20 COMPLIMENTARY DESIGNS

in this issue’s... HE T ON VER! CO

Hi Crafters, Hope you all enjoyed the return of the Tattered Lace magazine. It was great to hear how excited you all were to start receiving it again and we’ve loved seeing some of the projects you’ve been making! Keep them coming! On to this month’s issue, well it’s been all about the celebrating lately her in the office and in the country with the Queen’s jubilee so that was what inspired the SVG files for issue 18. We have everything from bunting to balloons, champagne to tiaras and horseshoes to florals! Again, everything is exclusively designed for you and to complement eachother to work perfectly together in your projects. We also have a great little sentiment set to just add that finishing touch! Your exclusive SVG this month is the gorgeous Honey Jar and honeycomb stencil. I love it, I think it might be my favourite one yet! I’m a little obsessed with bees! The cards Vikki has created are so cute and fun, they would make some lovely birthday cards. And the honeycomb stencil just works perfectly with it! She’s also given us a great tutorial on how she created a background for one of her cards using a gelli plate, have a go at that! I had a lot of fun designing the backing papers for you this month, I just love the colours and the patterns. So summery and bright to go along with some of this lovely weather we have been having recently! Happy crafting!

---------------------- HOW TO - CARD SHAPES WITH DEAREST DOILY & TAG-A-LONG -------------------------

These card shapes can either be created in the same way as we have with the dies (cutting multiple and gluing together) or created using the SVG files and with features of your cutting machine. Twisted Easel Card: Cut the No.6 file twice from cardstock, create a little tab in the top left of one heart and mat to the other to create a shaped card. Score and fold diagonally across the bottom of the card front approx 40mm up to create an easel. Cut the No.6 file again and mat onto the easel. Make a little easel with the No.2 file and mat onto the base of the card to create a stopper.

Aperture Easel Card: Cut the No.6 file from cardstock. Cut the No.6 with the No.3 file in the middle, create a tab at the top of the heart and fold in half. Attach to the solid heart to create an easel. Cut the No.6 and No.3 files together and mat onto the front of the card. Cut the No.1 file and mat onto the base of the card to create a stopper.

Tent Card: Cut the No.4 file four times from cardstock. Mat two hearts behind one heart as shown in the image. On the last heart, measure down approx 30mm from the top edge, score across and fold to create a tab. Mat to the back of the hearts to create a card.

------------------------------------ HOW TO - EMBOSSING FOLDERS ---------------------------------------

HOW TO... CREATE A SCORED BACKGROUND

1

Choose a coloured cardstock that has a white core. Place the cardstock coloured side down on your scoreboard.

2

Score vertical lines onto the cardstock. You can do an even pattern or score down random lines to create your own pattern.

3

Once you have gone all the way across, rotate the card 90° and repeat the same again, following the same style of pattern as before.

4

Continue until you have covered enough of the cardstock for your desired background size. You could leave the background like this if you wish.

5

To add more texture, take a sanding block and gently buff over the raised lines rubbing away the coloured surface.

6

When you have finished sanding, trim your background to your desired size.

HOW TO... CREATE A SCORED FRAME

1

On the back of your coloured cardstock, roughly mark out the corners of your desired size frame.

2

From the first corner point, score down from around where your mark is. Then move to the next score line in, and score down again.

3 4

Rotate the card 90° repeat the same as before from the next corner point.

Continue until you have scored all four sides of your frame. Again, you could leave your frame like this if you wish.

5

To add more texture, take a sanding block and gently buff over the raised lines rubbing away the coloured surface.

6 56 | www.tatteredlace.co.uk

When you have finished sanding, trim your frame to your desired size.

COLUMN The new team over at Tattered Lace HQ have given me a page to keep you up to date with me and my crafty antics. So keep an eye out and I’ll be here for a general chit chat, to answer any questions you might have or to share any projects with you that I’ve been working on! Hi Crafters, we’ve been having some wonderful weather in Cambridgeshire lately, let’s hope it stays like that! So, what have I been doing? Well, of course, I’ve been doing lots of crafting and also working on some Downloads too, I love that! We’ve been doing a lot of walking, well, that’s not quite right, Gordon and Jazzy, our lovely little dog have! He’s 14 years old and doing great. I do some of it, and just enjoy taking in the views! Earlier this year in March we took Jazzy for a little holiday in Norfolk. I love it there, it’s one of my favourite places to holiday! The dogs get sausages for the breakfast too so they always love it!

Our little Jazzy!

This is me with one of my daughters Cat on her wedding day. Doesn’t she look beautiful? It was such a wonderful and special day! Also in March my Aunty Nancy and Uncle Paul came over from Florida to see us. We had such a great day! All the family was there, my husband, my daughters, my brothers, their wives and all the nephews and of course my Mum. It was such a lovely reunion, I do love it when all the family get together!

We managed to see Stephanie and Karl for a couple of weekends recently. That’s always lots of fun, we love coming and spending time them. Lots of laughing!!! We will be seeing them again very soon so I’ll update you an any more antics! In April we managed to have a special holiday to Dubai which we were so happy to be able to do after the past few years. We absolutely loved it! Do you think we could make a craft show in Dubai? If so, I will be first on the list to be helping out!!!
