2 Saturday Class Sessions:   Oct. 17 10:00 am – 4:00 pm   and October 31   10:00 am – 1:00 pm This striking leaf design is sure to catch the eyes of your guests! Learn the newest paper piecing technique, called Curved Paper Piecing, to add the vein element of the leaf. With a regular binding around the shape of the paper pieced element, these little leaves can be hung on a wall in a collage, or placed on a table as a feature element. Or create a background and appliqué the leaves to the top! Make them in diﬀerent colorways to go with your décor or the seasons! Papers for four placemats are included in the pattern. Fee: $70

Winter Wonderland Table Runner

2 Tuesday Class Sessions: December 1 10:00 am – 4 pm and December 15,   1:00 – 4:00 pm Create a table runner featuring three beautiful feathered stars with perfect points - since it is paper pieced! Learn the basic techniques and skills of paper piecing including cutting techniques, understanding the language and directions in the pattern and a terrific organizational system. One pattern has enough papers for two table runners. Start with a kit from Calico Gals to make it easy! Fee: $70

with Julie Burger Tuesday Sept. 29 Noon - 4:00 or 4:30 - 8:30 pm Make a quilt the QUILTSMART way! Join the class and learn the tricks of the trade! Make a beautiful 57” x 71” snuggle-on-the-couch size quilt. It is easier that it looks with Quiltsmart! Feel free to leave the circle off the center to make a contemporary swirl design. The class will focus on block construction with time at the end of class to play with machine appliqué using a simple zig-zag stitch. Your choice to play with a fancier stitch and create a different effect. Fee: $27

Begin at the Beginning  with Nina Dukette  3 Tuesdays: October 20,   November 3 & 17 5:30 – 8:30 pm  New to quilting? Or, just looking for a powerful refresher? Nina teaches the tips and techniques that you’ll need to begin your next project. In three sessions, become familiar with the basic steps of quilt construction, accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing, basting, machine quilting and binding while making a decorative table topper. By the end of the class, you’ll have the confidence to start your own quilt. Class includes discussion of fabric choice and preparation, threads, needles and much more. Fee: $45

Piecing by hand: Beyond the Hexie!   English Paper Piecing 102  with Marcia Evans  Sunday October 11 1:00 - 3:30 pm   Are you ready to move beyond hexagons in your English Paper Piecing? Be adventurous and explore new shapes! Six-pointed stars, jewels and hexies work on their own and together to create all new possibilities in design. No machine needed - this is all handwork. Happy Endings 101: Borders with Kathy Barden Saturday October 10 10:00 am - 1:30 pm Your quilt top is almost complete, except for those pesky borders. Will you do simple overlapping or more interesting mitered borders? What about using a border print or stripes! Maybe you’ll try multiple borders or a border with a flange for a change. How about adding some prairie points, corner stones or even a pieced piano keys border? But, which is best to add the most interest and not detract from what you have already done? And, how do you figure out how much fabric you’ll need for those borders? In this technique class you will be making samples of all of the above borders that you can reference for years to come.

Happy Endings 102: Bindings with Kathy Barden Saturday, November 21 10:00 am to 1:30 pm Now that your quilt top [jacket, tote, table runner, placemats, etc.] is quilted, how are you going to finish it? Do you want to add scallops, or rounded corners? Do you need to cut straight of grain or on the bias binding? Blunt end or mitered corners? What about a corded, false or two colored binding? Will you hand sew it to the back of your quilt or machine it with a decorative stitch and gathered eyelet? If you have questions like these [or any others] about bindings, this class is for you. A follow up to Happy Endings 101: Borders, this is the next step in the “Git ‘er done” series. Make samples to use as references for years to come. Fee: $35

We will get Rocky settled in for the winter and get you started on this really fun quilt. Basic quilting skills are all that’s needed to create a 61 x 73 inch quilt. Finish it in time for winter! S.O.S. Serge on Sergers! with Melissa Morgante  Fridays: Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11  10:00 am – 3:00 pm  The 2nd Friday of each month is a day of serging! Start, continue or finish your current project. Melissa will provide encouragement and advice. Receive a 15% class discount on materials needed that day to finish your project. S.O.S. is for you if you have attended Serger Relief with Melissa or can convince her you know your serger well. Any brand of serger is welcome. Bring something to share for lunch. Fee: $10

Rug Hooking 101 with Melonie Unger  Thursday October 15   6:00 pm - 8:00 pm  Calling all hookers and wannabe hookers! Melonie is teaching a new class on the tips and techniques of rug hooking with wool. This beautiful and classic craft is wonderfully satisfying. Create a table mat, pillow cover, chair seat or wallhanging. This project is perfect for a primitive Americana decorating theme or a housewarming gift. Fee: $25

Embroidery Club with Nina Dukette  Thursdays: Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10  1:00 – 4:00 or 5:30 – 8:30 pm  Make a fun project with your embroidery machine and a cotton towel. Basic Computer Skills for Embroiderers with Tom Baxter  Wednesday October 21 6:00 – 8:30 pm  Confidence with your computer skills will give you more flexibility when sewing. Review basic computer terminology (disk drives, curser, task bar, etc.), file and folder manipulation, internet downloads and the use of USB thumb drives. Create a folder, download a file, copy it to the folder you created and then copy it to an USB thumb drive. You can do this! Many of the concepts are the same for both Windows and Macs, but the visual aids will show Windows screens. Laptop required for class. Fee: $20

Christmas Holly   Wool Table Mat with Melonie Unger  Thursday October 29   6:00 pm - 8:00 pm  Create a beautiful wool table mat with Melonie. Even beginners will enjoy the simplicity of stitching on wool and this relaxing type of handwork. Learn to trace, cut and fuse your pieces to the background. Your project then becomes very portable. Wooly 911 with Melonie Unger  Saturday November 14   10:00 am - 3:00 pm  Have you ever taken a wool class with Melonie at Calico Gals? Did you put your project away because you have questions? Get that project out and bring it on in for some fun dedicated time working with wool. Projects can be wool appliqué or rug hooking. Melonie is bringing lunch, too! Fee: $10

Learn something new this fall! Mariposa… Butterflies! with Marcia Evans Wednesday November 4 2:30 – 4:30 or 5:30 – 7:30 pm  Do you see the pretty curves on the butterfly block? Guess what!? That is a really easy technique! And you only cut straight lines! Marcia shares the tips to create a bunch of pretty butterflies. Watch them flutter across your quilt or table runner. Calico Gals even has bright batik fat eighth kits to make color selection easy. Fee: $25 includes the pattern with instructions for quilt or table runner.

Cloud Nine with Scott Beach  Sunday November 8 1:00 – 3:00 pm  Need a quick quilt? Start with fat quarters, one yard cuts and a quick and easy pattern. End up with a large lap-size quilt! Anyone with experience cutting and sewing will enjoy this quick class. Learn Scott’s seam allowance techniques to get those seams lined up oh-so-nicely. Come with your pieces cut, keep going in class and go home with the top mostly finished on this dreamy quilt. Fee: $10

Simple What Not Club with Marcia Evans  One Tuesday each month:  Oct. 13, Nov. 17, Dec. 8   Choose 10 am - noon or 6:00 - 8:00 pm  So you don't have time for a 6 month club? You spoke, we listened!  All of the Kim Diehl projects can now be done on a month to month basis. Choose any month that tickles your fancy! Each mini quilt includes all fabrics, pattern and a 2 hour class with Marcia. All this for just $40.00!
