Nature has the power to heal itself and to heal us, if we let it. Rewilding - in humans is the idea of reverting back to a natural state of being, a way we were before modern culture confined us.This form of taming causes us to feel unseen, depleted, heartbroken and often disconnected and hungry for something more. Art can be a tonic and a teacher. We are surrounded by art in different ways each day, whether it’s music, fashion, poetry or paintings. It accesses different parts of the human brains allowing us to problem-solve as well as make more complex concepts easier to understand by providing us a visual format instead of just numbers or words.
WELCOME The concept of our pop-up art show Rewilding-Be Curious encourages a state of mind and reminds us to surround ourselves with things that nourish us, make us feel alive, evoke our inner emotions. Art induces a state of “FLOW” a feeling of being in the zone. It brings one a sense of losing all awareness, losing youself and that magical moment of being fully present. Art touches us emotionally- each piece tells a story. Take a moment to be curious.

LET 100 FLOWERS BLOOM In the spring of 1957, Chairman Mao Zedong announced "The policy of letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend…designed to promote the flourishing of the arts and the progress of science.” 百花齊放,百家爭鳴 (Baihuā qífàng, baijiā zhēngmíng) He declared that healthy criticism was needed for the Central Government to move forward. Intellectuals and artists began voicing concerns without any taboo. Millions of critical letters poured into the Premier's Office and other authorities. People spoke out, put up posters, rallied in the streets, held meetings for CPC members, and publishing magazine articles. Students at Peking University created a "Democratic Wall" of open dissent on campus. They protested against many policies of Mao’s; the following of Soviet models, the low standards of living in China, all proscription, economic corruption, and rampant Party Cadre privileges. But, from the start, the 100 Flower campaign was a ruse intended to expose rightists and counter-revolutionaries. Mao Zedong persecuted those whose views were different from those of the Party. The “Bloom” was an orchestrated campaign to flush out dissidents by encouraging them to show themselves as critical of the regime, and then subsequently imprisoning them. A trap had been set, inviting people to speak out so that the Authorities could use these expressions to victimize them. One Hundred Flowers was a plan to expose those who preferred liberalization and freedom over the Communist Regime. Mao Zedong lied.

MARIS RACIBARSKAS
Maris is a West-Coast artist whose works explore themes of dark and light, entropy and order, dissipation and renewal. Trained as an illustrator, painter and architect, his work shifts between the sanctuary of nature versus gritty urban dystopias and characters. Vibrant depictions of swirling waters, verdant forests and inland biomes juxtapose with themes of corroding societies and their beleaguered inhabitants. In the current exhibit, “Waterfields” and “Landfields” are works interpreting the ephemeral motion of water and the myriad colors and patterns of land forms. “Shadowcity” is the companion series of work exploring nearfuture worlds through map-like urban vignettes and cyborgs of biological and electro-mechanical construct. Maris studied Painting and Illustration at the New School of Visual Concepts in Seattle, WA and Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC) in Los Angeles, CAwith further study of 3D visualization at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects & Animation, Hollywood, CA.

LULU WATERS
Lulu is fascinated with products that have multiple uses. The first time she saw a Swiss army knife she was in awe and implemented this idea into her work. Lulu creates original paintings that have two paintings in one. Lighting modulates her art. The more light and bright to room is, the more vidid the second painting is when the room is dark. Results may vary based on your lighting conditions.

KEVIN RUSSEL
Neon as an artform makes for a fascinating medium of expression. I became involved with neon due to its scientific nature, combined with the artistic and skilled craft required for its construction. Neon is a perfect blend of art, craft and science... and a little “mad science.” I create neon art projects to arouse my passion and to move people emotionally... sometimes communicating with the viewer with a distinct written message in light, and at other times simply simply through intrigue.
