Misconceptions You stand there in the doorway The light reflecting behind you As if you are a descendant from a place above the skyWell, you were in my eyes Your black boots were shining Just like my tears when you left You gave me that half smile that made your eyes crinkle Meanwhile I was crumbling inside Your suit, green and brownI knew how you hated those colorsMade you look like you had no fear Your sack, slung over your shoulder, As if it was the lightest thing in the world, Meant the world to me You left with a purpose Walking away with a meaningful stride And didn’t look back Why? I shouldn’t have let you go Should have tried to change your mind For it wasn’t long until you became a part of the sky
Chains They tell me I can’t Well I say I can
They tell me I shouldn’t Well why should I care They want me to quit They want me to stop When I don’t oblige They say "Why not" You see I say, in a serious tone You live in the moment You live in the zone And when you are done You give in, make your amends That’s when your adventure has come to an end
The Power of Words It seems like we all have that moment A moment of weakness inside of us We've all done it before, just admit it It’s a natural human thing to do It starts with a burning sensation Right where the spite and bitterness is held inside of us Rolled up in a tight ball And it starts to quake and rumble And is spewed out in forms of words
Words that puncture ache burn destroy Words we really didn’t mean But it's all too late now
