hammered into the bottom of the sea to create a foundation for the wind turbine) was shipped off to mark the start of construction. Unofficially, the first monopile was installed on 31 December last year, and a further 24 piles have been installed since then from the installation vessel ”Svanen”.

As a 24/7 one-point-contact for the project operators, Blue Water has many assignments waiting ahead. Blue Water has been busy with the project for a long time already, acting as port agent and local contact for the operators at Anholt Vindpark. This means having the responsibility to guide vessels, which require re-

pair, supply and stevedoring safely into port. ”In addition, we assist onshore staff with accommodation, office facilities and crew change”, says Frank Larsen from Blue Water Grenaa. ”This is a large and exciting assignment.

Blue Water has entered into an agency agreement with Visser & Smit Marine Contractors. The company performs cable laying at Anholt Offshore Wind Farm and has already wide experience in this type of assignment from Horns Rev II and London Array among other projects. In connection with the contract formation, the Project Manager of Visser & Smit, Emile van der Heide, paid a visit to Blue Water’s office in Grenaa.

London Array

On 25 December, the installation vessel, “MPI Discovery” arrived at the port of Esbjerg to load wind turbines for the world’s largest offshore wind farm - London Array.

The vessel is built to perform transport and erection of large offshore wind turbines at depths of up to 40 metres. The vessel’s crane can lift up to 1000 tons.

Blue Water is agent on behalf of MPI Offshore, and Blue Water is responsible for the loading of the wind turbines for Lon-

don Array - all together 175 turbines to be installed in the coming years. ”This is the vessel’s first assignment, and Esbjerg is the first port of call in relation to operation. We are proud to be part of this project, and the arrival of MPI Discovery marks a new era for the next generation of wind turbine installation vessels, which is now being built at shipyards all over the world”, says Klaus Odby Jensen from Blue Water’s agency department in Esbjerg.

We look forward to delivering high quality services and solutions as well as flexibility, so that we create the best possible conditions for our business partners in connection with the erection of the wind farm”, concludes Frank Larsen.

The foundation for the transformer station was towed by two Svitzer tugboats from Copenhagen to Grenaa, where it was in transit before departure to its offshore location. Total weight of the entire construction is 4000 tons, and the lifting operation was carried out by SAL’s vessel “Trina” with Blue Water Grenaa acting as port agent.

Hotel Ship for London Array

M/v “Sea Discoverer”, which is part of the Comfort at Sea fleet, has been chartered for the world’s largest, offshore wind project, the London Array. With its capacity of 294 persons, the ship will be serving as an offshore floating hotel for technicians and project management.

The m/v “Sea Discoverer”, which had just finished a charter for another offshore wind project, the Walney II, was delivered at Ramsgate in England on 27 February for subsequent sailing to the London Array offshore site. ”It is fantastic that the “Sea Discoverer” will be involved in London Array, a project in which Blue Water is already participating. We provide port agency services and stevedoring for the installation vessel in Esbjerg, and now also a hotel ship for the offshore site. Being part of the world’s largest offshore wind project is of extreme importance to us, and shows that our wide range of services ensures involvement on several fronts”, says Business Development Manager Jacob Kjærgaard, Blue Water Esbjerg.

Gulfood 2012 / Hakan Agro In connection with the annual Gulfood exhibition in Dubai - which again set a new record in number of exhibitors and visitors – we had the pleasure of inviting our very good customer, Hakan Agro, on a fishing trip in the Gulf.

Setting out in the early morning, we had a beautiful day with perfect weather, good food, cold drinks and not least

plenty of fish.

Ashley Bahceci won both the contest for catching most fish and catching the biggest fish – a one-metre barracuda.

During the day, we naturally talked about our growing cooperation and the great support from Hakan Agro, which so far peaked with bookings of 800 containers from the USA in March alone.

Far East Cargo Line Conference 2012 The annual conference of Far East Cargo Line was held in Hong Kong over four days in late January. Blue Water was represented by Jesper Hetebrügge Hansen, Stig Egelund, Harald Thun, Rocco van Horik and Janne Koivisto from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland respectively.

The conference is a fine opportunity to meet again with our Asian and European friends and partners, many of which have been members of the network for more than 10 years. In addition to the social aspect, the conference offers a number of one-to-one meetings with almost all partners in the East. During these meetings, the future strategy for development, sales and operation is decided.

At the conference, Blue Water was given the opportunity to introduce our new colleagues from Scandinavia. To end the FECL Conference, Cargo Services hosted the “Cargo Service Spring Dinner Party” at which more than 200 guests participated.

Large Crane Transport from the Far East to the Middle East In the autumn of 2011, Blue Water Shipping, Dubai was awarded a contract to ship two cranes from the Far East to Jebel Ali, UAE for our good customer Lamprell Energy Limited.

The cranes are to be installed on two wind turbine carriers (WTC) currently being built at Lamprell’s yard in Jebel Ali for subsequent delivery to Fred Olsen. The wind turbine carriers will be deployed in the North Sea for the installation of offshore wind turbines.

The contract covers the transport of 8 large crane components (maximum length is 92 metres) from the manufacturer’s yard in the Far East to Lamprell’s yard in Jebel Ali. Due to low draught and entry restrictions at the manufacturer’s facility, the units were loaded on self-pro-

pelled barges for transport to the commercial port of Shanghai in China, where they were transshipped on to heavy-lift vessels for onward transport to Jebel Ali. In Jebel Ali, Blue Water has also been contracted to receive the cargo on SPMT trailers for delivery to a temporary storage facility before the units will be assembled on the wind turbine carriers.

The assignment is being carried out in close cooperation between Lamprell, SBM Gusto and Blue Water’s offices in Shanghai, Dubai as well as our engineering department at Blue Water Esbjerg.

The first shipment has been delivered to Lamprell’s full satisfaction, and we look forward to completing the contract during the next couple of months.

Last Potatoes of the Season One of Northern Europe’s leading companies in the improvement, sale and production of seed potatoes and consumption potatoes, Danespo, recently visited Blue Water Shipping in Esbjerg.

The visit took place in connection with a board meeting, during which Blue Water enjoyed the privilege of presenting our new headquarters, and the Danespo board, headed by Managing Director Steen Bitsch and Chairman Truels Damsgaard (Managing Director of DLF Trifolium), had the opportunity to inspect Blue Water’s facilities in the port of Esbjerg, including Kartoffelpakhuset (potato storage) which is jointly owned by Danespo and Blue Water.

For many years now, Danespo has been a good client of Blue Water. During the season, we handle transports in connection with Danespo’s potato export to North Africa.

Every year from November to February,

Hectic activity in connection with loading of potatoes from Kartoffelpakhuset. around 20,000 tons of seed potatoes are shipped from Esbjerg, the port from which Blue Water arranges transport and handles warehouse storage as well as loading of potatoes on board conventional reefer ships. The final shipment of this season was shipped on board the ”Green Cooler” on 27.1 at 2030 hours.

Danespo was founded in 1986, and has a staff of 50 employees. The company exports seed and consumption potatoes to more than 30 countries.

The Danespo board visited Blue Water’s headquarters in Esbjerg, where they enjoyed the view of the port and activities.

Ministers visiting Peripheral Denmark Since the change of government in September, several new ministers have paid visits to Blue Water Esbjerg in order to have a closer look into this part of peripheral Denmark.

In November, the new Minister of Commerce and Investment, Pia Olsen Dyhr, visited Blue Water in connection with a presentation of Green Offshore Center, which took place at our new headquarters.

In February, the Minister of Transport, Henrik Dam Kristensen, dropped by to inspect the port and the many pertaining activities. Kurt Skov gave him a guided tour, briefed him about the local conditions and gave him a presentation of Blue Water.

We are always pleased with our politicians’ interest in the real world outside Christiansborg.

Noreco Offshore Base Contract In connection with Norwegian oil and gas company Noreco’s drilling project in the Danish North Sea sector, Blue Water Shipping has been awarded the offshore base contract in Esbjerg. ”We are currently performing all base activities, such as handling of equipment, storage of goods to and from the jack-up drilling rig “Maersk Resolve”, coordination of crew change with helicopter flights from Esbjerg Airport, and acting as port agents for the supply vessel m/v ”Edda Freya”, servicing the oil rig at the Luna-1 field with equipment and spare parts”, says Klaus Odby Jensen from Blue Water’s agency department.

Cruise Ships calling at Esbjerg Port of Esbjerg can again look forward to a number of calls from cruise ships this year – so far three ships have announced their visit. Blue Water is appointed port agent and Lehman Junior, Copenhagen will be acting as general agent.

It is not just the port of Esbjerg that is pleased with these calls, but also the city and the entire region. Ribe in particular may be a special attraction for lots of tourists.

Esbjerg is not a particular cruise destination compared to for instance Copenhagen. However, if we target our efforts towards attracting the interest of the cruise industry in our region, it may be of great importance to our local tourism.

On 8.2, the city of Esbjerg welcomed a Faroese delegation from Esbjerg’s friendship city Torshavn. The delegation was received at the town hall by Mayor Johnny Søtrup and the day’s programme also included a visit to Blue Water’s headquarters.

Increase in Food Export from the USA Blue Water’s US reefer team – headed by Lasse Petersen, who is in charge of transport of products originating from US or Canadian clients – is located in Port Everglades, Florida.

2011 turned out to be a massive year in terms of container volume, with more than 12,000 reefer units handled. A large increase in percentage compared to the year before.

Blue Water is a long-time member of USAPEEC – an association of US poultry exporters – and maintains a close relationship with this organisation, as frozen poultry makes up more than 80% of the total export. In addition to poultry, our Everglades team also arranges ship-

ment of frozen proteins, vegetables, dairy products and fruit.

The growth is the result of a targeted focus on more specialised staff, among others a full-time sales executive, Kim Thue Andersen, who moved from the head office in Esbjerg to Florida with his family last year.

We consider ourselves experts on shipment of food products into Africa and the Middle East and gladly assist with legalisation of documents.

Blue Water achieved its Global Volume Goal for Reefer Container Transport With a continued growth of almost 20% in volume, Blue Water managed in 2011 to ship in excess of 55,000 teus reefer containers with all kinds of food products, such as meat, poultry, fish and dairy products, in our global network.

The primary market for this volume is still Europe with a large export to China and the Far East in general. Through efficient key account agreements with various major shipping lines, however, we have a worldwide service to offer.

In particular West Africa imports large volumes of meat and poultry from the markets, in which we are strongly represented.

The export from South America, which is controlled by Blue Water Sao Paulo, continued making good headway last year.

The recent couple of years, we have also seen a very positive development within shipment of poultry from the USA. See also the above article.

In addition to containers, we are still, with a chartering team at our Brest office in France, experts in chartering of entire reefer vessels.

All together, it proves that our talent for being at the right place when the markets change, is the formula for a positive development of our overseas transport of food products and other temperature regulated articles.

Grand Visit in Houston

Blue Water Houston is a proud member of the Danish American Chamber of Commerce Southwest. In context of same, the chamber was honoured by a visit from the Consul General of Denmark and Ambassador Jarl Frijs-Madsen.

During the visit, Jarl Frijs-Madsen made a speech with focus on priorities for the Danish Presidency of the European Union, struggling with the financial crisis amongst the member countries. Furthermore he did touch on the priorities of the new Danish government with special emphasis on the commercial agenda for the world’s largest market - the US. In connection with the visit, Blue Water Houston had the honour of hosting a separate meeting, during which the Ambassador and Consul General, Mr Jarl Frijs-Madsen, the vice Consul in Houston, Mrs Anna Thomsen Holliday, and founding member and Vice-chairman of the Chamber, Mr Thomas Damsgaard, were given a presentation of Blue Water.

Urgent Transport from Australia In January 2012, Blue Water was contacted by one of our good clients in the oil and gas industry with a view to assist with an urgent transport of four tensioners for a drilling rig.

The items were to be reconditioned in Holland, upon which they would be delivered to the rig.

Due to the urgent nature of the assignment, sea transport all the way from Australia to Holland was not an option, nor

was ordinary air transport, as the units were too large to fit in an ordinary aircraft.

The solution was to ship the units by conventional sea transport from Port Hedland, Australia, to Singapore. In Singapore, the units were loaded on board three Boing 747 aircrafts with subsequent arrival in Holland on 23 and 24 January.

Blue Water’s project departments in Singapore, Denmark and Holland cooperated on this challenging transport.

Blue Water awarded another Wind Turbine Transport to Australia Blue Water has just commenced transport of 22 wind turbines to the Mumbida Wind Farm in Western Australia.

Leighton Contractors, one of the leading contracting companies in Australia, entrusted us with the contract, which is the first direct contact between Blue Water and Leighton Contractors.

During the Danish promotion tour to Australia in November, Kurt Skov established contact with a number of - potential as well as present - partners, including Leighton Contractors who has been involved in several wind turbine projects in Australia. Leighton is in charge of the installation of the Mumbida Wind Farm which is expected to be up and running in November 2012. The farm will provide electricity equivalent to the annual con-

sumption of 35,000 households.

The wind turbines are produced by GE (General Electric) and each has a capacity of 2.5 MW. The transport project includes two shipments of main components (nacelles and hubs) from Brake in Germany and two shipments of blades from Santos in Brazil to the port of Geraldton in Western Australia. From here, the wind turbines will be transported by road the short distance to the wind farm in Mumbida. Blue Water is responsible for the sea transport as well as for loading and discharging in all ports.

First shipment has taken place and Blue Water’s part in the project is expected to be completed this summer. Blue Water’s offices in Singapore, Esbjerg and Rio de Janeiro/Brazil are involved in the project.

Ship’s Agency Services in Brazil

On 12.2, Odfjell Drilling’s newly built drill ship “Deepsea Metro II” arrived in Rio de Janeiro for a three-year drilling campaign for Petrobras in ultra-deep waters off Aracaju, State of Sergipe in Northern Brazil. The vessel is designed for operations in water depths of up to 10,000 feet and incorporates state-ofthe-art technology for safe and efficient operations in ultra-deep waters.

Blue Water Rio is providing standby tugs, supply boats, crew boats, helicopter services, crew change, transport services to/ from the airports etc., rental of Nextel radios, local purchases, shipyard services, like steel work and manufacturing of structures, and last but not least aerial photography services.

“We are pleased with the cooperation with Oddfjell Drilling’s team in Rio de Janeiro headed by Tiago Leau, who has entrusted us with this assignment”, says Erwin Brockmann on behalf of Blue Water Rio de Janeiro.

This is a milestone for the Blue Water Group, which has become a key player in the oil & gas sector in Brazil, first through logistic activities for projects like the FPSO Cidade de Paraty and the P-61 Papa Terra and now offering ship’s agency services to the industry.

Cable Reels to China

Land Rig and Equipment to Argentina

where we were responsible for the transport of four large cable reels from Brøndby to China.

As the reel diameter exceeded 10 metres, Blue Water’s projects department in Esbjerg chartered a heavy-lift vessel from BBC Chartering.

All four reels as well as additional equipment were loaded below deck on BBC’s m/v ”Nile” with the assistance of the vessel’s own cranes, each having a lifting capacity of 250 metric tons.

The reels were loaded from the factory of NKT Flexibles in Kalundborg on 23.11.11, and arrived according to schedule in the port of Zhanjiang Nanyou in China.

Blue Water Manchester has handled the transport and shipment of a R625 land rig from UK to Argentina. Our client, Soilmec Ltd., needed the machine (weight: 64 tons/dimensions: 18 x 3.5 x 3 m) transported from their premises in Oundle, UK to Zarate, Argentina.

The rig went by road to Tilbury Docks for shipment on ro-ro vessel to Zarate, Argentina. The transport also included 3 containers of ancillary equipment.

Blue Water Copenhagen has since 2007 built a very fine cooperation, covering ordinary goods, with our good client NKT Flexibles in Brøndby. The cooperation has gradually increased to include road traffic to/from England as well as transport of test pipes by standard and extension trailers to/from Norway and France. Subsequently, the cooperation has stood the test through a project transport from Prerov in the Czech Republic to Kalundborg, Denmark.

In early 2011, we were entrusted with the transportation of an annual volume of 3800 tons from Germany to Kalundborg and various ad hoc shipments.

Since the middle of 2011, we have been involved in a large project to China,

Transport of Boiler Panels to Spain Blue Water’s project department recently completed a transport of four large boiler panels from China to Spain, having the overall responsibility for the transport from manufacturer to the solar energy facility in Seville, Spain.

The assignment included a combined road and barge transport from the Chinese factory to the port of Shanghai. At Shengdong Terminal in Shanghai, the

cargo was loaded on an A.P. Moeller Maersk ship as break-bulk cargo.

Upon arrival at the port in Valencia, two mobile cranes transferred the cargo directly to a heavy load trailer, which was used for the subsequent transport to the solar energy facility.

Logistics were coordinated by Blue Water’s departments in Shanghai, Esbjerg and La Coruna.

Blade Convoy in Portugal

18 trucks, each loaded with a single, 45 metre long, wind turbine blade - this was the special sight that road users in the area of Aveiro in Portugal were met with.

The 18 trucks were driving in convoy from the manufacturing plant to the port of Aveiro, an assignment handled flawlessly by the appointed freight forwarder, Blue Water.

The blades were shipped to the port of Antwerp in Belgium for reloading and oncarriage to the final destination in France.

The assignment was a joint operation between Blue Water’s offices in La Coruña, Spain and Esbjerg, Denmark.

“Tour de France” - Offshore Wind Turbines In week 5, Blue Water went on a promotion tour to ports in France to investigate the possibilities in connection with future French offshore wind projects.

Blue Water was represented by Søren Stougaard and Jacob Kjærgaard from Blue Water Esbjerg and Mogens Nielsen and Marianne Girardin from Blue Water Brest ”We were warmly welcomed by the ports and their representatives, and there is no doubt that the French ports are well organised and ready to meet the challenges that they will face from 2016 in regards to the first five offshore wind projects. But it is also clear that Blue Water, with our experience from wind projects in other countries, have plenty to offer”, says Business Development Manager, Jacob Kjærgaard. We are now going to evaluate the impressions that we have received and plan next steps for our set-up in France.

Blue Water Brest was invited to the 10th anniversary party of our long-time client, potato exporter Germicopa, at their club “Les Tocqués de la pomme de terre” (for the promotion of the potato).

Every year, Germicopa gathers customers and business relations – among others Blue Water and the company’s stevedore partner ADS – together with some French

chefs who are interested in the potato and commit themselves to the regular promotion of this excellent product.

This year’s party was held at a very wellknown and fancy pub in Brest, “Le tour du Monde”. In keeping with tradition, the exact address of the party was kept secret until the very last moment.

New Border Inspection Post in Brest

The establishment of a new Sanitary Border Inspection Post (in French PIF) is good news in the port of Brest.

This new initiative is a great advantage for the port and for Blue Water, as the import of reefer goods, being directly discharged in Brest, has been one of the main developments and a great success for our office during the recent two years. In 2011, the office has handled weekly importaion of 20’ and 40’ containers with frozen fish for processing in West Brittany.

It is now possible to arrange sanitary inspection of the containers within few hours after discharge from the feeder vessel.

This applies to all kinds of food products – frozen, fresh as well as canned food – which was not possible before.

Three main worldwide container carriers are calling at Brest every week with their own feeder service and Blue Water Brest expects therefore a continued growth in import traffic.

Installation of Large Storage Tanks The company Air Liquide is currently constructing two identical APSA Nitrogen Plants in Kalundborg, Denmark and Helsingborg, Sweden respectively.

Blue Water’s project department in Esbjerg handled logistics in connection with delivery of various components from a number of suppliers in Europe. The transport covered small as well as large units – by sea and by special road transport.

Last shipment for the plant in Kalundborg was a storage tank weighing 75 tons. Blue Water chartered the coaster

m/v “Amke”, which departed Istanbul on 30.12.11 with arrival at Kalundborg on 15.1.12. Upon arrival to the port in Denmark, Blue Water handled the transport to site, including the positioning of the tank onto its foundation, using two mobile cranes.

In February, an identical tank was shipped to Helsingborg in Sweden.

Air Liquide Danmark is part of the Air Liquide Group, a global company in the gas industry with activities in 80 countries.

Project Transport for CHP plant Blue Water Shipping has recently performed a project transport of oversized cargo for a combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Sweden.

The transport included a so-called ”DynaGrate B3600” measuring 10x5 metres and weighing 48 tons. The oversized cargo was loaded on six trailers at Babcock Vilcox Vølund in Esbjerg, Denmark, in connection with the company’s project for expansion of the incineration CHP plant at Lidköping Värmeverk AB in Sweden.

The assignment was handled using open and low loader trailers and executed according to plan with delivery deadlines being observed to everyone’s satisfaction.

MacArtney Winner of Esbjerg Business Award 2012 The annual New Year’s Reception, held in Musikhuset (Esbjerg Musical Theatre), is always an attraction for people of the trade and industry in Esbjerg. This is where they meet and wish each other Happy New Year and have a chat about the local events of the year. The programme also includes the chairman, John Lesbo’s, summary of initiatives and development.

However, what most guests look forward to is the nomination of the winner of the business development award, which is kept secret until the last minute.

This year, we were in particular pleased, as the prize winner was one of our very old clients and supporters through their 34 years of existence – MacArtney.

MacArtney was established in the suburb of Esbjerg, Hjerting, when Winnie and Mac started their business in their living room followed by a number of years at the address of Hjerting Byvej until they built their domicile at Gl. Guldagervej where the company continues expanding.

The company employs 250 people in Denmark, Norway, UK, USA, France, Holland, Germany, Brazil and Bahrain and has been growing constantly ever since the start.

sing new business opportunities, said Niels Erik Hedager, the Managing Director of MacArtney, in his speech of thanks.

Wave technology for instance is an area on which the company places great expectations.

Looking back from a nostalgic angle, we must admit that there are many ways to start a business relationship. In this particular case, two busy mothers met every day to collect their little ones at the daycare while their, maybe even busier, husbands were building up their respective businesses.

The two little ones – Marco and Anne – are now busy in their jobs; Marco in MacArtney’s sales department and Anne in Blue Water’s oil & energy department.

The grandmothers of their little ones still meet – to collect their grandchildren from gymnastics, swimming lessons, football, kindergarten etc. – but most often just to enjoy each other’s company.

Congratulations on the award – it is wholly deserved. It is just sad that Mac did not live to see it happen. Mac died 10 years ago.

Winter is the Time for Maintenance, Repair and Refurbishment of Vessels

Between Christmas and New Year, Smyril Line’s ferry “Norröna” was docked at Lindø.

Construction of Blue Water’s new facilities in Aalborg is now completed – actually one month ahead of schedule. The office capacity has increased manifold and at the time of writing, we are settling in. We are emptying removal boxes and arranging furniture and screens and cleaning up. Even at the warehouse, we see small improvements.

We enjoy our new magnificent view – two steps and our feet will get wet.

On Rømø, we were agents for the offshore vessel, m/v “Vos Satisfaction”, when she – after operation in Danish waters – was refurbished for new assignments.

Multiport is the world’s biggest association of well-reputed and independent shipping agents. Blue Water is a longtime representative for this network in Greenland – Nuuk, Sisimiut and Ilulissat.

Recently, the possibility of taking over the agency in Denmark offered itself, and Blue Water has now been appointed agent for the whole of Denmark, meaning that we cover all Danish ports. The network was established in 1978, and has increased to include 110 members in 2012 covering 108 countries including approx. 1200 ports.

Blue Water awarded Prize for HSE Plan Blue Water took home the honour when DONG Energy E & P (Exploration & Production), for the seventh year running, held their Suppliers Day. In February, around 150 people were assembled for this event in Copenhagen to discuss safety challenges of the oil and gas industry. Jesper Nørrelund, Vice President of DONG E&P, comments on the conference: “DONG E&P’s success depends on our suppliers’ expertise and the safety and quality they are able to supply. A common understanding of our roles and responsibility is a precondition for efficient operation and a workplace without accidents”.

Jesper Nørrelund pointed out that safety is not a competition. The important thing is to jointly improve processes and performance through an open and honest dialogue.

In keeping with tradition, the suppliers were asked to bring along and present their companies’ HSE plans at the Suppliers Day. And this was where Blue Water won the prize for the most promising and interesting HSE improvement plan for next year.

“We enjoy taking part in this conference

and meeting business colleagues. We are also here to take inspiration with us home to reflect on and act upon”, explains Kim Beier, HSEQ Manager at Blue Water.

He stressed the fact that since the establishment of Blue Water Shipping 40 years ago, safety has been a focus area for the company.

DONG Energy is one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe with headquarters in Denmark. The business foundation is to procure, produce, distribute, handle and sell energy and appertaining products in Northern Europe.

Blue Water Grenaa arranged clearance of the world’s largest OSV (Offshore Service Vessel) “North Sea Giant” in Frederikshavn, where she is being renovated at Orskov Yard before going on a new charter in the middle of March.

Blue Water Manchester was asked, by one of their good clients, Premier Nutrition in Rugeley, to donate something for a charity event in memory of their friend Andy Arrowsmith, who recently passed away, due to cancer, at the age of 42. Blue Water donated a signed Wayne Rooney England shirt, which raised £500 at the auction.

Blue Water awarded Environmental Diploma For the third time, Blue Water has received a diploma from Miljønetværk Syd (Environmental Network South). The diploma is awarded to companies, making a serious effort in respect of environmental issues.

Blue Water has received the diploma in recognition of the significant work performed in connection with environmental reporting.

Miljønetværk Syd is a network between companies, institutions and the city councils of Billund, Esbjerg, Fanø, Varde and Vejen as well as other stakeholders on environmental issues.

The network is an initiator of different projects and activities, strengthening the environmental efforts of companies and authorities.

Among other purposes, the network acts as a link between environmental and business promotion for the benefit of the environment and competitiveness of businesses as well as creating a forum for the exchange of experience and introduction of new initiatives.

Blue Water Holland participating in Show Jumping On Friday 24.2, Blue Water Rotterdam was once again invited by their long-time client, Mondial Foods, for the annual “Bathmen te paard” (Bathmen on horseback).

Mondial Foods has its head office in the village called Bathmen and is head sponsor for the local annual show jumping event.

Several Blue Water offices all over the world enjoy a good client relationship with Mondial Foods – mainly Blue Water Holland, but also Spain, Brazil, USA and Denmark.

In addition to the head office in Holland, Mondial Foods is also represented in Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.

Introduction to Finnish Culture In early February, Blue Water Helsinki had the pleasure of a visit from their Danish colleagues –Henrik Madsen and Poul Aarre from Blue Water Aarhus and Carsten Eskildsen from Blue Water Esbjerg. As it was Carsten’s first time in Finland, our Finnish colleagues wanted to arrange something memorable.

Before dinner, they introduced the Danes to a really old Finnish tradition; smoke sauna and ice swimming. The tradition is still upheld and is a substantial part of Finnish culture, explains Janne Koivisto from Blue Water Helsinki. The sauna is almost a holy place for the Finns, and a place to relax with friends and family – both mentally and physically. The Finns like to share the experience, and foreign visitors to Finland are often invited into the sauna. The Danish Blue Water colleagues proved to be real Vikings. 20 degrees below zero is rather cold, even for our Finnish colleagues, who promoted their guests “Polar Bear Stars”.

International Match at Blue Water Arena - 15.11.2012 A few years ago, EFB (Esbjerg Football Club) hosted a successful international football match between Denmark and South Korea. In the middle of November, EFB was pleased with another chance of hosting a test match against Finland.

Blue Water used the test match as an opportunity to invite local football enthusiastic clients to a meal at Trafikhavnskaj 9 before the match at Blue Water Arena.

By the way, the match ended 2-1 to Denmark.

Blue Water Florida – Company Excursion

Our colleagues in Florida have been on their first joint company excursion. The Ft. Lauderdale team met with their colleagues from Miami in our new Miami warehouse an early Saturday morning.

Off they went on a bus ride into Florida’s Everglades National Park. Here they enjoyed the Wild Hog Bar B Que. After that they drove through the swamp on special swamp buggies followed by a skeet shooting event and then onto a wild life show featuring small baby alligators and snakes. On the way back to Miami, they made a stop at a real Miccosukee Indian Camp, where they sat around the camp listening intently to the Indian guide tel-ling about the old ways of life in the Everglades.

Blue Water Brazil – Company Excursion During the weekend 26-27 November, our two Brazilian offices in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo went to the beautiful old town of Paraty for their annual company excursion. Blue Water Rio had decided the destination, which reminds them of their first real big project – PFSO “Cidade de Paraty” for SBM. A real teambuilding weekend, in which 27 colleagues participated and had a great time together. The programme also included a boat trip around the beautiful island, sightseeing and of course delicious food.

Yet another Forwarders’ Cup, with proud traditions and 30 participating teams divided into three series, was held at the EFI Sports Centre in Esbjerg on Saturday 3.3.

Once again, Blue Water was amply represented with four participating teams in the men’s series as well as one old boys and one mixed team. As far as prizes are concerned, Blue Water had taken home the majority when the tournament ended Saturday afternoon; a runaway victory to our experienced old boys’ team, one first place in the men’s series and a third place in the mixed series. It was an exciting and fun day which finished with a festive evening in the lounge at Blue Water Arena.

The game took place in the top sport building of Rotterdam next to the Feyenoord Kuip. The game started with Cosco scoring their first and only goal before Blue Water’s team teached them a lesson by scoring eight goals.

Jubilees 30 years On 12.5, Kim Beier/Blue Water Esbjerg will be able to add to his comprehensive CV, 30 years of employment with Blue Water. Most people in Blue Water’s organisation know Kim from his previous involvement in our oil & energy and airfreight activities as well as from his postings in Norway, Greenland and Kazakhstan. Today, we know Kim as a fireball looking after our HSSEQ activities. He is the one to be given main credit for Blue Water’s recognition as an innovative and professional partner when talking environment, safety and quality. In addition to his sense of humour and professional approach to the assignments entrusted to him, Kim is a good colleague knowing how to spin a yarn and ready to entertain spontaneously when an opportunity arises.

30 years ago (on 2.8,82), when he was still a boy with dark hair, Jan Strandberg Vesterbæk started at Blue Water’s warehouse in Esbjerg. Good old Jan is a popular colleague and now our shop steward with white/grey hair. Generally speaking, Jan has spent every Friday at Blue Water’s groupage warehouse in Esbjerg, always capable of loading 15-18 ldm of goods onto a truck bed with a capacity of only 13.60 ldm. Our forwarders can always rely on him when they are in need of space.

Jan does not always look before he leaps, which is not always good – however, things always work out well in the end due to his experience and creative way of thinking.

Jan’s favourite word is “OOPS” . Lots of situations end with an “OOPS” – and “WHAT ARE YOU DOING”.

Among funny incidents, Jan’s colleagues remember one Friday evening at gate 1. Jan would scare a couple of his colleagues, who were standing, talking to each other, and jumped on top of an inflated airbag believing it would burst. The only one getting scared was Jan, when he fell down on his ass – OOPS! On 2.8, Mogens Nielsen from Blue Water France will be celebrating yet another jubilee with Blue Water.

Believe it or not, this young-looking chap will soon reach the age of half a century!

Maybe having small children (little Emil aged one and a half) and a young wife – or maybe Mogens’s many trips to Brazil during the recent 13 years – helps him stay young – or is the mild climate of Brittany the formula for eternal youth?

Perhaps the answer is ice hockey, which he - after seven years of practice - is now

allowed to play with a team of former professionals?

Challenges have been plentiful since Mogens, at 19, started as trainee in Esbjerg back in 1982. After detours to Copenhagen and Manchester, France has been his permanent base for many years.

Here Mogens is responsible for our two branch offices as well as our South American branches in Sao Paulo and Rio, Brazil.

We wonder whether he has become a real Frenchman now that he has lived most of his life in France?

Silver On 1.8, Dan Nissen will be reaching a landmark in his career with Blue Water – his silver jubilee. Dan is a company man through and through, having received his entire “upbringing”, or lack of same, within the Blue Water organisation.

From the very start, Dan was involved in ship’s activities – initially, in our agency department and later on, as part of the Lauritzen Reefer team. Those days are gone, but the reefer activities still remain part of Dan’s working day. He is now globally responsible for many departments/branches, the core activity of which is transport of food products. On top of this comes the divisions servicing the oil and energy sector and in recent years, the cruise industry as well. These are important niche activities completing the picture. Dan is responsible for 23 offices in 15 countries. As one of his close colleagues very sweetly puts it: Dan has indeed managed to prick up his ears :o) He is quick at making an observation and passing a remark. He has a positive approach to things in general and is always attentive towards the situation of his colleagues and staff.

Dan is married to Charlotte. To be honest, we think she is controlling him, as she is the one packing his suitcase, when he is travelling, and rumours have it that she is also handling his travel expenses. She is not a financial counselor for nothing!

20 years Eliane Plouzané-Hénault will be celebrating her 20th jubilee with Blue Water Brest on 9.6. Eliane started at our Brest office in 1992, doing documentation in the agency department. The office at that time had only three employees. In such a small office it is important that the staff are willing to adapt, and in 1996, Eliane changed from agency to freight forwarding, where she, nowadays, can do everything from

the quotation up to the documentation.

Since the last department reorganisation, Eliane is in charge of the bookings and operations of the export reefer containers from France mainly to Africa and North America.

Privately, Eliane is married to Raoul and is the happy mother of Emily, 14 years old, and Julien, 10 years old. She likes attending her aerobics class once a week, but her favourite hobbies are dancing and singing. Eliane does not need any alcohol to become the one animating the parties, and she is very good at changing the lyrics of songs, much to the amusement of her friends and colleagues. She also attends weekly dance classes where she, with a couple of colleagues, learns salsa and twist.

Frank Madsen, Global Manager of our Reefer Division, based in Esbjerg, will be celebrating his 20th anniversary with Blue Water on 31.7. Having completed his apprenticeship in Esbjerg, Frank became part of the deep sea department and subsequently joined our sea freight team in Aarhus in 1996. This whetted his appetite, and in 1998 he moved on to Dubai, where he in the summer of 2001was appointed general manager.

In 2003, Frank returned to Esbjerg and was, during the coming years, responsible for different activities - including cross transport, transit business via USA, various major important clients - and for a period manager of the deep sea department, until he in 2008 was made globally responsible for the development of our reefer activities. Frank has, together with our general managers and activity managers throughout the world, developed and entrenched the activity to being an essential part in Blue Water’s corporate mission.

10 years On 1.5, Søren B. Jensen from Blue Water Aarhus will finally be able to celebrate his 10th anniversary in the domestic department. – with a delay of 5 years. Søren joined Blue Water from Schenker/Albert Nielsen in 1997, but subsequently decided to take up new challenges. After a year and a half, however, he returned to the paddock in 2002.

In 2009, our domestic department merged with our Finnish activities.

Søren is one of a kind, always positive, helpful and in a cheerful mood – a real team player and a thoroughly competent freight forwarder.

Jubilees badminton and cards. He is also active in the football club when parties or other events need to be arranged for the benefit of the younger club members.

Søren has two “almost” grown-up daughters, Camilla and Cathrine, who are an important part of Søren’s life.

On 3.6, Victor Sapp from Blue Water New York will be celebrating ten years of service with Blue Water. Before joining Blue Water, Victor – who is originally from Austria – was employed at our then agent for reefer transport, MFA in New York. As our business increased, we – MFA, Victor and Blue Water - jointly agreed that Blue Water should take over the business. Victor has since then been involved in our reefer activities in the USA as well as quite a few other activities. Victor and the New York office primarily concentrate on our contract with Danish Defence covering transports between Denmark and North America. Additionally, Victor is responsible for the administrative coordination of our four US locations in close cooperation with the accounting department in Esbjerg.

Poul Strandberg Jacobsen will be celebrating his 10th anniversary with Blue Water Esbjerg on 17.6. Poul started at our external warehouse, at the former Colorlux premises, handling Kjeldberg furniture. When this activity seized to exist, Poul moved to his present location at the port area, where he performs minor jobs on his own – always on time, fast and efficiently.

Poul is always a permanent part of the gang handling potatoes in gate 9 and 10 during the season from November to January. However, last season Poul was engaged to the Vestas activity at Blue Water’s warehouse no. 1. In addition, he is performing the function of substitute at MI on a permanent basis.

Nothing really, can make Poul lose his temper. He is happy as long as he can spend a couple of weeks under southern skies every year. He is indeed popular among his colleagues in the port of Esbjerg.

On 1.7, it will be Morten Nygaard’s (Blue Water Kolding) turn to celebrate his 10th anniversary.

In 2002, Morten started as trainee in the German department at Blue Water Odense. The fact that he could not speak German was no hindrance, as an intensive German course rectified his lack of linguistic skills.

Having completed his apprenticeship, Morten was transferred to Dublin and later on to Ipswich. In December 2005, Morten returned to Blue Water Odense and con16

tinued dealing with European road transport until he was given the opportunity of another posting in Dublin. This time he stayed in Ireland for about 9 months before he returned back home to Denmark.

Blue Water Kolding has benefitted from Morten’s skills since December 2009, and he is primarily involved in groupage to/ from Germany in our ILN network – together with Susanne Kyrstein. The two of them were also partners when they both worked at our Odense office.

In private life, Morten’s partner is Maria and they live in Odense and are to be married in May. The girls at the office envy Maria the romantic trips, that Morten arranges for her. However, his colleagues do in fact also benefit from his planning abilities in connection with “young parties” for everybody under the age of 30 at the Kolding office.

Morten is interested in sports and keeps fit.

He spends a lot of time in Odense Boxing club, only training – fortunately he never enters the ring. Furthermore Morten goes in for jogging to keep his weight down, leaving room for a biscuit or two.

On 1.8, Bjarke Riber Nielsen, from our Singapore office, will be celebrating his 10th anniversary. Bjarke is a real country boy, from a small place called Vesterbæk, and not afraid of hard work. This is a good quality when being employed as a Blue Water trainee. Even at that time, Bjarke focused his interest on ships and ports and was, as part of our agency team in Esbjerg, involved in ship’s clearance and often paying visits to the ships in port.

For a period, refurbishment of oil rigs took up a large part of Bjarke’s time as well.

Along the way, Bjarke has also become acquainted with chartering before he was transferred to a job in the operations department at our Singapore office.

Bjarne has become an important part of our project team and satisfies his desire for travelling when he follows projects in China, South East Asia and Australia.

Here, he has attended a number of large oil, gas and wind related projects of which our Singapore office is in charge.

Another 10th anniversary will take place on 1.8. as Lars V Sørensen has formed part of our team in Copenhagen since 2002.

Lars originally started as trainee in the department for Scandinavian road traffic and continued to our continental department where he remained for a period after his apprenticeship. Later on, Lars took up new challenges within sea and airfreight to/ from the North Atlantic region and was for a number of years manager for the North

Atlantic/Smyril team. Today Lars is part of the team looking after major clients and is operational responsible for FLS and MT Højgaard among others.

Over the years, Lars has contributed to raising any party to a high level – as very active on the dance floor, as bartender or as DJ Vajse – also known from recent years’ Freight Forwarders’ Cup. Lars lives with Katrin and they have just recently become parents of little baby “Don Vajse”. The family also includes six-year-old Isabell.

Per Holm will be celebrating his 10th anniversary with Blue Water Aarhus on 1.8.

Back in 2002, Per was appointed manager of the Norwegian department. Per has changed directions since then and is today business development manager on Norway and key account salesman. He has a very long and wide experience in transport to and from Norway from his past career in similar positions with Kuehne & Nagel and Schenker respectively. Per has always been fascinated by the office environment and has therefore for many years been a member of our safety organisation as employee representative. Per is very popular among our clients as well as among his colleagues for his quiet manner and allround knowledge of transport solutions, and knows the Norwegian geography better than the Norwegians themselves.

Per is very interested in sports, both as an active athlete and as coach, and has for many years played football in Hedensted IF (football club) where he is also a committee member. Per and his family - Lene, Steffen and Pernille - usually spend their holidays sunbathing under southern skies or they go skiing Thomas Geilman from Blue Water Aarhus will be celebrating his 10th anniversary on 15.8. After a few years with Nordisk Express in Oslo, Thomas planned to return to Denmark with his family in the summer of 2002. In August 2002, he started in the Norwegian department of Unifeeder Forwarding, Aarhus as freight forwarder.

On 1.4.2008, however, all activities of Unifeeder Forwarding were taken over by Blue Water and Thomas became part of Blue Water’s Norwegian team in Aarhus.

Thomas is the epitome of a professional freight forwarder, who manages a big fleet of trucks with a heavy hand, is capable of making difficult decisions and shows never-failing great business talent.

Thomas’ spare time is dedicated to football (Aston Villa is his favourite team) and music from the eighties, where Sabrina is his icon.

New Employees Aalborg 25-year-old Carina Klitgaard Bruun has been helping out in our deep sea department since 15.11, but will start her apprenticeship as from 1.8.

Aarhus 22-year old Alan Djozic has been assisting the local customer department since 2.1. Alan comes straight from school and will start his apprenticeship this summer.

Jeppe Rind Stentoft – 29 years old – joined our sales team on 1.2. Jeppe has worked for DHL Express since 2007 – and the recent 2 years as salesman in courier services.

Since 15.2.2011, 30year-old Christel Bach Friis has covered a maternity leave in the Norwegian department, where she has now settled in and become a permanent part as from 15.3. Christel served her apprenticeship with Frode Laursen involved in shipping and documentation.

Esbjerg Niels Feldborg Nielsen – 50 years old – joined our UK/Ireland department on 1.12.11. Niels served his apprenticeship with A/S J. Lauritzens Eftf. where he was employed for many years. Subsequently he was employed with Roland Munch A/S and since 2001 with Leman – most recently at their Taulov office.

We have taken on 28year-old Sara Rasmussen as accounting assistant in accounts payable as from 1.12.11. Sara served her apprenticeship with Slagter Theilgaard A/S and has furthermore worked as accountant at HTH Køkkener in Ølgod.

Birgitte Krongaard Thomsen – 26 years old – started as assistant in our parcel department on 1.12.11. Birgitte’s previous employments include a job as supervision assistant at Danish Crown.

31-year-old Stine Schmidt joined our parcel department as freight forwarder on 1.12.11. Stine is dealing with the French market and was previously involved in the Italian market with Kurt Beier.

Since the start of the year, 43-year-old May-Brit Christensen is employed as HR assistant. MayBrit comes from a job as course administrator at Esbjerg Højskole (college) working in close contact with the staff and clients of the college.

As from 2.1, 27-year-old Anders Maul is employed as freight forwarder in our oil and energy department. Anders served his apprenticeship with A/S J. Lauritzens Eftf. and was most recently employed in the project department of C. Breinholt.

Nicklas Lund – 24 year old – is assisting in our agency department since 2.1. Nicklas has done various jobs before he decided to try his fortune in shipping. We feel that he has now found his niche, and expect to take him on as trainee after the summer holiday.

34-year-old Robert Høgh joined our marketing department as graphic designer on 2.1. Robert comes from a similar job with Lokalavisen Budstikken (local weekly paper).

As from 1.2, we have taken on 41-year-old Trine Johannesen as receptionist. Trine received her office training at Esbjerg Højskole and comes from a job in their reception.

As from 1.2, 33-year-old Dorthe Brødbæk Andersen is employed as freight forwarder in our reefer department for road transport to Eastern Europe. Dorthe has worked for Andreas Andreasen, Padborg for the last 13 years.

37-year-old Mads Nørgaard Sørensen joined our IT operations department on 1.2. Mads was previously employed with GLS as technician.

Rune Dahl Nielsen – 41 years old - forms part of our project department for wind turbine transport as from 1.3. Rune comes from a job with DHL, Esbjerg, where he has been employed since 2005. Rune originally served his apprenticeship in the export department of Esbjerg Fiskeindustri, and has also been with Maersk Air as traffic assistant and 7 years with DFDS/ Ronald Munch as freight forwarder.

42-year-old Dan Dalby Overgaard started as terminal assistant on 13.3, and will mainly be involved in the “Neptun” project for Siemens. Dan used to work for LNT. As from 1.4, we have employed Dorte Mundt Andersen – 35 years old – as Group Quality and HSSE Manager (health, safety, security and environment) to look after our initiatives within this field supported by a new management system.

For the last one and a half years, Dorte has been working for Lloyds Register as HSE Manager for the Nordic region.

Dorthe has gathered experience; 3 years within the electronic business and 6 years in the wind energy industry with Vestas as HSE Manager. During her employment with Vestas, Dorte was stationed 2 years in China developing the local HSE organisation among other things.

As from 16.4, we have employed 36-year-old Trine Godt Christensen as team leader/controller in our finance department. As well as being team leader responsible for distribution of tasks, Trine will also take care of implementation of an internal control concept within the Blue Water Group.

Trine, who comes from a job as daily manager of a commercial undertaking, has an auditing background and is an MSc in Business Administration and Auditing.

New Employees Hirtshals 43-year-old Klaus Nielsen started as terminal assistant on 1.3.2011.

Klaus’ career includes 3 years of work on a drilling rig, 5 years as a building contractor and most recently as a driver with Scan Vogn, Tornby.

Claus Pilgaard – 39 years old – forms part of our terminal team since l.6.2011. Claus has previously worked as an export driver for 9 years and 4 years at a truck garage. Claus’ latest job was as dock labourer for Smyril Line and Fjord Line, Hanstholm.

Kolding On 12.3, Carsten Stampe – 46 years old – joined our team as sales representative for the Triangle Region and Southern Jutland. Carsten completed his apprenticeship with Holger Smidts Eftf., Padborg in 1989 and has subsequently been involved in freight forwarding and sales at Contino Shipping, Esbjerg, K.E.Christensen, Padborg, TNT Express, Kolding, 3pl, Kolding and Cargo Flex/DF, Aarhus. Carsten’s most recent employment was with MAN last/bus.

Copenhagen On 6.2, Claus Vikberg – 31 years old – is employed as freight forwarder in our sea freight department to strengthen and develop our Far East traffic. A job Claus is very well equipped for, as he in the past has lived and worked in Shanghai among other places. Claus’ latest employment was with DSV. Lindø 47-year-old Verner Trolle Hansen started as terminal assistant and blacksmith on 28.11.2011.

In the past, Verner has formed part of the maintenance department and worked as a pipe fitter at Lindø Shipyard.

Odense Anthony Vernon – 28 years old – joined our airfreight/courier department on 4.1. Anthony was born and bred in England and completed his apprenticeship with Geodis in Vejle.

Padborg As from 1.12.2011, Pia Bjerregaard – 49 years old – is employed as office clerk at the terminal and German department.

Pia used to work for N.E. Kock and HK Samuelson.

Aberdeen We have employed a new warehouseman, 62-yearold Henry Robertson, as from 4.1. Henry has a lot of warehouse experience and joins us from RA Executive Freight.

Bremen At the turn of the year, 42-year-old Jörn Grüner joined our team.

Although being based in the South of Germany, Jörn belongs to our Bremen team as sales manager focusing on global project transport for the German speaking countries. Jörn has experience within the transport business from his previous jobs with MSC Germany and Hanjin Shipping and joins us from Hercules Alliance, where he was responsible for project business development.

Brest We have taken on 24year-old Apolline Simeon as assistant in our deep sea department.

Apolline is a familiar face as she once had an internship at our office.

Doha 26-year-old Priya Darshina Sanjith has formed part of our team as accounts assistant since 16.1.2011. Priay has 5 years of work experience from similar jobs in India – the recent 2 years with Globalink WW, Mumbai.

Dubai Gopal Rawat – 31 years old – is employed as warehouseman as from 19.2.

Gopal has gathered work experience from his previous jobs in India, but this is his first job in Dubai.

Fort Lauderdale 28-year-old Joanne Cruz is employed as from 19.12.2011 to take care of accounting and administrative matters. Joanne has 6 years of experience from a similar job with P&R Canvas.

Helsinki Since 8.12.2011, 34year-old Piia Elina Purmonen performs the function of freight forwarder in our sea & airfreight department. Piia used to work for Itella Logistics and K&N as sea and air freight forwarder.

Another newcomer, 40year-old Pipsa Pietilä, joined our road traffic department on 16.1.

Pipsa’s latest employment was with Itella Logistics, and she has a long experience of road transportation planning.

Houston Anthony Mailloux – 28 years old – works as freight forwarder in our operations department since 2.11.2011. Anthony has experience from his previous jobs - most recently with Jarvis International.

25-year-old Kristian Bakke Nielsen joined our airfreight department on 2.1. Kristian has worked for Shipco in Houston for 3 years, and in Denmark he was previously employed with DHL Global Forwarding.

Jebel Ali Muhammad Rashid started as warehouseman on 11.12.2011. Muhammad was previously employed with a textile factory in Pakistan responsible for pick & pack claims.

Klang On 3.1, 35-year-old Adrian Loong joined our operations team as senior sales executive.

Adrian has 13 years of experience in operations – from Ben Line Agencies and Kerry Logistics among others.

New Employees Nuuk 29-year-old Hans Peter Lynge Eugenius – HP for short – started as warehouseman on 22.11.2011. Hans Peter has previously worked on board the training ship “Tugdlik”. He is already familiar with his new job as he has been working at our warehouse as a substitute during the summer holiday.

Since 1.1, 36-year-old Rasmus Ryvold forms part of our sea freight department. Rasmus joins us from a job as logistics assistant with Uni:IT. Oslo Sven Olsson – 45 years old – is appointed key account manager as from 1.2. Sven comes from a similar job with Grieg Panalpina.

On 1.2, 36-year-old Richard Finnerud joined our sea freight team.

Richard has experience from various shipping lines and freight forwarding companies.

Rio de Janeiro 34-year-old Janaina Gomes is employed in customer service since 10.10.2011.

Janaina has been working in the freight forwarding business for a few years, but has also been an English teacher.

Rotterdam On 1.11.2011, Erwin Schaap – 23-years old – started as trainee in our cruise logistics department, where he will learn all the facets of transport, shipping, customs handling, storage and airfreight. Erwin will be working at the office 4 days a week and one day studying at the Shipping and Transport College in Rotterdam.

We have taken on 40year-old Marco Burger as freight forwarder in reefer documentation. Marco has gathered transport and shipping experience from his previous jobs with HD Cotterell/Ocean Warehousing, CMA CGM Holland, Eimskip & Broekman Motorships. Furthermore Marco has been working 5 years with an insurance agency.

Staff Redeployment

At the turn of the year, 35-year-old Raimond Lodder joined our team as sales representative.

Raimond’s career includes jobs with Hapag (since 2003) and Wm H Muller & Co. Raimond will concentrate on dry cargo by sea, road and air and will occasionally assist with reefer sales.

Sao Paulo 20-year-old Caesar Augusto Santos is employed as trainee in our customer service department since 13.9.2011.

Caesar has previously worked for the Brazilian freight forwarding company Gate Express for approx.

2 years.

33-year-old Deborah Andrade joined our customer service team as assistant on 24.10.2011.

We know Deborah from her previous employment with one of our customers, slaughterhouse Nogueira Rivelli. Deborah’s latest employment was with Saint Gobain, where she was involved in import and export of raw materials.

Shanghai We have employed 27-year-old Dustin Wang as project supervisor. Dustin has three years of project experience - the recent two years with K & N, Shanghai.

Singapore On 21.11.2011, 27year-old Jian Shien joined our accounts department as accounts and administration assistant.

Jian has three years of accounting experience.

As from 9.1, we have employed Francis Yeo – 38 years old – as assistant project manager in our project forwarding department. Francis has 13 years of experience from his previous jobs with Danzas AEI, Schenker and DHL. Sisimiut As from 30.1, we have taken on 22-year-old Salik Schmidt as assistant.

Salik joins us from Hotel Arctic, Ilullisat, where he was a driver.

After a couple of years’ stationing in Greenland, Katrine Linnerup Kristensen has moved west to take up new challenges at Blue Water’s New York office as from 17.1.

Pia Laursen returned to Blue Water Copenhagen on 13.3 after six months with Blue Water Bremen. Pia will serve the remaining part of her apprenticeship in the department for airfreight to the North Atlantic region.

After a number of years’ stationing abroad, with Blue Water China and Qatar, Arne Iversen returns to Denmark and a job as short sea business development manager and salesman based in Esbjerg.

Lars Skov Christensen from the O&E department in Esbjerg will be transferred to Blue Water Singapore in April.

In the second half of 2011, Benjamin Heco made a cross trade analysis for Blue Water Aarhus. Benjamin used the analysis in his thesis at Aarhus Business College. In this connection, Benjamin spent a lot of time on a survey among our customers and business relations. Afterwards lots were drawn for 12 bottles of fine red wine among the returned questionnaires. The lucky winner was Carsten Mikkelsen from Frima Vafler A/S. Left to right: Benjamin Heco, Carsten Mikkelsen and Michael Møller/Blue Water Aarhus.

The editorial office is not closing down - but the Chief Editor, Gyrithe Skov, has decided to go into early retirement as from 1 May. Gyrithe has always been part of Blue Water. From the very start in 1972, she was standing on the sidelines, backing up Kurt when he as a young initiator started his business. Since 1983, Gyrithe has been working at Blue Water’s headquarters in Esbjerg on a permanent basis - as secretary, chief editor on Blue Water News, press release communicator, switchboard operator - pulling the many strings in a busy work day. Gyrithe is very committed and always in control of all details.

From now on, Gyrithe’s daily life will change,- and she - and not least her grandchildren, Victor and Frida - will fpr sure enjoy spending more time together.

We all hereby thank Gyrithe and wish her a happy and well-earned retirement.

On 3.11, Lars V. Sørensen (Blue Water Copenhagen) became a father of a baby boy, Nicolas (4 kgs/56 cm). The family also includes six-year-old Isabell.

Lars Tue Toftild’s (Blue Water Copenhagen) little son, Oscar (3.950 kgs/52 cm) saw the light of day on 16.12.11. Lars is already a father of twin boys aged 5.

Paul Cummins (Blue Water Dublin) became a father of a very little boy, James on 12.11.12. It was a bit of a surprise, as he was six weeks premature. Luckily James Michael Cummings has already put on a lot of weight.

On 17.11, Jonas Ahmed (Blue Water Odense) announced the birth of his son – a healthy and strong baby boy weighing 3 kgs and measuring 49 cm.

On 19.11.11, Thomas Bek (Blue Water Esbjerg) and his fiancée, Karina, increased their little family by a baby boy, Villum (3.9 kgs/53 cm), on 19.11.12, which made Emma a very proud big sister.

On 1.12.11, Mette Thomsen (account department, Esbjerg) gave birth to her third child – little Johanne (3.820 kgs/ 53 cm).

On 3.1, Jeremy Dijkman (Blue Water Rotterdam) became a father when his wife, Josefina, gave birth to a baby boy, Mathias (3.7 kgs/51 cm). The family also includes the proud big sister Lucia aged two and a half.

On 8.1, Malik Larsen (Blue Water Ilulissat) announced the birth of his little daughter weighing 3.5 kgs and measuring 51 cm.

On 30.1, Jesper Lisby (Blue Water Copenhagen) became a father, for the first time, of a baby boy, Emil (4.015 kgs/52 cm).

On 4.2, Janne Ekholm’s (Blue Water Gothenburg) son, William (3.940 kgs/52 cm), saw the light of day.

Rene Greulich’s (Blue Water Aarhus) little daughter (3 kgs/54 cm) was born on 12.2.

On 15.2, Anders Olsen (Blue Water Hirtshals) and his wife, Kristina, increased their little family by a baby boy (3.750 kgs/53 cm), who is going to be named Jeppe.

Signe (two years and four months old) enjoys being a big sister.

Our new colleague in the IT department, Mads Sørensen, became a father on 17.9 of a baby girl – Philippa (3.1 kgs/51 cm).

Jesper Skjoldborg Øraker from Blue Water Copenhagen married his girlfriend, Laura Jacobsen, in Roskilde Cathedral on 17.9. Laura has now added Øraker to her family name.
