The Campo de Gibraltar is located within the southernmost area part of the Iberian Peninsula and the Andalusian region, southeast of the province of Cadiz. Its role as natural border between two continents (Europe and Africa), and the fact of being
located between two seas (Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea) in addition to the presence of the British colony of Gibraltar, make the region one of the most strategic areas in Europe. The municipalities of Algeciras, Castellar de la Frontera, Jimena de la Frontera, La Línea de la Concepción, Los Barrios and Tarifa make up the geographical map of the region.
