San Fernando lies at the very heart of the Bay of Cadiz. Covering an area of almost 30 square kilometres, it has approximately 90,000 inhabitants. On one side, it is joined to Cadiz by a strip of land some 8 kilometres long and on the other side, the Zuazo Bridge links it to the rest of the mainland. The “Isla de Leon” (Island of Leon), as it is popularly known, is an enchanting place to visit due to its mild climate, its unspoilt beaches and the extrovert and hospitable nature of the people who live there. San Fernando is on the Atlantic coast but its climate is also influenced by the Mediterranean.
As a result, temperatures are mild and pleasant for most of the year and the beaches can be enjoyed for up to 7 or 8 months out of 12.
