Dancing in the Wind

Dandelions Audio for Poem
In the beginning, they cluster together, preparing for their performance. Small ballerinas, with white tutus and delicate choreography. They carefully plan out their program, wanting to make the best of their limited show time. Their cue is the first breath of wind in the spring. When the music of the wind sings, they leap out, swirling in patterns, tiptoeing, and pirouetting, curtsying to the trees, the clouds, and the grass. They rise higher, then swirl down, dancing freely but never making mistakes. Their delicate white tutus catch the wind. The ballerinas show off their skills for the audience until the wind dies down, and they settle on the grass. Their last dance is finished, and they lie down to rest, to wait Summer, autumn, and winter pass quietly. When spring comes again, they rise, in clusters as before Planning their next performance.
The Language of Trees Audio for Poem
Trees don’t talk, but they can still communicate. They don't make noises with their mouths, but they still want to tell us something. I imagine that all trees are rather frustrated that us humans are so thick as to not even understand what they are so clearly telling us. Their leaves rustle when agitated, they sway back and forth when calm. They reach out their long branches and flutter their leaves as if they're dancing. If you watch and listen, it isn't quite so hard to understand what they might be saying. With practice, the chatter of the trees might become one you can't ignore. And once you understand them, you might learn how to reply.
