to Cádiz The province of Cádiz is fashionable. It is not surprising as Cádiz has all the attractions required by a leading tourist destination: beaches with clear water and fine golden sand between pine groves and dunes; a chain of mountains which has been declared a Biosphere Reserve (Natural park of Sierra de Grazalema) and also a territory which includes five natural parks and wonderful landscapes; a cultural and artistic heritage of more than 3,000 years old spread between historic-artistic sites, castles and fortifications, archaeological sites…; a unique cuisine based on the sea and the mountains, with high quality wines; feasts and festivals with a marked personality and of International Tourist Interest; monumental towns and habits and traditions such as flamenco, that in most cases were born in the province of Cádiz. If all that was not enough, Cádiz has more than 3,000 hours of sunlight a year and mild temperatures which allow to enjoy this ideal setting, nice people who make visitors feel at home. Come to Cádiz. Get to know us.

> BETWEEN TWO SEAS

10

two Seas If you want to localise the province, it is placed in the most southerly part of Europe, in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula. The provinces of Huelva, Sevilla and Málaga are its neighbours. It borders to the south with the Strait of Gibraltar and the north of Africa and is bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea Founded by Tartessians and Phoenicians more than 3,000 years ago, this land has been the home of many people attracted by its strategic location as a bridge between Europe and Africa and the door of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The peoples of the Mediterranean, mainly the Phoenicians, left important traces and influenced in the way of live of its inhabitants. It is worth mentioning the foundation of Gadir (Cádiz at present) in 1100 B.C. It is the oldest city in the West, information that you will probably not know.
