MARIKINA CITY, Philip- School Elementary level and Forpines - The Pokémon Company (TPC), a Japanese company, with the support of Makati business club (MBC), has donated 530 tablets to 3 Marikina public elementary schools. These tablets will be used by Grade 1 students. It is said that the donation aims to help increase Filipino children’s access to quality education. Many can not afford devices for their education so it is a great help for these students especially during the pandemic. Last Tuesday, the Schools Division Office (SDO) Marikina team, led by Mr. Reinan Ignacio, collected and delivered the tablets to Malanday Elementary School, Concepcion Integrated

tune Elementary School. These said schools are currently implementing the BasaBilang project. This project is between SDO Marikina and The Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. which requires devices for its recipients. This donation is part of TPC Pokémon GO Fest 2020. “Following Pokémon GO Fest 2020, this program is a part of our endeavor to support nonprofit organizations around the globe to improve the lives of children with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. We sincerely hope that these tablets for distance learning can promote equal opportunity in education for children in Marikina,” TPC said.

By: Kristiana Enano TEENAGERS nowadays often experience stress, such as dealing with rejection, failure, breakups, and family problems, which give us mental illnesses. Because of that many teenagers throughout the year commit suicide, like the incident in the town of Tupi, South Cotabato where a 16-year -old boy committed suicide due to pressure and difficulty of learning school modules. As a teenager myself, I experience stress, depression, and anxiety. Yet some parents think that mental health conditions are just a phase for us teenagers, which I beg to differ. I disagree because younger kids and adults also experience depression, not just teens so you can't call it a phase for us, because everyone experiences it. Throughout the year more teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease combined. Each day in our nation, there is an average of over 3,703 attempts by young people in grades 9-12. If these are applied to grades 7 & 8, the numbers would be higher. The newsleather

Global suicide rates among adolescents in the 15-19 age group were examined by the latest World Health Organization (WHO) Mortality Database. Data for this age group are available from 90 countries some cases, areas - out of the 130 WHO member states. The suicide rate for this age group based on data available for the latest year, was 7.4/100,000. Suicide rates were higher in males (10.5) than in females (4.1). This applies in almost all countries. The exceptions are China, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Sri Lanka, where the female suicide rate was higher than the male. Suicide was the fourth leading cause of death among young males and the third for young females in the 90 countries - or areas - studies. Out of the 132,423 deaths of young people in the 90 countries, suicide accounted for 9.1%. The trend of suicide rates from 26 countries or areas with data available during the period 1965 -1999 was also studied. A rising trend of suicide in young males was observed. This was particularly marked in the years before 1980 and in countries outside Europe. The WHO database is the largest of its kind and, indeed, the only information source that can currently be used for analysis of global mortality due to suicide. Methodological limitations are discussed.

The people from Wuhan fell victim to the pandemic and we should not use the virus to villainize them and use it as an excuse to harm and harass innocent civilians. The movement raises awareness about the increasing number of hate crimes against Asians amidst the pandemic. This movement has been a way for people to share their own experiences with racism, to spread and speak up about racist comments and violence to the Asian community. VACCINES work by manipulating the immune system to react to it. Vaccines are actually viruses as well, although it’s a weaker version of the original Virus to allow your body to react to it and force your immune system to remember that type of virus and its descendants. These vaccines are hard to manufacture because you have to take the original virus, try to weaken the virus or kill it without breaking their protein shell, and duplication of those dead viruses. However there are a lot of temporary ways to gain immunity from the virus. Your body releases antibodies as a reaction of a foreign object entering your system. You can train your body to remember what virus they’re dealing with, know what decision to do, and detect those viruses 99% of the time. This is what Vaccines do.
